Endangered Monkeys Watching - Red Shanked Douc Langurs

Cillian was an amazing guide and I had a private tour that day - as soon as we entered the nature reserve we already saw the first monkeys. A great experiance!

Amazing moment in Son tra peninsula observing the monkeys. Cillian & Leo picked us up at our hotel at 5.45 am and drove us to Son tra with motorbikes. We were lucky to discover 3 differents groups of monkeys. It was magical and unforgettable. Cillian and Leo took some beautiful photos and kindly send them to us. This was an amazing tour! Our guide, Cillian, was so good at spotting the monkeys. We wouldn’t have been able to see the monkeys if we had gone without him. The scenic rides and views in addition to seeing a bunch of monkeys are also well worth the price! He also took professional photos of the monkeys we saw and sent them to us. Cillian was my guide who promptly picked me up from my hotel with some very safe and skillful scooter riding up into the magical monkey mountains of Son Tra . We found a family of Langurs very quickly that where fun to watch with binoculars, lots of photos and a few family groups . Would highly recommend for an escape of the city hustle and bustle with some nature thrown in

It was a very nice experience! We saw a lot of monkeys, including some babies 😊 The tour guides Alan and Leo were very good! They helped us in taking some really good pictures of the monkeys! They also allowed us that our group took both bikes and a car(for those who didn't want to ride a bike)

Cillian and Dylan picked us up with scooter from our hotel this morning, and we saw several families of langurs! The langurs have such a beautiful color! What a wonderful way to start our day in Danang.

I was completely satisfied with this trip. Alan guided me around the Son Tra Peninsula by motorbike, and it was a great experience. Since Alan is also a photographer himself, he understands what photographers are looking for. He carefully chooses locations while considering the composition and background, not just where we can find the langurs. He is also very knowledgeable and was happy to share information with me in English throughout the trip. Whether your goal is simply to see the Red-shanked Douc Langurs or to photograph them, I highly recommend Alan. He is a great guide, especially for photographers.

It was absolutely worth it to wake up at 6:00am to see the monkeys, the monkeys are rare unlike anything we've seen, even more beautiful to see in person. The tour guides are amazing. We had such a great time on this three-hour tour. Our two guides picked us up directly from our hotel and took each of us by motorbike to the Sơn Trà Peninsula. The ride itself was already a lot of fun, and both guides were super friendly, easy-going and clearly really passionate about the animals. We still don’t understand how they spotted the red-shanked doucs so quickly! They would point into what looked like a huge wall of green, while we sometimes needed several minutes to finally find the monkeys between all the leaves. Without them, we probably wouldn’t have seen much at all – but instead we saw so many, including young ones! What we especially loved was that the tour never felt like they were simply going through the motions. They seemed genuinely excited whenever they found another group and really wanted to make sure we got a good look. It rained quite a bit, but honestly, that just made the whole experience feel even more like an adventure. Definitely one of the highlights of our Vietnam trip. Thank you both for such a lovely and memorable afternoon!

We had an unforgettable wildlife experience, seeing the critically endangered Red-Shanked Douc Langurs in their natural habitat on Son Tra Peninsula. This is an absolute must-do in Monkey Mountain. Often called the "queen of primates," their vibrant red legs, white forearms, golden faces, and long white tails make them breathtakingly colorful. Watching these peaceful leaf-eaters forage and leap through the high canopy on Monkey Mountain feels deeply special and rare. The tour offers gorgeous views of the sea, lush greenery, and the surrounding coastline far away from city noise. Cillian has an unbelievable eye for wildlife and managed to spot multiple groups of langurs that we would have completely missed on our own. He is friendly, engaging, and shares fascinating insights about monkey behavior and local conservation efforts. Equipped with binoculars and professional guidance, Cillian made the entire safari safe, smooth, and educational from start to finish.

I had a fantastic experience with the Endangered Monkeys Watching – Red Shanked Douc Langurs tour. As a solo traveller, it was such a special way to explore the Mountain and see these incredible animals in their natural environment. My guide, Alan, was great. He picked me up from my hotel right on time and was friendly, knowledgeable and informative throughout the tour. He was took the time to explain more about their behaviour and the importance of protecting them. Seeing these beautiful monkeys in the wild was absolutely amazing. Their colourful markings, almost porcelain-like faces and incredibly mesmerising eyes make them truly unforgettable. Being high up on Monkey Mountain, surrounded by the beautiful scenery while watching them in the trees, was beautiful. I would highly recommend this tour, especially if you're interested in wildlife and want to experience something a little different. Alan was a fantastic guide and made the whole experience enjoyable, relaxed and memorable. 🐒🌿❤️

Fantastic Morning Monkey Trek 🐒 The early morning was definitely the best option, helping us beat the crowds and enjoy the cooler air. Our guide, Cillian, was absolutely lovely and incredibly knowledgeable. He knew so much about the monkeys and their environment, which made the experience even more interesting. We were lucky enough to see plenty of monkeys, and they came surprisingly close, giving us some fantastic views. Cillian also took lots of photos throughout the morning and later sent them to us via WhatsApp. The quality of the photos was fantastic and such a lovely bonus to have these memories to take home. The binoculars provided were also excellent quality and really added to the experience, allowing us to get an even better look at the monkeys. Overall, it was a fantastic morning and a brilliant experience from start to finish. We would definitely recommend doing the early morning tour — and if you’re lucky enough to have Cillian as your guide, you’re in for a real treat!

We did this tour today and absolutely loved it! Our guides, Alan and Luke, picked us up right on time at 5:30 AM. The motorbike ride was safe and already a great experience, especially riding along the coast at sunrise towards the Son Tra Peninsula. Soon after arriving, we spotted the first rare Red-shanked Douc Langurs. Alan and Luke gave us binoculars and explained a lot about the monkeys, their behavior and the surrounding nature. We stopped whenever we wanted or whenever they spotted something interesting. Everything was relaxed, well organized and never rushed. One of them also had a professional camera with a large zoom lens and took incredible photos, which were sent to us afterwards. If you love nature and wildlife and want a special experience close to Da Nang, we highly recommend this tour. Thank you, Alan and Luke! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The pick-up and drop-off was very punctual and the motorcycle drove very steadily. The guide had a very good eye and could spot the monkey hidden in the tree at a glance. He also took pictures of the monkey with his camera and sent them to us. He also prepared a telescope for us. Monkeys are very beautiful, elegant and so cute.

We were lucky enough to see these incredible animals from very close, and they gave us lots of interesting information about the langurs and their habitat. They were also incredibly friendly and approachable, and we had some really interesting conversations throughout the trek. We were very lucky to see the langurs up close. Our guide Leo is informative and can spot the langurs very quickly. The view of the mountain is also beautiful. It’s incredible to see an endangered species chilling at a forest not far from the city. The tour is one of our highlights when visiting Da nang.

Our guide Leo was so attentive and thoughtful this was easily one of my favourite experiences I’ve ever done! We got to see so many monkeys and learnt about their work in conservation to protect this endangered species. They even sent us the photos they took on their professional cameras. Can’t recommend this enough!!

Very friendly and personable guides. They take photos on 50x camera to send to you, but you can also put your phone up to the binoculars yourself. Tons of monkeys, birds, and bugs. Loved it

Excellent sighting of the Douc Langur with Cillian RSDL Guide who is a great tracker and naturalist he was able to find 2 troops with adults and young ones and we had great sightings and photographs. It was an amazing experience and highly recommend this tour.

Cillian and Sean were our guides this morning. They were very friendly and knowledgeable about the monkeys! It was such a great experience and we even were given fresh local fruits! Cillian is an amazing photographer and took pictures of my girlfriend and I! I highly recommend the tour!

It was a surreal experience to come up close and personal with an endangered species in the wild. There are only approximately 3,000 red shanked douc langurs in the wild, of which almost half are in Son Tra Peninsula. I opted for a car instead of bike (for an additional 700,000 VND), which offered more comfort. The downside was that the tour had to stick to the main road, as opposed to the bike trail where sightings of the langurs were more likely. Nevertheless, my guide Alan tried his very best to look for the elusive langurs, and we managed to spot a few of them near InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort - I was elated. In this trip, we spotted a total of 2 mothers with babies, which was apparently quite rare. Alan was also very knowledgeable; he could answer my questions about the ecology (e.g. natural predators) and social behaviour of the langurs. He's an avid photographer himself, and had a collection of many interesting moments of the langurs (jumping, mating, peeing, etc.), which he would gladly show and share with clients. He also made sure that I got the best shots of the langurs. I would highly recommend this tour.

We went to see the Redshank langurs with Alan and Luke on two motorbikes. They arrived on time to pick us up and were excellent in helping us find the monkeys. In total we saw about 30 some were very close 6 to 10 meters away. The experience was excellent and I highly recommend the tour and our guides.

Leo is an excellent guide. We exchanged many emails beforehand, and he really took our preferences into account. Thanks to him, we saw plenty of langurs, and he gave us detailed explanations about their history and ecology. Absolutely amazing, very interesting and fascinating. Loved how respectful and patient the guides Alan and Luke have been. Magic was even in there eyes when one of the monkeys jumped or a baby showed its head. Highly recommended.

The tour was worth every penny!! My skilled tour guide, Cillian, managed to find three troops (about 20 langurs) through different noises they make and understanding their behaviors. Even with only the binoculars, the langurs were breathtaking!! I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to explore Danang beyond the beach!!

The tour was amazing, started with the guide who was very friendly and easy to talk to, picked me up by my hotell with a motorbike, and took the ride true the beach line where the sunrise was at its peak and just that was amazing on its own, on the tour we saw many monkeys and it was an amazing time watch dom in there natural habitat, the tour was with motorbike up and down the mountain and the view was amazing and we stoped for photos of the city at its best outlook, I was offered water and fruit and the guide also took some pictures for me on the monkeys while I was watching them and he also took some nice pictures on my self, after the guide he drew me back to the city where I was able to choose a location to go of, really nice and friendly Guid and I can strongly recommend every body to book him,

We had an amazing time with Cillian. We learned a lot about the langurs and had really great viewing! It was truly a highlight of our Vietnam trip.

A wonderful experience, we had several lengthy viewings of the titular monkeys from a close range. Even though it was our first time on motorbikes it was a calm ride through the scenic roadways around the mountain. Note that if you message them more than a day ahead they can arrange a car instead. I was surprised of the high quality of binoculars we were provided and I didn't even end up using the one I brought with me from home.

Tour was great overall. Pros: 1. Tour guides have knowledge, enthusiasm, and passion. 2. They also genuinely love the animals. 3. Tour guides enjoy being with their clients and want to meet their expectations. 4. They understand animal behavior and where to find the animals. They also point out other animals. 5. We went with them for 3 consecutive days, and they were on time every time. 6. They take pictures very well, and they share the pictures with their clients. Cons: 1. I think it is expensive for what it has to offer. But since the guides were so nice, we went with them 3 times. 2. The required helmets were smelly and not well disinfected. I think they should provide disinfectant wipes to clients, or the helmets need to be disinfected thoroughly between clients. I ended up bringing my own on the second day. Little things can make a huge difference in the overall tour experience. 3. One of the drivers on the first day (I’m not sure if he was also a tour guide or just a driver) smoked around us when we were in the jungle. I am very sensitive to the smell of cigarettes. I think that was not professional personally, especially our observation time with the animals were so short.
