An amazing experience! I did a private solo tour (with one other solo traveler joining for the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu portion). It was all seamlessly organized with no snafus. David and Alicija in the Andean Path office responded quickly to all communications. The guide Domingo was excellent and the drivers great. The hotels they booked in Ollantaytambo and Agua Caliente were really good and all details (train tickets, trail permits, etc.) were taken care of perfectly. I'm a very independent traveler, but it was well worthwhile to have all the details of this taken care of for me. And of course the sights are astounding.

Day 1
1
Lying in Peru's magnificent Andean highlands, the Sacred Valley helps form the heart of the ancient Inca Empire. The area is littered with historical gems from market villages like Pisac to Ollantaytambo. The setting of this region is truly breathtaking.
The archaeological complex of Ollantaytambo was a strategic military, religious and agricultural center. The architectural scene is exceptional in its size, style, and originality of its buildings. For the Quechua language, the name comes from the word
Day 2
2
Your short Inca Trail hiking tour to Machu Picchu starts with you being picked up from your hotel at 4 a.m. Following, we will go to the train station and leave on the 6:10 a.m. train from Ollantaytambo. The trail follows the Urubamba River until we reach Km104, where we'll begin our trek. Along the way, you will see spectacular views of farmlands, snow-capped mountains, and the mighty Urubamba River that is one of the sources of the Amazon River. At 104 km (2,000 m), we will begin our trek. Once you have everything, we will provide you with snacks, and take a group photo before visiting our first Inca site. After your orientation and tour of the Inca site, we will begin hiking as we head for the Classic Inca Trail. If the weather is clear, we'll have tremendous views of Machu Picchu, the Urubamba River, and other surrounding Inca Sites. After hiking for thee hours, we will reach the most beautiful Incan site on the Inca Trail Wiñay Wayna (Forever Young) at 2,600 m/8,500 ft. Most people do not get the opportunity to see an elaborate water fountain, temples, and some agricultural terraces, which provide a perfect opportunity to learn about the history of the Incas. The backdrop of this site drops off a cliff, with beautiful mountains surrounding the area. A few minutes away we will find the campsites, people doing the Classic Inca Trail will spend the night there. Here we will provide a hot lunch for you. Cooked that same moment by one of our chefs. Here we will be able to refill your water and you will have the change to take some rest after lunch. From Wiñay Wayna, we will walk to the Sun Gate, where we will see the picturesque landscape of Machu Picchu. After taking in the once-in-a-lifetime views, we will begin our descent to Machu Picchu. One advantage of this trek is that by the time you reach Machu Picchu, the day travelers will have left, leaving you the whole area to yourselves. After taking photos, we take the bus down to Aguas Calientes and head to your hotel. Following, we will head to Indio Feliz for dinner (included). This restaurant is considered to be the best food in Aguas Calientes. After dinner, we recommend going to bed early to make the most of the next day.
Day 3
3
We will wake up early in the morning to catch the sunrise at Machu Picchu. You will have a two hour guided tour by your private English speaking guide. After that, you will have time to explore Machu Picchu by yourself. Those who have tickets to Huayna Picchu will have time to climb the mountain, which takes approximately an hour and a half, round-trip. After exploring, you can either take a bus or walk down to Aguas Calientes for a free afternoon. Don´t forget about your train, which will depart later that afternoon back to Ollantaytambo and then we will drive you back to Cusco.

The tour itself was amazing. you visit main atraction points around Cusco. The guides Franklin and Ronald were very professional, informative and friendly. Though we expected a little bit better acomodation for such price.
We had a fantastic trip, both in Sacred Valley and the short Inca hike. David and his team was very easy to communicate with, helped us along the way and also was helpful to tailor our trip specific to our schedule. Our tour guide Ronald was very helpful and knowledgeable about the Inca history as well as making sure that we were at the right place at the right time. Would strongly recommend others to choose the same experience as we had.
We traveled and explored with Ronald for 4 amazing days on a 6 day trip to Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley. The Andean Path team was super helpful in the planning stage, including helping us decide what to do with our other two days in the area (in contrast to a supposedly higher end company that kept pressuring us to use them all 6 days - which is not necessary). Alijcea helped us develop a trip perfectly customized for our family. The one day Inca trail hike was way better than just taking the bus up, allowing us to see Winay Wayna and come in through the sun gate. Rainbow Mtn was a challenge but worth every step. Throughout the trip, Andean Path found ways to help us avoid the crowds. We enjoyed spending time with Ronald, while also having our own space when wanted.
We took a tour with Andean Path Travel in April through the Sacred Valley, short Inca Trail, Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu. David and Alicja were fantastic and very responsive in organizing all the trip details and our tour guide Ron was incredible. Ron was extremely knowledgeable about all the sites we visited, and he explained the Inca history and culture about all the things we saw. We saw a textile dying demonstration in Chinchero, which was very fun and interesting, and then we saw Maras Salt Mines and Ruins at Moray and then toured the ruins at Ollantaytambo. It's well worth the extra day to see the Sacred Valley. The Inca trail and Huayna Picchu were challenging, but Ron was amazing. He was patient, encouraging, and super supportive in getting us through the difficult parts, and we feel proud for having accomplished it. Ron was also awesome at taking photos and knew all the great spots where to stand for the best viewpoint. It was an incredible trip and we will have memories for a lifetime. Thanks to Andean Path Travel everything was perfect. If you are thinking about a trip to Peru, I highly recommend you stop thinking and book a tour with Andean Path Travel. You’ll be glad you did.
We did Sacred Valley, short Inca trail, Machu Picchu tour, and Rainbow mountain with Andean Path Travel. Our guide, Domingo, has been nothing short of amazing. He's incredibly accommodating, and super knowledgeable on Incan history. He provided us with an unforgettable experience, with the short Inca Trail being my personal favourite part of the trip. I recommend Domingo to anyone that wants to enjoy their time in Peru to the fullest.
We had an unforgettable, fun and deeply moving experience during this wonderful tour with Roneld. I have to admit that I was initially not that excited about a family vacation to Peru but my daughter insisted we would have an amazing time and that I would love it in the end. She was so right. My husband and I went with our two 20-something kids. From the time I booked the reservation to the final goodbye at our hotel in Cusco, Alicja, David and Roneld were wonderfully attentive. Alicja's instructions were clear and detailed, and Roneld did a great job preparing us for what we would experience. We loved hearing about Peru's history and the traditions of the Quechua from Roneld's point of view. Seeing the salt mines, stopping to hear about how alpaca wools are dyed naturally, and the tour of the Sacred Valley were unforgettable! The trek to the Sun Gate and ultimately Machu Picchu was one of the most difficult experiences of my life. We had to take a different trail because of heavy rains on the original one. The one we took was basically a vertical climb! I've never experienced any hike like it and it was brutal for me. But I did it! Not so for my kids, who arrived a full hour before I did, and my husband, who made it 30 minutes after them. Roneld stayed with me, encouraged me, went ahead, and stayed back, all at the right moments with this eerie instinct about exactly what I needed in the moment that I needed it. I will never forget him. I made it to the top only because of his patience and encouragement. The hotel in Ollantaytambo was lovely. We struggled a bit to to get to sleep at the one in Aguascalientes because of the loud partiers around the area. Still, we made it work. The next day's tour of Machu Picchu was nothing compared to the hike the day before so we were ready for anything! :-) When we arrived back in Cusco, Roneld reminded us to get all of our things. Little did I know, I'd dropped my glasses in the van. The driver was kind enough to return them to our hotel the next day. That small kindness was so very appreciated. Thank you! All in all, we were just so incredibly thankful for this experience and, in particular, to have had it with Roneld. Thank you so very much for sharing your stories and for answering all of our many, many questions, Roneld. When I asked you if you ever got used to seeing Machu Picchu and you said every visit is different and magical, I knew you were a special human. Thank you Alicja and David for creating a wonderful tour for our family!
Amazing experience!! Very professionally handled and our guide Sandro explained everything about Peruvian culture. David was also excellent and very responsive. Would definitely recommend to anyone!
Excellent tour company. This small local tour company came highly recommended and were very responsive when I contacted them by email. They put together a customized four day tour for our family which included a tour of Pisac, the Sacred Valley and the one day hike to Manchu Picchu. Pie tour guide Ronald was experienced, friendly and very knowledgeable. The drivers were skilled and overall the entire tour went off without a hitch. Highly recommend for assisting with a Cusco-based itinerary.
>Andean Path Travel Thank you so much for providing me with such an incredible experience. I’m truly glad I chose to join your tour. I hope to join you again someday, next time for the Classic Inca Trail. Once again, thank you so much for everything!
I had a fantastic time. David was friendly, knowledgeable and great to be around. We did the sacred valley/ 1 day hike and my kids found the hike a bit challenging but David was great with them and kept encouraging them to finish. He’s such positive person and tour and transportation was fantastic. I would definitely recommend using Andean path travel.
We had an amazing time. The tour was well organized and our guide was very knowledgeable and experienced. He met us the day before the tour and explained everything. His tips on starting early was very useful to avoid the crowds, and to beat the heat. They handled all the logistics ahout handling luggage around the long hikes, recommended good, safe hotels and restaurants. The tour buses were always spot on time. We were really able to relax and enjoy Peru as they made it comfortable and hassle free.
Ron was an amazing tour guide, easily the most knowledgeable tour guide I have ever met. He is also a former National Geographic photographer, the pictures he took of our group were breathtaking. David was another tour guide we met on the way, he was hilarious and very nice too. The driver we had was an unsung hero, probably the best driver I have ever seen, especially given the chaotic Peru traffic and the winding mountain roads. The tour itself was breath taking. Day 1 we saw the sacred valley, which was beautiful. We saw a handful of Incan sites, where Ron told us the history of each. Moray and the salt mine were definitely highlights for me. We also had demonstrations from locals on textiles and chicha. Lunch was delicious too. We were roughing it in hostels for the rest of our trip so the hotels we stayed in during these days were by far the nicest. Day 2 was the Incan trail. The sights were unbelievable. Ron was very good at helping us along, we were 4 fit 20 year old men and the trail we difficult (especially because of the altitude). The packed lunch far surpassed my expectations. Dinner was provided that night as well and was also amazing. The last day we toured Machu Picchu, Ron was able to tell us all the history of the site and answer all our questions. Finally we began the journey home, the train was delayed but we made up some time getting back to Cuzco thanks to that amazing driver. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour and this tour company to anyone looking to explore Incan sites!
The private tour for our family of 3 was perfect! Ali his was on top of all the planning and prompt with answering any questions. Ron was knowledgeable and patient with us as ww navigated various parts to different levels of abilities. Would definitely recommend!
David was an artful guide sharing the love of his culture and its rich history. He was able to engage each adult as well as our inquisitive and challenging teens. His positive energy was infectious and he was able to gauge the unique needs of our group. He was an integral part of a trip we will never forget! Peru is amazing
An incredible experience! Saw several Incan sites and learned a ton about their history and culture, while also having plenty of time for a moderately challenging hike thru the Andes + exploring Machu Picchu and towns along the Urubamba river. We were happy we picked this tour instead of the full 4-day trek, and also glad we went with a smaller/local company instead of one of the larger corporate outfits that schleps around enormous groups. Booking the trip was seamless and the company’s reps were extremely communicative and helpful in ironing out specifics. Our tour guide, Rom, was absolutely phenomenal — deeply passionate and knowledgeable about all things Inca (he’s basically a walking encyclopedia), and was a blast to just hang with. Struck the perfect balance of engaging w/o being overwhelming, and nailed the timing of each exhibit to avoid the busiest crowds. 10/10, could not recommend more highly.
Everything was perfect, from planning to travel to food.. had an amazing experience and David was so helpful and very informative. I am glad I Picked the right choice for my trip to Machu Picchu.
I highly recommend this company and tour. David was very helpful with making the arrangements and following up to ensure that everything would run smoothly once we arrived. Once we arrived, Sandro met us at the airport to start our journey and made us feel right at home. He was very knowledgeable and accommodating. I have already and will continue to recommend Andean Path to anyone who wants to see Cusco and Machu Picchu! 5 stars!!
Our three day Sacred Valley + Inca Trail + Machu Picchu private tour with Andean Path Travel was fantastic! David helped answer all of our questions that we had prior to arriving in Peru, and then came to our hotel in Cusco on a prior evening for a brief and helpful orientation. He also provided a duffel bag for our use that he transported between the Ollantaytambo and Aguas Calientes hotels so we didn't have to carry our clothing and toiletries on the one day Inca Trail hike which was much appreciated! Our guide was Ron and he was great. He is from a village near Ollantaytambo and is extremely knowledgeable about Incan history and culture. Since my wife mentioned an interest in flowers, he also took the time to point out many of the different types of flowers along the Inca Trail. The Sacred Valley Tour was great and the Inca sites at both Pisac and Ollantaytambo were very impressive. The provided buffet lunch was delicious and in a very nice setting. We had some free time to explore around Ollantaytambo in the late afternoon. The one day Inca trail hike provided wonderful views almost continuously along the trail. The first half (~3 miles) is mostly uphill but we found the ascent to be very manageable although we stopped to catch our breath plenty of times. The ruins at Winay Wanya are a nice reward after the uphill. From Winay Wanya, the second half of the hike is mostly level and downhill. The views of Machu Picchu from the Sun Gate and descending on the trail are unbeatable and we were able to visit the upper portion of Machu Picchu when we arrived which is where the attached photo together with Ron was taken. On the third day, we visited the main portion of Machu Picchu and ascended Huayna Picchu mountain. Although the hike is steep, the views along the way and at the top are incredible of both Macchu Picchu and the surrounding mountains and valleys. I would recommend adding the Huayna Picchu option if you book early enough. We returned back to Aguas Calientes and took the train to Ollantaytambo where a driver picked us up and took us back to our hotel. Andean Path Travel is a local Peruvian company and they did a great job with everything, we highly recommend them!
I'm totally excited about this tour. Everything was so perfect and so different compared to what we heard from others. Our guide (Ronald) was an ongoing Wikipedia, explained us so much and had an answer for every question (and we asked a lot) and was a wonderful company during this tour. The food and the hotels were also very qualitative. I can hardly believe that we got such a great service for the price.
I cannot put into words how incredible this trip was. From top to bottom, the people, the food, the sights and the physical aspects--all more than I ever could've imagined. I have nothing but great things to say about both our guides, David+Rom, porters and the chefs.
We completed the 3 day, 2 night excursion including sacred valley, Machu Picchu, hiking 7 mile Inca trail, and Hiking waynapicchu mountain! This was a great way to see a lot in a short amount of time. Our tour guide, Ron, was very knowledgeable about Inca culture. It was very helpful to have someone with us to organize all the hikes, tickets, buses, trains, hotels, food etc! The hiking is strenuous so wouldn’t recommend if you’re not normally active. Wayna Picchu was an add on and would recommend this! Steep uphill climb rewards you with an amazing vantage point of Machu Picchu. We also enjoyed staying in Machu Picchu town- seems to always be lively with great culture, markets, and food! The hotels were just average, but we were barely there so didn’t matter. This excursion was difficult to pack for but best recommendation would be to wear layers. At one point I was in a tank top and the next part wearing a fleece and jacket. Pants and a hat would be best at all times. If you want a taste of the Inca Trail but not up for the 4 day hike I would recommend this alternative!
16 of us did the 4 day Inca Trail to MACHU PICCHU. David and Rom were the best tour guides we could have possibly asked for. Their knowledge of the history, flora and wild life was amazing. All the details of the hike were well planned out and all we had to do was show up with the energy to hike and carry our basic needs. David's amazing team of porters and chief kept as well fed (amazing food) and set up our tents each evening. Hiking was all we had to worry about, everything else was taken care of down to snacks and clean water. I highly recommend Andean Path Travel for anyone considering Hiking the Machu Picchu trail. Very professional company. David also is a great tour guide for things to see and do around Cusco
David and Rom were exceptional guides. Painstaking patient with our group of varying abilities. Throughout the hike, explained historical and scientific facts to us, while ensuring we remained safe and enjoyed the trip. The food provided by the trail chief was delightful, easy to eat and kept us energized fro a full day worth of hiking. I didn't need to bring snacks from home, as the food and snacks supplied were delicious and abundant. I would highly recommend David as your guide for any outing in Peru. He truly wen above and beyond, even suggesting local restaurants that were safe to eat at, additional outings and provide transport.
David and his team went above and beyond for our group of 16. I booked 3 years ago and had to reschedule due to covid. He accommodated us more than just the Inca trail. The food they cooked amazing. The porters top notch. The knowledge and learning we got was amazing. I personally worked with David for 3 years to make this the best trip ever
After researching a few different companies to do the Sacred valley and Short Inca trail hike with, I decided to go with Andean Path Travel, and I’m so happy I did! The service was phenomenal, David our tour guide was very knowledgable and despite the COVID protocols he was able to flexibly make arrangements to suit our needs. Everything went smoothly and I felt the tour was well balanced in terms of what we got to see and do in a short time. Communication wise as well leading up to the tour I felt they were very responsive and happy to explain any details I needed some additional information about. I would highly recommend using this agency to anyone looking to travel to the Cusco region and is looking to do tours in the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu or to hike the Inca Trail!
The place is impressive, walking to Machu Pichu was an unforgettable experience. The agency had everything coordinated, the cars that drove us there and back were new and comfortable, and the drivers were attentive and careful on the road. The hotels were of excellent quality, clean, comfortable, and in the best location, right in the middle of everything.
THE VISITS WERE WONDERFUL, WE ENJOYED EVERYTHING THEY OFFERED US TO TOUR, AN EXPECTACULAR EXPERIENCE AND WE WERE ABLE TO RECOMMEND THE COMPANY
