Qampa was such an amazing experience! Urbano, our guide, was friendly, knowledgeable, and looked after us well. Our chef and horse driver, Niko and Angel, made the trip even better and were also very friendly. The food was great, and the mountain was gorgeous! Definitely at a challenging altitude, but easily worth it all!

Day 1

Your tour guide will collect you from your hotel in Cusco at 6:00 a.m.Afterwards, we drive towards Tinki, a small town located on the highway called Inter Oceanica, after 2,30 hours of driving. Here we have 30 minutes to stop to explore, take a breakfast, or buy some stuff that you could need on this tour. Then, we continue our drive to reach Pacchanta village at 4,060 m.Is this where we start our trek? 2 hours hike to Azulccocha, where we have lunch with stunning views of the snowcapped mountains around, and then continue our hike to reach our base camp at 4,680 meters above sea level. Once we arrive there, our tents will already be set up. We will have dinner and spend the first night there.
Day 2
2
We wake up early, at 2:30 a.m. Enjoy our super breakfast and start the trek to the moraine. Here we climb up to reach the glacier, which is the beginning of the climb with our gear. Your high mountain guide will provide us all the gear and instructions; we will be climbing for about 2 hours to get to the summit of Qampa Mountain, 5,520 meters. There will be some steps. Once we get to the summit, you'll have breathtaking vistas and enjoy the peaks around you. After we've rested, we descend to the base camp, where we have our lunch. Then finally, we hike back to Pacchanta, where you will have the option to soak in the hot spring with a stunning view of Ausangate Mountain. Finally, in the afternoon, we take the bus to return to Cusco.

The experience was great! It was our first time attempting a glacier summit on such an altitude and dealing with all the gear (crampons ropes etc) and we had no problems, guides were really helpful, explained everything and helped us set up. The expedition consisted of 4 participants and there were two guides with us. The provided food was great, there was a lot of variety and it was tasty. We managed to get the summit, the most difficult to deal with was the altitude. It helped a lot to acclimatise before. We spent some time in Cuzco and did the Salkantay trek before that. Camp was set up very comfortably, there were tents with air mats provided, already waiting for us at the camp. Even the portable toilet set up at the camp was very comfortable and clean. Apart from the summit, the route on the first day was also very pleasant and covered the lakes of Ausangate which were very beautiful. Generally I strongly recommend the experience, the value for money was very high, I do not really have any complaints about the organization.
Our experience with the Qampa 2-day summit was amazing! Our head guide, Urbano, made sure we were well briefed and prepared for the experience. The entire team - assistant guide, porters, and cook - were very friendly and made each moment fun. The food was delicious. Each member of our group (there were 3 of us) made the summit successfully. We felt safe at all times. We learned more about walking/climbing on snow/ice and using rope systems. If you have a good fitness level and are looking for an adventure off the beaten path, I highly recommend this tour.
I recently completed my first glacier mountaineering tour with ice climbing on Nevado Qampa, and I can honestly say it was the best trip I’ve ever made. The scenery was unexpectedly beautiful, and the level of service went over the top. A huge thank you to Guide Urbano, Chef Benigno, and Horse Driver Angel – they were incredible throughout the entire tour. The cuisine prepared by Benigno was outstanding, and the team’s support made everything manageable even though the altitude really impacted endurance. The trek itself was challenging but very well executed, and I felt completely safe under Urbano’s guidance. I had done 4 days of acclimation in Cusco before the climb, which helped a lot, though I would recommend even more time at higher altitude if possible. Despite a few mild headaches during and after the climb, the experience was absolutely worth it. I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone looking for a first-class glacier mountaineering experience – it exceeded all my expectations!
I had an amazing two-day mountain tour to Nevado Qampa in Peru. Everything was perfectly organized, and I experienced so much along the way. Our guide was knowledgeable, attentive, and made sure I felt safe and comfortable at all times. The landscapes were breathta-king, with stunning mountain peaks, deep valleys, and impressive glaciers that made the experience even more special. I highly recommend this tour for anyone looking for a safe and unforgettable adventure in Peru!
We totally enjoyed the tour! We had a great guide, delicious food, nearly every weather condition imaginable and amazing views. We would definitely do it again! (: Thanks a lot!
I went on the short 2 day Ausangate Trek, and I can’t say enough positive things about my experience! I’ve done many guided hikes with other agencies, and I’ve never met a guide so passionate about their work, the mountains, and sharing their culture. My guide, Chino, was also a great photographer, helping with poses and capturing the memories from the weekend. The food was delicious, and I’m not sure how they were able to create such healthy and fun options in a tent. The sleeping gear was also good quality. This views are amazing in Ausungate, and it is well worth the walk. We got to see 12+ lakes, glaciers, alpacas, and several mountains. This is a nice option if you’re tight on time, and I wish I could’ve had more time to do the 5 day version with this agency :)
The meals were always a spectacle and tasted great Never had a shortage of water or food Extra duffel bags were carried by horses so you can over prepare Tents and sleeping bags were set up for you All we had to do was enjoy the hike and our experience Inspired me to do more multi day hikes
After having bad food poisoning, this company showed a very solid refund policy, only keeping the funds they had already committed to the expedition themselves. Very good.
Really nice experience. I was in Cusco for 6 weeks and this was my favorite tour that I did! The guides were very experienced and made me feel safe! The food was also really good and they made us a cake when we got back from the summit!! Such a fun adventure if you are looking to try mountaineering for the first time.
We did the Qampa Climbing Tour and extended it to 3-days in total. It was an amazing adventure. The views were magnificent. The organization was perfect and everything on-time. Our guide Hector was great, explained us a lot of things and took care of our health condition. And the served food was very good. Remark: The 5.520m summit ascent was challenging and requires some degree of fitness, also given the altitude. To sum up: Definitely recommend it to everyone seeking their Peruvian mountain adventure!
Excellent service, really professional and friendly. I really enjoyed the climbing with the crew of Vidal Expeditions. Flavio our mountain guide was incredible leading inexperienced people to the summit of Qampa mountain 5,520 meters. This was our first ascents over this altitude and we did not have lot of experience. However Flavio made the best job ever to got the summit even we were really slow on the last part. Vidal Expeditions team were awesome, very helpful and happy to share things with us, Miguel our cook was excellent always providing 3 dishe on each meal. Angel and Mario were nice too taking care all our luggages. We really appreciate what they did for us on these two day climbing. I definitely recommend Vidal Expeditions and Flavio.
Qampa climb!! We had 2 incredible days hiking and climbing Qampa mountain around the Ausangate, we were only 2 people who decide to climb this mountain with 5,520m and took the service of Vidal Expeditions. They were great answering our emails and Vidal the owner provide us every details of this trip, our mountain guide was Urbano (Aka Chino) who made even better this two days trip, we hike and visited the 7 lakes on the first day, and he took incredible photos. The second day we woke up super early in order to reach the summit early morning to see the sunrise, after a few hours hike and climb we finally got the summit and got incredible views. Whole team were great for this adventure and I definitely recomment this climb for everyone who wants to experience climbing a mountain over 5,500m. and ask for Chino then you will thanks me later.
We have climbed the Qampa mountain in Ausangate, we were only two people in the excursion and had 5 workers with us, (1 tour guide, 1 chef, 2 horse drivers and 1 chef assitant) they made great job in this 2 days trip. Our guide Vinerson was a native guy from the Andes who climbed a several times this Qampa mountain, the first day was nice because we visited the seven lakes. Thar was great and happy this is included in our tour. Incredible turquoise lakes with Ausangate mountain in the background made outstanding this trip. We hike for 5 hours exploring this such a nice place and Vinerson guided us to each of these even we had chance to see more lakes around our campsite. The second day was the most challenging of this trip because we have to woke up super early in order to reach the Qampa summit for the sunrise, have a breakfast and we have begun the walk to reach the moraine and start hiking on the glacier and fanlly climb the mountain to get the summit. They organized very well this trip, good climbing gears, camping equipment, meals was great, and the team were very professional. We definitely recommend VE and Vinerson for this climb. They will make sure you get the summit and have unforgettable experience.
We were two friends who decided to try Qampa summit. After searching on the google we found Vidal Expeditions and contacted them to see if we could go for this mountain. However they were kind of friendly helping us to organize our climbing tour. It was raining season so no way to reach the summit. Our guide was Chino a very professional man from the Peruvian Andes who was really enthusiastic about the weather and he motivated us to climb the next weekend. So we decided to book a tour tour for that dates. They prepared everything for us(Food, camping gears, team and entire transportation) we just took our bags and necessary equipment and began our adventure. The first day was a long drive about 3 hours until Pacchanta village where we start our hike for 2 hours until our lunch spot located on side of the lake, after explored this nice places we kept hiking to our base camp over 4680m. Our guide Chino provide us the instructions for the climbing after a short rest he took us to see a lake with brown color located a few minutos of hike from our campsite. Day 2, woke up super early 3:00am we have wonderful breakfast made by our cook Angel who is from this surrounded areas. And about 4:00am we left our campsite and hike to Qampa mountain, 1 hour hike we arrive to the moraine where we wear our climbing gears(crampons, rope, harness, helmet, carabiners, etc.) Chino prepared us very well for this experience. Then we climb on the snow for another hour to reach the summit 5.520m where we had an extraordinary view of the sunrise we did not expect to have this awesome view because we were on the rain season. However it was the best moment of my life to see such amazing views. Chino was right when he told us if we have positive mind everything will be fine even we could have nice weather, and that was true even with the difficulty to reach the summit we were super motivated what Chino told us with and we didn’t give us, and the price was this incredible view. We had enough time to enjoy our box lunch at the summit and descend to our campsite then have lunch and hike back to Pacchanta where we enjoy the hot spring to finally return to Cusco. Honestly is was my best experience in my whole life climbing for a first time a mountain over 5.520m. And Chino made incredible job to motivated us about it. If you are thinking to try any mountain in Cusco as your first time look for Chino and Vidal Expeditions they will organize everything for sure and believe me they have the enough experience to put your life in their hands. Thank you Chino and Vidal Expeditions I am sure u will return to Cusco to climb the Apu Ausangate.
Just returned from climbing Qampa mountain with Julian, who made a great job...We had all included in the package, it means transport, all meals (breakfast on the first day you need to pay by your own) The guide Vinersson was really friendly and knowledgeable, thanks to him we got the summit early morning to enjoy the sunrise, the coca tea at the peak help u to feel better once we got 5520 meters. It is good option to be away of the crowd and Vidal Expeditions do the right to preserve the environment with they proyect "Ausangate not trash" and very helpful for our earth. Good quality climbing gears and professional team.
I have been enjoying the adventures with Vidal Expeditions, I just finished a climbing tour around Ausangate mountain in Cusco, my guide was Chino who was very professional since beginning to the end. It was an adventure trip with my wife and me who decided to climb Qampa mountain after our trek to Machu Picchu by the Inca Trail, Our adventure began since I contacted to Vidal and they organized every details of this journey to Peru, since the pick up from the airport in Lima, transfer to our hotel, flight to Cusco, acclimatizations stay there for our Inca Trail, Vidal team was tailored perfectly to our travel desires, Our guide was Jhonatan who was exceptional along the trek, the porters, chef and whole team were incredible doing a hard job for us, I really appreciate everything from them. Machu Picchu at the end of of hike was phenomenal. The things we like most about Vidal Excpeditions is that they can organize a local experience tailored to your needs, They support the local community and people directly, they work closely with local families to create trek through areas that are not permitted by other agencies. I highly recommend them for your adventure in Cusco and also recommend them for technical climbing as well, Specially to Jhonatan and Chino both are incredible tour and climbing guides.
Had such a great days traveling to Peru, i decided to spend extra days in Cusco after to do the trek of Salkantay, i contacted to Vidal Expeditions for my last trip in Cusco. Thank you Raul for a wonderful Qampa climbing 2 days. We went to Ausangate which was a outstanding area perfect place for beginners and novices. I have climbed lots snow hills in Canada, however it was my first time climbing a mountain over 5,520 meters and Raul was very good at guiding me whilst I was on the mountain, whilst challenging my technique and my confidence over 3000 meters! I'm currently learning Spanish and Raul was super patient he spoke perfect English but he encouraged my Spanish as well. Very professional, good conversation and beautiful place (stunning view over the whole of the Andes) to climb. Qampa has grades from 4a's for beginners all the way up to 7a's. We climbed for the regular route with various grades. 100% recommended for everyone who loves to try outdoor activities.
Qampa mountain climb in Ausangate was one of my best experience i have done during my life, and Vidal Expeditions made of it possible with a great climbing team! Angel was our high mountain guide who led us to the summit 5,532 meters, (first time on this kind of elevation) They were very professional providing a great service taking care about every small details during the trip since the information we got a day before our departure from our guide who explained to us the itinerary of 2 days. The first day they come early to pick up and drive towards Pacchanta village where we start our trek after a hike of 5 hours betweend gorgeous lakes and views we arrived to the base camp 4,760m. The second day we woke up early to start climbing with all our gears on, after a few hours climbing we got the summit over 5,532m at 6:18am in time for sunrise that was the highlight in this trip and Ángel made excellent job along the tour. The whole trip was very well organized meals, climbing gears, camping stuff and the team(Chef, horse driver and guide) Highly recommend!

I recommend 100% this agency for the ascent of Qampa. I spent 2 exceptional days thanks to the guide who accompanied me. You can count on his great professionalism, he knows the mountain perfectly and will help and support you throughout the ascent. I was able to experience a sporting challenge but also a cultural immersion. You will be lulled by the Andean stories and traditions told by the guide. If you are looking for a unique experience out of time do not hesitate!
We did the 5,520m Qampa mountain climbing tour. One of the best adventures we had in Peru, we are beginners who found a new way to enjoy life. Our Chinese guide was amazing always guides us very well, informing us of everything necessary to have an unforgettable experience in the Peruvian Andes. The food and all the equipment of Vidal Expeditions, always well organized and happy to help in any way they can. Our recommendation is to wear good clothes for the cold, during the night the temperature drops below zero and if you do not have a good team you will surely have trouble with the cold. Above all, we enjoyed our tour and with Chinese at the helm we still feel much better and happy. Thank you!!
I went for the ascent of the Qampa mountain last week, it was such a beautiful experience in the Peruvian Andes, my guide was the owner Vidal, he was a high mountain professional, his knowledge of mountaineering was excellent, felt super safe in his hand, and learned a lot about climbing during this trip. our cook was Mario and his assistant was Angel, they prepared us a very good meal and a varied snack. I'm confident Vidal will be a great leader while he works at his Enterprise. I really appreciate his time to be my guide on this trip. I'm more than sure I'll be back climbing the Ausangate Mountain with Vidal in the next few years.
