Perfrect from start to finish. Pick-up on time, smooth drive to Salt Lick Lodge from our hotel. The game drives were wonderful and we managed to see everything we hoped (we even managed a glimps of a cheetah just before we left). Food and drinks at the lodge were great and the show the wildlife gave us at dinner was the absolute highlight. Special thanks to Saleem, our driver and guide, who made the two days such a pleasure.

These two-story towers, topped by peaked thatch roofs connected by open-air-bridges, create an African fantasy of a medieval fortress. The lodge has been built with game viewing in mind. The structure provides you will a panoramic view of the sanctuary; offering spectacular views of the landscape and wildlife.

Reviews
My partner and I booked this trip from Diani. By chance it was just the two of us on the trip. It’s a ~5hr drive to Salt Lick and the roads aren’t for the faint hearted but once we were there it was one of the most unforgettable trips we’ve had. Eddy was a brilliant driver and guide, kept us on schedule, seemed to know the park like the back of his hand, and got us spotting loads of animals. The van is a little on the tired side but it did the job just fine. Salt Lick itself is absolutely spectacular - the setting is basically unbeatable, the staff were super friendly and the food was excellent. Drinks very reasonably priced considering the remote location and premium they could be charging. Stayed there one night which was enough Safari for us to see everything we wanted to.
Our private safari at Salt Lick Safari Lodge was truly an unforgettable experience! Our communication with the organiser was excellent. We were kept well informed in advance via WhatsApp about availability at Salt Lick Lodge, which helped us plan our stay much more easily. The location itself is absolutely worth visiting, and I would highly recommend spending at least one night there. The lodge is uniquely designed to offer spectacular views of the animals gathering around the waterhole, making the whole experience even more special. The food was varied and delicious, and the service throughout our stay was very good. One of the most magical moments of our trip was during breakfast, when a family of elephants came to the lodge to drink water. Seeing them so close to us was simply incredible and something we will never forget. Last but certainly not least, our guide Benjamin made this trip truly exceptional. He was friendly, passionate, and extremely knowledgeable about the animals and their behaviour. He was also very respectful towards the wildlife and made every effort to ensure we saw as many animals as possible in the park. Thanks to him, our safari was even more memorable.
Wow what an experience Our guide Franics from Wild Bond Tours was brilliant He asked us what do you want to see. We said elephants he found them Giraffe he found them and the cream on the cake was the lions he found them we would highly recommend Franics and Wild Bond Tours at a five star level. Don and Sue English
very nice place. exploring kenya and the cilture of kenya it was good for me
Nice experience we really enjoyed and experience many things
Nice experience we really enjoy 💃
The experience has been incredibile. The accommodation is well organized and furnished. The staff was the kindest I've ever met, the food awesome and the room super clean and comfortable! My guide and drive Edward has been a real gentleman, very calm and discrete but very committed to his job that is finding the best spots to see animals!
Our tour guide was a good driver going to Tvaso West National Park, however he was a terrible tour guide once inside the park. He gave us very little information about our stay at the Salt Lick Lodge which is in serious need of updating. The meals were ok. As far as the game drives, he rarely spoke to us unless we asked a question. One of the passengers in our group consistently spotted the animals in the park instead of him. When we would ask him a question, he didn't seem to understand our question, therefore we got little to no information about the safari animals. Other friends did this excursion also and were very disappointed as well. We were very disappointed that our tour guide was so awful and the drive from our cruise ship and back was over 4.5 hours each day not including the hours you spend in the vehicle doing game drives. My suggestion is to go to Tsavo East which is 3 hours away and much better animal viewing up close.
It all depends on the communication you have with the company and the tour operator. In my case, I experienced several confusing communication problems. Most important, they tried to change my hotel stay while I had already received a confirmation. This stressed me for several days!
It was a pleasure having Benjam as our guide. His welcoming when he picked us up was very kind, so we felt comptable from the very first beginning. During the car drive to the national park he explained a lot about the trees and plants we passed. Inside the park he answered all of our queations, in a professionel kinda way. He is doin his job for more than 18 years. What also relaxed us, he is a good and save car driver too. What we loved, was the way he treated the animals, so he let them pass before we drove by, or turned off the car so the animals would not feel afraid or borthered. He is a thoughtful person not just to human beeings. We saw lions, elephants, pumbas, zebras, giraffes and so much more. Thanks to this interresting, exciting and heart warmig adventure made possible by Benjamin, who always wanted us to feel good by the way. So if you want to learn something about the animals inside tsavo nationalparks choose Benjamin as your guide. We can recommand 100%! Kevin and Peggy from Germany.
IF YOU REALLY WANT A ROOM AT THE SALT LICK LODGE, I RECOMMEND THAT YOU BOOK DIRECTLY WITH THE LODGE AND AVOID DEPENDING ON WILDBOND. I made a reservation with Wildbond tours in Oct 2025 for a safari and stay a the Salt Lick Lodge in late Jan 2026. I was in contact with Wildbond over the next few months, confirming that there was a room, etc. Wildbond confirmed that the Lodge told them they have a room with a view of the watering hole for us. Wonderful!! This was going to be a highlight of our bucket list trip to Kenya. We were already in Kenya when I received a message from Wildbond about 1 week before our scheduled stay at the Lodge. It was at that point that Wildbond informed me that the lodge was booked, they did not have a room for us and there was nothing they could do. My emotions varied from crushed to furious. How could this be? Wildbond assured me several times that we had a room at the lodge!!! They offered a night at a "spa" instead. I told them that if I wanted a spa experience, I would have reserved a room at a spa. Besides, they gave the impression that a room at the lodge was assured. It appears that they do not have a strong relationship with the Lodge or they never made a reservation at the Lodge on my behalf. The entire experience was frustrating and unprofessional. IF YOU REALLY WANT A ROOM AT THE LODGE, I RECOMMEND THAT YOU BOOK DIRECTLY WITH THE LODGE AND AVOID DEPENDING ON WILDBOND.
we had a trip with Benjamin, it was perfect really, Banjamin is such a nice and caring person, he made everything to make us enjoy the tour. we really had a lot of fun on safari!
It was a life changing experience in saltlick. Ranger Denis conducted every explanation about the nature vividly. It was truly nice being there. Am longing to visit again soon and enjoy every moment again
Had an amazing 50th Birthday, Hemed was a fantastic guide very informative, we saw lions, buffaloes, elephants, giraffes and many many more animals, would recommend this experience was amazing, we changed venue from salt lick “lodge but personally preferred the luxury there of the pool etc
We had an amazing experience with Black Santa. From beginning to end he was attentive, informative and a very knowledgeable person to be with on this incredible experience! He knew the names of all the animals we came in contact with and told us about their habitat and breeding habits!
Our safari trip with Benjamin was an incredible and unforgettable experience. There were just the three of us girls on the tour and we felt completely safe and well taken care of, which is truly important when traveling in foreign countries. Benjamin did everything he could to make sure we saw as many animals as possible. He gave us plenty of time with each one so we could calmly admire them, take photos and record videos. He also shared many fascinating facts and stories about the animals and the plants on the safari, which made the trip both interesting and educational. The entire experience was very well organized - from the pick-up directly at our hotel reception to the drive during which we were already learning interesting facts about Kenya. The atmosphere throughout the trip was warm and friendly. Benjamin is extremely dedicated, professional, experienced and caring. I honestly wouldn’t want to visit a safari with any guide other than him! We saw countless elephants, and when Benjamin heard how much we love cats and how badly we wanted to see the big ones in the wild, he did everything in his power to make it happen. He made our dream come true and turned the trip into a memory we will cherish for the rest of our lives. Thank you and hopefully see you again soon! I wholeheartedly recommend this experience to all travelers, you definitely won’t come back disappointed! :)
Seeing wild animals in person is an incredible experience, and that alone was a great part of the trip, but our guide, Benjamin, also made the time even more enjoyable. His stories about the animals were very interesting, and you learned a lot! He ensured our comfort and did everything he could to ensure we saw and photographed the animals from the best possible perspective. Very professional and experienced, I highly recommend him! And the number of zebras was countless.
“It was an amazing adventure. I finally fulfilled my biggest dream of seeing wild animals in their natural environment. Our guide Benjamin was the best guide I could have wished for. He made sure I got the best view of every wild animal, and most importantly, I saw the queen of the jungle and the king of the jungle! Thank you, and see you again next time for sure!”
Traveling solo, it wasnt easy to find a Safari i could do without joining another group, so i was happy to find this Tour. The Tour was planned very well. On the Drive from Diani to Tsavo my guide Benjamin already explained a Lot and was more than willing to answer all the questions i had. Over all He was very knowledgeable and comfortable to be around. The Lodge is beautiful, i was lucky to have a room with direct view of the water hole , where there were always animals to be Seen. Would definitely recommend. I only did 2 days, next time i would do at least 3, as the Park is very big .
I struggled to find a company did only accept one participant, so I was grateful when I found this one. My experience was wonderful I wish I had done more days but next time, my guide (Benjiman) was the absolute best. He took his time to explain everything to me. He also made sure I was able to see as much animals as possible. My heart is full from this experience having a guide like (Benjiman) made it even more pleasant.
Booked the Safari overnight stay for my husband’s birthday, a day before got a WhatsApp message to say we were on the waiting list & the lodge was fully booked, it would have been nice have been when I booked and made payment that we were on a waiting list. This was disappointing. Alternative accommodation was offered, which was very comfortable, great friendly staff and good food. The Safari experience was amazing, our guide Benjamin was the best, he was very professional and he took the extra steps to ensure that we had the best experience. His knowledge on the animals was next to none, he promised Lions and he came through, he has am eagle eye for spotting the animals, would definitely recommend this safari, if you can ask for Benjamin. I booked this trip from the Uk so absolutely had no clue how accurate the description to the trip would be. It was spot on ! I had a courtesy message the night before as a reminder then on the morning of the trip Benjamin texted to confirm his arrival at the hotel. From the get go he was informative of what we were to expect and made sure we were comfortable well hydrated and looked after on the whole of our trip nothing was too much trouble at all ! The wealth of knowledge he has for the animals as to finding them in the park and in general facts about them was really good we even saw a Leopard and the close up lion was also something that will stay with us forever We had the best time and it was really was due to Benjamin being such a great guide and going above and beyond thank you ! Salt lick lodge on check in the room wasn’t a great view however we asked to be moved and it was fabulous and it was no trouble it was very busy when we were at breakfast lunch dinner (there was vegetarian options and soya milk labelled )however this is the only time we felt this in reflection the park you could go miles not seeing another vehicle for ages i absolutely would recommend the private tour it suited us really well as it was tailored to us and at our pace :-) If I could make one suggestion I would say the stop off on the way back could do with some labels on their food for the lunch Thanks again Benjamin the best time !
Absolute perfect Safari, we have Seen so many different Animals and so close…!! Our driver and Guide Benjamin was wonderful: Kind, polite and with so much Information. He had the Knowledge and Instinkt to Drive is to the Spots before the crowd Showed up. I was here 6 month ago with another organization so I can compare: this was really Great experience!
We booked this tour online direct and found it to be a great experience. Our Guide Ben was exceptionally good at driving and picking out the game in East Tsavo Game Park. He made every effort to ensure we saw the game but also positioned us for the best photos.
It may seem a bit pricey (we took a private tour) at first, but it is worth every cent. The organisation is flawless, the safaris (as you get to try morning, day and evening tours, with different perspectives) are perfectly run and the lodge is unique (we chose "Salt Lick" which has less amenities that Taita but is "out of this world" with close encounters to the animals when they come to drink). What brought these two days beyond our expectations is the incredible service and knowledge of Benjamin (you may check all my reviews here to see that I very rarely name anyone). He went out of his way to get us the best spots possible, was very informative and offered assistance even for matters outside the safari (like booking train tickets, which can be challenging for tourists !). His skills gave us the opportunity to encounter almost all the game, from numerous zebras to the unique lions. Because nothing is perfect and there is always a path for improvement, I should mention that prices for the extra (namely drinks) in the lodge are prohibitive. Of course it's far from everywhere, but it is beyond reasonnable. Highly recommanded.
During our Safari trip we had 1 night here. We first slept at Taita Hills and then went here the next day. This is a really special location so in the middle of the savannah with the animals. The animals really walk by and under the house. Because of the waterhole that the hotel provides, all animals come here to drink. The hotel itself is also very neat, clean, staff is friendly and the food is tasty.
Very small rooms, but nice also the restaurant is very nice, very extensive view with elephants coming to drink
We opted for a private safari Our 2 guides Benjamin and Joseph were very caring with us. They took the time to research and explain wildlife to us. Everything was on top, accommodation, food, and safari was on top
Our Guido Kruger was top perfect for us. We saw so many animals. Accommodation at Salt Lick Lodge was a dream. From the baby elephant to the lion, it was all there. Thanks to the team at Wuld Bond Tours.
We booked the trip in advance in Germany a long time ago and used the option "pay later". After we arrived at the hotel came the booking confirmation of the excursion. Shortly afterwards came a WhatsApp with the welcome and unfortunately the hint that the planned appointment could only take place with overnight stay in an alternative hotel. However, I was also offered two alternate dates for the overnight stay at SaltLick Lodge, which I also chose. So the safari was a day earlier than planned. What I'm saying is that even if something doesn't go according to plan, there is a lot of effort being made to find alternatives! The journey itself was outstanding. Our guide Badru was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Told us a lot and also told us a lot of questions about Kenya and its culture along the way. He also knows the roads to the nature reserve very well, so we were able to bypass all traffic jams even if that means driving off-road for a short time! Just before we even got to dad nature reserve, there was an elephant standing on the side of the road and here too he has already stopped for photos and information about the animal. The rest of the ride was quieter. The lodge itself into a dream! I'm infinitely glad I didn't have to stay outside. In the evening, the elephants came to about 1 meter before one and drank water. Many zebras and antelopes were also visible at the waterhole. And then to be woken up at 3 a.m. with a lion's roar. These also came to the waterhole. And right at 6am we started looking for the lions. There were a lot of radio messages where the lions could be but following those radio cues didn't do any good. Then Badru ignored the radio sense and drove the route on his own over another route and lo and behold - we discovered the lions! It has been an incredible highlight to be the first to find the lions. Something I'll never forget. For this rethink and take initiative I simply have to thank Badru again here! When we had to say goodbye to the lodge, it was already emotional for me. On the way back we also stopped at a Masai village which showed us their culture and dance. Of course this was a small extra charge but this half hour in her village was beautiful and shows the simplicity in Kenyan life. This ride is more than just recommended!
It was an all-round successful excursion! From the 1st to the last minute just wonderful. The staff at the lodge were super friendly, the lodge itself a dream. Our guide made everything possible to show us as many animals as possible, which worked out! Just everything perfect!
We had a great overnight safari to Salt Lick lodge with Wild Bond Tours & safaris with our amazing guide Jackson. He was a knowledgeable driver and has made our 2-day stay a great experience. The overnight stay was superb at Salt lick lodge. Great location. From our room we could see the giraffes coming to drink water at the lodge. The food and the staff were superb. Highly recommended. Our safari was simply breathtaking! Everything was perfectly organized from start to finish. Our guide Benjamin was not only extremely competent, but also incredibly friendly and passionate, which made the experience even more incredible.
The two days were just fantastic, lots of animals, great organization , beautiful accommodation and the best was our guide Benjamin... Perfect !!!
Top trip courtesy of Benjamin. Lodge is pretty unique. Tsavo in itself really does not need a review. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Kenya.
Great tour! Benjamin, our guide, was outstanding, he took care of us from the beginning until the last minute! Highly recommended!! Thank you Benjamin 🤩🤩
Great experience. Perfect guide Benjamin. The stopover on the 4.5 hour journey was good. Extremely clean sanitary facilities and reasonable prices for food and drinks. Local lions, elephants and many other animals seen. Good hotel and top buffets there. On the way back another stop in a Maasai village. There lives a family of 72 members. That's because that has six wives at all. It was an interesting stop. All in all a very successful trip over 2 days. The long journey of 5 hours each was worth it.
