Itinerary
One day before the tour, our team will provide you with all the necessary information and recommendations for your adventure. On the day of the tour, we’ll pick you up at your hotel in our private transportation and begin our journey through the South Valley. We’ll depart from Cusco and travel for approximately one hour to Tipón, our first stop of the day.
At Tipón, you’ll discover one of the most impressive examples of agricultural knowledge and hydraulic engineering developed by the Inca civilization. The archaeological complex features canals, terraces, and water fountains that demonstrate the Incas’ advanced understanding of water management and distribution. According to historians, Tipón may have served as a royal estate, with agricultural, residential, and ceremonial areas.
After exploring the impressive Inca ruins of Tipón, we’ll continue to Andahuaylillas, a small town known for its beautiful colonial architecture. We’ll visit the Church of San Pedro Apóstol, the main attraction in Andahuaylillas and one of the finest examples of colonial religious architecture in the region. The church is known for its distinctive Baroque architecture, as well as its beautiful religious paintings and murals. During the visit, your guide will explain its historical and cultural significance.
After our visit to the charming town of Andahuaylillas, we’ll continue to Huacarpay Lagoon, a beautiful natural setting surrounded by Andean landscapes. This is a peaceful place where you can enjoy the scenery, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and observe some of the bird species that inhabit the area.
Our next stop will be Pikillacta, an important pre-Inca urban center built by the Wari culture. During the visit, your guide will explain the origins of this archaeological site, its influence on the development of Andean civilizations, and its connection to the later expansion of the Inca civilization. The site features stone and adobe structures that demonstrate the advanced planning and organization of the Wari culture, which occupied the region before the rise of the Incas.
After completing our activities in the South Valley, we’ll begin our return journey to Cusco. At the end of the tour, we can drop you off at your hotel, as long as it is located within the central area of Cusco. Alternatively, if you prefer, we can drop you off at the Plaza de Armas, where you can have lunch at your own expense and enjoy some free time to explore more of the city. This is where our tour will end.

Três momentos da História peruana ilustrados "in loco". Serviço profissional da Equipe de Viagens Machu Picchu. Tempo adequado para um passeio de meio período. Van segura que busca e entrega no hotel em que estivemos hospedados.

Cusco and the Andean region have a lot to offer besides Machu Picchu. All the tours are very worthwhile, the Inca history is fascinating and our guide Fredy is clearly passionate about his ancestry, he knows everything and teaches us every detail.
A great trip, the Church of San Pedro de Andahuaylillas and the archaeological complex of Tipon are fantastic, it is very worth visiting. Try to take the tour with Guide Jim, a professor in Peruvian history, it's another level.
Our guide, Jim, was sensational. Besides being very polite and helpful, he gave us a real lesson on the history of the ancient peoples of Peru. Very interesting!
Very nice trip, the guide Jim was excellent in explaining each place we visited. A place worth visiting for those who like to know history.
Great guide Jim! Incredible experience.
Jim Guide great, he provided a lot of information, also very nice. Graduated in History provided valuable information
The Southern Valley of Cusco is a little-known tour, but it is very worthwhile to include in the itinerary. Rich in history, culture, and beautiful landscapes, it provides a true immersion in the Inca region and complements the experience of visiting Cusco and Machu Picchu very well. It's a relaxed half-day trip, with great value for money and that adds a lot to the trip.
Fred is one of the best guides I have ever had the opportunity to meet, attentive, broad knowledge, and lively
The car that takes us is very good! Guide Fred is extremely well-prepared and it is very good to hear the stories told by him. Incredible people!
We had a very rich experience with Fredy in Tipon, Andahuaylillas and the Church of San Pedro and at the Archaeological Site of Pikillacta. Everything very well explained, with many details about the history of the sites!
Very good to know the history and archaeological relevance of the sites visited. I recommend! The guide Fredy was very attentive and thorough in the explanations, removed all doubts, took photos of us, was a great tour for those who like history and curiosities.
Magical and pedagogical. I liked the richness of Peruvian culture
The guide Jim was exceptional! A trained historian, gave us a wealth of details that no other guide in the other 6 days of the tour delivered. 5 stars for him. But it's an absolutely expensive tour, in my opinion. If they had put Jim on other tours, we would have learned what we learned today by seeing the same kinds of constructions. As for the Agency, worst agency we've ever had. Bad hotels, zero schedule planning, hours and hours wasted sitting at train stations (because they try to save you by putting you on the last trains of the day), exhausting travel and zero comfort.
Pikillacta is one of the most amazing places I have ever visited. It was very worth it, definitely my second biggest recommendation after the machu picchu.
The tour was excellent! The entire culture of Impressive place. The guides demonstrate a lot of knowledge, with emphasis on the guide Fred.
Very good tour, very explaining and with very interesting information about the culture, history and the place. I recommend it to everyone. Our guide Fred was very helpful, attentive and explained everything very well. Travel completely without worries, all organized by the agency.
We went to Vale Sur in August/25 and it was amazing. Our DIPE guide from Machu Pichu Travel Agency brought relevant information to further enhance this experience, in addition to being very polite and attentive. Super recommend!
Very helpful and historian passed a lot of information about the places we visited. We passed a lot of knowledge, it was a learning.
Excellent places to visit and learn about the Inca culture and its ancestors, has very impressive views to take unforgettable photographs
I loved the trip, amazing landscapes, spectacular environments, there is a little more communication between the village and the tourist, good restaurants but the menu is flawed, we do not understand the dishes, drinks very expensive
The agency is excellent. Always clean new cars with helpful drivers. The guide sun is excellent very knowledgeable of history.
Great experience! Guide Fisher helped us to get to know the local stories! Beautiful landscapes and great photos for memory.
Landscapes, paths, stories. A very rich and meaningful experience. The Andean people, the Inca empire, their culture, intelligence and strength. Fischer (or little fish, as presented), a serious and full of content Guide. We indicate and recommend.
Beautiful landscapes, super competent and attentive Guide. Travel a bit tiring but worth it for the unique experience.
Our Guide Fischer was very attentive and responded to our longing for history and knowledge about the Inca buildings. We are very pleased.
Our tour of the South Valley was an incredible experience! We went with the Guide Soledad and the driver William who from the beginning were very helpful and attentive. We visited the church of St Peter the Apostle in Andahuaylillas, then we went to the archaeological park Pikillaqta (steep stairs in stone, middle difficulty climbing), Tipon (recommend to take a raincoat and short jacket wind, somewhat steep stone steps climbing), we went for a short lunch in the district of Saylla to enjoy local cuisine (not part of the lunch tour apart). I highly recommend Trips Machu Picchu!
Incredible tour. The Sol Guide was very helpful and presented us with many important and relevant information. The driver too, very kind. I definitely recommend this passed and the agency.
We met beautiful places, the photos were amazing and tourist Guide Sun is fantastic, attentive and very professional.
All wonderful! From the landscape, the history, the Trips guides,... all very good! I will come back other times and will indicate to friends!
We had the tour to the South Valley with the tour guide Solidade and we loved it! She explained everything to us with rich detail and always very careful. She and the entire team are congratulated! I highly recommend this tour the sights we visited were fantastic!
Amazing ride. History and knowledge side by side, the Solitude Guide is very knowledgeable and pleasant. The Guide is great. Congratulations to the professional of Machu Pichu Trips.
Isaías and Guia Soledad made us go through a unique experience in the Tipon and Pikillaqta ruins. My wife and I learned a lot about the culture and constructions of our ancestors in a clean, clear and predicted way. I highly recommend Soledad for her friendly presence and joy.
The tour was incredible! Our guide Soledad was very attentive, friendly, helpful and gave us a lot of knowledge about the places visited! The driver Isaías was also very attentive, punctual and friendly! I highly recommend the tour!
