Itinerary
MEETING OUR GUIDE. Your guide will be waiting for you at the entrance of the Museum & she will have a sign with your name written. EXPLORING THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE. Inset on wide terraces along the hillside we are fortunate that the landslides of previous centuries preserved much of the ancient remains for us, including the 4th century BC temple of Apollo from where the Oracle spoke her prophecies along with the Castilian spring of Mythology, theatre, treasury buildings, temples of Athena and Gymnasium where athletes gathered before the Pythian games to bathe in the sacred waters. During your visit to Delphi, you can still see the physical structures associated with this incredibly long history a your expert guide brings their History to life before you.
TOURING THE MUSEUM. A beautiful addition to the site is the modern museum which displays finds stretching back in time to at least 1500 BC, including many of the sculptures & other unique pieces that adorned the temples & streets of the site at its peak around the 4th century BC. Outstanding pieces include the Naxos Sphynx, the twin Kouroi, and the famous Bronze Charioteer among others.
TOURING THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE. One of the most important archeological sites in Greece and designated by the God Zeus as center of the Ancient World. Tour the site as you tread the path of previous kings to the Temple of Apollo, learn about the Prophecies of the famous Oracle, the Ancient Olympic games held there, the treasuries of cities housed on the site and many other wonders such as the giant Naxos Sphynx. Amazingly, many of these structures still exist to provide an amazing connection to the History & Mythology which your guide will bring to life.

Our guide was an archeology student and very knowledgeable about the history of the area. He explained in great depth all about the history of the temple of Apollo at Delphi. We had a great time.
Georgia was a great guide. Very knowledgeable and informative. We would highly recommend this tour
Mikala was our guide and she was extremely knowledgeable and patient. This was one of two guided historical site tours we had during our trip and this was by far the best guide and worth the cost and time. Highly recommend.
Very interesting museum and site. I will definitely recommend this tour. We covered a lot in a good pace.
Our Delphi tour was one of the best of the trip! Our guide was so knowledgeable and gave us great history and context to the archeological site. She also whipped us through the museum with the perfect balance of highlighted information and a quick pace. We lingered around the archeological sites and learned so much from her. Thank you for pairing us with such a knowledgeable guide.
Extremely knowledgeable. What a great experience. We had a great time. Very highly recommended. A++++
Efi was our tour guide. Private tour is the only way to go. She is from the area and relayed the history along with stories of her family interactions with Delphi. We thoroughly enjoyed our time learning about the ancient history of our civilization. We highly recommend this tour.
It is a great experience that all would enjoy. Our host was terrific and very knowledgeable. I would recommend this excursion to anyone!
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Our guide, Georgia, was kind and knowledgeable. Worth the extra cost. Highly recommend if you want to learn about the site history.
Our tour guide was absolutely lovely and so knowledgeable. It was expensive but totally worth it.
A wonderful way to understand this iconic site. My husband and I toured both the museum and the ruins. Our tour and tour guide were both excellent. Georgia was very knowledgeable and personal. The tour was a great pace. Georgia hit the highlights in the museum and the ruins, answered all our questions and provided us so many insights on Delphi
We loved our guide. She did a great job in both the museum and the actual ruins. She was very informative and engaging with our group. Tour was well worth the money and I would recommend this tour to anyone.
Delphi is amazing. However, two hours was not nearly enough. And this was a private tour! While our guide was fairly knowledgeable, she rushed past many exhibits, especially in the museum, where we wanted to learn more about specific exhibits and possibly linger a bit longer to take them in. We had very little time to simply soak in the serenity of the site. We were constantly on the move. In addition, the tour didn’t even include the stadium. I really wanted to show that to my wife. (It’s roped off anyway, so it would have been a minimal experience, considering the further climb involved. I’m of Greek ancestry, and visited Delphi once before, long ago, so I had quite a bit of interest in the details. Others would probably enjoy the tour, as it was. In addition, I was disappointed we could not tour the gymnasium and the balance of the ruins below. Again, they were closed. Another problem was our arrival. The guide was supposed to meet us outside the gate. No one (three of them) at the ticket booth had any idea what I was showing them, in the way of your emails, tickets and/or vouchers. The same applied at the entryway to the museum. That was a seriously distressful situation. Our guide was inside the museum, PAST the metal detector at the entrance!!! As excited as I was to visit again and share this site with my wife, it was a real let down for me.
Georgia was an excellent guide - very knowledgeable. She made the visit to Delphi very special. She was very accommodating to our group and changing schedule
The guide gave us excellent explanations and pointed out highlights in the museum tour first. I am very impressed with the level of professionalism and knowledge that we are finding in all these licensed guides.
Our tour guide, Helen of Patras, was clearly an expert not only on Delphi but Greek History and a brilliant storyteller to boot. She brought the site alive. The two hours flew by.
A truly exceptional and highly personal way to understand this iconic site. We toured both the museum and the ruins, and would absolutely not have had the context to experience Delhpi in the same way without this tour!
Georgia was knowledgeable, amiable and had a great pace. She hit the highlights of the wonderful museum and ably answered all our questions. We couldn’t ask for a better guide to this important world heritage site at Delphi.
Our tour and tour guide were both excellent. Licen was unfailingly well-informed on any question that we could ask and she was very passionate about Delphi. She made the tour very enjoyable. Two hours was perfect for our family of 4.
The good: great to have the guide summarize what we were seeing, and she was helpful in taking pictures of our whole group The not-so-good: the guide was a few minutes late and the experience seemed curt and not as warm and inviting as other experiences we had dwhile we were in Greece.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and explained the history to us. All of our questions were answered. She maximized our time between the museum and the site. We would highly recommend this tour
I highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in learning about the ancient archaeological site of Delphi. Our tour guide, Helen, was amazing! She started our tour with a visit to the Delphi Museum which laid the foundation for our visit to the site. The site itself was humbling with all of its history. This tour was one of the best we experienced during our month in Greece.
I am 50/50 on recommending this tour — Georgia was really nice and provided great context and background while we toured the museum, which helped paint a picture and make the archeological site visit more meaningful (and I don’t think we could have gleaned the same level of detail from visiting the site on our own). But the tour overall was very rushed and she didn’t accompany us through most of the archaeological site-part of the tour. With that said, it’s hard to find a licensed guide that will meet you at the site if you have your own transportation to Delphi, so we enjoyed it overall but wished it was less rushed and more in depth.
A very good tour, with an amazing tour guide! We got a very long (private) tour, with detailed interesting information She was patient with our questions and pace. She made sure we don't miss any major artifact in the museum. She built the tour in such a way that we got a coherent story, that helped us learned a lot. In addition, the view from this site is amazing, and provide some sense of why the temple is placed in this place Not to miss!
The guide was excellent with a lot of knowledge. She answered all our questions. She made sure we don't miss any of the important artifacts (in the museum) and all that can be seen at the site. She adopted the pace to ours - making sure we are comfortable at any time. Since it was a private tour - it is a bit expensive - but worth it!
Our guide (Myrsi) was great. Very knowledgeable and personable. She was on site on time and kept us engrossed as she explained what we would/were seeing in the museum and the site and answered all our questions. She also gave us very good recommendations and advice on stuff to do and see in Athens. It was a busy day in Delphi and the museum visit felt a bit rushed but we needed to be in Athens early that day so a longer visit would not have been possible.
Our family of four, including two teenagers, thoroughly enjoyed our private tour of Delphi. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, and the manner in which she conducted the tour provided so much context for everything else we saw during our visits to other ancient sites in mainland Greece. We learned so much and appreciate our guide's time and patience with all of our questions!
The tour was excellent. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the site, the history and how various aspects of faith and history have intertwined over the centuries. I have read a great deal and watched documentaries about Delphi but nothing can really explain the site and sheer awe of it all until you have been there. Even if you are being dragged along as part of a group, the views of the mountains and valley are totally worth it! It does involve walking, stairs and a trek up the hill. We did not find it strenuous but you should check with the site if you need accommodations. The inside part of the tour is accessible but I'm not sure about outside.
Georgia was AMAZING! She was very knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting. Delphi is really magical and worth seeing.
My family recently enjoyed our excellent, highly informative Delphi archaeological site and museum tour with Georgia! She genuinely cared that we understood the key historical points and explained things in a way that engaged all of us, including our 12 and 14 year olds. I reached out to this tour operator under fairly short notice, and they were very responsive, helpful and professional throughout the process in arranging this tour. Communication was excellent - this is clearly a highly professional operation with seasoned tour guides.
It was brutally hot and part of the archeological site was closed but these were not the fault of our guide who was very knowledgeable and friendly. We learned a lot and had a great tour.
Wealth of knowledge and insight. Georgia explained the history of Delphi inside the museum very well with an easy personality. Kept our attention well. Then we walked ruins. Very insightful. Would highly recommend Georgia.
Our guide was great! She was knowledgeable and interactive. She made the tour very fun! I highly recommend using WarmPenguin for this tour.
We had a great time on our tour of Delphi. It added so much to the experience, to learn about the history surrounding the oracle. It is an amazing place, but to appreciate it fully, you really need to understand its rich past. Marilia was fantastic!
Amazing trip to Delphi with WarmPenguin! Yannis was an incredible driver and explained so much to us on the way. Irene guided us in the Delphi historical site and we learned so much from her. Big crowds and terrible traffic and parking at Delphi, but we were comfortable and didn't have to worry about a thing. Yannis even found us the most amazing restaurant for a beautiful lunch in the town of Delphi afterwards. The best way to see the site! Don't miss!!
Excellent guide who kept our whole family engaged. We enjoyed learning all about the history and mythology of Delphi! Highly recommended.
Georgina was an excellent guide! We are history nerds, and she was very patient with us as we asked a lot of different questions. The site itself is beautiful and well-preserved. This was one of the highlights of our trip!
Our tour guide, Georgia, was incredible. I highly recommend a guided tour at every Greek historical site.
Giorgia was an excellent guide to the site of Delphi and the museum, and she told us various anecdotes about Greek history and mythology. The children also had fun. Highly recommended
Sotiria was a super guide. She immersed us in the history of Delphi for 2.5 hours. She was waiting for us punctually and shared her archaeological knowledge with us!
