Dar Es Salaam Old Town Walking And Food Tour With Transfers

I had an amazing time and learnt so much from my guide Ema (Emmanuel). Walking through the streets on the Old Town provided great historical insight while the food tasting was the highlight for me. Savory, spicy, sweet or local, all the food was devoured. I cannot stress on how much I enjoyed this tour and as such highly recommend doing it.

This walking tour literally gives you a taste of the real Dar es Salaam. We got to learn a little history of Tanzania whilst experiencing a variety of sights, smells and flavours. Make sure you leave plenty of room for street food. This is not a tour for those of sensitive disposition - your senses will be overloaded by the smell of the fish market and the variety of street food on offer.

We had an amazing food tour in Zanzibar! It was the perfect way to experience the island’s culture through its incredible cuisine. Every stop offered something unique, and the food was fresh, flavorful, and authentic. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and took the time to explain the history behind the dishes and local ingredients, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We never felt rushed, and the tour was well organized from start to finish. If you’re visiting Zanzibar and want to experience the local food scene beyond the typical tourist spots, I highly recommend this tour. It was one of the highlights of our trip!

Had an awesome time on this tour. Aqueel met me at my hotel and got everything started off without a hitch. Emmanuel was my main guide and did a fantastic job showing me around Old Town. He was friendly, easy to talk to, and shared a lot of interesting information about the area without making it feel like a history lecture. The food was amazing. My two favorite stops were the Zanzibar Mix and the chicken stop. I honestly don't know how to describe the flavor of the Zanzibar Mix to someone who has never had it before, but it was really good and unlike anything I've tried before. The chicken was also outstanding. They brought out all kinds of sauces to go with it, but the chicken was so flavorful and juicy that it really didn't need any sauce at all. I ended up using the sauces mostly to dip my french fries just so I could try them. And I can't forget the ice cream stop at the end. It was the perfect way to wrap up the tour, especially after walking around in the Dar es Salaam heat. What really stood out was how welcoming everyone was. Aqueel and Emmanuel were both incredibly friendly and made the whole experience feel relaxed and personal. It felt less like a tour and more like being shown around by friends who were proud of their city. One piece of advice: wear a good pair of walking shoes. You'll be on your feet quite a bit, and you'll enjoy the experience a lot more if you're comfortable. If you're visiting Dar es Salaam, I definitely recommend this tour. Great food, great people, and a fun way to see the city.

The tour and guide were fantastic! Hotel collection and drop off also great. Emmanuel was incredibly knowledgeable and really friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed the city tour, and the food was delicious and great to try new dishes. The fish market was particularly interesting I thought, and Emmanuel ensured I saw and learnt loads. A great introduction to the old parts of Dar and the street food. It's a noisy, dusty and hot experience, but you get a great sense of what life is like for the people working and living in the district as well as the history of several of the major buildings. The food tour element was great fun (bring an appetite, the food is delicious!) and provides more insights into life of the people living in the area, which is a true melting pot of traditions and religions. We really enjoyed it.

The tour was excellent and get to try restaurants that you wouldn’t expect to go to during your trip in Tanzania. A tour that you must book if you’re in Dar es Salaam.

Oh my goodness. What an amazing experience. Started with a small walking tour that gave a brief glimps into the history of Dar es Salaam. And then into areas of diverse food culture. Fruits, Street pastry's, cane sugar juice.. the most authentic chai I've had outside of India, At KT. A local place that is a highlight. Samosas. And soo much more. These two are absolutely amazing. Knowledgeable about history and culture. And genuinely kind people. They want to make your experience amazing. We were able to go on a Sunday morning. So traffic is manageable and walking is easy.

We really enjoyed the city and food tour. We learned about the history of the old town and then started the food tour. We enjoyed delicious food from several places that is where the locals eat. This was a great introduction to the city and I highly recommend the tour.

Incredible experience! The guides were very informative. We started out with a wonderful walking tour of the city center, stopping at many landmarks. We heard about the history and culture of Tanzania. Then we went to multiple food stands to try various dishes at the places that locals go to. Definitely enough food to get very full by the end! Also as a woman, I felt safe the entire time and loved how friendly and professional the guides were.

The tour was amazing! We discovered Dar es Salaam’s old town in such a unique way. The timing was perfect, and watching the sunset over the harbor from the rooftop was a real highlight. Our guide was super friendly and shared lots of interesting stories. The food was fantastic – authentic, fresh street food we wouldn’t have tried on our own. We really loved this tour! The length was perfect — we got to see and experience a lot without it feeling too long. A highlight was going up to the rooftop, where we could enjoy an amazing view of the harbor and the city skyline during sunset. Our guide was very kind and friendly, and shared lots of interesting stories about the city and its culture. The food was absolutely delicious — exactly what you imagine when you think of real street food. We probably wouldn’t have gone to these food stalls on our own, but after this tour we’d definitely go back to buy the food again because it was so tasty and authentic!
