Step into the heartbeat of Dar es Salaam’s coastal culture at Kivukoni Fish Market. From the crack of dawn, this vibrant hub comes alive with the calls of fishermen, the gleam of fresh catch, and the rhythm of daily trade. Your guide will walk you through the market’s inner workings, sharing insights on local fishing traditions, seafood culture, and the social importance of this iconic space.✨ #DarFishMarketTales
Step back in time and experience the quiet elegance of Azania Front Lutheran Church—an enduring landmark of faith and colonial history. Built in 1891 by German missionaries, this red-roofed beauty overlooks the Indian Ocean and stands as a graceful reminder of Dar es Salaam’s layered past. Inside, its simple yet striking interior offers a peaceful pause in your journey, while your guide shares the stories of its origin, influence, and continued role in the community.
Unveil the soul of Tanzania at the National Museum—a curated journey through the country's rich history, diverse cultures, and natural wonders. From ancient hominid fossils to artifacts from the colonial and independence eras, each exhibit offers a deeper understanding of where Tanzania has been and where it's going. Your guide will illuminate the stories behind the displays, connecting the past to the present in a way that feels both personal and profound. This is more than a museum—it's the heart of Tanzanian heritage brought to life.
Standing tall at the heart of Dar es Salaam, the Askari Monument is both a symbol of the city and a solemn tribute to African soldiers who fought in World War I. Erected during the British colonial period, this bronze statue honors the courage and sacrifice of the askari—local troops who served across East Africa. More than just a landmark, it represents the complex layers of Tanzanian history: resilience, remembrance, and the journey toward independence.
Immerse yourself in the living rhythm of Dar es Salaam at Kariakoo—the city's busiest and most dynamic commercial district. Here, the streets pulse with energy as vendors, shoppers, and porters weave through a maze of colors, sounds, and scents. From fresh produce and fabrics to electronics and street food, Kariakoo is where local life unfolds at full volume. It’s more than a market—it’s a microcosm of Tanzania’s urban spirit, and your guide will help you navigate its organized chaos with ease and insight.
Embark on a cultural odyssey through Tanzania’s rich heritage at Makumbusho Village, where over 200 tribes come to life in a collection of traditional homes, artifacts, and customs. Wander through the open-air museum, where each hut, crafted with authentic materials, tells the story of the diverse tribes that shape Tanzania’s identity. With every step, you'll uncover living history, and your guide will provide insights into the cultural significance of each structure, bringing the past into the present. It’s a captivating journey into the heart of Tanzanian tradition and community.
Explore the vibrant tapestry of Tanzanian craftsmanship at the heart of Dar es Salaam. From intricately carved wood sculptures to bold fabrics and handmade jewelry, this is where creativity meets tradition. Engage with local artisans, learn about their techniques, and take home a meaningful piece of Tanzanian culture. It’s an inspiring stop that celebrates the talent, heritage, and entrepreneurial spirit of the community.
Dive into the vibrant rhythm of Dar es Salaam at Coco Beach, where golden sands stretch along the Indian Ocean and the breeze carries the scent of the sea. A favorite weekend retreat for locals, this lively coastal stretch offers a true taste of Tanzanian leisure. Savor the crunch of freshly fried cassava, sip on cool coconut juice straight from the shell, and soak in the energy of music, markets, and ocean views. It’s where the city unwinds—and where you’ll experience seaside bliss with a local touch.
Stroll through the lively, authentic neighborhoods of suburban Dar es Salaam, where the city's true spirit unfolds in everyday life. This stop offers a rare glimpse into the daily routines and vibrant interactions that define the local culture. As you wander through bustling streets, you'll see community life in full swing—from street vendors selling fresh produce to neighbors exchanging greetings. It’s an intimate look at how the city pulses beyond the tourist areas, offering an unfiltered, personal connection to Dar es Salaam's heart and soul.

Said was absolutely phenomenal! From beginning to end, he was professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly accommodating. He made us feel completely comfortable and safe while giving us a wonderful introduction to Dar es Salaam, its culture, history, and people. What made Said exceptional was how personable and genuine he was. It never felt like we were simply being taken from one tourist attraction to another. He made the experience feel authentic and tailored to us, answered all of our questions, and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. Said truly made our visit to Dar es Salaam memorable. If you’re visiting Dar, book with him—you will not be disappointed. Asante sana, Said! 🇹🇿❤️
It was such a nice trip! In this tour you are able to see the real soul of Daressalam! Thank you so much for this opportunity.
I had an amazing experience! I booked this Dar Es Salam tour with Saed, who is a very professional guide! I recommend with all my heart this activity, full of very well documented and accurate information! We visited all special places in Dar and emerged into local atmosphere! The tour with GoSaed is the best way to know and to understand the beautiful Dar Es Salam!
Saed was my guide for the tour and I must admit he was wonderful. His knowledge of the city and history made it very enjoyable. I especially liked how he explained the European influence on the country. Thanks again Saed.
Was a great experience. Learnt a lot about the history and culture of the area. My guide Sayeed was very knowledgeable. He made the tour of the National Museum very interesting with additional snippets of information. The fish market was an amazing experiences!
The tour was terrific and we learned a lot. Our guide was fantastic and took such good care of us! We most highly recommend this for everyone!
We had a great time on this tour. Felt fully immersed, connected to the people and the history of this city. Additionally, we loved that we could control the pace of the tour. This tour is highly recommended
Saed is a great guide, and I love that he really encouraged us to see everything in our itinerary. My jet lag was really intense; the easiest thing for him to do would be to rush the tour. Instead, he checked in, made sure I felt okay, and encouraged us to keep going so we could see the best parts. I'm so glad we did because the museum that showcased all of the architecture of local tribes was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We were so hungry by the end, Saed recommended a great place and had lunch with us, we appreciated the conversation. He is one of the best tour guides I have ever had, maybe even the best! Thanks Saed.
I had an amazing day trip through Dar es Salaam! From start to finish, everything was well organized, and I got to experience the city’s rich culture, history, and beautiful scenery. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the tour both fun and informative, sharing interesting facts while making sure I was comfortable throughout the day. What really stood out was how he went above and beyond for me. He made an additional stop so I could pick up my luggage that had been lost, which wasn’t part of the itinerary. That level of kindness, flexibility, and genuine care made a stressful situation so much easier, and I truly appreciated the extra effort. The itinerary was well planned, giving me enough time to enjoy each stop without feeling rushed. I especially loved exploring the local markets, learning about the city’s history, and experiencing the vibrant culture of Dar es Salaam. If you’re visiting Tanzania and want a great introduction to the city, I highly recommend this tour. Exceptional service, a fantastic guide, and an unforgettable experience—I would definitely book with them again!
5/5 stars! I highly recommend Mr Saed to see Dar. The pace was managed to suit me and we went to places that I was most interested in. I will definitely tell my friends to contact Mr Saed for their travels. His van car is spacious, clean and very comfortable.
Our tour with Saed Vato was nothing short of wonderful and impressive—a rich journey through an incredible variety of places. Saed speaks excellent English and possesses a deep understanding of the country’s culture, mindset, history, and contemporary life. The tour lasted a full 10 hours, generously exceeding the promised 6–8. The driving was calm and comfortable throughout, so I happily arranged with Saed for airport transportation the next day (for an additional fee, which was well worth it). I particularly loved the visit to the church. The vibrant fish market was a feast for the senses, and a stop at a charming beach café for coffee or a local beer, followed by a leisurely stroll along the shore, was simply lovely. Saed is a wonderfully attentive guide who tailors both the route and his stories to the client. He speaks openly about many complex issues facing modern Dar es Salaam and Tanzania, including painful moments in history. Having grown up in the city, he knows it intimately—and it’s clear he speaks of it with genuine affection. Yet at no point does the experience feel like a stiff, memorized script. There’s no pushiness, no artificial itinerary. I have not a single regret about the money spent on this tour. It was absolutely worth it, and I would wholeheartedly recommend both the tour and Saed as a guide to anyone visiting Dar es Salaam. My warmest thanks and greetings to Saed!
The tour gave us a flavour of Tanzania and Dar. Thank you to Mzee Vumbi and Mr Saed for a great experience with lots of insights and information about the history, culture and traditions of the city and country. Our family (3 generations) enjoyed our time with you. The kids liked the Village museum especially. We wish you the very best for the future.
I had a great driver, and he was excellent at adjusting the tour so I could see the places I wanted to visit. A very professional driver, excellent vehicle with air conditioning. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe. He was very knowledgeable. I really enjoyed this tour.
Saed was very sincere, and took me diligently to all the locations in the itinerary. We had a good lunch and exchanged a lot of information about our countries and cultures. I would definitely recommend the Dar Es Salaam city tour with him
Nice tour with Saed showing us highlights of Daressalam. Family of 5 persons, arriving from Zanzibar. Saed picked us up at the ferry, nice tout through the city and drop off at the airport. Absolutely to recommend, as Saed has a lot of knowledge and a very nice and friendly person. Luc
It was excellent. Saeed is very knowledgeable about history, locations, etc. Very polite and professional. I traveled alone because my husband was sick.
This was a full-day tour (9am till 5.30pm) taking in the main sights of the city and including lunch. The guide Saed was excellent. He spoke very good English and was very knowledgeable about the places we visited. His vehicle was very comfortable, had air con, and also offered good wifi. We first visited the fish market and the Lutheran church. We then drove around the busy Kariakoo district. After that, we drove to and visited the Village Museum, featuring numerous houses built in the style of various regions of Tanzania. For me, this was the highlight of the tour as we also enjoyed a performance of Tanzanian music and dancing. Following lunch, we drove to the Msasani Peninsula and had a stroll around the relaxed Slipway district. Saed was friendly and very easy to talk to. I would definitely recommend this tour to anybody wanting to discover this interesting city.
Wonderful full day private tour with Saed. He is super knowledgeable about Dar Es Salaam and Tanzanian culture as a local. I was traveling alone and he planned our tour based off my personal interests. I would highly recommend, whether you’re in a group or traveling solo. Transportation was very clean and comfortable and communication/coordination was very easy.
If you want a very precise experience on the history & culture of Dar Es Salaam, I recommend booking this tour. The past mixed with the present is a perfect blend to leave you speechless. The location of the city & it’s importance to the continent & world is very amazing. The fishing talent is mind blowing
Fantastic guide taking us around in the city of Dar es Salaam .Such a friendly and knowledgeable guide, absolutely an amazing and memorable day. Having private tours adds so much more quality to the whole experience. We warmly recommend
Never have I experienced a city where everything pulls you in and says welcome. Dar es Salaam is that city from the people that we encountered, to the beautiful beaches, the delicious food also, last but not least our wonderful, devoted, caring tour guide and driver Said. Said main objectives were to make sure we had fun and know and enjoy the history and culture of Tanzania. Said was very knowledgeable and although his first language is Swahili his English was superb. We had the most wonderful time and I would highly recommend him for this tour.
El tour por Dar Es Salaam fué extraordinario, pude conocer la vida diaria de esta ciudad. El guia Saed es excelente, siempre atento, dando explicaciones y cuudando cada detalle. 10 de 10, ampliamente recomendado.
An incredibly good guide made this an unforgettable day with lots of knowledge, colors, happier people, and fish (🙂), as well as a lovely lunch in the end.
The day trip in Dar es Salaam was overall very pleasant. The pickup was extremely punctual at the hotel, and the driver/guide was a very nice and sympathetic guy. The car was high quality, clean and comfortable, which made the ride very enjoyable. The program was interesting, but unfortunately the visit to the Tingatinga Art Center and the one-hour stay at Kariakoo Market were skipped – that was a bit of a shame. Price-wise, the private excursion was absolutely fine, and the highlight was clearly the lively fish market, which offered an authentic insight into local life. Overall a recommended excursion with small reductions in the program.
Good communication, timely hotel pickup, morning fish market, big market, national museum, embassy district and great restaurant with local cuisine visited. Was a nice, relaxed tour with a friendly guide. Highly recommended.
We had a fantastic experience in Der es salaam, and special roof being Yahya who was absolutely fantastic tour guide. He shared with us a lot of knowledge about the city and living in a beautiful city like this, in a good mood and availability, always attentive and caring. Thanks to him, we have learned a lot about the city and history of what really represents the city.
