That we pay for audioguide and Thérèse no audioguide… wifi to use de QR codes dont work well. We coud’nt visit the south site too
We had a once in a lifetime experience thanks to our incredibly thoughtful and experienced guide. Yannis picked us up with treats in hand. We had the most comfortable journey to Delphi with scenic stops and history lessons along the way. He took us to the best restaurants and even knew how to beat the crowds at the Meteora monasteries. The trip was magical and we feel like we made a new friend. Highly recommend this excursion and Yannis as a guide.
The audio tour of the Delphi site and museum was very informative and added to our overall trip. We appreciate being able to go at our own pace. The audio tour of the site added to the information posted and enriched our experience. We ended up going a bit out of order but easily could pull up the information we needed. O One suggestion: the Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia is currently closed for visiting although you can view it from the road. This is the first site on the audio tour. We visited the main site first and then found a viewing spot for the Sanctuary.
Not sure what is happening, I used Viator in many countries before with good experience. But in Istanbul and now in Delphi, it has been a struggle. At this particular site, I received expired tickets bar codes. We couldn’t get into the site. After 30 minutes, trying to get tickets validated and having to talk to a Viator agent. Viator could not not help, they refund my tickets…. So I needed to go to the ticket line but tickets …. Wasted precious time.
self guided tour was difficult to download and use especially at site. the site was extremely poorly marked for distance and information.
The Delphi ruins is a must do. So amazing seeing stuff from 5000bc. The site is well done and it’s so neat that you get to walk through the entire site. The arena is worth the hike all the way to the top!
The Delphi Archeological site of Delphi left us stunning. We found it even better than Olympia for example. Not very crowded and well preserved. The audio tour was very good. We downloaded it from Key tours and was available in our language (Dutch). You must be aware of the fact that the site is difficult to visit for people with mobility issues. There are many stairs to clime to see the whole site, but if you do or are able to do it, the reward is stunning. Don't skip this visit for what ever reason, you will regret this for sure.
Breathtaking archeological site and Museum. A must see and with the long drive from Athens. View of mountains from the site is stunning. Recommend good shoes as steps can be slippery and ground is uneven. Highlight of the museum is the Charioteer bronze a real wonder of antiquetee.
We requested a guided tour. We were sold a self guided tour. After receiving the tickets we discovered that we were sold a self- guided tour. We immediately, writhing five minutes, called to tell Viator that e had no headphones and that what they sold us would be of no value. They said they would escalate the refund. They advised us no refund.
Husband and I recently visited the archeological site but not the museum. The archeological site is beautiful. However you are not able to go down to the gymnasium. The temple of Athena is a fair distance down the street and be careful not to get run over by a bus! We were unable to visit the museum because we unknowingly chose to view the ruins first. They wouldn’t allow us to enter unless we purchased another ticket, even though our tickets said they were valid 6/29/24. No where on the ticket does it specify you have to start at the museum. So be certain to start at the museum.
Download of tickets did not work. It was also cheaper to buy tickets there. Viator did seem to give me a prompt refund.
Delphi is just amazing and I am so glad we went. The audio tours were a bit dry and very factual so we didn’t love them and wished we had splurged for a live guide.
Delphi was spectacular and our driver answered the many questions that we asked. Knew the area and was accommodating on all levels
The archaeological site of Delphi is worth the trip from Athens. It's in a quiet, scenic mountain setting in contrast to the busy, crowded city of Athens. There are guided bus trips to Delphi, but it didn't sound like they give you sufficient time to see all of the archaeological site and museum, and really experience it. We rented a car from Athens Car Rental (ACR) and spent the night in Delphi and were really glad that we did. Driving in Greece was no problem at all, many road signs were in Greek and English, the traffic through the countryside to Delphi was light, and Google maps on our phones worked great for navigation. Also, Google translate using the phone's camera is amazing. In hindsight, it would have been nice to spend two nights in Delphi. I saw a couple reviews that mentioned your ticket to the archaeological site and museum was good for two days, so you could see the museum on one day and walk through the archaeological site the next day. We found this was not true, at least not for our tickets. Be sure to also see the nearby Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia (no ticket required). In early May the weather was cool.
The supplied tickets were refused by the Delphi ticket office. I had to buy 2 replacement tickets. No response to my email to Key Tours for refund. Its a scam!
Our entry tickets had been used and we couldn’t get in. We had to stand on line and buy new tickets. This supposedly happens every day!
A very interesting and enjoyable visit. Quite a steep climb but I was expecting this. Great views of the surrounding area as well as the antiquities. However………. The audio guide did not work so that was no help at all. Also I discovered on arrival that as an EU citizen over the age of 65 I am eligible for a discounted entry ticket, so I paid too much when buying online.
It was one of the most exciting experience we had in Greece. Delphi is a scenic place with a very cool weather.
I paid for an audio tour and the site supervisor told me an audio tour didn’t exist. I paid for a service that was not available.
The system was easy enough to use but we found the GPS wasn’t always accurate but you can manually select locations so that was ok. There wasn’t a lot of info provided at the site itself so we were very pleased we had this for some extra info ….. but the narrator was quite boring - and lots of background info which may suit some people but standing in the sun at a spot for 5 + mins was sometimes too much. We were probably more critical than most as we had used a VR tour at Olympia 2 days before which was excellent and this couldn’t compete.
The tickets wouldn’t open (said broken page and all other pages and attachment were working fine). I have emailed the company and received no reply. We had to purchase a second set of tickets to get in and so far (3 days later) no repose or reimbursement
Delphi and the archeological museum was amazing. I could stay there all day. SO much to see and experience. The details is everything you look at.
This is a site in a beautiful setting against the hill. With the explanation it becomes much more interesting.
Impressive! Beautiful walk in the mountains. You must go when it is not too hot!! It's worth a visit for both the landscapes and the historic site! Continue to the Meteora and you will have a memorable excursion!
Awkward when we had a child with us, they required passport to see age (free up to 24 years so there should have been no question marks) We were shown several times before we finally got in and once inside we got no audio
Delphi is zeer de moeite waard, ook het museum dat erbij hoort is mooi. Het was een zeer geslaagde dag.
