Interesting way to spend an evening in Cusco. The planetarium is well appointed; first you meet in an open area to hear about the constellations. Then outside with several huge telescopes pointed at various star, etc. Then in to another room with more explanation about the Incas and their knowledge of astronomy. Blankets were provided but it was still cold!! Layer up!

Very nice experience! The show in the dome was good, the fantasy+music part trippy fun, and the presentation in the planezarium room was really well made and interesting. After that, we were able to observe the stars through four telescopes. Don't miss.
The Cusco Planetarium is a newish and scrappy operation, run by people who truly love astronomy and want to share it. There's an interesting presentation and a cool planetarium-style show, but without a doubt the highlight was actually getting to look through telescopes to see stars and planets.
We had a private session with Anna Maria and she gave a beautiful presentation about Inkan astronomy and Peruvian climatology and highlighted the differences between northern and southern skies. We were also lucky enough to be able to see the faint shadow of the Milky Way despite being right outside the city center. Highly recommended for those who are looking for an interesting but less strenuous activity while you acclimate to the altitude. She was passionate about her work and the world needs more scientists like the folks to keep the operation going.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An absolutely unforgettable experience! We were so impressed by the creativity, enthusiasm, and passion of the entire Cusco Planetarium team. The facilities are gorgeous, and every detail—from the seamless hotel pickup and drop-off to the thoughtful presentation was handled beautifully. What impressed us most was their incredible knowledge and genuine passion for sharing Peru’s rich, lengthy, and wonderfully diverse history through the stars. The presentation was fascinating, entertaining, and engaging, and we were captivated from beginning to end. It gave us a completely new appreciation for the connection between the Andean people, the cosmos, and their ancient traditions. You can tell how much they love what they do, and that passion made the experience truly special. We highly recommend Cusco Planetarium to anyone visiting Cusco. Truly an experience you should not miss!
I was unsure how this tour would be. I am so happy I took the tour. The guides at the planetarium are amazing and bring the experience to life. Guides consistently were checking the telescopes to make sure we were viewing the correct thing. Overall an amazing experience.
Good experience in the dome learning about constellations and the southern hemisphere with The Black Llama constellation! Good length for the visit! Very atmospheric! Not a so big crowd so nice! Staff were doing a comedy like explanation ! It is best for observing Venus and seeing the constellations and understanding them!
This is an excellent well run family planetarium! The staff are all knowledgeable and really teach you about stars, constellations, and the Inka history attached to it all.
The Cusco Planetarium was a really interesting experience and a great way to learn about the skies of Peru and how the Incas understood the stars. The guides were funny, engaging, and made the whole presentation entertaining while still sharing a lot of information. I learned much more than I expected about astronomy, Inca constellations, and the night sky over Cusco. The combination of education, humor, and stargazing made for a memorable evening. Highly recommended if you’re visiting Cusco and want something a little different from the usual tourist attractions!
Such an incredible experience! Joanna and Sasha were both hilarious and very informative. The entire staff was kind and even provided a step stool (without us asking) so that my son could see the telescopes. Would absolutely do it again! Such a sweet family business.
Nice experience, special and educational
What a lovely way to spend a couple of hours in the evening. All of the presentations were so well done and it was fun and interactive and I learned a lot!! All of the staff were engaging and helpful and it was a really lovely experience. Thanks guys!!! I highly recommend this!
Unique experience learning about how the Incas used the sky to determine seasons and agriculture growing times. I wish we had been able to see more through the telescopes and the dome experience was a bit hard to understand with the presenter’s accent. The blankets were a nice touch and the presenter in the main building very engaging. Worth a visit!
Had such a lovely visit! It was great to learn more about the astronomy of thr region, along with the specific legends related to the Inca. Both of our presenters were funny and informative, very interactive with the group! It was cloudy on the night we went, but I still recommend a visit even without this aspect!
The Cusco Planetarium was such a unique and enriching experience! It was the perfect combination of education and wonder. The presentation gave fascinating insights into the solar system and how different civilizations, especially the Incas, interpreted and used the stars. Learning how the Incan culture connected astronomy with daily life and spirituality was truly eye-opening. We stepped outside to gaze through telescopes and saw Saturn, star clusters and the moon. The guides were engaging, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience both accessible and inspiring. If you’re in Cusco and want something meaningful and different beyond the usual sights, I’d highly recommend the planetarium. It’s a beautiful way to connect science, culture, and the cosmos
This activity was tacked onto our trip because we had nothing going on this particular evening. First off, I wanted to like this, I just kept waiting for it to get interesting, but the presentation was very poorly done and just confusing. It was actually so bad it was funny. The handful of people I talked to in the group were just confused. Read the bad reviews and believe them. Total waste of time and money.
Excellent evening experience, really informative friendly team and well organised shuttle from and back to central Cusco. Dress warmly, highly recommended (book direct via their website)
Nearly two hours flew by because the experience was so immersive. Lovely washrooms, blankets provided because it gets cold, and the funniest staff make for a great way to spend a chunk of time in Cusco!
This was a unique experience and I would definitely do it again. The experience is broken into 3 parts: a traditional planetarium style viewing of the stars in both hemispheres, focusing on the zodiac and constellations, ending with the Incan constellations; a talk on the Incan beliefs and use of the sky; and outdoor viewing of the stars through a telescope. We went in a cloudy night, but they did a great job of keeping an eye on the sky and pulling us when the clouds broke so we could get a good view of the moon. Everyone who works there is passionate and knowledgable and made the experience very enjoyable.
gerade eben Neu Great experience. Excellent show and demonstration of the southern hemisphere stars. The planetarium team presents the information with huge enthusiasm. Highlight is the possibility to look through large telescopes to watch some stars. The trip is worth it!
Excellent Learning Environment and Great Place. It is for all ages and would be a special and Beautiful experiment . Best of the best one of the Cusco tours.
It felt a little bit rushed, but other than that, such an awesome experience. It was well organized and the staff was super enthusiastic. Loved it, definitely recommended!
The outing was supposed to be divided in 3 parts: an oral presentation with slides, a video presentation in the dome and stargazing outside. The oral presentation was quite lame, the video projector in the dome malfunctioned so we didn’t get to see it and no refund or partial refund was offered, and it was cloudy so almost no stars were visible. Even if it hadn’t been cloudy, the location receives too much light pollution from Cusco for good star gazing. Although they were pleasant, the staff didn’t have very good presentation skills. I definitely found that this was not good value for money and wouldn’t recommend it.
The staff was amazing, everyone was super interactive and obviously loved their jobs. Learned a lot about the Inca history. Recommended for all!
The Cuzco Planetarium is worth the journey to get there! The ladies who gave the presentations inside the planetarium are so passionate about their jobs and presented the info about the stars and Inca astronomy with so much enthusiasm and humour. Looking into the telescopes was amazing and they even helped me take a picture through the telescope with my iphone! Please support this family owned attraction that doesn't receive any government or institutional funding.
This experience was amazing, the sky was so clear and we could see a lot of stars. The staff from the Planetarium Cusco is amazing, they know a lot about the general and Inka cosmology, and they connect with all the people, even if you are young or older, it was beautiful to see the star and constellations. I definitely recommend this tour.
I absolutely love stars so this tour was amazing for me! Joana was so knowledgeable and passionate about the subject and José was great with adjusting the telescope for us. Nice to see another side of Cusco and learn more about astronomy!
Very informative. Great guides that made astronomy a lot of fun. Got to see the planets and learn about how the Inkans used the constellations to predict their future. My 12yo and 17yo stayed awake for the entire thing and even talked to us about it! That’s a win in my book! Unfortunately, no hotel pick-up and drop-off, but great just the same!
I really enjoyed this experience! I learned how the Incas studied the stars. I learned a lot that was both historic and modern knowledge. Great guide!
We LOVED it - we learnt a lot and got to see stars and planets through telescopes. The staff were knowledgeable and passionate. Would recommend to everyone!
Three activities: a planetarium dome with basic astronomy talk, a very interesting slide show about Inca relationship with celestial bodies and viewings through three different telescopes. An off the beaten path activity in tourist-laden Cusco.
Pick up on time. Short ride to the Plentarium. A talk about the animals the Inca saw in the Milky Way. Out to look through telescopes at stars, constellations and a planet that was visible. All well sorted by very enthusiastic staff.
This was a great experience. Although it was cloudy and we couldn't see much, our two guides made up for it. We learned a lot about everything Peruvian as far as nature and astonomy goes.
The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff were not only very informative but alot of fun! There was a good variety of things to see and learn about.
This was terrible. I felt like a cow being milked for money - there were three groups being hustled from room to room, and the whole thing was *scripted* down to even the intonation of words and pauses. Could not be any less improvised or any less interesting. Truly appalling, would give zero stars if allowed
The site overlooks the city so the light pollution is bad. A great pity because close by is the high plateau where the night skies must be fabulous. The presentation was aimed at young children which didn't suit the adult audience. The only ok feature was the telescopes, which were all "standard amateur" but gave interesting perspectives nonetheless.
We only heard about this place through word of mouth from another traveller. Short and sweet visit, it started at 5:30pm at the meetup place and we were back for 8:00pm. The experience was divided into 3 parts: virtual night sky projector, using real telescopes outside, and slideshow presentation of Inka astronomy. For me, the virtual project bit made me a bit motion sick so I had to step outside near the end but I recovered and was able to enjoy the rest of the night. Using the telescopes was so special, and the final presentation was memorable and fun for families as well.
What a special experience. This was such a thrilling way to experience the Cusco night sky, and see the stars from the Southern Hemisphere view point for the first time. The staff is knowledgeable, funny, and excited to share their passion for astronomy and their culture. This is a must do for anyone visiting Cusco.
The tour was awesome The staff was amazing I love their passion for the universe and the passion to share their knowledge Well worth going
The guides were amazing, knowledgeable, and with a great and entertaining approach to delivering information about the Inca cosmovision of the sky, as well as learning about the general sky. Top-notch experience and I would definitely recommend not missing this! Greetings from Costa Rica!
The planetarium experience could have been amazing, but, for us, it fell short mostly because the sky was quite hazy. That happens largely because of the pollution in Cusco. Our guide only showed the Greek version of the constellations in the planetarium. The presentation before we went into talked about the Inca general view of celestial objects. The telescopes set up outside were interesting but most of us had seen that before. The haze caused by pollution really got in the way.
Tour was amazing, the group were punctual and friendly, explanation was solid and you get to see amazing views of the stargaze and the moon. Operator was friendly and let me took a picture through the telescope. Also a real explanation on how Inca's used the stars in their lifes. Dynamic and fun. A must do if you are touring around Cusco.
Really interesting presentation about incan astronomy, wished it was longer! Then some stargazing through telescopes and a presentation about the constellations. Great they pick you up and drop you off too. All staff great and very friendly.
This was one of (if not THE) best of our experiences within Cusco. I've been to several planetariums (including one here in Washington, DC at the Air and Space Museum), but the staff at the Planetarium Cusco provide an experience like no other. I wish I could recall all names of those I encountered, but I remember Johana providing an informative, entertaining history of the Incas' view of the universe followed by Ana's comical, educational talk within the dome itself. The visit ended with an opportunity to look through multiple telescopes. For the first time, I saw many constellations in the southern hemisphere. An unforgettable experience I'll undoubtedly remember for the rest of my life!
Such a fun experience in Cusco, the staff was amazing! Learned about the southern constellations and got to see them in real life too. Add to your list of interesting things to do in Cusco.
SUCH A INSIGHTFUL AND GREAT EXPERIENCE! IT WAS SUCH A GREAT WAY TO LEARN ABOUT ASTRONOMY AND LEARN ABOUT INCAN CULTURE AND HOW THEY NAVIGATED TIME AND STARS WITH THE STARS AND PLANETS ! THE TORU GUIDES WERE MAD FUNNY AND VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE. THEY ARE GENUINE ASTRONOMY LOVERS AND THEY RUN THIS BUSINESS SOLELY BY THEN W/O GOVT AID UNLIKE MUCH PLANETARIUMS ! I SAY HELP SPREAD AND HELP THEIR LOCAL CUSCENIAN BUSINESS AND LOVE FOR ASTRONOMY!
When a great vantage point, an archeoastronomy knowledgeable and fun Presenter, great Meade telescopes, friendly support staff and a clear Cusco sky align, it all translates into a fun learning evening for all ages. Definitely a wonderful complement to a day visiting local Cusco attractions. I cant think of another place that offers a tour of the night skies that explains the way the Incas and the preceding cultures, in this case, used the stars to inform their agricultural cycles or determine location and orientation of buildings. Planetarium Cusco provides transportation from/to downtown Cusco (15 minute ride to Llaullipata) a fun introduction to the night skies in their dome theater, a slide presentation, and access to their telescopes outdoors (blankets included). A great two and half hour learning experience with Ana Maria Milla, highly recommended.
Great experience and amazing team. You learn a lot about the stars and how the Inca used them to help with agriculture. Presentations and information given was great. We had a very cloudy night but the team did everything possible to call us out every time there was a clear view and we still got to see a lot of stars. Recommend it to everyone we met.
The experience was mediocre at best, and we would hesitate to recommend the planetarium to others. We were looking forward to the tour with the payment made and booking confirmation. Surprisingly, we received multiple calls and messages on WhatsApp an hour before the event, requesting us to confirm our booking again. Since we did not have internet access at that time, we were unable to respond until 15 minutes prior to the event. We were then informed that we could receive a refund as we had not confirmed our attendance earlier. Despite this confusion, we continued to the meeting point and were eventually allowed to join the tour. However, the situation created unnecessary stress and a poor start. The quality of the tour itself was underwhelming. While it was interesting to observe the constellations, the presentation felt superficial. The poor weather conditions also diminished the experience. We hope this helps so you don’t have the same problems.
Wow, what an amazing surprise the Planetarium was!? The visit was part of an organised tour we were on, & to be honest, I didn’t know what to expect, but gee what a pleasant surprise! From start to finish the entire evening was fantastic, with the staff being extremely helpful, explaining all the stars outside, as well as handing us blankets as it got quite cold! The indoor section of the visit in the domed viewing room was exceptional, with the presenter giving us so much info in a fun & interesting way. Cannot recommend the Cusco Planetarium highly enough, & would tell anyone going to Cusco to put it on their list.
