This was one of the most extraordinary experiences I have ever had. What made the Combined Salkantay and Inca Trail so special was that we enjoyed the best elements of two bucket-list hikes together in a single journey. We experienced the dramatic high-altitude wilderness of the Salkantay region before seamlessly transitioning to the history, culture and iconic archaeology of the Inca Trail. The scenery throughout the Salkantay section was simply breathtaking. The trek takes you through an ever-changing landscape of towering Andean peaks, immense valleys and stunning glaciers, with the majestic Nevado Salkantay dominating the horizon for much of the route. One of the most memorable moments was visiting the spectacular alpine lagoons, particularly Humantay Lake with its unreal turquoise waters beneath glacier-covered mountains, and the beautiful Salkantaycocha Lagoon, sitting peacefully beneath the immense ice-covered slopes of Salkantay itself. These places felt almost otherworldly and were among the most beautiful mountain landscapes I have ever seen. Reaching Salkantay Pass was a genuine highlight and personal achievement, but what really surprised me was what came afterwards. The valley connecting the Salkantay route to the start of the Inca Trail was absolutely magical. While the classic trails can understandably be busy at times, this section felt like a hidden world. We walked through spectacular mountain scenery and remote Andean landscapes with a sense of solitude that we really didn't expect on such famous trekking routes. For long stretches, it felt as though we had this incredible valley almost entirely to ourselves. That transition between the grandeur of Salkantay and the anticipation of the Inca Trail created some of the most memorable moments of the entire trip. The Inca Trail then delivered a completely different but equally rewarding experience. The focus shifted from glaciers and mountain wilderness to cloud forests, ancient pathways and remarkable archaeological sites. Having already experienced the grandeur of Salkantay, arriving at the Inca ruins along the trail and ultimately Machu Picchu felt even more meaningful. Rather than choosing between two great treks, this itinerary allowed us to experience the best of both worlds. As incredible as the landscapes were, the people behind the experience made it truly exceptional. Every member of the team looked after us with genuine warmth, professionalism and care from start to finish. The porters, both young and old, were remarkable. Their strength, resilience and positive attitude never ceased to amaze us, and they always greeted us with smiles despite carrying far heavier loads and often arriving well ahead of us each day. The food deserves special mention. Balbino and Ezequiel somehow produced restaurant-quality meals in the middle of the Andes, day after day. Every meal felt like a feast. The variety, freshness, presentation, quantity and quality of the food were astounding, and it was almost impossible to believe what they were able to create from remote mountain camps. Mealtimes were one of the highlights of each day. Most of all, however, our deepest thanks go to our guide, Cesar. Quite simply, he transformed an outstanding hike into an unforgettable life experience. His knowledge of the Andes, Inca history, plants and animals and especially Quechua culture and traditions was extraordinary. More importantly, his passion for sharing that knowledge brought every part of the journey to life. Whether explaining the significance of a mountain, discussing local customs, interpreting archaeological sites or sharing stories passed down through generations, Cesar provided a depth of understanding that no guidebook could ever replicate. What truly set Cesar apart was the personal connection he created with every member of the group. He took the time to get to know us as individuals, tailored his explanations to our interests and made everyone feel welcome and supported throughout the trek. His pride in his culture, genuine kindness and infectious enthusiasm left a lasting impression on all of us. The Combined Salkantay and Inca Trail is not just a hike to Machu Picchu. It is a journey through some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the world, past glaciers and turquoise lagoons, through remote valleys and ancient pathways (some photos attached to show the variety of the landscapes), accompanied by an exceptional team of people. Thanks to Balbino, Ezequiel, the incredible porters and especially Cesar, it became far more than a trek. It was a profound cultural experience and undoubtedly one of the greatest adventures of a lifetime.

Highly recommend the private Inca Trail tour with Trexperience. Very easy booking process, great communication. We were a group of 4 aged 60, 62, 65 & 67, it was hard work! We had trained a reasonable amount prior to arriving, however you cannot train for the altitude! 3 of us were very short of breath, no appetite and headaches, in spite of acclimatising in Cusco for 4 nights beforehand. Thony, our guide was very patient even though we missed lunch on one day and arrived in camp a couple of hours later than expected. However, we made it to the Sun Gate on day 4 which was magnificent and worth the pain! A special mention to Gabriella and Florentino who went above and beyond to assist us. Thank you. Thony was very knowledgeable, who thoroughly enjoyed his job, his enthusiasm rubbed off on everyone. He certainly gave us the strength to finish the trail and kept us motivated. The chef “Teddy Bear” was amazing, we have no idea how he can put together the wonderful meals with limited facilities. The porters did an amazing job, how they carry the equipment and get to the camp in such a short space of time is unbelievable. Don’t think about it, just book it with Trexperience, you won’t be disappointed.
This trip was incredible! Roger, our guide, was incredibly phenomenal. He expressed so much interest in our enjoyment and understanding of the Inca sites we visited! He led excellently with Balbino, the second guide and they helped us every step of the way. The food? INCREDIBLE:) our porters and chefs were absolutely fantastic and made our experience absolutely amazing. 10 out of 10 would recommend this company and guide and trip. Please try, you won’t be disappointed:)
Our 4 day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu was amazing. Our guide, Filio, was excellent. He took care of our group. We had one member get sick and he was able to ensure we could still keep trekking and were able to rest and recover. Our chef, Beltran, and porters were SO amazing. Watching the porters run the trail that we were slowly trekking was quite the scene. Overall TreXperience handled our group from booking to final lunch and everything was flawless! I would 100% recommend this tour group and Filio as a tour guide to anyone interested in doing this trek.
The best experience we could’ve asked for. Alan was our tour guide and he did an amazing job explaining the history about the Inca’s and all the sacred places, also keeping us motivated during the long hike. Leandro and his kitchen team were amazing, preparing some of the best food during the hike. Lots of food and options, it’s impressive all they can prepare up in the trails. Benedicto and his porters team were always making us feel like part of the family, they also worked super hard moving all the equipment from camp to camp to make sure everything was ready for us once we arrived at the camp. They were always waiting for us with smiles and clapping, congratulating us every time we reached the camp. Blessed to had such a great team for my 4 day Inca Trail!
Our guide, Renato was so knowledgeable, kind and accomodating. You could really feel his passion in everything he talked about and he made the trip so special. Efrain was also very helpful and a pleasure to be around for 4 days. The head chef Daniel and his su chef Jaime prepared the most delicious meals. Damason, the waiter would always bring out the food with the biggest smile and had the loveliest presence. Many thanks to Alfredo and all the other porters, the work they do is really unfathomable.
The trek was an incredible experience with great organization, awesome food and a lot of insightful information from our guide Roberto! I can totally recommend this adventure!
We had the most extraordinary experience on the Inca Trail with TreXperience, and I cannot recommend this team highly enough. Fernando was outstanding in helping to guiding our journey—staying with us, sharing points of interest, and orchestrating all the details of camp each day. Alejandro and Juvenal were magicians in the “kitchen”—I can’t fathom how they were able to whip up such culinary masterpieces, as beautiful as they were delicious—while on trail. The team thought of everything and made us feel totally pampered: Coca teatimes, supplies as needed, massages (thank you Alicia!) and a few delightful surprises along the journey... We even had the luxury of a baño tent and a hot shower each day—comforts we never imagined possible on the trail. Though most of the porters spoke primarily Quechua, they were unfailingly friendly, cohesive as a team, and deeply motivating. This was by far the most amazing, challenging, and spiritual journey we have ever undertaken. The beauty will make you cry. The care of the TreXperience team made it unforgettable. We are profoundly grateful.
Our experience with TreXperience was nothing short of spectacular — an extraordinary and even spiritual adventure. We began with high expectations, all of which were wildly exceeded. The team took exceptional care of us throughout, and we felt deeply grateful to share the journey with them. The meals along the Inca Trail were astonishing — some truly rivaled dishes we’ve enjoyed in top restaurants! If you’re considering TreXperience, look no further. I recommend them with the highest enthusiasm.
Me and my boyfriend took the 5 day trek to Machu Picchu. The tour was amazing! The guys (porters/chefs/guide) clearly know what they’re doing. Everything was always on time, there were no slip ups, mixed bags or anything like that. Instead, we got a luxurious experience of a delicious and filling breakfast, lunch and dinner, all eaten in a dining tent. Food was amazing, there was always plenty to choose from and in very good amounts- thank you chef Santos! Food was always served with a hot drink and/or water. We got woken up by our guide each morning ant 5:00 AM and were immediately handed a hot drink (coca tea or hot water-your choice) to start our day with. After breakfast we filled our water bottles and started the trek usually around 6:00/6:30. Before the trek, everyone would get a snack (fruit+biscuits/crackers). We would have lunch around 11:30-12:30, and it was always very filling. Then we would continue the trek and reach camp around 16:30-17:30. Our guide Elias was amazing, he was always happy to point out to interesting plants and animals, he would explain archeological sites and their significance very well. During the trek, he was very patient and encouraging with every member of the group. He was always very reassuring and was carrying all necessary equipment if we struggled with altitude sickness. And personally he was also very funny and kind. The trek was very relaxed and I never felt rushed. The porter team (lead by porter Santos) were super well-organised. They were fast! Everything was always waiting for us when we arrived to camp and it made the whole experience feel effortless for us- we never had to worry about our stuff being misplaced etc. Tents were big, we had our own sleeping bag (which I would recommend to -9 for everyone if you’re able), we rented air mattresses and we always slept very well! Bring earplugs if able, as sometimes the campsites have other people arriving/setting off at different times. Overall, I would recommend TreXperience to all of my friends who’d like to hike Inca Trail. The views of Machu Picchu are unforgettable.
I did the 5 day Inca Trail (Slow Version) with TreXperience in July 2025. The trek was an absolutely fantastic experience, from start to finish - right from being gently woken up in the morning with hot coca tea to while we were on the trail to when we got into our tents - every thing was very well thought out and planned. Our guide Elias was phenomenal. He did an amazing job in assessing the pace of our group, gently encouraging us when we needed it, and always providing us with a plan of the next day the night before. I really appreciated him taking the time to explain the historical and cultural significance of all the ruins along the way (and at Machu Picchu) and pointing out beautiful flowers, plants and birds along the way. Elias has a great sense of humour, is always energetic and has a plan for every situation. He was central to the success of our trek. A massive kudos also goes to our head porter, Santos and head chef, Santos. They were always on schedule and there were no mistakes with the logistics of the trek. Our tents were always ready when we arrived at camp with hot water provided shortly. A special mention goes to the quality of the food - I was floored by the sheer quality and quantity provided at each meal, with no dishes repeated over the course of the trek. We even had dessert after dinner! Our menu included avocado salad, lomo saltado, mango ceviche, soups, fried chicken, pasta and lots more. Not to mention a round of tea before dinner every day. After my trek I would happily recommend TreXperience to anyone planning on doing the Inca Trail. They are consummate professionals who have been doing this for quite some time and it shows.
Roger was our guide and he could not have done a better job. He took great care of us and taught us the history of the Incas and about the nature of this gorgeous country. I cannot recommend Roger enough: kind, competent, and patient. Special shout-out to our chef, the gregarious Juvenal who cooked magical meals every day. The food was such a luxury. Thank you to the porters who made it all so much easier. I hope to bring my small kids here one day when they’re old enough to conquer a 14k mountain.
This was the trip of a lifetime. Roger was the guide that made the trip. He knows every fact along the trail and had a great attitude. Juvena cooked up some of the best meals of my life…all with a smile. I don’t think I can go back beaches this trip can’t be matched!
This was a family trip that we will never forget! Our guide Sara took amazing care of us. When our daughter got sick during the trip, she arranged for special meals and teas to help them complete the trek. Felix, our cook, prepared unbelievable Peruvian meals along the way. Each day was a unique menu. Our porters, Bernardo and the team, were fantastic. While the hiking was difficult, the whole team supported and helped us along the way. The views and stops were breathtaking. I couldn’t recommend this tour any more highly!!
The reason why this trip was so successful is because of our tour guides and the group that we chose – we chose Trexperience to run our trip and plan everything from beginning to end. Are guides were Roger and Giovanni. We had 11 in our group that were a group of friends and family that did many months of research to choose the perfect guide group for the Classic inka trail. We were well cared for and the food was of course incredible! We’ve never experienced such a special trip in our lives! If we wouldn’t have had the Guides that we had and the group of porters and chefs- there’s no way our trip would have been as memorable or as comfortable! We were blessed with this experience and are grateful for a Trexperience for making our trip to Peru trip of a lifetime!
The good: caring and knowledgeable guides (Roger and Yovani!) Imparted so much wisdom around the trail and the culture. Our group had various levels of hiking experience yet we all arrived safe and sound and the same time. The insights into the local flora and fauna was well appreciated! The food was incredible! Thanks to master chef Julio César! The porters were outstanding, providing exemplary service and sleeping arrangements. The pictures speak for themselves. The weather fluctuated so much from freezing to hot to dry to torrential rain yet this did not dampen our spirits! The bad: we brought too much stuff! The company provided so many extras (pillows, liners, snacks, ponchos etc) so we could have brought less! It's hard to imagine a better orchestrated Inca experience! Note we did the Huayna Picchu climb after Macchu picchu which was daunting but so worth it! Not for the faint of heart!
From the moment we began this tour we knew we were in for a treat! TreXperience paid huge attention to every detail in the lead up to our Inca Trail. We were fascinated by this attention to detail throughout the trip! The food we were offered for breakfast, lunch and dinner was nothing short of miraculous, considering where these meals were being prepared and being carried along a never ending trail! The camp site was exceptional, private portaloo, fresh water to wash with, comfortable tents with lovely sleeping bags. The morning views from here were a real 'pinch me' moment. The porters that made all of this possible were a sight to behold, and always a smile on their face! Without a doubt, the shining star of this trip was our guide Julio. He was a fountain of knowledge that paced the information perfectly. He led us throughout the 4 days and supported us all individually when we needed it. He called us his 'family' and certainly treated us as such! The trek itself is a once in a lifetime exorrience, with views surrounding you at every turn! It's not easy by any means, but definitely doable. Day 2 was the toughest day as we conquered the highest peak, Dead Woman's Pass. This is all forgotten on Day 4 as you finally lay your eyes on the majestic Machu Picchu! And what better way to celebrate our accomplishment but with a few pisco sours, with new friends! Thank you TreXperience and muchas gracias Julio! Mucho Huaww Huaww!!!
The guide, Julio was brilliant! Super well timed trip - amazing chef and porters providing support & really the most spectacular pictures and videos!
From the moment my family and I arrived, we were greeted with such genuine hospitality. Even if you’re a beginner hiker, you won’t feel left behind because our tour guide, Renato always made sure we weren’t too far behind and the rest of the team (the porters) will be cheering you on once you start the hike, and when you end the hike. However, this amazing experience couldn’t have happened without the porters. Big shout out to Esteban (the head chef), Anderson (the sous chef), Abel and everyone else for making sure that we had the best camping experience ever. Without these guys, the whole trip wouldn’t happen. They work so hard and are so humble and I’m forever grateful that we got to spend it with them. Once again, our tour guide, Renato made our family vacation 10/10 and you will not be disappointed!
Amazing trip, the guide Roger was very informative and a great personality. The chef and team of porters were incredible with the work they put in. Would 100% recommend.
Just finished a 4-day hike in Peru and it was tough but worth it. While hiking the ancient Incan paths it truly gives you a great appreciation of the the livelihood of the Incas and of the current locals who have to cross similar mountains to work (such as our porters). Our guide Renato, walked in a very slow and steady pace - great for beginners like us. Day 2 was really tough as we had to cross 2 peaks and we lagged behind, in day 3 we were overcome with fatigue and requested he followed our pace which he did. We learned a lot about Inca history and also learnt about local life, appreciate Renato for candidly sharing about porter’s life in general, it was very interesting. Bonus - he really takes a lot of good pictures for us. The hike wouldn’t have been possible without the team, including head porter Ruben and his team of porters. The team was so quick in packing and unpacking our tents and we are grateful that that did all the heavy lifting of carrying all these items and setting up the tent before we arrive. Meals were surprisingly delicious and luxurious for the remote setting. Also the attention to detail is top notch from cutting the fruits into shapes and table settings with bird napkins. They even baked a cake on the last day, how is that even possible?! The highlight was seeing and getting close to the llamas and also spotting an Andean rabbit! Highly recommend trexperience! They made everything as luxurious and as comfortable as possible, which was great especially for our group whom are primarily beginners to hiking. The porters also set up portable toilet for us which is nice as we have the option to choose between using our own group toilet or the public toilet. We use the portable toilet a lot. Wished we were able to speak the local language to converse with the porters and hear their stories.
Eddie, Werner, and the entire crew were fabulous. Eddie is passionate about his heritage, and he inspired as well as educated our entire group along the way. We were also so impressed with how the chef, Lució, managed to create 3 course meals daily. The entire trip was one of the most challenging as well as magical experiences we’ve had.
It was amazing! It was a beautiful expirience and the guides Wiliam Elvis an David did an amazing job. The trail was truly hard but the views were breath taking
My husband and I completed the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in the last week of April, and I want to give a huge shoutout and THANK YOU to TreXperience, especially to Christian and Sergio. They did an amazing job leading the hardworking chefs and porters. This trek wouldn't have been successful without their dedication and support! They made sure our tents were ready and delicious meals were ready for us when we arrived at camp. When I was struggling, Sergio stayed behind to keep me motivated, pointing out exquisite orchids, hummingbirds, and toucans along the way. I highly recommend TreXperience!
My fiancé and I just went for the five day four night private tour to Machu Picchu along the historical Inca Trail. The trip was led by Master Rene, who was so flexible, knowledgeable and spoke great English, which really enabled us to really understand and appreciate the culture the history and the difficulty of what we just hiked, the complexity of everything there was to learn see and know of the Inca times. The head chef, Julio Caesar was outstanding I cannot express in words, the quality of all meals throughout the entire trip. The masseuse was fantastic and a really appreciated way to end each day. The large group of porters were so friendly, organized and professional. We very much appreciated the hospitality. Simply can’t express the gratitude for what the entire team made this trip for us, could not recommend an advocate for this team and this company enough!
Tour Operator: I had a great rapport with TreXperience. With respect to communication, planning, attention to detail they were spot on. They also offered a group discount since we were 8. Hiking accessories was part of the package which was amazing as we didn't have to carry personal equipment. Guide: Abeladore is patient, understanding to each hikers need, jovial, extremely knowledgeable, caring by checking on us at every stage of the hike. He provided ample of time to take photos and videos. Chef: I was amazed the food provided was nutritious, fresh and chef pulled off some amazing presentation. Porters: Every day they cheered for us along the way. They would provide warm water during lunch and end of hike so we could clean up. They were super amazing.
I had the chance to do inca trail with Trexperience and to be accompanied by Abelardo our guide, who made this trip so interesting, so amazing and so easy..the tour operator was excellent, they prepared everything in advance for us..every day we used to reach the camp with plenty of food, warm water, ready tents, they were paying attention to each small detail in the trip. In the morning, we wake up with coca tea, warm water and delicious breakfast..the cook, the porters and everyone else were doing a great job..making sure we are happy and comfortable And special thanks to our Guide, Abelardo because without him, we wouldn't make it. He was kind, helpful, knowledgeable, supportive. He was more than a guide. He becomes a friend..he gives us time to rest, to take picture and he also listens to our suggestions and answers our questions.
The most magical journey ever passing past 4 other mini Maccu picchus on the way to Maccu Picchu. Incredible food and hospitality!
It was an unforgettable experience. Our guide Filio is excellent he told us their ancestral traditions and help about everything during the trip. After we webt back to our tent for lunch we hit by hail storm and all the crew did their best to protect us they are very professional. Thanks for all Filio, our driver, our chef and second chef they are the best. And also food, food was fantastic as well.
Jose Abad of adventure people tree experience was an exceptional guide. He went above and beyond in customer service, support, knowledge and excellent organisation to help all our group of 7 succeed and enjoy an amazing experience, I had difficulties as I was slower and less fit as the others in group but Jose supported me brilliantly all the way. He is Great trek leader, inspiring and passionately knowledgeable about the history of his country, and with his excellent team of porters ( who he directed to help me when I was struggling at the end of day two) and chef/assistant chef were an exceptional team who worked tirelessly and passionately to ensure every one of us had an amazing experience. The food was exceptional and camping facilities.
We planned our trip to Peru and knew we wanted to do the Inka trail because of the amazing things we'd heard but you truly won't understand what a phenomenon experience this is until you do it. Our guides were Eddie el Puma and Julio. They went above and beyond sharing their culture from us and making sure everyone had everything they needed. They genuinely took the time to get to know us and make us feel like family. The food was incredible. We've done many multy day tours in different parts of the world and this has to be one of the best foods we've ever had. The meals changed each lunch to dinner with tons of options and lots of variety. We always had leftovers and never felt hungry. The views were incredible. The people in our group as equally incredible and we made some lifelong friends. If youre looking for time to reconnect with mama pacha and yourself - this is the trip for you.
The service was amazing and finishing the trail was such a rewarding experience! Edy and Julio were the best tour guides ever! It was amazing to connect with the Incan culture while appreciating the historical land that we were on. Overall a fantastic time.
Absolute amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience!!! Stunning sites and amazing history. Most importantly I have never had an experience like with Trexperience. This is a fantastic company where every employee takes meticulous care of you, which made the challenge of the hike luxurious! Even small details such as origami swan napkins at dinner or hot water buckets each night at the tent for washing yourself. I cannot recommend Trexperience more!!!
We traveled 30 hours from Korea to Peru for our honeymoon. This was one of the most anticipated parts of our trip, and our guide Manolo perfectly met my expectations. He reassured us when we felt physically exhausted and took care of us the whole time. Main chef Alejandro provided abundant and delicious meals every day, leaving no room for hunger. All the porters we were with were also very kind. If you recommend this tour, I sincerely hope it is with Manolo's team!
Our private 4 day Inca trek to Machu Picchu was absolutely amazing. Our guide, Filio was outstanding! He was kind, encouraging and his passion for the history of the Incas and local culture as well as his vast knowledge of the local plant life was incredibly informative. We learned so much from him. His calm demeanor and fun personality helped make our trek a fun and unforgettable experience. Our chef, Alejandro was top notch as well. He catered to our dietary needs and made the most delicious meals. He was so kind and sweet too! We enjoyed our porters. They worked so hard. Witnessing them going up and down the mountains so quickly with their huge packs was incredible! We couldn’t have asked for a better crew and trip!!
A group of us did the private 4D Inca Trail tour with Abelardo and we could not have asked for a better experience!! The trek was quite challenging so it took us a few days to pick up our pace but Abelardo was always patient and motivated us to keep going throughout the whole trek. It was admirable how passionate he is about what he does and he had abundant knowledge about everything about the trail and beyond. Also, our team of porters and chefs were incredible. They are the real heroes of the whole trek. Can't appreciate them enough for taking care of us from beginning to end and our chef for spoiling us with so much delicious food! 100% recommend Trexperience for those who are looking to do the Inca Trail!!!
I did the 4 day Inca Trail with Willian Elvis and Yoner in late August of 2024. To be honest, I had no idea what I signed up to, however the guides were extremely helpful and made extra effort to stop at each point of interest to give us detailed information, both about the trail, as well as local culture. The trail was challenging, yet rewarding in parts, but the porters/guides were patient and supportive throughout. I had some apprehensions as a solo traveler, however I felt truly welcomed into the group. Rolando was also an incredibly good and flexible chef, fattening us up with more food than we could dream of. There was also a great variety of food options. I would certainly recommend TreXperience.
We are a family of 4 with two children who wanted to complete the Inca trail and could not be happier with the results. Our guide Monolo was patient, knowledgeable and made multiple adjustments to make sure our children were safe and comfortable at all times. Everything was planned well and we are grateful for the experience.
Hiking to Machu Picchu has been a life long bucket list trip for me. I came as prepared as I could be, and it was definitely nothing I could have ever anticipated in the best way ( apart from hiking miles and miles of stairs each day)! One of the main reasons this hike was as successful and enjoyable as it was, is due to Abelardo, Sebastian, our particular cooks, and porters that we hired to be our guides through TreXperience. TreXperience is one of the few LOCAL Peruvian Inka Trail guide companies ( not based out of the US or Canada). It’s hard to put into words the physical, emotional, and spiritual experience hiking the Inca Trail is, and I know my experience was enhanced because of our particular guides. Abelardo was full of knowledge, history, and passion for his heritage as well as being in nature. His insights and soul made our trip deeper and more meaningful. He gave us opportunities to feel into our experiences, the Inca people, Cusco, and Peruvian history. This isn’t his just his job, this is his way of life. He invited us to truly lean in to our experience and take the time to be on the mountain. Our assistant guide, Sebastian was knowledgeable, well spoken, kind, personable, genuine, fun and deeply available to our group. He even raced me down the stairs after Dead Woman Pass. A freedom that I won’t forget. This experience that has changed me and the way I see the world. Our driver, Giovanni was safe, careful, kind, and courteous on the road. Amilcar, our chef, made food each day an experience! As someone who backpacks, never would I have anticipated the amazing meals we were provided. It was healthy, filling, and absolutely delicious. I had such an authentic and deeply moving experience along the trail. We were able to meet our porters and cooks, connect and share with them as they shared with us. These people made it possible for me to live out a life long dream. Do you research- and ask for THIS group of men who made this possible. I don’t write reviews- but it was such a standout group that I absolutely want everyone who ever hikes this trail to do it with these men. You will not regret it. This was not just a hike, it was a portal to parts of myself I needed to meet, as well as to a place in history that I will ever be connected to. If hiking to Machu Picchu is on your bucket list, don’t do it without Abé, Sebastian, Giovanni, Amilcar, and the group of porters associated with our hike through TreXperience.
Great service! Abelardo and Sebastian were great. These guys really know their stuff! Ask for them and you won’t regret. We had a wonderful trip, thx to the porters, chef, and staff. The food was top notch, the hike was challenging, but the history and views were incredible! This company is top notch and easy to help accommodate our needs. We also did a tour of Cusco, sacred valley, hiked Huayna mountain, and finished our trip with Rainbow mountain/red valley. We had a blast.
Overall, it was a great hike, fantastic views, tough but not that bad. Our guides (Torro and Puma) were very good. They had a lot of patience and time to help everyone and really pushed to keep the energy levels up when everyone was tired. The real heroes were the porters who not only completed the same route as us but did it faster and with bigger and heavier bags. I can only hope they are being well paid because they really deserve it. As someone who has been on other multi day hikes, it felt weird watching someone else carry your clothes while you just carry a day bag. That being said, the one thing I would consider a problem is how infrequent the water refills were possible, in some areas more than others, it was needed more and more. Also tipping was a point of contention. Naturally we wanted to be fair with our tips but since we were limited to what we had brought on day 1 and not spent on drinks or snacks, it would be nice to have a clear understanding of the tips ahead of time.
This was one in a lifetime experience! The landscapes, to be challenged to complete every stage by the hand of our tour guides Jose & Isa and of course with the incredible work of our porters crew makes this Inka trail amazing!
I went on the 4 day hike with Eddy Puma the travel guide, Oscar the chef and Felix the head Porter. Eddy and the team elevated the experience from a hike to an experience I will not forget. I would define Eddy and the teams approach as passion, positivity and fun. All the porters were positive and passionate about the experience we were undergoing. Eddys knowledge and passion on the Inca history made the hike. He invited us to partake in Inca tradition. He was always smiling, always positive and always patient with the group. I will not forget this trip. Thankyou boys!
Had an incredible trip with amazing people! We were very unlucky because there was a fire on the Inca trail but our tour guide, Wilian, found us an awesome alternate route to do. He is an amazing tour guide! The food was incredible and the porters were incredible. Oscar, the chef, was making incredible meals at every meal. An amazing service all round! The admin from the company could have been better, but I think they could easily improve on that front.
Great hike with excellent crew. The porters were amazing im their strength and dedication. The all came out to rescue us one night when we were caught out in the dark and rain. The food was excellent. Great Chef and assistant, Our guide Sara was great - very knowledgeable, helpful, and diligent. She did a great job of getting a group of 70 year olds up and over the Inca trail from km 82 to Machu Picchu. We highly recommend TreXperience.
The trip was magical and unbelievably amazing. I am a 70 year old female in fairly good shape athletically. The 4 day trek was probably the most challenging physical feat I have ever accomplished. I was part of a private group with my boyfriend and another couple, ages 74 to 75. We were definitely the oldest people on the trail. Sara, our tour guide, was patient and accommodated all our special elderly needs. She adjusted the pace and motivated us with every grueling Inca stone step. The chef and assistant chef prepared mass quantities of delicious and incredible meals. The presentation was high end restaurant quality. I can’t say enough about the porters. They greeted us at every meal with applause and a high five, and waited on our every need. I highly recommend TreXperience. You will not be disappointed. Kudos to Sara and the whole team!
This was truly the experience of a lifetime, and something i would highly recommend. Our guide Sara was knowledgeable and gave us a great education in Inca history and traditions. She could not have been more friendly and fun - people from other tour groups were a little jealous I think. Just to be clear from the outset - my husband and I hate camping and tents but in order to the Inca Trail, tents are a necessity. That being said, the amazing porters (Soldado, Puma, Barnaby and the rest) as well as chef Senobio and his assistant Xavier very much softened the blow. The food was delicious, the service impecable. We felt welcome at all times. The hikes themselves were absolutely breathtaking, the Andes are spectacular, the Inca archeological sites are a wonder. Having Sara there to explain their function and features was ideal. I will say that the physical challenge of the Inca trail should not be taken lightly. I recommend at least 2 days in Cusco before undertaking it - bring proper broken in hiking boots, and get some good cardio training for a few months beforehand - you'll see the benefit on day 2 for sure! Some handy tips - Bring earplugs - campsites are noisy places, and the wake ups are early - Wet wipes are essential - Be open minded, be in the moment, and let the Inca history culture into your heart
I recently completed the 4 day inca trail in a group of four with trexperience we had 11 porters and one chef to carry everything needed for four days of camping and meals every day. These porters are superhuman hiking up granite inca trails with 20kg of supplies tents and cooking equipment. Our guide was Pepe who was the best guide you could wish for. At breakfast he would outline our day and give us lots of information so we knew what to expect on the trails he would give us information on the history of the inca people and the ruins we came across. Pepe is a very knowledgeable guide and he is a credit to Trexperience he is super wow wow..
