Frank was a knowledgeable, organized, professional guide. He made the experience incredible. The porter and chef were incredibly consistent. The food was second to none. Our personal items were always waiting for us at the destination. Would recommend a 100x over.

Itinerary
Day 1
1
The day starts very early, with hotel pickup in Cusco around 4:00–4:30 AM. We will head towards Mollepata, passing through towns like Anta and Limatambo, enjoying views of the valleys and Andes. After about 2 hours, we will stop for breakfast at a local restaurant in Mollepata, then continue another hour to Challacancha, the start of the trek, where you will have time to get organized. The first section is a gradual 1.5 hour uphill trek, perfect for acclimatization, until arriving at Soraypampa to stay at the Glass Cabañas, where a freshly prepared lunch will be served. In the afternoon, a 1.5 hour hike to Humantay Lagoon awaits, starting easy and becoming steeper near the lagoon. Enjoy the turquoise waters and glacier at 5,960 m, take photos, and soak in the scenery. Return to Soraypampa around 4:00 PM. The rest of the afternoon is free to relax or explore. In the evening, join a Peruvian cooking class, enjoy dinner, and spend your first night at the Glass Cabañas under the stars.
Day 2
2
Today is the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek. Breakfast is at 5:30 AM at the Glass Cabañas. After a hot breakfast and refilling water bottles, we start the hike to Salkantay Pass. The trek begins with a moderate uphill on a defined trail. After 2 hours, we reach Salkantay Pampa (4,100 m / 13,450 ft) to rest and enjoy glacier views. Then we climb about an hour on a steep zigzag path to Soyrococha, beneath Salkantay peak, where our chef serves a freshly prepared lunch. After lunch and refilling water, we continue for about an hour to reach Salkantay Pass (4,630 m / 15,190 ft), the trek’s highest point. Here we honor Pachamama and admire the snow-capped peaks and the Andes’ majesty. We descend for 2.5 hours to the green valley. Our destination is Wayracmachay camp (3,800 m / 12,467 ft), where we settle in the Glass Domes. Evening includes dinner and a cozy night under the starry sky.
Day 3
3
This day brings a dramatic change of scenery as we leave the high Andes and enter the lush high jungle, full of warm breezes, tropical vegetation, and wildlife. We start early with tea delivered to your room and breakfast, then pack snacks and fill water bottles before beginning the hike. The trail is mostly downhill. After about 2 hours, we reach Rayanpata, where the jungle begins, with warm air and tropical scents. A short break allows time to hydrate and enjoy the forest sounds. We continue 2 more hours to Colpapampa (2,950 m / 9,678 ft) for a jungle-inspired lunch prepared by our cook. After lunch, we hike approximately 4 more hours along narrow jungle paths, seeing waterfalls, orchids, and coffee fields, until arriving at Loreta, home to the unique Hobbit House. This eco-lodge has hot showers, soft bedding, and a magical forest environment — the perfect place to rest and enjoy the jungle sounds at the end of the day.
Day 4
4
Today is dedicated to culture, history, and nature as we follow the original Inca paths and glimpse Machu Picchu from a rare viewpoint. Breakfast is at the Hobbit House in Loreta under a lush canopy of trees, followed by a 30-minute drive to Lucmabamba to begin the hike. The uphill trek along a well-preserved Inca Trail takes about 4 hours, through forests of coffee, bananas, and avocados, with ancient stonework. We reach Llactapata (2,700 m / 8,861 ft), an archaeological site with panoramic views of Machu Picchu. Your guide provides a short tour. Then we descend 1.5 hours to Hidroelectrica for a freshly prepared lunch—the last with the trekking crew, a chance to tip or thank them. From Hidroelectrica, a 3-hour walk along the railway tracks through Machu Picchu canyon lets you spot orchids, butterflies, and possibly the Andean cock-of-the-rock, monkeys, or spectacled bears. Arrival at Aguas Calientes, check-in, hot shower, and rest for exploring Machu Picchu the next day.
Day 5
5
Your trekking team will wake you early with a hot drink to help you start the day. Afterward, get ready for today’s adventure and enjoy your final breakfast prepared by your trekking chef. The day's hike begins with a scenic 2-hour downhill trek, offering breathtaking views of Machu Picchu, leading you to the Hidroelectrica Station. One of the highlights of this area is the towering 300-meter natural waterfall, which provides electricity to the Cusco region. From Hidroelectrica Station, you'll continue to the famous Intiwatana (sun-dial rock). Historically, this Inca stone aligned with the sundial rock at Machu Picchu during the winter solstice, marking the start of a new agricultural season for the Incas. After visiting Intiwatana, you'll follow a pleasant walking path along the train tracks. Finally, you'll arrive in Aguas Calientes, where you can head to your hotel for a much-needed hot shower. In the evening, you’ll enjoy your final dinner with your trekking chef.

I have just completed the Salkantay Trek with guides Joyce Thomas and Darwin. The trek was challenging but very worth it and fulfilling. Both guides were amazing. On treks they were good at letting us faster walkers go ahead and wait at meeting points whilst accommodating and taking there time with the slower paced people. Joyce was a fountain of knowledge, telling us lots of history on the way which was very interesting. The food was great and varied and plenty of it. I always felt fuelled well for the days hiking. The stays at night were all very unique and definitely added an interesting nights stay wherever you were! To summarise, the trip and experience was excellent and our two guides made it extra special. Thank you!!
This is an absolute must do, one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Was definitely challenging but every minute was worth it. The porters were great and the chef and his team were bringing out amazing food every time. Carlos arqque and Walter really made the trek a trip to remember. Both of the really knew what they were talking about and informed the entire group on the history of the land and on top of that made the trek a very safe environment.
We had a brilliant experience with Alpaca Expeditions. Carlos Arqque and Walter Y were excellent guides. Very informative and also paced the trek well for the group. Food provided by chef Walter B was excellent and the porters got our bags to each location with no issues. Would highly recommend this trek!
I had a terrific time on the Salkantay trek! The whole team of Alpaca expeditions were amazing! Walter Y and Carlos Arqque were very good tour guides - friendly, attentive, informative and a pleasure to be around. The food cooked by Walter was always fresh and delicious. The overall trek was challenging at points but the full team were so supportive and I would thoroughly recommend this experience to all!
Carlos Arqque and Walter were the most amazing tour guides. We had the best experience. I went with my boyfriend and sister and they were so accommodating. The trek itself was amazing and hard but the food and gear the company gave us made it so enjoyable and comfortable. The food was AMAZING! Highly recommend, good for couple, families and solo travellers.
It was an incredible experience with my guides Carlos Arque and Walter Y who truly made the experience special. We had an unfortunate and unavoidable health accident day 1 of the trek and both sprung into action to make sure the person impacted was safe. They were both incredibly welcoming, encouraging during tough times, clear on directions and the history of the Incas. Truly an unforgettable experience thanks to them and the wonderful group I was paired with.
I did the 5-day, 4-night Salkantay Trek with Alpaca Expeditions at the end of September as a solo traveller, and it was the best part of my three weeks in Peru. I had built the whole trip around it, which felt like a risk, but it paid off. A big part of that was our guide, Raul V. He was genuinely funny, and he let us go at our own pace so we never felt rushed. He also shared plenty of stories and history along the way, which made the landscape and the places we passed through much more meaningful. Thank you, Raul, for making the experience what it was. What made it special was the group. There were eight of us including five people who were friends-from-home. By the end we all became good friends, playing card games in the evenings. The views were wonderful too, especially seeing the landscape change through so many different microclimates over the days. I quite liked that our group had one guide and was smaller compared to the other Alpaca Expedition groups; it felt more tight-knit. The trek is demanding at times. I struggled with the altitude, though nothing serious, and it took more out of me than I expected. I’d suggest spending a few slow days in Cusco beforehand to acclimatise, and allowing an extra rest day afterwards. Diamox, coca tea, and decent fitness may help, but sometimes it just comes down to genetics. I paid a supplement for a private room in Aguas Calientes, which was good quality and kept the group together. I also added an extra night there to queue for a Machu Picchu ticket. Alpaca were able to get me a Circuit 3B ticket whilst we were on the trek, and I managed to see Circuit 2A as well. Machu Picchu lived up to the build-up, and the extra night meant I caught Aguas Calientes celebrating its 85th birthday with a parade. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a proper trek with a sociable group. TIP: Renting equipment from Alpaca is relatively expensive. Consider renting from a 3rd party company in Cusco.
The Salkantay trek was everything i hoped for and more, largely thanks to how well organised the whole experience was from start to finish. Every detail was taken care of, from the pick-up times and transfers to the pacing of each day, so we could simply focus on the mountains and enjoy the walk. Our guides, Saul and Abraham, were fantastic. Both were extremely knowledgeable about the history, geology and local culture of the region, and they explained everything in a way that made the trek far richer than just a hike. What really stood out was how attentive they were to the group. Whatever anyone needed, whether it was a slower pace on the climbs, extra time for photos or help with the altitude, they adjusted without hesitation and made sure everyone felt looked after. The accommodation was a real surprise for a trek of this kind. Comfortable, clean and well located, with proper beds, which made all the difference. And the food deserves a special mention. We ate incredibly well throughout, with fresh, varied and generous meals at every stop. It was some of the best food we had in Peru, let alone on a trail. If you are considering the Salkantay trek, I cannot recommend this team highly enough. Five stars without hesitation.
I had a fantastic experience doing the 5D4N trek in early October. I booked the trek back in early July, which I recommend for getting MP tickets. The trek itself was amazing. The views and the scenery were awesome, and the trek was challenging. Alpaca was very organized - they hosted a meeting the night prior to departure to go over logistics, and provided duffel bags for the porters to carry. My guide Henrry was FANTASTIC (yes Henrry with 2 Rs). He was great at communicating updates to the group, made sure we were okay (altitude is no joke), and overall had a great attitude the entire trek. He became part of my trekking groups family and I learned so much about Incan and Peruvian culture from him. He made our whole group laugh and kept the vibes high. I miss him already and I will personally be recommending him to my friends back in the States. Our chefs, Fabian and Oscar (assistant) cooked amazingly fresh and healthy food every meal. I never felt sluggish, which is important when you’re hiking a lot. I also want to give a shout out to Percy, our horseman. All of our duffel bags arrived to each campsite safely and unscathed. Horseman do not get shout outs enough for the work they do. Thank you Percy.
Amazing trip with great people and friendly guides. Very stress free while Ricardo and Walter gave us a deep dive into culture , history and the views of the Andes. There is a lot of walking but do not fear as the guides take care of you and have different ways to get you to the next destination if you are unwell or simply can’t breath from altitude. The guides watch over and make sure you are having a good time. The chef’s and crew do amazing work and you will be amazed on the effort they put in. They do the hike plus take care of you. I will do the Inca trail with them when I go back. Ask for Walter or Ricardo as your guides you won’t regret it. -Edgar
Had the most incredible time doing the Saltankay pass trail with my sister! It was super challenging but infinitely rewarding. Edward and David were amazing hosts & guides and their knowledge and perspective helped add something really special to the experience. The food was delicious, the porters were great too and it was organised very well. We made a lot of friends along the way - highly recommend :)
David Condori was amazing, he took us to the sacred valley and was incredibly knowledgeable. I felt like I had access to an ancient being and their wisdom. Highly recommend David!
Fantastic experience all around !!! Guide Raul Benjamin (Bebote) was such good energy and always helpful. Marcos and Fortunada worked tirelessly to provide delicious + nutritious food. Will absolutely recommend to everyone!
We had the best experience! A huge thank you to Alejandro for the amazing food and to our guides Juan Carlos Zuloaga and Darwin / all the porters for being so lovely, helpful and knowledgeable. It’s a tough hike, but the whole crew made it so much easier by always being there to help and support us. You all made the experience so special, and we couldn’t recommend this tour enough!
Edward & Melinton were excellent guides and made the trip super smooth and enjoyable! Definitely recommend for anyone going to Peru for the first time and wanting to streamline any permitting. Meals were great, views were amazing, people were awesome.
Moments like these remind us that great journeys aren't just about beautiful places, but about the beautiful people who guide you. Thank you Bernabe and Elder .Our entire group can’t stop talking about how amazing you were. Thank you for your patience, kindness, and humor.Thank you for such an interesting and informative 5 days. Your deep expertise turned what could have been a passive tour into a truly educational experience. Huge thanks for navigating us through an unforgettable journey. I wanted also to reach out and say a huge thank you to Chef Walter. You never disappoint and didn’t forget my lactose intolerance preference. You didn't just show us great food; you made us feel welcome and gave us a true taste of the local culture. What an amazing culinary journey! Thank you so much Alpaca Expeditions.Thank you for going above and beyond any requirement to make sure we had a perfect trip. Your dedication did not go unnoticed!. The incredible hospitality and accommodations were so comfortable, and your kindness made the trip unforgettable.Till next time!
As someone who often reads reviews to make my mind, I hope that if you're like me, this helps you book the experience immediately. Let me begin by saying the crew was absolutely amazing. Thank you Henrry for taking care of us, joining our videos, making us laugh and doing all the behind the scene jobs that we might have missed. The days went flawless, we had no surprises and knew every step of the way what was going on. We learnt so much from you. We also had the most delicious meals served by our Chef and his Assistant, Fabian & Oscar. The meals they provided were HUGE, healthy, tasty, and they cater to your diet (I'm veggie). I will miss the soups so much! The team not only cooks for you, but they do the hike too and have the energy at the end of it to make delicious meals and clean up afterwards. Blows my mind. We were also blessed by our horseman, Percy, who with the help of his mules, carried our duffelbags around to our next campsites, so that we only had to carry our light daypacks (water, snacks, layers). Without these incredible humans, the trek would not have been a solid 100/10. I am so thankful for their smiles, their motivation, love and pride for their work. The trek itself - beautiful, challenging (for me personally, day 1 was the hardest as its a steep start at elevation), and emotional. Bring BUG spray, not just mosquito spray for day 4 and 5. You'll need it. Also, the risk of altitude sickness is real, so come to Cusco to acclimatize with at least 3 full days or more if you can. Overall an amazing experience in beautiful campsites making great memories along the way. The journey is the destination or something along those lines. Muchísimas gracias a todo el equipo de Green Machine!
Epic 5 days doing the Salkantay treck with such a great group! Ricardo and Walter were fantastic guides, bringing good humour and knowledge to the long days and ensuring everything ran smoothly. The food was incredible and everything was very well organised - we loved the coca tea in the mornings and the hot water bottles on the colder nights. I recommend this treck with alpaca!
We had a great experience with Alpaca Expeditions. This was our first trek, and it was challenging, but finishing at Machu Picchu made it worth the effort. A special shout-out to our guides, Ricardo and Walter, and the entire staff for their support throughout the trip. I appreciated having options like riding a mule or visiting the hot springs, which gave me flexibility along the way. Thank you to the whole team for making our first trek such a memorable experience!
Had a great experience on the Salkantay Trek with our guides Ricardo & Walter. Would definitely recommend Alpaca Expeditions for anyone looking to book this trek. Porters, chefs, and horsemen were all amazing aswell!
I had the BEST time spending 5 days on the Salkantay Trek! Was a great value for money since it included the transportation, all food, the guides for the hikes, excellent accommodation and coordination of the Macchu Picchu day. This was the perfect mix of exploring nature while still feeling very safe and comfortable with Alpaca Expeditions the entire time. Our two tour guides, Ishmael and Raymundo really made the trip extra special. Ishmael did a great job of sharing all the history of the Inca people in Macchu Picchu. Raymundo had all of the knowledge about any plant or animal anybody had questions about. On the fourth day our group was split between walking and taking the train and Raymundo went with me and my friend and walked 6 miles with us while everyone else got to take the train!!! I enjoyed spending time with the guides and getting to learn about their heritage and the native people of the area. The food and porter service was excellent - I especially liked meeting Rosita who is training to be a chef one day. This truly was a life changing trip - I have seen some of the most beautiful nature in the world and had an amazing cultural experience! I would recommend this to anybody!
Edward is truly a legend in the industry. His respect and knowledge of the culture, country, and topography is truly a blessing and made for an expertly guided experience. Edward’s stoic energy was beautifully paired with David’s comic relief and fun energy. Our group was amazing, the trek is phenomenal, and I can’t recommend them any more!
Edward and David were the best guides. They were so kind and knowledgeable. During the 5 days, they always ensured we were safe and had a good time. The chefs and porters were also great! Would highly recommend alpaca expeditions!
We had the best experience doing this trek with Alpaca Expiditions and especially with guides David and Edward! Everything was taken care of exceptionally well, especially transfers, communication, (history) information during the trek and the food. Highly recommend!
Experience was great! Our guide was Fernando, he was very knowledgeable and kind. Our cook and porters were Octavio, Clever and Juan, they all worked very hard. The trek was challenging, but very doable. The camps were as described. Food was good, lots of options for everyone. Overall I’d recommend Alpaca to others!
Our tour guide Fernando was very fluent in English and planned our day very well and made sure our group is safe and enjoy this 5d/4n Salkantay Trek . Octavio, Clever and Juan were the rest of the staff who took care of our food, transportation and all other services. The camp sites were amazing with clean restrooms.
Excellent trip, well organised and the guise Juan Carlos was fab
Our experience with Alpaca Expeditions was truly unforgettable and far beyond what we expected. From the beginning until the very end of our 5-day journey through the Andes to Machu Picchu, everything was handled with professionalism, care, passion, and genuine Peruvian hospitality. This trek was not simply about reaching a destination. It became an experience of friendship, culture, perseverance, and connection. We came from different walks of life and different parts of the world, yet somewhere along the trail, through the difficult climbs, changing weather, shared meals, laughter, exhaustion, and unforgettable views, we became a family. The entire Alpaca Expeditions team was remarkable. Our guides were knowledgeable, patient, encouraging, and deeply passionate about sharing the history, traditions, and beauty of Peru. They made us feel safe and supported every step of the way while helping us understand that the Andes are much more than mountains—they are home to generations of history, culture, and incredible people. A very special appreciation also goes to the chefs and porters who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. The quality of the food served in the middle of the mountains was unbelievable. Every meal was prepared with so much effort and care. The porters are truly the heart and strength of the trek, and witnessing their hard work gave us an even deeper respect for this journey. There were challenging moments, but those moments made reaching Machu Picchu even more meaningful. After days of trekking through breathtaking landscapes, experiencing local communities, learning about Peruvian culture, and creating memories with an amazing group of people, finally seeing Machu Picchu felt incredibly emotional and rewarding. What made this experience truly special was not only the destination, but the people we shared the journey with and the team that made everything possible. Heartfelt gratitude to Alpaca Expeditions for giving us an experience that we will carry with us for a lifetime. You did not simply guide us to Machu Picchu—you allowed us to experience the heart of Peru. Without hesitation, I would recommend Alpaca Expeditions to anyone dreaming of exploring the Andes and Machu Picchu. Come prepared for an adventure, but also be prepared to leave with incredible memories, new friendships, and a piece of Peru forever in your heart. Thank you, Alpaca Expeditions, for a truly remarkable journey. 🇵🇪⛰️❤️
The entire trip was incredible, from amazing views, the challenge of the trek and the amazing food. It's a hard trek but if your able, it should definitely be on your list and it should be with Alpaca Expeditions. The team we had supporting us was amazing, our guides Bernie and Elder were fantastic, taking the time to point out interesting points along the trek and teaching us about the local culture and heritage. Each day was amazing, starting off at high altitude and climbing higher until past the Salakantay pass by the end of day 2. The views being beautiful and dramatic. We then descend into the stunning cloud forest which was full of amazing plants and birds. By the end of day 4 we had visited a small coffee farm and roasted out own coffee. We had also visited a optional hot springs on the end of day 3 which was a relief for achey bodies! The final day was Machu Picchu which was brilliant, they got us there early before the majority of the crowds so we had some incredible views and brilliant memories. The food was also incredibly good, breakfast lunch and dinner was delicious and so artfully presented so thanks to Walter and his team for their incredible work. Each of the accommodations was unique and beautiful, making for some unforgettable evenings. Especially nice was the final evening in the Alpaca Terra Hotel which was very nice after 4 days hard walking! I can only strongly suggest Alpaca Expeditions for this trek, learning about their environmental pledges and local social programs only makes me happier that we booked through Alpaca Expeditions. Big shout out to the wider Alpaca team and our local team Bernie, Elder, Walter and his team who made our trek so seamless and easy to be a part of.
Fantastic trip our tour guides Ivan and Edwin were amazing. Would 100% recommend
Our experience with Alpaca was fantastic from start to finish. Our guides Ivan & Edwin went above and beyond for us to ensure we had the best 5 days. We felt safe, and in good hands at all times. We appreciated Ivan’s cultural knowledge & way of explaining things that was passionate and engaging & Edwin also brought lots of fun to the group. Both Ivan & Edwin really made our trip and made a great team. The trek surpassed my expectations, and we would highly recommend!
We had an incredible experience on the Salkantay Trek, and a huge part of that was thanks to our guide, Iban. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the Incas and had a fantastic way of bringing the stories to life. Iban and the assistant guide Edwin also did an amazing job looking after everyone in the group, especially during the more challenging parts of the trek.
The hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life, however, the group were so much fun, such good people and the organisation and the tour guides were fantastic. The most incredible views I’ve ever witnessed and really appreciated doing this trip with alpaca expeditions. They were fantastic.
We had an amazing time! We booked the private tour and Melany guided us through the entire process so professionally and helpfully. Our guide, Yojhan, was the best! Just a great guide and went above and beyond to help us, support us, and make us enjoy this adventure. Abelino was out chef and was also amazing! The food was so good we might have gained weight even while hiking through mountains! It was amazing and would highly recommend!
We had the best experience on this trek with our guides Adolfo and Emerson. I can't say enough good things about the guides we had on this trip, they were truely outstanding. The food was incredibly made by Alejandro and his staff. We cannot recommend this tour company enough. Thank you for the great adventure that we will never forget!
We had the most incredible experience on the Salkantay Trek, and so much of that was thanks to our amazing guides, Adolfo and Emerson. They were both incredibly kind, knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging throughout the entire trek. They made us feel safe and supported every step of the way, while also keeping the experience fun and memorable. Their knowledge of the mountains, local culture, and history added so much to the trip, and you could tell how passionate they are about what they do. Salkantay is definitely challenging, but Adolfo and Emerson made the hard moments feel manageable and were always checking in to make sure everyone was doing okay. By the end of the trek, it truly felt like we had been travelling with friends rather than just guides. The food was also absolutely amazing throughout the trek. Alejandro and his staff did such an incredible job preparing delicious meals every day, and we were constantly impressed by the quality and variety of the food, especially considering we were out in the mountains. This was one of the highlights of our trip to Peru and an experience we will never forget. We feel so lucky to have had Adolfo and Emerson leading us, and Alejandro and his team taking such great care of us along the way. We would recommend them without hesitation to anyone doing the Salkantay Trek. Thank you all for such an unforgettable adventure!
The Salkantay Trek with Alpaca Expeditions was an amazing experience. There is a huge logistical operation behind the scenes to make everything as easy and comfortable for us as possible, and they do an incredible job. The accommodations were great, the rented sleeping bags were warm, and the food prepared by chef Alejandro and his sous-chefs was delicious and plentiful. But the biggest shout-out goes to our guides, Adolfo and Emmerson. They were absolutely irreplaceable. They were funny, helpful, genuinely checked in with everyone, and spoke excellent English. They work incredibly long days, yet they were tireless and consistently positive. They truly made the trek!
Juan Carlos and Romario were excellent guides! The trip was very well organized and when there were train issues they were on top of the situation and got us all back safely.
The Salkantay Trek is the most unforgettable hiking trip I have ever experienced in my life. Although the journey was challenging, it was worth it when I saw the stunning view of Humantay Lake, where the water reflects the snow-capped peaks surrounding it! I really appreciate the huge assistance from the supportive porters; it greatly reduced my load during the hike. Only having to put necessities in a duffel bag is a great help to the porters. My helpful tour guide, Carlos Arque, took care of every teammate with patience. In addition, he is very knowledgeable about the history and culture of Peru. His stories really inspired me to learn more about the details behind them. The chef team provided delicious and heartwarming food with cute decorations. ¡Muchas gracias!
Just finished the Salktantay trek and had the best experience. The tour felt very well ran and we were very happy with the accommodation and food. Our chef was Timoteo M and every meal was incredible, always something different and always a lot of food. Our tour guide was Carlos Arggue. He took care of us and taught us a lot about the history of Peru and the Quechua people. Had the best five days and Alpaca was the best company to go with, without a doubt.
Carlos Arqque was a fantastic tour guide! We had an amazing experience hiking the Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu. Strong friendships were formed and happy memories made while learning about the history of Peru.
Our Salkantay trek was very well organised by Alpaca Expeditions and we had a small group which was so enjoyable. Our guide Carlos Arqque was knowledgeable and motivated us through the many challenges of the trip! Chef Timóteo cooked amazing three course meals for us every day and we were never hungry. A must do experience for those coming to Peru who love nature, culture and history. Gracias a todos !
Carlos Arqque was our guide, he was super informative. We struggled a lot but he was very patient and slowed down to match our pace to make sure we were safe and completed our journey! 🫶🏽
Carlos Arqque was our guide for the trek. If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t have made it up to Humantay lake. He was super motivating and informative.
It was such a great experience and like nothing I have ever done before. It was tough but our guide Carlos Arggue made it very enjoyable. He was so informative about Peru’s history and kept us motivated even when the altitude was proving a challenge. Also the food was so good. I didn’t really know what to expect but it was so tasty each day and was exactly what we need for a days hike. Go Puma’s
I had an amazing experience during the Salkantay trek with Alpaca Expeditions. It started out rough I was getting sick prior to arriving. Our guide Fernando had good communication, situational awareness, and was looking out for me as I recovered. That honestly meant a lot to me and showed off his skills as a leader and guide. He spent time getting to know us and our pace. I really appreciated the group that I was with. It was really nice to meet new friends and take on a challenge together. The food was simply amazing. I can talk about this all day. You're working hard through these treks and you are treated to multicourse peruvian meal that is healthy, full of variety, and substantial. Ciriaco, our head chef, was just legendary. Like we are on a trail and this man gets out a birthday style cake. Seriously I'm just stunned haha. The porters were friendly and all the members of the crew checked in on each other. It looked like a healthy work culture. I thoroughly enjoyed my trek and felt safe. Thanks Fernando & co!
Salkantay Trek was the best excursion I’ve ever had in my life! Frank was such a great guide - charismatic and with so much positive energy. He made us understand Inka world better. He connected our group very well so we were like one big family. Organisation was very good, food was delicious and it was enough for everyone. I 100% recommend this trip. It was 10/10 experience. Totally recommend trips with Frank.
I did the Salkantay Trek 5D/4N and it was such an incredible experience. Our guide Fernando did an amazing job and made sure everyone was safe and had a good time. The chef did an outstanding job with all the meals. Alpaca does a good job of taking care of their own team as well as the trekkers. I highly recommend booking with this company!!
It was a fantastic tour. The scenery was absolutely stunning, and experiencing several different climate zones all in one day was truly impressive. Fernando was a great guide, and the kitchen team did an amazing job preparing delicious meals. All in all, it was a wonderful experience that I can highly recommend!
