Afterwards, you'll enjoy a typical Peruvian lunch (included in price) before visiting the fortress of Ollantaytambo and its main attraction, the Temple of the Sun. After finishing your exploration of Ollantaytambo, continue back to your Cusco hotel. Built using massive stones, each one approximately 12 feet (3.5m) tall, this temple was used as a fortress during the time of the Incan civil war.
Travel back in time to the Sacred Valley of the Incas with a day that begins in Pisac. This native town was once where “exchange transactions” took place. In this type of transaction, customers would exchange one good for another instead of using currency. Visit the market of Pisac where you can purchase beautifully crafted products hand-made by the locals. On Sunday, the main attraction is a mass celebrated in Quechua and conducted in Spanish. It is attended by the mayors and their attendants who play traditional musical instruments called "pututos." Extremely interesting site to explore. Close to Machu Picchu and well worth the visit.
Very exciting and knowledgeable about Inca’s culture, passage is top beauty , service train also espectacular
The tour guide (Adriel) is so knowledgeable and friendly. We loved every moment of it. From the driving to the actual tour. It was magical!
This tour takes you to two amazing Inca sites! It also takes you to two areas to learn of the culture and way of life of the people who live here. It is a well rounded and well organized tour with an incredible buffet lunch in a beautiful location! Our guide, Carla, kept us well informed and on schedule. I would book this tour again.
Our guide was awesome and the places we visited were incredible! The last stop was Pisac, where we met some local jewelers and had time to explore the market. Definitely recommend it!
To be honest, this trip was prearranged and I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was incredible! Pickup from out hotel was right on time, took a smaller van thru the city to pick up other guests and then we moved to a full size bus where we met our tour guide, Rony. They provided a guide each for English and Spanish speakers. While it is a lot of driving, we made 4 stops that were each so different, beautiful and helped us learn much more about the Inkas than I would have gotten if I only went to Machu Picchu. Pisaq and Ollantaytambo were equally as stunning, lunch was in a beautiful spot by the river, many options for dietary restrictions or choices. The market was great to shop and it felt nice to be supporting a small community rather than in the city. Finally, the stop in Chinchero was very near to learn about the many traditions passed down and used in craft making. It was a long day but Rony is an experienced tour guide and made the day both educational and fun. Highly recommend and if possible, before you go to Machu Picchu to help you appreciate and learn about the valley and the Incan Trail.
Your guide was great, sites were great! With this one be careful to find out what’s included prior because even though it was stated that entrance fees were included we had to pay again at the sites .
This was a fun tour through the Sacred Valley. First stop is Pisac where you meet with local jewelers and have time to wander through the market. Then we had lunch in a fabulous location along the river with a great buffet of food. Then we went to Ollantaytambo. I knew we would be seeing the ruins there. I was not prepared for hiking them (but that's my fault for not knowing more about the ruins). It was not a difficult hike; I just wasn't prepared with the best shoes and no hair tie (I have long hair and it was very windy so my hair was in my face the whole time). Our guide was fantastic. He had a lot of knowledge about the area and was very easy to talk to. He made a point to have individual conversations with each party in the group. He helped some of the group shop in the markets. And he was very accommodating of a guest who was not feeling well. My only suggestion would be to reverse the trip and go to Ollantaytambo first as hiking the ruins on a very full stomach was not ideal. This is definitely a fun tour if you want to see and learn about some of the ruins and ancient culture but also want to spend time in the markets as there were markets in both Pisac and Ollantaytambo.
We end up having a private tour for my family, it was wonderful. Our tour guide was able to tell us a lot about the area, along with answering questions that we had about the area and the ruins. Very friendly. We had wonderful Driver. We even, got back ahead of schedule since we were the only ones in the tour.
He say was very well organized. We had plenty of time for each activity and Adriel kept the team on time to be able to meet all the places in the itinerary. He gave us a great overview of Inca history and the historical context of what we were looking at. He brought local fruits for us to try which were delicious.
Really incredible tour of the sacred valley! Perfect if you would like to go at a little slower pace with a smaller group and really get a chance to experience the history of the sacred valley! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and even took us to a few little-know spots within the valley so we could get away from the crowds! Cannot recommend enough.
The tour was wonderful, our tour guide, Alex, was great, kind, and knowledge about the ruins! Personally the climb up Ollantaytambo was intense but probably cause I am out of shape, once up there the views were gorgeous and worth the mild heart attack! I was with my husband and 7 year old son, and he definitely enjoyed the views. The Alpaca farm was cool and the products are great but it’s definitely meant so you can buy the well made baby alpaca products. I think the prices were great for the garments we got. I kinda of wish we could have spent more time with the native woman that dyes the materials, but that was cut short so they could show us the garments. The Pisac market was big and there were so many things to buy. Alex was also great at telling us about being aware of fakes or low quality products in the markets, the importance or bartering and haggling for the products of up to 30-40 %, which was nice to know! The lunch was good as well. The views were definitely breathtaking when we made our stop. The return to Cuzco after the tour was great since we took a different path than when we started. Let me also give a shoutout to our driver on thr tour!
Olllataytambo was magnificent, the sun temple was the biggest highlight. Also very much enjoyed the alpaca/yarn tour and shopping in Pisac. However our opinion is that lunch should not be last on the schedule—we didn’t get to lunch until 3. Perhaps eat before entering the ruins.
Adriel was the BEST tour guide! He was passionate, energetic, informative and had many personal stories to share. I learned so much on this tour and highly enjoyed our short walks at Pisaq and Ollantaytambo. There was ample time for shopping, but it also didn’t stretch on for too long if you weren’t interested. I highly recommend this full day tour.
This tour was very informative and punctual. The lunch buffet was wonderful, and all the sites were incredible to see. If you are looking for an easy way to see several locations around Cusco with one easy tour, I recommend!
Luis was a fantastic tour guide and he had a great driver. I was the only English speaking participant but Luis gave me just as much attention as he did to his Spanish speaking tourists. We were given plenty of exploration time at each stop. And Luis provided in depth explanation of history. Felt I really learned a lot from him. Lunch was a buffet that had a great selection. The pork belly was very good. Didn’t care for the stop at the alpaca site. It was a little touristy and it was an attempt to get us to buy stuff. When in Pisaq, I didn’t care for the jewelry store demo. And I recommend when given free time to explore the town of Pisaq, skip the market and head up to the mountain for a hike in the ridges. You have to pay s/10 to enter. Luis was very accommodating when we were delayed getting home by a parade in one of the villages and I couldn’t wait until we returned to Cusco to use the bathroom. Don’t forget to bring your own supply of tissue and hand sanitizer. Bring snacks and bottled water. You can leave things in the van. I recommend on booking any tours that has Luis as the guide. He makes it the best experience.
Abton was a great guide, provided a lot of great information. Pisac and Ollantaytambo were fabulous. We had a private guided tour and it was well worth the price.
Once again, after a great Machu Picchu trip, Viator did an amazing job with this tour too. My special compliments and appreciation for our tour guide Julio Eacalante. He is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and very kind. He made sure all the people in our group were together and never left behind. He went out of the way to make this trip wonderful for us. All the sites covered in this trip were great. The restaurant where we stopped for lunch was also very beautiful with great food. Overall, this was a great trip. After 2 days of this tour, I ran into Julio again in the Cusco Cathedral where he was leading a city tour. I felt like I was meeting an old friend again.
This was a very well-rounded and well-paced tour! Pisac and Ollantaytanbo were stunning, and Aldo provided us with plenty of interesting useful information. The included buffet was also delicious and featured a range of Peruvian food that I hadn't been able to try yet. I would also recommend staying on to visit Chinchero if you have the option, it was fascinating and enlightening to see the work that goes into putting together gorgeous alpaca wool products.
The Sacred Valley is quite beautiful. The lunch stop was excellent. The place was very clean, the buffet was plentiful and the grounds were very pretty.
The scenery heading into the Sacred Valley is fantastic. The Market was amazing and Pisac is a lovely little town. The Inka historic site of Ollantaytambo was fascinating and we had the most delicious lunch in a beautiful restaurant in beautiful gardens. However the best part of the tour was our guide Frank and our trusty driver Jordan. Frank was very knowledgeable, his English is excellent and we learned so much about all spots we saw along the way, the culture, the agriculture of the area, the history and the way of life of the people in these towns. The views are this tour are spectacular. We were the only people on the tour so we were very well cared for! Highly recommend this tour!
The sites were incredible and a must see. The tour guide was terrible. She was so incredibly rude! If this had been my first Viator tour, it most certainly would have been my last. Also, the bus driver showed up 45 minutes early! We had just ordered our breakfast and didn’t get to eat because he was there so early.
The tour guide was very funny. The views on this trip are exceptional even though there is a lot of driving time. We had a small hike at the end that was too much for our group and not expected from the tour description. Those who went on the hike enjoyed it but the others were left waiting.
Tour guide was amazing. Very informative. Totally recommend. Spoke very good English which all 7 of our group needed. This is an inexpensive tour and very well worth the money.
Learning about the area and Inca history was very interesting. I enjoyed the pace of the tour which allowed for shopping, sightseeing, sampling food, and learning about the local culture. The views were beautiful and I liked visiting different towns. Definitely recommend for all.
the views and history was amazing. the guide Julio is probably the best I have known, very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and considerate. his english is excellent. in nutshell a great tour well organized and highly recommend.
Travel in a comfortable bus, excellent guide very knowledgeable an funny. Love every minute of this tour. Lunch place was gorgeous. I have no regrets!! Love it!
I enjoy every part of the trip, Guillermo the tour guide is very knowledgeable, the van el was very clean and an important detail is that the seatbelts are in great conditions. Thank you Guido and Guillermo for an amazing trip.
This tour is simply amazing. Adriel is a great guide, very communicative and knows a lot of the history of the places. The sights are truly beautiful.
Had a great day out from start to finish. We was picked up from our hotel visited pisac then went for a fantastic lunch before heading to ollantaytambo and then dropped back off at our hotel exhausted
My guide Angel was very professional and friend. Being an anthropologies also helped answering a lot of untypical questions from the customer. the operator is quite flexible to accommodate individual's reqeust esp this is a private tour.
Very well managed to her that took us to many interesting places. The guide was very knowledgeable and the lunch was delicious. Would definitely recommend.
What a lovely day experience. Seeing Inca history, the Markets etc. Everything went smoothly and the tour guide was amazing - Adriel.
5 It was an amazing experience ! The guide Guillermo very nice person and with good knowledge. The lunch was the best! Buffet, delicious Peruvian dishes, great restaurant. Pisaq and Ollantaytambo Ruins were fantastic! Pure culture in Cusco!
First stop was a roadside preserve for llamas and alpacas with locals demonstrating traditional methods for creating articles of clothing from same. This was worthwhile and we enjoyed it. Next stop was a shopping opportunity in Pisac's market area. We're not big shoppers, so this was just OK for us. Our tour of the major Inca ruins at Ollantaytambo was next, and was fabulous. Last stop was for an excellent buffet lunch on our way back to Cusco. We opted for the private version of this tour, which meant a guide (who was very knowledgeable) and a driver for just the two of us. Having spent the entire previous day on airplanes and in airports to get to Cusco, and never having been in South America at all before, the private version of the tour was well worth it for us.
I ca not say enough good things about this tour. Our guide, Manuel was amazing. He shared so much good information and we learned so much about the culture. Everyone visiting Cusco should take this tour!!!
Was a great trip!! It is a full day of activity, so be prepared for that, but worth it. Shopping at the market was neat
First, our guide (Giamo/William) was excellent. Second, a very long day (12 hours) so be ready for seeing and doing many things! Walking a must. Climbing is significant so be in shape. Highly recommend as you will experience much and learn a great deal about the Incas.
This was a great introduction to the Incan culture! We did this as our first tour upon arriving. Our guide was great, we stopped at a great place for lunch and a couple other small spots to support local businesses. The views and history were amazing to learn about. Highly recommend!
The trips was really awesome, you didn’t have to pay anything more (not like other trips that you pay entrance tickets…) take cash, This is where I got most of my souvenirs for a good price.
The tour guide was anazing, and the provided lunch was top notch. Great experience. All sites were explained in great detail.
My guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, she also helped me with my Spanish. I like that it took most of the day but I had a few hours in Cusco after the tour.
Our tour guide Alan is a native from Ollantayambo and he really went the extra mile with our party. I would recommend this tour.
Really wonderful day. Great tour guide, informative but also gave us some free time to wander a bit at the sites and in the market. Good way to see multiple sites in a day.
We had a 7 hours (not 10) trip to the sacred valley from Cusco and back. We visited the stunning Temple of Ollantaytambo, made a short stop in Pisac and had a great lunch with a buffet. It seems due to corona everything else, promised in the description, is not possible anymore. Would have been fair to read about that before. But still it was worth.
Me and my partner had lots of fun on this trip. We had great food, great views, and a great guide. He was super helpful and even gave us some great recommendations on what to do on our last two days in the area. This was one of the best experiences I've had.
Excelente experience, they were on time to pick me up on my Airbnb, that was fantastic! Transportation was amazingly clean with all the safety measures for a sanitized area, they provided hand sanitizer at all times. My tour guy, Abdon Alejo was very knowledgeable and learned a lot from all the areas we visited, he was friendly and respectful at all times. As traveling by my self that was very important to me. The restaurant we visited at lunch time was amazing with a great service. I will recomend this experience 100%
Very helpfull Guide with plenty of adverture. The Moray it is amazing place and even in the rainy season we have luck with the wheather
This was the BEST use of our time and money in Cusco! Sylvia was our tour guide, and she was absolutely the most amazing tour guide in existence. She knew everything, and was able to share so much with us in such an engaging way. There was enough flexibility that we could ask her our own questions, but mostly her skill was that she knew what we would be interested in learning about and shared it before we asked. Sylvia also had connections at multiple markets and was able to guide us as we shopped. She was such a trooper, even when it rained at Ollantaytambo. This tour is simply the best! They picked us up right from our hotel (they even sent someone 15-20 minutes early just to make sure we made it), the restaurant they selected for lunch was perfect, the bus was more than comfortable (much much better than the city tour busses and even Inca Rail busses), the time they provide at each location is just enough, but not too much. They have really truly figured out a perfect tour. I particularly loved how Sylvia was in charge, and as we returned to Cusco she let us choose how to use our time and gave us great options. The wool dying place with the little cui (guinea pigs) was the perfect way to end our day. I can't thank Sylvia and this tour line enough for the amazing experience we had, especially for such an affordable rate. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! P.S. If you are going to go on this tour and intend on doing more sightseeing in Cusco I would strongly recommend buying the 10-day Integral Tourist Ticket or Boleto Tourístico del Cusco. Right now they are 130 soles, or just under $40 USD and totally worth it. Buy it before you go on the tour and save some time you could be exploring! P.P.S. We did Machu Picchu two days *before* this tour and wish we would have done this tour, had them drop us off at Ollantaytambo and stayed the night and *then* gone to Machu Picchu the next morning. It would have been easy to find our own way back to Cusco. It would have been cost-effective for a hotel just to avoid going back-and-forth between Cusco and Ollantaytambo multiple times and paying each way.
