The pool was overrun with unsupervised children, which was one of the main issues. It's not a relaxing pool that people can enjoy, when children are in every area with inflatables and screaming. The Lounge cushions weren't on the loungers, we had to source them to use- and they were dirty anyway. There was a constant fight for pool towels, we even had to use our room towels on the first day, when the pool staff told us they simply didn't have any. The lack of water, for both drinking and the kettle, was another big issue. Not being able to get any water from reception/the bar/housekeeping when they weren't replaced in the minibar that day, when all shops have closed, is very frustrating. Shower was good, no cold water from the sink tap, bed was comfortable enough, room size was ok, cleaners are very loud from 7am and we could hear them talking to each other plus on their radios outside our door. Laundry service was good, slightly expensive for the area but needed and quick service.
The staff behaved in a very immature and unprofessional. They were loud, disruptive, and acted more like middle school students. This level of behavior is completely unacceptable in a workplace and left a very poor impression. The hotel staff acted very unprofessionally. They kept laughing and talking among themselves while guests were around. It felt like they were not taking their job seriously. The staff seemed poorly trained and lacked basic customer service skills. Their behavior made the hotel feel unprofessional, and it was a very disappointing experience. The overall service felt immature and below the standard I expected from a hotel.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Only issue - there was one cockroach in my room (which housekeeping removed), and my friends found one or two in their rooms too. Great view from window, great location, about 15 mins drive from My Khe beach which is lovely. It also has a pool. The breakfast buffet was quite standard, nothing special, but nothing there to complain about. HOWEVER, STRONGER SAFETY MEASURES ARE REQUIRED - I saw a woman who looked intoxicated (not drunk, maybe a drug) go into the hotel with a man. They passed friends, who greeted the couple, despite the female seeming oblivious to being greeted. The man even said something to the receptionist before going up with the woman. I only didn’t bring this up to staff as they passed friends who greeted happily but walked straight past, but I wish I brought it up. Receptionists should’ve checked that the woman was okay, as anything could’ve happened when she went upstairs with the man (she wasn’t even walking properly by herself, he was holding her). Could staff check CCTV and check on that situation, as it’s actually traumatising for me that I didn’t bring this up to staff? It happened this week, a few days ago. I am very concerned for her wellbeing.
This one is hard to explain. Maybe think Ceausescuesque building, very big spaces, but a lot of that seems to be ballrooms for smokey local weddings, which created machine noise in our room on most days of our four day stay... Personnel might not be fully aware they're also running a hotel. The weirdest situation arose when trying to check out in the evening prior to en early morning departure... Apparently the staff is instructed never to trust customers' account of minibar use so we had to arrange an audit the following morning, with a car waiting... Also, a humongous hotel... But it has no bar??!! Breakfast was meager, coffee wasn't great. Probably the only place in Vietnam with mediocre food and coffee... Recommendation: pay a little more and stay near the beaches on the other side of the river, where hotels have the minimum amenities western travelers expect. This one isn't worth the money.
