Our guide Maselino and driver were very punctual and professional. We got an excellent guide through the popular and historical sites including the crazy busy fish market with every possible fish you could imagine, the Lutheran church bell tower, the market, and Askari square. The village museum was a cultural experience on some of Tanzania important tribes.
My wife and I recently completed a city tour of Dar es Salaam and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We visited interesting places, witnessed the daily lives of the locals, and enjoyed local foods. It was great to be able to explore the city at our own pace.
My wife and I had a wonderful day touring Dar es Salaam last month. Our guide and driver went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. Both were kind, attentive, knowledgeable and respectful. We saw so much of the city and appreciated the care they took in showing it to us. Our driver made us feel safe throughout the day, and our guide spoke clear English and was easy to understand. We had a great time and highly recommend this tour!
Great day with perfect organisation by Thomas. Many thanks to the whole team of Envoyage Tanzania. We enjoyed peacefully our day trip. Highly recommend this day trip.
Our trip to Dar es Salaam was a great experience. Although the city seemed busy and vibrant, we also found plenty of quiet places to relax. We especially loved the coastal views and the local atmosphere.
My wife and I had a lovely day exploring Dar es Salaam. We had been curious to see what the city was like, and the private tour gave us a good introduction. We visited different parts of the city, saw some interesting landmarks, and enjoyed learning about the local culture. Overall, it was a relaxed and worthwhile experience that was properly organized by Envoyage Tanzania.
I only had one day in Dar es Salaam, and this private city tour with Envoyage Tanzania was special journey. Guide Joel was very expert and knowledgeable, he explained everything beautifully. The local food at lunch was delicious and fresh. Exploring Dar es Salaam at the end of the day was very lively for me which I will never forget.
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the area, and after discussing our wishes, took us on a journey to the fish market (amazing!), and to a carver and bead weaver from whom we purchased several lovely items as souvenirs. While we felt a little pressure from the sellers, we negotiated easily and came away feeling good about our purchases and memories. We took a detour and went to several jewelry stores, We stopped at a Catholic Church and climbed all the up to the bell tower for a beautiful view of Dar es Salaam. Our guide brought us to a shopping mall upon our request because we did need to purchase an additional piece of luggage. Because our guide was bringing us to the airport right after the tour, he and the driver had packed all of our luggage in the trunk of the car. As time was a bit tight toward the end, we hilariously opened the wheeled duffel in the back seat and packed it with things that we had to transfer from our packed luggage. Our guide also purchased a bag lunch for us (delicious- still warm) and we ate it on the way to the airport. All in all, a wonderful day!
I did the night tour version and it was great. I told them to bring me to authentic places and not the touristy places and that they did. I went to a very very local bar, gathering, club, and one modern but authentic bar. I also ate the typical pre- drinking food and drunk food and had a blast. The tour guide Maselino and the driver Mr. Tabuya where extremely professional knowledgeable and the best part were they made the experience so much more fun. I Highly recommend this for anyone who wants to experience the nightlife of Dar es Salaam.
Highly recommend this company as they have satisfied what I wanted to do on the tour AND they have made a customised tour for me. Also Maselino, the tour guide, is great where he is extremely knowledgeable, professional and hospitable but also understands customer service. The driver was also very friendly and professional. Again, I highly recommend this company not just for this tour but any type of tour in Tanzania.
I’ll be short, but honest. Thomas, the organizer, was polite and professional. Maselino, the guide, was personable, accommodating, pleasant to talk to, communicative, attentive and competent. His English was phenomenal. Good vibes. Good guide-customer match. Lucky me! I didn’t pay for this booking through TripAdvisor.
Our full day trip in der es salaam was fantastic and peaceful. The combination of culture, food, and ocean breeze made it unforgettable. We began our day in Dar es Salaam at Kariakoo Market, where every corner was alive with color, chatter, and the aroma of fresh produce. Handmade crafts and local textiles caught our eyes as we navigated the bustling lanes. A short drive took us to the Askari Monument, where history whispered through its elegant structure. At the National Museum, we marveled at ancient artifacts and fossils, connecting deeply with Tanzania’s rich past. Lunch by the coast treated us to succulent grilled fish and coconut rice. Later, we wandered through Slipway, enjoying boutique shopping and gallery visits. Our day ended at Coco Beach, watching waves glisten under the afternoon sun
Dar es Salaam showed us the heart of Tanzania’s urban life. The mix of old and new, from colonial buildings to modern shops, created a unique atmosphere. Our guide’s stories brought the city’s history alive, and sharing these moments with close friends made the experience unforgettable. A city tour that opened our eyes and hearts.
Envoyage Tanzania was very professional. They communicated the day before pickup and the pickup was pretty much on time. Our full-day guide spoke well. We were supposed to just pass by St Joseph but we did a long stop; ditto for the Askari monument. We greatly appreciated the Lutheran Church visit as well as the Village Museum, which gave us a great glimpse into the different regions of Tanzania. My wife was able to get a souvenir piece from the Mwenge woodcarvers market so that was a valuable stop. We were also impressed with the War Cemetery. It was unfortunate that the National Museum was closed on that day. We also somehow skipped the visit to DARCH and just passed by Coco Beach. Still, despite the omissions, we believe we saw a lot of Dar Es Salaam.
My one day Envoyage Tanzania in Dar es Salaam was a beautiful mix of culture, chaos, and calm. The day began with a tuk-tuk ride through busy streets, where every corner had its own rhythm. I explored the historic Askari Monument, then wandered into the old alleys of the city center, feeling the blend of Swahili and colonial charm. Lunchtime was a treat with fresh seafood by the harbor. In the afternoon, I found peace at the Village Museum, walking among traditional huts and learning tribal stories. As the sun dipped, I enjoyed street music and coconut juice along the Msasani waterfront. Dar es Salaam lived up to its meaning-Haven of Peace.
After the wild safari, we spent a full day exploring Dar es Salaam through a private city tour, and it turned out to be a colorful and enriching experience. The city is a blend of African, Arab, and Indian influences, and our guide ensured we saw the heart of it all. We started with a visit to the Kariakoo Market, a bustling local market where the real daily life of Tanzanians can be felt. The sights, sounds, and aromas were overwhelming but fascinating. Next, we visited historical spots like the Askari Monument and the National Museum, which gave us insights into Tanzania's colonial past and cultural heritage.
Spending a full day exploring Dar es Salaam with my father was more than a tour, it was a shared journey through history, culture, and quiet moments that will stay with us forever. Our guide (Maselino) greeted us early with a genuine smile and a thoughtful plan tailored to our interests. We began at the National Museum, where we learned about Tanzania’s deep cultural roots and colonial history. My father especially enjoyed the exhibits related to human evolution and traditional tribal tools. We also visited at the Askari Monument, where my father stood in silence, reflecting on the city's colonial past. That moment set the tone-it wasn't just about seeing places, but feeling them. We ended the day with a delicious Swahili lunch at a local restaurant, a real highlight with flavorful dishes like pilau and grilled fish. The entire tour felt very personal and well-organized by Envoyage Tanzania Team.
My friends and me spent a full day exploring Dar es Salaam, and honestly, we didn’t expect it to be this fun. We started with no fixed plan just good vibes, a full battery, and an open mind. The city welcomed us with noise, colors, and warm faces. We found ourselves walking through local streets, stopping randomly to try street food and check out small shops. The mix of cultures in the city is amazing-Swahili, Indian, Arab-it’s all there, and you can feel it in the air, the buildings, and the food. No rush, no noise, just the sound of waves and a peaceful feeling that’s hard to find in busy cities.
We had a great time exploring Dar es Salaam on a private full-day tour with Envoyage Tanzania. Our guide Maselino was helpful and made sure everything went smoothly. We visited key spots like the National Museum, local markets, and stopped by the waterfront. We loved seeing the mix of culture, history, and everyday life. It was a fun and comfortable way to see the city in one day. We appreciate team Envoyage. We just want to say that they are perfect for anyone who wants to see the real Dar es Salaam in a short time.
It was my very short trip with them. The Envoyage team seemed very hardworking. They took me to visit the most beautiful places of the Dar es Salaam in their private vehicle. They were very polite and courteous. Even though it was a short trip, it will remain in my heart forever.
Out tour guide Maselino was very knowledgeable and friendly. He accommodated all our requests and made sure we would get the best out of our visit to Dar es Salaam.
I had a wonderful experience! From exploring the vibrant sights of downtown Dar Es Salaam to enjoying fresh, locally spiced seafood at the market—every moment was memorable. The Tingatinga art tour was a true cultural immersion, with the chance to meet talented artists and choose from a wide range of beautiful pieces. A special thanks to my host, Moselino, who was exceptionally accommodating, even with last-minute itinerary changes due to flight delays. Highly recommended!
This is a great tour to get to know Dar Es Salaam. The start time was an easy nine am, lasted most of the day, and in the words of a colleague who lives here "you know Dar better than I do!" Maselino was a great host. Very knowledgeable!
My adult son and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour. It was a perfect overview of Dar es Salaam particularly as we had one day to tour. Mr Moselino shared so much information. He was very accommodating and helped me with my mobility issues which was much appreciated. Our driver made us feel very safe as we negotiated the streets of Dar es Salaam. There was good communication before and after the tour.
This tour gave us a good overall view of Dar es Salaam. Our guide Erick was an excellent "host" who gave us just the right amount of information and was unfailingly patient with my frequent requests for photo stops.
*Review* With a free day from Zanzibar, this city tour was an incredible experience. Our guide, Mr. Erick, was fantastic—knowledgeable, friendly, and approachable. He showed us various parts of the city with a well-organized itinerary, and the food was excellent. I highly recommend the Dar es Salaam City Tour with Envoyage Tanzania—it’s worth every moment!
A wonderful way to experience the sites of Dar es Salaam. Our tour guide Erik was extremely knowledgeable and very easy to understand. Erik made sure we were comfortable throughout the day, and customized the tour to fit our desires. He even made time for us to stop at the post office and bank.
1 of the best tours we did in Tanzania so far. So professionale, good spots, a lot of info and great place to eat. The guide was amazing
on this excellent day tour we experienced the history, culture, and the hustle and bustle of this large city with our Envoyage Tanzania guide, Marselino. He was an amazingly knowledgeable guide with excellent English and always polite, helpful and courteous. Marselino took us through all the important places, including the very busy fish market and the packed with people and vehicles central trading area of the city. It was all very fascinating. We can highly recommend this tour. Thank you for guiding us so well.
A great way to explore Dar es Salaam. Our guide Thomas was great. The fish market is wild and a must see.
Right on time, my Guide Erick picked me up at the hotel. He showed me around Dar and was very knowledgeable about the city´s history and society in Tanzania. We visited the fish market, several churches, markets and the village museum. Throughout the entire day, we never ran out of conversation topics. He was attentive to my desires and needs, and I thoroughly enjoyed spending the day with him and learning about Dar. Thank you to Envoyage Tanzania and Erick!
I did a one day tour in Dar Es Salaam with Envoyage Tanzania and it was absolutely amazing! We could enjoy the highlights of the city with a guide that knew a lot about the history of the city. Thomas was very friendly and has a very good vibe. Would defenetely recommend it!
Went on the Dar Es Salaam city tour with Erick - absolutely fantastic!!! I would give this a higher rating if I could. Erick was extremely knowledgeable, able to tell me about anything I asked, and flexible with the timings of every stop. From the moment the tour started, it was as if I was being shown around by an old friend! We saw some amazing sites, got beautiful views of the city (and managed to get some great photos thanks to Erick!), learnt a lot about everyday life in Dar Es Salaam, as well as the history of the city and the different tribes that make up modern Tanzania, and ate some delicious food!! If anyone ever tells me they're coming to Tanzania, the first thing I will recommend will be Envoyage Tours!!
We had few days to spare in Dar es Salaam before heading back to Romania and decided to take a trip around the city. Fair to say Envoyage Tanzania made this city tour really exciting, Mr. Eric our guide took us to some really enjoyable spots. This city has much more to offer than it looks. We sure visit again next time we are here.
We had a chance to participate in this tour when our cruise Norwegian Dawn docked on Dar city port. It was quite enjoyable, the weather and food got me about this city. And our guide Mr. Thomas was a friendly guy showed us various parts of the City, knowlegeable guy. It was awesome.
Big thanks to Thomas - our driver and tour guide! Was a great day with him taking us through all those exciting places by car and walking around - always providing great guidance and explanations. Was really fun and I can just recommend to anyone being new to Dar es Salaam.
Our tour guide Thomas was incredible. He was so knowledgeable and we had lovely conversation all day about each others cultures. However, you tried to pack too much in the day. We only drove by the beach and almost did not make it back to the cruise ship on time because of the traffic. Thomas did a wonderful job getting us back to the ship. You need to alter your tour to accommodate traffic and ship departure times
We had one two days in Dare salaam befor going to Serengeti in Arusha. So me and my girlfriend, decided to take this city trip. Our guide Mr. Gabriel, such a cool dude and excellent guide. My girl enjoyed this one
Enfim... Recomendo o passeio! Vale a pena e é possível visitar vários locais durante o dia.
