Cbd Hotel

We were influenced by many of the extremely positive reviews we read online for this place, but this is one situation where I came away convinced that a large number of prior reviews were fake. My honest take is this: like other hotels at this price point in Dar es Salaam, this is a 4 star hotel that is feeling a bit tired and dated. In general, staff are friendly, but the first room we were allocated had a strong smell of tobacco (despite being no smoking), and we had to ask 3 different people before we were moved to another one. Photos of the pool figure prominently in the online listings, but it is just a few metres away from a busy highway and is not somewhere you want to relax. The one really positive point about the hotel is the EXCELLENT onsite Indian restaurant, which non-guests appear to come to the hotel especially for at lunchtime. It's rare that I want to eat in a hotel restaurant so it was exceptional for me to eat here three days in a row. It's not a terrible place to stay, but I hope this is a more honest assessment.
