Best guide Wilbert showed us around. Told us alot about the inka’s and about al the nature. He let us participate in one ceremony. Walberto made the best food, without all the fuel it was not possible. Defenitly would recomment machu picchu jungle.
We had a great time at the salkantay trek. Some parts of the hike were quite tough but manageable. Our guide was really kind, we felt safe and really good taken care of through the entire hike. We would recommend to get Machu Picchu tickets before starting the Tour. Otherwise you need good Energie!
Top experiences! Thanks Edison & Cesar!
Many thanks to our Guide Cesar and also to Edison.
Amazing experience during the Salkantay Trek and Machu Picchu! Our guide Edison was friendly, knowledgeable, and supportive throughout the journey. Everything was well organized, the views were breathtaking, and the whole experience was unforgettable. Highly recommended!
The Salkantay Trek was one of the highlights of our trip to Peru. Tough but absolutely worth it, with stunning views every day. Huge thanks to Edison for the great guidance, motivation and good vibes. 10/10, would do it again!
Salkantay trek is a once in a lifetime experience. Our guide Edison was very sweet and could answer all our questions and concerns.
Good experience with magnificent landschapes. Thank you to our guide Edison for supporting us all the way and answering all our questions.
Amazing trip with Edison and Caesar. Challenging Salkantay Trek ending at Machu Picchu was made better by the organization and amazing food provided by Edison and company.
The tour program is fragmented and there are many parts of it. I think this tour is better described as trekking to Aguas Caliente instead of Machu Picchu. Some people dont have the ticket and have to buy on site at the town and extend their trips for Machu Picchu separately. However the 4-5 days trekking was amazing and super intense. The guide Rodrigo, cook Herman were amazing with their services. Rodrigo provided first aid and carried me some parts of the trip when I got injured! The food was amazing the whole trip, Herman is so talented! I highly recommend booking with these people, however please be clearer with the itinerary and the program.
We were a group of 6 sexy Vicuñas doing the Salkantay Trek with Machu Picchu Jungle Trek Company. After booking i was able to contact them via Whatsapp and get all the information we needed before for the trip. We had the best time with our very best tour guide Wilbert (12/10! ) on the trek and were enjoying the amazing freshly cooked food our cook Climaco (12/10!) prepared for us every day. Both deserve a big round of applause for getting us through that adventure safely! It's been such a lovely experience and we were all happy to make new friends and special memories on the beautiful Salkantay Trek. Thank you!
Best group (Sexy Vicuñas), best tour guide (Wilbert) and best cook (Climaco) ever. Those 4 days were a lot of fun and I would definitely recommend it :)
it was really nice, Wilbert the guide was so nice with us and we really enjoyed this days trekking! thank you for everything, and thank you to Climaco our cooker for the wonderful meals !!
Had an incredible time on this trip I’ve never experienced anything like it. Rodrish was very entertaining and helpful through the whole trip really helped make it special
very great expérience, our guide Rodrigo was amazing, he took care of us even by distance by messages and calls! everything was well organized!
The experience is amazing! We had the best guide ever, Brayan, who is very patient and helpful, saved my toes when my shoes are wet through duting the trek to salkantay moutain, willing to share his experience and good stories. We also had a lot of fun together singing, playing football and laughing. Will miss our guide and buddies.
The 5 day Salkantay trek was one of the best experiences of my life! Our tour guide Bryan was amazing, he looked after us all during the trekking and was always around to answer any questions! He was super smiley and made the trek an amazing experience!
Amazing trekking, breathtaking landscapes, and the effort was definitely worth it. Regarding the company, communication was easy and they answered all my questions before the trek started, but they did withhold some important information. On the very first night, without anyone knowing beforehand, we were told when the rooms were being assigned that the cabins accommodated three people. For my group, this ultimately wasn’t a problem because we were six people who knew each other, but the rest of the group had all come in pairs or as couples, so this was very, very inconvenient. There was a couple over 50 in the group who would have had to share a cabin with a stranger. We therefore tried to arrange for them to have a cabin for four and another one for two so that they could stay on their own. The cabin for four was basically the same as the one for three, just with an extra bed, and the door could barely open because of that extra bed. This ultimately forced one couple to PAY extra to have a cabin just for themselves. When we expressed our frustration to our guide, Eddie, he said it had nothing to do with him and tried to contact the company, but the company did nothing. As for the food, in my opinion it wasn’t very good (although some people in the group enjoyed it), except for one or two dishes, and the portions were kept to the absolute minimum for the size of the group. There wasn’t much variety and the meals always revolved around the same ingredients. The hot water they brought us for tea wasn’t enough for the whole group, and when I asked the guide to bring more, he said no. I don’t think it makes sense to run short of food and drinks during meals on a $300 trek. They also don’t provide drinking water (they do warn you about this beforehand, but I still find it ridiculous) either during the trek or with any of the meals. The accommodation is acceptable. It’s not luxurious, but it is perfectly adequate and comfortable. Our guide was Eddie. Whenever there was a problem, he would ultimately ignore it and not help resolve it, simply saying that it was the company’s fault and leaving it at that. We had one person in the group who sprained their ankle, and on one or two occasions he adjusted the route to accommodate them. However, many times he wouldn’t stay at the back of the group in case something happened. In my opinion, the guide should be the last person in the group to make sure that nobody is left behind, gets injured, or needs help. The explanations about the places and things we were seeing along the trek were also very limited. Everything with the company came at an extra cost. Transporting the duffle bags back to Aguas Calientes was another 20 soles, unless you wanted them sent directly to Cusco (which had to be arranged one day before the trek ended). This was another piece of information that was not communicated to us beforehand. Not related to the company: Hot showers cost 10 soles. All the toilets along the way had to be paid for. Water was also an additional cost and was very expensive. I had asked Jungle and they told me I could buy water along the route for 5 soles. In the end, I was always paying between 10 and 15 soles. In conclusion, I highly recommend the trek itself, but I feel that the company was far from completely transparent, and the conditions provided were below what I would expect for a $300 trek.
The tour was amazing. Incredible views our guide Eddie was absolutely amazing. If it wasn’t for him I never would’ve finished the tour truly a life-changing experience. Definitely challenged both my body and my mind. ! Forced me to face my fear of heights ! The only negative feedback I have is the food. The portions are extremely small and there is very little protein or vitamins.. Which are both needed for this extremely arduous trek. Kirk Hefford RN
Very good experience! Varied and beautiful landscape and nature.
I had trouble with the question of picking who I went with. I arrived solo, met a few friends along the way, but by the end I had a whole new family. This trip was phenomenal to say the least. Truly a life changing experience and I can’t recommend it enough. Our guide Brayan was fantastic the whole time!
Salkantay trek was a real journey. The company had everything set up for the group and they was always ready to help. Brian is the best guide ever. Caring about everyone, funny, experienced, a really loving person. The family we created made all the difference
We had a great time! The tour was amazing, the food very delicious from our chef German and the accommodations were nice. Our Guide Abel was fantastic, he did a really good job!!
Fantastic! The food by Chef German was fantastic. The guide, Abel, was super professional , always available to help and resolved all the impromptu situations with great calm. 6 stars.
Excellent experience. Abel was a brilliant guide. He was very knowledgeable, considerate and supportive of the whole group. German prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner every day all of which was delicious. Highly recommend this tour was
Great food, great accommodation, we were really lucky to have such a social group. Abel and German were amazing, providing really valuable insights into the Peruvian culture and history of the spectacular land we were trekking through.
Great experience, Abel was a great guide, very friendly and explained a lot. The food cooked by German was tasty, authentic peruvian food and the pace of the tour in general was very well manageable, although there are parts that are physically demanding. The nature and the views were just amazing!
It was an amazing hike through the mountains. Our guide Abel was very kind and could explain us a lot about the history of the places we visited. Also big shout outs to our cook German, he did an amazing job, the food was always on point. Although it was partly just to much.
Our guide Abel was very kind, helpful and taught us a lot about Inca culture. Our cooker German provided very nice food. The service from both was excellent and I am very thankful to them both.
Machu Picchu Jungle tour gets 3 out of 5 stars from us. I will explain in detail per subject. First of all, the group. My girlfriend and I were coupled with 3 austrian girls who were friends and a solo Australian girl. Although the people in the group were really nice and we connected well, it was a bit on the small size to our liking. Our guide was Xavi, real name Luicito who I would recommend and give 4,5 stars. Xavi is a very nice person and made us feel comfortable the whole trek. He was funny, could speak english quite well and explained us a lot on Inka culture. He did get injured along the way but he managed to push through and even joined us with ziplining. The downside was that he could not join us with visiting Machu Picchu the last day as promised. He did not tell the agency and tried to fix a replacement guide but in the end we had to fix the guide ourselves which was not possible. Therefore we entered Machu Picchu on our own in our first circuit. Next, the food was really good. Herman, the cook, joined us along the way. Every day, we got for breakfast, lunch and dinner plenty, tasty and diverse food. The food gets a 5/5. Next to the three meals, you also get snacks when starting with the trek and at the end of the afternoon with tea. The last day in Aguas Calientes we ate twice at the same restaurant which had a limited menu. The agency itself did disappoint us a few times. The day before starting the trek, we found out that the agency did not buy us the tickets for the Machu Picchu mountain. We requested that and paid for it as well. We heard that we got our money back and had to buy them ourselves the day before we would go into Machu Picchu. When messaging the agency about it while on the trek, they suddenly said we did not buy the Machu Picchu mountain tickets, and I had to convince them that we did. I had to explain the situation to Xavi who called the agency and Xavi helped us in Aguas Calientes with buying the tickets. Xavi helped us well but of course this situation lowered our satisfaction during the trek. Also, we asked the supervisor if there was a possibility to sleep in an igloo dome. He said he would let us know if that was possible on the first night, but we did not have any signal which he could have known. Asking Xavi about it, Xavi was not aware of anything so in the end we did not sleep in any dome. The agency did help us out quite well when we let them know on the last day that we did not have a guide in Machu Picchu. The were sincerely sorry and surprised and made sure we got a guide on our second Machu Picchu entrance. Although the explanations of the replacement guide were a bit on the small size, we found it interesting and we walked up the mountain ourselves (which I understand as its quite a climb). Finally, a small but easy improvement: let people know that you need to bring the backpack to the briefing so you can store it immediately at the office instead of having to do that the same evening. Then the sleeping accommodations. We fully understand that these lodges are basic, and that also adds something to the experience. The first night me and my girlfriend got a private room and it was good. The common area was cozy with also other groups, but really cold especially after a day walking through rain. The second lodge was a big disappointment. The huts were fine, but the environment was really poor. The common area was an empty room with only a table and it felt like there was not put in a single unit of energy to make it cozy. We again understand these lodges are basic, but this is the day you walk for more than 10 hours and in the final town, you do walk by lodges that seem 10 times better. The sanitary also felt a bit gross. The biggest improvement would be to change this lodge for a better one. The third lodge was fine and the hotel on the fourth night was also fine. The Salkantay trek itself is a very nice trek but because of the weather we did not experience it in the best way. Every day we had a lot of rain but the nature you walk in still is magnificent. The first day you walk up to the Humantay lake. The lake is very beautiful but cold and we had poor sight because of the fog. Also the second day through the Salkantay pass, the fog limited the views which was disappointing. But the environment is amazing. Walking down and through the subtropical jungle was also very cool and the ziplining and hot spring activities were nice. The trek has got a lot of attention so it can be crowded with tourists. I can't compare prices that well with other organizations. We paid almost €500 per person (we went back by train and had two Machu Picchu circuits, a feather sleeping bag and hiking poles). On the trek you also pay for hot showers, Wi-Fi, drinks and activities but I reckon other companies charge you that too. Concluding, the company was okay but there may be better companies giving you a more satisfying experience.
Amazing experience with Brayan! Highly recommend this trip. The pace was very manageable and Brayan kept the energy and motivation high the entire time. The landscapes were nothing like I've ever seen before. The accommodation was basic but clean and comfortable. The highlight for me was the zip line on day 3. Anochio and Guillermo cooked us the most amazing authentic Peruvian food with fresh ingredients. I don't think we finished it all any night as there was always so much of it! The only recommendation I would make is to get the train back from Machu Picchu instead of the bus as there were several road closures so the bus journey was very delayed!
What an amazing trip. From start to finish the agency made it clear what we were doing and our guide Brayan went above and beyond for us. Anything we asked or any issues we dealt with, Brayan was none stop from start to finish. The food at each stop was amazing and cooked fresh. I cannot thank Brayan enough for how good he made the trip and how the group bonded as a family. Everything is possible, nothing is easy! Also - Rember toilet roll as you will need it as there is none at the check point toilets!
This trip was brilliant. Our guide, Brayan, was fantastic, creating a real family feel and keeping the energy high and positive at all times. I'll always remember that "everything is possible, nothing is easy"! The food was also ridiculously good with huge portions and fresh natural ingredients. Only thing that could be improved is that the logistics around bags and how to get them back to the operator were a little confusing. Overall a brilliant trip and amazing value for money!
Brayan was amazing. The best guide we could have had. Guillermo, aenochio and johnathan were great support too with the cooking and muleteering. The overall experience was one in a lifetime and I would recommend this trip to anyone. Brayans knowledge along the trek made it interesting along with his humour and motivation along the way.
The 4 day trek with this company was truly amazing. Credits to our guide Rodrigo (rodri) who has made this trip an unforgettable experience. Rodri was an active guide, who told us a lot about the history, made even more jokes and helped everybody to feel well and healthy during the entire trip. Special thanks to Rodri, a real legend. Also a big thanks to our chef Willie and the horseman Vladimir, who were also incredible in making sure we had a good time and helping us during the trip with food and resources. Big thanks to the whole team of Jungle Trek, I hope to be back one day and I will not forget this experience!
We had a rainy and windy experience. It was pretty hard, but Fredy was the super best tour guide!
The trek was incredible. Amazing vistas and the hike was super rewarding. Comfortable campsites with delicious food prepared by the chef. Our tour guide Rodri (aka Rocky Rodri) was the best. He even saved my life when I was almost smote down with altitude sickness. I would recommend.
Amazing experience would highly recommend! Rodrigo was our guide and he was excellent, very cheerful and helpful, especially when dealing with altitude sickness. The food was plentiful, authentic and very tasty! I also thoroughly enjoyed the coffee tour.
I did the 5 night / 4 day salkantay trek and had Guido as my guide and he was the best guide I’ve had on any hiking tour I’ve done. 5 stars to him he made the experience amazing and what I expected. The chef and food was top notch as well. All in all the experience was great!
Abel the guide was really helpful and nice. He was fantastic. Great organization of the tour and everything was explained before carefully. The food was exceptional and I just would improve the accomodation during the trekking tour.
10/10 amazing hike and experience. Food was unbelievable. Our guide eddy made the whole experience run smoothly and is a great man.
Great experience. The hikes and accommodation were very good. The guide Eddie made the experience super and helped in every way.
I had a great time, Will was an excellent guide and stuck with us for the full 5 days, telling us all about the history of Machu Picchu, the Quechua language, the Spanish and much more. The camps we stayed at were beautiful and the food that our chef, German cooked was excellent.
Wilbert was a fantastic guide, really knowledgeable and very charismatic the whole way round. Food was equally great with lots of variety, was a challenging but well paced trek and great experience
We had an amazing experience with Machu Picchu Jungle Trek. Our tour guide Fernandez was THE BEST!! He made the experience so amazing for our group, taught us so much about the history of the Incan / Quechua people, and made sure we were all safe and okay. The food was absolutely fantastic by our chef Fredo. The hike is definitely challenging, but this tour agency made the entire thing as comfortable as possible. Highly recommend (and request Fernandez if possible)!!
The 5 day Salkantay trek was made INCREDIBLE all because of Rodrigo (Mountain king) and his team. The experience was such a unique one, gifting us outstanding views, challenging treks, and great vibes throughout. The food provided by chef Lorenzo was near-Michelin level and we were always impressed/surprised by the diversity of the food. Our horsemen and the sous-chef we’re so kind and great to have supporting us. A real congratulations to Rodrigo for being the best guide we’ve had in all of South America; full of jokes, information, and tips and tricks for hiking. Overall, Salkantay was a great trek, one that everyone should do-but it was truely made special by Machu Picchu Jungle Trek. Thank you! Book with Rodrigo!!!!
Had such a great tour with Rodrigo as our guide he was very knowledgeable and helpful for the 5 days and also a lot of fun. I would highly recommend this trek to see incredible landscapes, learn about the culture and natural environment and to have lots of fun along the way. Including a great coffee tour, visiting the hot springs and having a fun night out with the group. Also the food was amazing throughout the trip thanks to our wonderful chef Lorenzo. Thank you Rodri (mountain king)
We had a great 5 day hike largely with our guide Edy. The hike was very well communicated by the head office and by the guide. My partner is vegetarian and I have a nut allergy which was well understood and there were no issues. The most remarkable part was the ceremony to Pachemama on the Salkantay Pass, where we all made a wish to Pachemama. Edy shared stories about his family gaining faith in Pachemama after a near tragedy with his brother. I loved the man’s smile, sense of humour and his ability to communicate with all of us in his 3rd language! Thanks Edy! Thanks for the experience of a lifetime!
Eddie was a fantastic guide and I had a blast. Food was very tasty from Lorenzo and the bags being transported by horse worked really perfectly.
