Did not pick us up or drop us off anywhere near our hotel. Drop-off was especially shady since we were dropped off so far from hotel, seemed like they just wanted to get off early and not get through the traffic, even though other vehicles were doing it.

Details of trip did not meet expectations. Van ride was long & cramped. No Wi-Fi on board. Food stops were terrible. Hiking was hard and we were on our own. No oxygen provided. Bring your own water.
Amazing views make the bus ride from town worth it!
Rainbow mountain was an unforgettable experience! We did not do the whole hike, we took horse up part of the way. This was also an incredible experience. The views up top are breathtakingly beautiful! Many llama picture opportunities when you reach the top as well. Would highly recommend this tour.
Looking forward to better experience next time
Breakfast was great and we came back for lunch after our trek. Rainbow mountain was beautiful, we hiked it. But you can ride horse or quads . Line up for the photo was a bit annoying but it’s what you have to do.
traffic both ways so a 3 hr plus drive, last hour is on a dirt road. great to see rainbow mountains with a handful of other tourists. an additional 25 sol cost pp
Anibal was so amazing!! He was very patient and positive on the difficult trail. We had a great time with him and always felt safe.
I always enjoyed hiking but that was hiking on steroids!! I had the opportunity to either hike, use a motorcycle or horseback to the top. I wanted the full walking experience as the Incas would do so I walked. I went all the way to the top and felt it was quite an accomplishment considering the elevation and 40 percent less oxygen at that height. Machu Picchu was my main event in Peru but this surprised me so much that it ended being my second favorite adventure.
It was an incredible experience at Rainbow Mountain with expert adventure guides and great photographers, and they helped us get horses to reach Rainbow Mountain at over 5,000 meters above sea level.
This is a spectacular experience and a must to truly feel the Andes Mountains. The guide, Juan, was great and the entire trip is streamlined and efficient.
A worthwhile trip - we had snow, so wrap up warm. The snow slowly melted throughout the hike and we were rewarded with incredible views of the surrounding mountains. Rainbow Mountain slowly revealed the amazing colours by lunchtime and our photos are stunning. A delicious breakfast and lunch were provided in beautiful surroundings. The hike wasn’t too arduous and can also be made on horseback with locals.
Beto was an amazing guide and did a fantastic job leading us throughout the day. Hiking Rainbow Mountain is NO joke! We came prepared with altitude medicine, coca tea, and coca candy, but even that was not enough for the challenging hike. My husband and I decided to take advantage of the horse ride on the way up (80 sol), which definitely helped. Throughout the hike, Beto continuously encouraged and motivated us to keep going and reach the top. Although we did not make it to Red Mountain, we would have loved the opportunity to see it as well. The included breakfast and lunch were both delicious, and the bus ride to the mountain was very comfortable. We also lucked out with perfect weather, which made the experience even better. Thank you, Beto, for such a GREAT day!
We had such a great experience, everything exceeded our expectations. Our tour guide was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. He made sure everyone in our group could keep up comfortably. The breakfast and lunch tasted great and was at a really clean and new hotel. Would highly recommend this.
José is an amazing tour guide. He is very talkative and friendly. He picked the best time for the rainbow mountain, it starts to rain shortly after we start to descend. We didn’t bring any cash and he paid the entrance fee for us and we paid him when we are back in Cusco. He also took care of my friend when she had severe AMS, giving her meds and called a horse to carry her. We are very grateful for him and happy about the experience
We went with GetYourGuide. We were picked up punctually at 3am from Cusco hotel. This meant that we'd get to Rainbow Mountain before lots of people. Good breakfast, and lunch on way back. As we'd completely the 3.5 Inca Trail 2 days beforehand, we decide to hire a pony each, to get up the hill. It was great fun. We each paid 80 soles, but tipped the pony owner 20 soles too. Take coins for the well-serviced toilets. We walked up the rest of the hill (over 5000 metres high). Wrap up well - gloves, layers, hats, sunglasses. We were lucky that the fog lifted. Stunning.
It was very good experience. We have 2 family groups, 7 people in total. We got a 12 people van, felt like a private tour. The breakfast and lunch are at a newly built hotel, very clean and beautiful. Food was freshly cooked and very yummy. Tour guide was very experienced and flexible. I highly recommend this one.
Incredible adventure throw the country to reach that altitude, amazing colours and landscapes
We had a fantastic adventure. It was challenging but worth the effort Darwin our guide was amazing. Very accommodating to everyone’s physical abilities We encountered a freak thunderstorm with hail and snow and he was the last person off the mountain ensuring everyone’s safety
The rainbow mountain was very challenging, but our guide was so patient with us. We opted to hike at first and ended up taking horse (s) when it became too difficult. Our guide was extremely supportive during the entire hike.
From beginning to end the tour was well organised and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Highly recommend.
Great experience, felt like an achievement to make it to the top. Our guide looked after us very well, he was very kind and knowledgeable about the mountain and the area. The weather changed a lot throughout the walk: rain, sun and snow. To note, the hike can be difficult if you’re not acclimatised to the altitude or unfit, there are horses available to hire in case.
I wasn't really on board to do this excursion. Altitude is very high and trek is difficult but so worth it. Many different options to get up to see Rainbow mountain that don't require passing out from lack of oxygen. Not as busy as I had expected and both breakfast and lunch were more than expected. We had plenty of time to explore around and get pictures and everyone was extra helpful and very patient. Absolutely worth the effort and money. Which was not outrageous. Our admission was included in the package so not sure what it was but it was not expensive as the whole tour was not expensive.
Both the guide and the driver were very friendly. The guide ran back and forth to help everyone in need. Indeed, it's not an easy trip for the guests due to the high elevation. But the guide made sure everyone was well. Really helpful!
Anibal was a FANTASTIC tour guide! Allowed us all the keep the pace at which we were comfortable and helped us all get the experience we wanted! He was extremely knowledgeable about the mountains and community which made the journey that much better!
Once you get to the top you'll be proud of yourself! Ok I'll be honest the journey to the mountain was long, the restaurant had meh food and it was the same location for breakfast and lunch. I choose to go up the mountain via motorcycle and even once I reached the top I struggled breathing so really take your time. I got some great pics! Glad I pushed myself.
It was unbelievable and a memorable experience going up to see the rainbow mountain especially if you are not that physically fit . The rented horse did the 80% of the hike and the remaining 20% you will do it yourself. The tour guide (Ruben) was very helpful and supportive. He explained what is going to happen on the hike and he will motivate you not to give up. Most of all, you will never forget your experience as Ruben took beautiful pictures and video’s of you. 😁Overall, I Highly Recommend this tour. For your preparation, I suggest to do a cardio exercise for your breathing and it will help your climb to high altitude.
Overall, I had a good time on this excursion, the guide was knowledgeable, and the Mountain is a serious challenge. Read that again it’s a serious challenge, meaning that if you aren’t in shape, you should not be doing this. One thing I don’t think this company did well is manage expectations around the level of difficulty Rainbow Mountain is, I get the feeling that a lot of companies are doing this because they want the money but you’re talking a 17,000 foot elevation. Unfortunately, they don’t screen people and there was someone on the group that made us wait almost a hour because he clearly did not read up on the level of difficulty and as a result we were without a guide for much of the duration. You need to be in VERY good shape to do this. You can’t be a smoker and you can’t be overweight and someone who doesn’t go to the gym. Please read this warning for anyone considering this trek.
It was a great experience with beautiful views! I’d recommend it, if you feel well in Cusco. Based on your physique and adjustment to the high altitude, you may want to consider an option of a horseback riding a part of the way to the top. Dress in layers, it may be windy at the final destination. The guides were very friendly and helpful.
An amazing hike to rainbow mountain. Excellent planing and good price. Better than machu pichu experience in my opinion. Our guide was the best. Alfredo. He has excellent knowledge. And thanks to him we got amazing views and beat the crowd and the bad weather timing. Despite their being soo many clouds. Fun and happy tour guide with a world of knowledge and experience. 👌👌
I’m not sure if I can do it but our tour guide Ruben is very supportive and know what to do. He give me oxygen and help me go up the mountain. I was able to see the mountains. Thank you.
Another trip with 'The Adventure People' part of G Adventures. What a memorable hike this was. The trip is absolutely beautiful and well worth it. You don't really need hiking sticks for this trek i walked up with one, just incase, but its really not needed. There are a couple of Lamas near the top you can get photos with which is so fun! Recommedn doing this, such beautiful photos and back drop. This place used to be covered in ice, and since the ice melted and it is a volcanic area, its created these beautiful rainbow esq colours.
Pablo is great, he helped us when my daughter and I weren’t feeling well. During the tour he explained everything and made sure everybody understood. The mountain itself is amazing! Worth it! I highly recommend Chullos Travel and Pablo.
It was an unforgettable hiking. Thanks to Angel and Yuri for sharing many interesting details about the mountain. They were very patient and smiling, it was a pleasure to hike with them.
Our tour guide, Annibal, made our Rainbow Mountain day trip extremely uncomfortable. From the beginning, he made repeated inappropriate sexual comments and asked intrusive personal questions that no guide should ever ask. His behavior came across as creepy and unprofessional, and instead of making the experience enjoyable, his constant banter was a nuisance. On top of that, he did not return the correct change for our Rainbow Mountain ticket, even after we asked him for it multiple times. This felt dishonest and disrespectful. The worst moment came at the end of the tour, when he kissed me on the cheek with noticeable pressure. While we understand cheek kisses can be customary in Peru, this was unwanted and far too forward, crossing a clear line. It’s important to mention that the driver and the other guide were very professional and respectful. Annibal’s actions are not a reflection of them, but his conduct was unacceptable and left us feeling uncomfortable and taken advantage of. Rainbow Mountain itself is breathtaking and absolutely worth visiting, but I would strongly advise avoiding any tour led by Annibal. His behavior was unprofessional, inappropriate, and put a damper on what should have been a memorable experience.

Great tour over one day, a really beautiful place to discoser, Ruben was a great guide, the food was nice, I recommend this visit during a stay in Cusco !
If you want to meet with 2000 people on a mountain, please go and have fun! Hundreds of quads and motorbikes bring people up and down all the time, so forget about the quite. On the top people queue for a picture with lamas wearing sunglasses! So decide if this is want you want.
Everything went so smoothly for us and our guides were so helpful and knowledgeful regarding everything! Also during the car ride we got to know new things about different things we passed and villages we driced by. Excellent experience!
What an incredible place! The long journey from Cusco on the bumpy roads and then the tough walk up the final pass was so worth it. Pick up was very efficient and the stops for breakfast and lunch welcome, with a good selection of fresh food from a buffet. There was the right amount of time at the mountain itself and the guide helpfully provided walking poles
Outstanding experience, friendly and sensitive guide, we took horses for the way up and therefore didn’t have any problems (exercise is not a good idea at this altitude) Be prepared for wind and the cold. Don’t miss this experience - higher than the highest mountain in Europe!
Our guide made the trip up there rather easy. Aside from the daunting chilliness at 5am as we were having the breakfast, which has nothing to do with our guide lol, I greatly enjoyed the companionship of our guide. He is really knowledgeable about the mountain and the area. What impressed me most was his friendliness and patience. I was on this tour with my dad who doesn’t speak English nor Spanish. And the guide would always leave some space for me to translate. He also made sure that my dad was able to complete this tour. Overall, we both really enjoyed this tour and highly recommend it!
A chance to view rainbow mountain and red valley in a day with buffet breakfast and lunch included. The day was an early start but so worth it!
The view and the hike just take your breath away, highly recommend. Alfredo our guide is highly knowledgeable and he’s encouraged me to complete the hike successfully. Great value for money.
Later morning departure and earlier return were good features here especially if you are tight on time in Cusco
Great crew and experience, the breakfast and lunch was a buffet and food tasted great. The guides were excellent lead by Rubin. All eager to help take photos and vids of us and guide us up the mountains.
Our trip to Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley was absolutely excellent! Everything was very well organized from start to finish. We had the privilege of arriving early, which meant we were among the first to reach the viewpoint—truly a special experience without the big crowds. Our guide, Jordan, was super friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure everyone felt comfortable throughout the hike. The walk to the top of Rainbow Mountain took about an hour. While the altitude made it a bit challenging, it was totally manageable for everyone in our group. The views were simply breathtaking—absolutely worth every step. We were also pleasantly surprised by the food provided, which was delicious and included great vegetarian options. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a stunning and well-run adventure in the Andes!
Anibal was our guide and amazing. We stopped for breakfast he gave us information and history of the hike. He then told us the options of getting to the top. He ensure we all got there. My altitude sickness was brutal but thanks to the horses for taking me most the way and Anibal and Florida water I made it to the top. We also lucked out in having a wonderful group on the trip with us. The trip is definitely worth the effort just make sure you are in cusco and adjusted before this hike. The highers part is 5300m and for Americans it's just shy of 16,000 ft.
Amazing hike and very worth it despite the high altitude; our guide, Reuben was helpful and knowledgable overall. Driver was also very professional. Breakfast / lunch provided was very average but you’re not there for the food :/ Pro tip: you’re reasonably fit and go slow, you will be just fine. Pack lots of layers - it gets really cold up there (for reference in early May it was between -5 to 0 C at the summit)
Very positive experience with Darwin as our guide leading up to the Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley. The walk up the mountain required some basic physical conditioning but Darwin was sure to make sure everyone reached up safely. We paid 30 soles to enter the Red Valley but we walked about 100 meters and stayed there very briefly which I felt could have been better. Darwin did give us a little geography and history lesson which we appreciated. Overall a very positive experience!
