Great communication and logistics. Everything ran seamlessly. Driver picked us up on time. Met and transferred through airport in a professional and organised way. The safari itself was fabulous. We didn't see any cats but the huge number and variety of animals seen was wonderful. Our driver/guide was brilliant and knowledgeable. We were in early and left late. We were in Selous for about 10.5 hours. Lunch was yummy too! Would recommend and would go again.

Nyerere National Park is a newly established Park that is part of what is known as Selous Game Reserve; founded in 2019 and covers over 30,000 square kilometres and is now the largest National Park in Africa. The park boasts Tanzania's largest elephant population and many lions, leopards, African hunting dogs, buffaloes, and hippos. Species commonly seen are bushbucks, red and blue duikers, elands, hartebeests, hyenas, giraffes, oryx, reedbucks, impalas, waterbucks and zebras. This tour starts by departing from Zanzibar airport at 07h00, arriving at Selous Mtemere Airstrip at 08h00, received by our safari guide. Immediately you will start a safari game drive, sightseeing the game in the park, driving through the savannah and along the river and lakes—picnic lunch at lunchtime in a stunning location with a clear park view. Then you can go ahead with your journey exploring the African bushes before returning to the airstrip at around 16h00 for your scheduled flight back to Zanzibar.

There are several tour groups that provide safari tours, but this is the one that you should choose! I could not have asked for a more seamless and wonderful experience! I chose to do a one-day tour. I was picked up at my hotel early morning in Stone Town and taken to the airport in Zanzibar. There were many other people gathered in the cafe where I was told to wait but my driver contacted the right person associated with the tour and made sure she knew I was there so that I didn't get overlooked. When the time arrived, she led us thru the airport and we waited until our flight was ready. The plane lands directly in Neyerere National Park, and the safari begins. Our safari guide was enormously affable, knowledgeable and determined for us to get the most out of our safari, and he did a really great job of making sure we saw as much as was possible - we were able to see 4 of the big 5 (no rhinos), which was great, considering safaris are a crap shoot - the animals don't care that you're there to see them, and aren't guaranteed to be where expected/hoped to be. It's a very large area to search! A great lunch was provided, and we were back at it. I had the opportunity to speak to a few others who were there with other tours and we compared our pricing and experiences, and I was happy to walk away feeling like I had chosen really well with this tour group! At the end of the day, we were brought back to the airfield and flown back to Stone Town. There were only 2 hiccups on this day. One was that my morning driver was supposed to be at the airport to pick me up after the tour, but after waiting more than half an hour, I could not find him and I grabbed a taxi back to my hotel from the airport (there are many drivers there looking for fares, so it wasn't a big deal). And the other is that I didn't think to bring my evidence of travel insurance with me and was asked for it at re-entry at the Zanzibar airport. Fortunately, I had the email on my phone (which was at 3% battery!), but this is a reminder/warning to others - bring your evidence of travel insurance!!
Extremely well organised. Felt confident with the pilot. Guide knowledgeable and friendly. We seem loads of animals. Excellent trip!
Both my wife and I went on this tour with TUI who use Fisherman Tours Zanzibar. The day itself will be remembered for 3-things - a vehicle that didn’t restart when stopping to look at some zebra & being pushed along by another vehicle to jump start it; getting stuck in mud (Mister Chevvy the driver seemed inexperienced to me) ; front near side wheel bearing failing and awaiting on the side of a dirt road in the middle of a game reserve awaiting rescue! It did somewhat spoil the experience - the animals were abundant apart from the big cats; but no one saw any that day! We were rescued in the end by another private tour vehicle (assumed private as only two passengers enabling 6 of us to squeeze on board) and transferred to another to get us back to the air strip! Both vehicles were far better than ours - road worthy and much newer & hence better equipped. I did take issue with TUI on the following day about their vetting of providers of the service. Better maintenance would probably prevented both vehicle faults. The starter motor not engaging meant the car wouldn’t start (loud clicking noise heard when trying the ignition); as for the wheel bearing the issue was known as the driver was shaking the wheel at the breakfast stop. There was obviously some concern. A very bumpy day on & off road so be prepared to be thrown about - not recommended for someone recently having a hip replacement! Our experience was tarnished but I think it is important to state the day is well organised, guide (Mister Martin) very knowledgeable and speak good English (I suspect a guide could be supplied that speaks most languages). Biggest issue for my wife was the “outdoor” restroom (yes behind that bush) as there is no danger from animals! There was a Portaloo available at lunchtime; it wasn’t pleasant apparently! I guess the maintenance issue is all down to cost of repairs and loss of revenue when the car is off the road? I should have realised something was amiss when I saw the speedo wasn’t working; I suspect so the mileage was not added daily on the tours! I guess knowing your speed isn’t essential but mileage is a useful reminder for servicing!
We had a really good time! The guide was very knowledgeable and told us about everything we asked about. They went to all the animals we wanted to see
One of the most amazing days of our lives! The organisation was so efficient and we had the best driver (Shaban) and guide (Emile) that we could have hoped for. Managed to see an abundance of species but the standouts had to be the Elephants and Lions. A truly remarkable and heart-warming experience.
Want to thank Holly for one of the best excursions I’ve ever had - he managed to show us everyone who lives in the park during only 1-day excursion! We were lucky to see even big elephant family and pride of 12 lions just in 1 metre opposite to the Jeep! That is 10/10!
We did a days safari. Our guide was Kalisti who was fantastic, he was very informative, knew the area really well and was good fun. Water and soft drinks were provided for all day and lunch was great.
We had a one day trip there. Our guide Holly was really good. He showed us all the animals the park has to offer: Elephants, Lions. Buffalos, Giraffes, Hippos, Crocodiles and so much more. The day was perfect!
The safari tour was amazing, we got to see and experience the wild, beautiful nature of the Tanzanian savannah. Our tour guide Mr Martin was very friendly and knowledgeable and answered all of our questions easily. The tour guides really make sure that you have a great time and actually get to see as many of the animals as you can. I would highly recommend booking this experience!
Athumani the guide was great and listen and try to show us as much as he can and it was great!! Took care of us and it was a very good experience
Kalisti was our guide very informative. We saw 3 of the big 5 amazing experience. Kalisti was knowledgeable and informative. Thank you kalisti and the team for a fantastic day.
It was dream feeling to watch animals in their enviroment. The guide Kalisti made perfect job 😁 We saw three on the big five 😁
We did this beautiful safari tour guided by Kalisti. From the beginning until the end the tour was organized very well. We had a lot of fun and saw many different animals. Our guide gave us very interesting information about the nature and wildlife in the reserve. For us it was the first safari and we enjoyed it a lot. We will surely do a next one.
Thank you for a great adventure! So many animals, so many beautiful views and photos! The safari completely met our expectations, I recommend it for everyone😄
We had a safari with the guide Kalisti. The guide was super nice and gave us a lot of information. The whole day was very well organized. We were able to see lots of animals like lions, elephants, hippos and many more. We can 100% recommend the tour.
The tour was amazing. Our guide was Holle, he was great informative tour guide and professional driver! Hope I will do again Safari with Uwanda🙂
We had a wonderful tour with our guide Kalisti. He knew how he could show us the park and learned us a lot about the animals we saw. We are very greatful that Kalisti guided us trough the most wonderful park we know with almost all of the big 5.
For spending nearly $1000 for two of us to go on safari, this was not worth the money, as we spent only merely 4 hours looking for animals on the safari, and the remaining time was spent sitting in the airport waiting to fly to the park, eating lunch, and driving to get back to the airport. We saw very few animals, which I realize isn't always a guarantee, but of the "12 hours" the safari claimed to be, very little of the day was actually spent on safari, and was fairly disappointing for the amount of hard-earned money spent.
We went on a safari with Tomek on September 16th, it was the best experience we have ever had, we have never been so closer to the animals. Big thanks also to our driver Amani, he can tell so much about animals and is very funny. I can recommend everyone if they want to go on a safari, then only with Tomek.
We were on a trip organised by Tomasz Dworczyk - our awesome photographer and really nice guy. Our driver and guide was Ramadan - another great man. We felt safe with him, even next to lions. There was no place he couldn't get into, thanks to it we took many amazing photos. Also he has huge knowledge about Selous and animals living there. All drivers were well-coordinated, so we had info from others where to go to see animals and we didn't disturb each other.
It was amazing !!! Our trip was very special for me. Gus were wonderful. Thank you and good luck :) See you, I hope.
The safari guide team was very professional and committed. Guys with passion and great knowledge and skills. They doing everything to show you as many as possible. Ludwik, our driver, is not only a great driver but also knows everything about animal habits. Riding with him was so much fun. Big recommendation.
it was a wonderful day with amazing people! this adventure will be remembered by us for a long time! I recommend these people to everyone, they do their job great, thank you for so many positive emotions
t was an amazing experience. Tom is a super guy. Very positive and open. You feel like you are with a very good friend. The search for Lions and zebras was fruitful and ended with the amazing sight of a lion lying on a tree branch which is unheard of. Thanks for an amazing adventure and I can in good conscience recommend him as the adventure companion that this safari was for me.
My wife and I had the most incredible experience on the safari organized by Tomek in Tanzania. It was truly unforgettable! The wildlife encounters were breathtaking, and the knowledge and passion that Tomek and his team brought to the trip made it even more special. We can't recommend this safari enough – it was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure that we'll cherish forever. Can’t wait for the photos which Tomek did!
Safari with Tomek was the best part of our holiday on Zanzibar. Everything was excelent! We will always remember all those feeling, sunset, wind, wildness, animals, nature. Tomek did a great job with organisation. We didn't worry about anything. Big recommendation!
the best experience! Tomek creates a great atmosphere, we felt like we were on a wild hunt with him, he is the best!
We have been together with Ramadan ( great driver) and Tomek Dworczyk on the trip on 02.09. Safari was stunning experience. I am extremely satisfied. We have seen a lot of animals and we all have hundreds of photos.
The trip was amazing. All team from safari guides were very professional and you can see how much they love their job. They doing everything what they can to show you how beautiful is this place and animals. Dreams Come true. I recommend this trip to everyone who want to experience something wonderfull.
Fantastic Safari 🐘🦁🦓🐒🦒, amazing experience 👌. Tomek Dworczyk is the best . Breakfast and lunch were very tasty. High recommend 10/10.
Incredible experience I'll never forget for the rest of my life. Our driver had immense knowledge about animals and their habits. Riding with him was so much fun. Thank you!
It was amazing experience! Guides are very good drivers and they have very large knowledge. They were talking a lof of interesting stories about animal's life. Tomek Dworczyk is the best organizator and photographer! During the trip he took a lot of beautiful photos. Podróż za milion zdjęć!
The best trip! Driver had Big knowledge. Whats more We were very near to nature. Safe serices And friendly
Safari z Tomkiem =🧨PETARDA🧨. Najlepsza przygoda jaką do tej pory przeżyliśmy . Każdy powinien to zobaczyć na własne oczy 🤯
Our safari was an unforgettable experience! The park is breathtakingly beautiful – vast landscapes, impressive nature and many animals that we could observe up close. What was particularly great was how close we got to elephants, giraffes and even playful monkeys. The ride was quite rough – but that’s exactly what made it so charming and made for some laughs. Our guide Shedrack was very friendly, well informed and made the tour very pleasant. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen any lions or leopards, but that’s probably just part of the adventure of a real safari. Lunch wasn't my personal taste, but that was just a small minus. Overall, it was a unique experience that I can recommend to anyone who loves nature and animals!
Słonie, antylopy, lwy, hipopotamy, żyrafy i wiele innych.
Our safari at Selous Game Reserve was an absolutely impressive experience, which we rated 5 stars! From the very beginning we were accompanied by our exceptional guide who took care of our well-being with great commitment and passion. His knowledge of wildlife and nature was impressive and enriched our tour immensely. We were lucky enough to observe a variety of animals in their natural habitat, including elephants, lions, giraffes and many more. Every moment was unique and exciting, and our guide made sure we had the best sightings while always being safe. It was especially pleasing that our 3-year-old daughter also had a wonderful time. She was fascinated by the many animals and enjoyed the variety and excitement of the safari. Our guide was incredibly patient and empathetic so our daughter felt comfortable and safe all the time. We were particularly impressed by the way our guide responded to our questions and accompanied each observation with fascinating stories and details. His enthusiasm was infectious and made the experience very special. We recommend the safari at Selous Game Reserve to every nature and animal lover – and families with young children! Thanks to our guide, this tour became an unforgettable adventure that we will always carry in our hearts. Absolutely recommended and definitely a must for anyone who wants to experience wild Africa up close!
On top. Very good Guide who gets closer to animals. And very nice. I really recommend from the bottom of my heart. Thank you again.
Tomasz Dworczyk polecamy!!
To człowiek z pasją, niezwykle radosny i świetnie zorganizowany. Tomek zabierze Was na najdłuższe i najwspanialsze safarii które jest "MUST HAVE" jeśli będziesz na Zanzibarze. Polecam w 120% to nawet mało... Z całego serca polecam!!!
Unfortunately, there will be no oohs and aahs from me. 19/11/2023 safari with a photographer recommended so strongly by Tomek Dworczyk “Journey for a Million Photos”. I asked about the conditions, the weather, the quality of the photos and invariably I was told that everything would be at the highest level, and that even if it rains in Zanzibar, it does not mean that it will be the same in Selous. Meanwhile, it was raining like crazy - yes, I know you have no influence on the weather, but due to the frequent trips you organize, you can honestly inform that in case of rain, the animals will hide deep in the bush, and the drivers will stick only to the main road in the park, one with road signs informing, for example, about turns and on which trucks drive because they will be afraid of getting stuck in the mud also because of the condition of car engines. The thing about animals is that they avoid the main road. So what did we get for 450 euros per person? Transfer from and to the hotel, meal, a lot of rain, long, empty (without animals) and pointless drives on the main road, a herd of elephants on the opposite bank of a reservoir, hippos in an artificial reservoir created after gravel extraction , a hippos in another reservoir, three giraffes, a lot of warthogs and impalas, crocodile's eyes above the water surface, a few species of birds - weavers above an artificial reservoir, white herons also above it, a spotted eagle that flew somewhere in the bush, an eagle that I spotted on a tree and that was it. Photos? Rather poor quality. And now, just to make myself clear - my opinion refers to this particular safari, which I would not have booked if I had received an honest answer to the questions I asked during the conversation. I regret a lost day, which I could have spent in a much more interesting way than sitting in the car and banging around for well over half of the time planned for the safari on the main road, especially that after “my safari” I saw that the tour operator changed Selous to Mikumi due to the weather forecast. So he also could have offered it to us and above all his duty is to give an honest information so that the client can make a decision he will not regret. A great experience worth every penny. Memories will remain forever... Greetings to Tomek. If a safari from Zanzibar is just a trip worth a million photos!!!
An amazing experience in all aspects! Safari organization at the top! Tomek managed a difficult situation very well (plane crash) and quickly found other solutions (light plane). Seeing these animals live in their natural conditions will stay with me forever. I can't wait to see beautiful photos from Tomek! ;-)
It was a wonderful safari with Tomek. A guide and photographer, a man with passion. He told and explained the world of animals in a fantastic way. His team of pure off-road drivers drove perfectly close to the animals. We felt like guests of animals, respecting their home in the bush. The longest safari of all offered and wonderful photos taken by Tomek - this is what you expect from the safari of a lifetime!
Tomek is a super positive person. He takes great photos and his team of crazy Safari Gateway drivers know where to look for animals. If Safari, only with them!
It's an amazing adventure to see how these animals live in their natural environment, and they are practically at your fingertips, lions, giraffes and hippos... great organization, great drivers who know how not to scare the animals and respect them very much, Tomek is an amazing character, very positive energy and he takes great souvenirs, i.e. photos... and you have to experience them to load them on Safari! 👍👍👍👍👍 I recommend it to everyone.
I highly recommend it. A safari trip is a must during your stay in this magical country. An unforgettable adventure only possible with Safari Gateway. Great, passionate drivers and the best organizer, Tomek. We saw every possible animal. A wonderful experience to have all these animals at your fingertips.
