Stops on the tour were all nice but unfortunately as an english-only speaker I had an objectively lesser tour experience given that the guide spoke first in longwinded Spanish before repeating the same in English to the point where I initially thought I was on the wrong tour. As a result the Spanish speakers were “dismissed” to free roam a particular tour site while the English speakers had to wait to hear the same information eating into the allotted time at a particular site. This is nothing personal to the tour guide and it’s even understandable given that the majority of those attending the tour were Spanish speaking but I wish I had known this beforehand so I could book something else. Also we were told to meet at 0820 and be back by 1400 and instead left at 0845 and returned at 1500

Itinerary
The tour begins with a meeting point at Plaza Regocijo in Cusco, next to the main fountain in the square, where our team will be waiting for passengers between 7:45 and 8:00 a.m. After meeting the group, your guide will give a brief introduction to the tour and share some information about the places you will visit throughout the day. Each passenger will also receive an individual snack kit. We will then set off towards the Sacred Valley of the Incas, taking in the stunning Andean landscapes, agricultural fields, and mountains that define this remarkable region.
Our second stop will be at a traditional textile center in Chinchero, where you will learn more about the ancestral techniques of Andean weaving. During the visit, you will be introduced to alpaca fibers, natural dyeing techniques, and traditional methods used by local communities to produce their textiles. You will also discover how these traditional skills and techniques have been preserved and passed down through generations, while having the opportunity to observe the region’s distinctive textiles and craftsmanship up close.
We will continue our journey through the breathtaking Sacred Valley of the Incas, taking in the mountains, agricultural fields, and Andean communities that form part of the region’s distinctive landscape. Along the way, your guide will explain the importance of the Sacred Valley to Inca culture, as well as the geographical characteristics that made the area particularly suitable for agricultural development.
Our next visit will be to the Moray Archaeological Site, an ancient Inca agricultural complex featuring remarkable circular terraces built at different levels. The arrangement of these structures created variations in temperature and humidity, which has contributed to theories regarding their possible use for agricultural experimentation. During the visit, your guide will explain how the Incas made use of the terrain, changes in elevation, and microclimatic conditions to develop knowledge related to cultivation and the adaptation of different plant species.
After visiting Moray, we will continue to the village of Maras, a small Andean settlement that preserves elements of both its Inca heritage and colonial past. During the visit, we will walk through its streets and learn more about its history, architecture, and traditions, while your guide shares insights into the local community and Maras’s significance throughout different historical periods.
We will then visit the impressive Maras Salt Mines, home to more than 3,000 small salt evaporation ponds spread across the mountain slopes. Salt is produced from a natural saltwater spring, which is channelled through a network of canals into the ponds. As the water evaporates under the sun, salt crystals are left behind and subsequently collected. This activity is still carried out by local communities and preserves traditional techniques that date back to pre-Inca times. During the visit, your guide will explain how the process works and its importance to the families of the region.
After completing our visit to the Maras Salt Mines, we will begin our return journey towards Cusco. Along the way, we will once again pass through the Chinchero area, taking in the rural landscapes of the Sacred Valley, agricultural fields, and mountains that line the road. This route offers an opportunity to appreciate a different perspective of the Andean landscape as we make our way back to the city.
After completing our visit to the textile center, we will begin the journey back to Cusco. Throughout the drive, we will continue to enjoy the Andean scenery, with its mountains, agricultural fields, and traditional communities. Upon arrival in the city, drop-off will be at Cusco’s Plaza de Armas, a convenient location from which you can continue exploring the historic center, discover its surroundings, and enjoy some free time to have lunch at your own expense before continuing with your activities.

It was a group of 9. The small bus ( bigger than tour van) was very comfortable. We were picked up at our hotel at 8:40am and dropped off at approximately. 2:45pm. Both locations required some walking up and down the stone steps. So wearing hiking shoes is ideal. We received our bagged lunch at the end of trip. There were 2 stops for bathroom/ souvenir shops, however, no pushy sales.
Jerver did an amazing job! We had a mixed language group and he did a wonderful job of explaining everything in both languages. He was incredibly knowledgeable and did an excellent job explaining things and had additional photos to share at times as well.
Good tour, Jerver did a great job explaining the sites we visited Moray and Maras Salt Mines.
Great option for Maras, Moras and the Salineiras. Jerver was amazing .
I was impressed with our guide Jerver he was very knowledgeable about the inka culture and the sites we visited. We were so lucky to have during our tour. We have to return to Peru 🇦🇹
Jerver's guide, explanation and service was exceptional! Great experience going to the salineras, Moray and Chinchero's textile tour also amazing. Completely recommend booking with them!
Jerver was an excellent guide! Moray and the Salt Mines in Maras are impressive on their own, but the information and insights by Jerver made it even better. We were a small group of 6 people, so everybody had time to ask questions.
Best expirence in a while! I’m with my girlfriend and her parents and it has been incredible the views, the history and the guide Fred told us very interesting stories of each place.
Starting with the positives. Both Moray and the salt mines were well worth the trip. The guide was good and described the sites in detail including history. Now for the bad parts. 1) commutation was horrible before the tour. I was at Machu Picchu and received the details for the trip which was around 4:30 pm. Included in the details was a threatening message the basically said you had to bring a tourist ticket and without it you cannot see the sites. I informed them I didn’t have one and thought I would need to cancel. So I basically thought i wasn’t going since I had no idea what a tourist ticket was and how to get one. 4 hours later I was then told it would be possible to purchase one at the Site. It would have been much better if this information was included in the description of the tour. It is not. It just says the entry to Moray is not included. 2) the tourist ticket costs 70 soles. Which is about $21. So add that to the cost of the tour as you compare companies. AND they only take cash. So I needed to find an open ATM when I returned from Machu Picchu at 10 pm 3) pickup was disorganized. The day before they said pickup is between 7:30 and 8. 30 minutes is a long time especially in the morning when you are trying to arrange breakfast. Finally I was told pickup would be at 8:10. My hotel pickup was some random guy who met me at the hotel. We had to walk about 5 minutes to meet the van which took about 10 minutes to arrive. We drove around in circles to pick up the other guests and didn’t leave Cusco until around 9:20. There were random guys hopping on and off the bus and you had no idea who the actual guide was until we left Cusco. Zero communication during pickup. 4) instead of a very disorganized pickup there should have been 1 or 2 pickup spots in town. This would have shaved an hour off the total time of this tour. 5) finally there were 2 unnecessary stops. One at a weaving place and one with a salt tasting. Both were okay but added another hour plus to the tour. This tour could have been cut by at least an hour if they were better organized. I would not recommend. The sites were good but everything else spoiled it for me
This was a great way to visit and learn about some very interesting sites around the Cusco area. Public transportation is not readily available to reach these outlying areas so a day tour like this was the perfect way to see them. All the places we visited were very interesting. The only reason I did not give this 5 stars were around some of the logistical details. We were not staying in a central hotel and the shuttle pickup caused a lot of confusion. The driver did not pick us up and we were put on another tour - which was fine except we took the last seats on an already cramped and stuffy bus. We weren't really prepared for the hiking/stair climbing that was involved and would have appreciated seeing that be described a bit more when researching. I would certainly recommend this tour, but would caution anyone with mobility or breathing issues to be aware.
Good communication, timely pickup, friendly guide and great tour. The guide Jerver (Gerry for us Aussies) was knowledgeable and took us to some great places. He adjusted the tour on the run to meet our needs. The driver Herman did a marvellous job keeping us safe on the roads. Highly recommended.
Jerver was very knowledgeable. Everything ran on time. The salt mines are worth going too. Make sure you leave room in your luggage to bring some salt home
Clara, our guide, was excellent – very friendly, knowledgeable, and made the tour enjoyable. The visits to Moray and the salt mines were fascinating and definitely the highlights of the trip. Unfortunately, the last stop at the craft market was less enjoyable. The visit felt too long and there was uncomfortable pressure to buy alpaca wool goods we weren’t interested in. We were also disappointed that lunch, which was listed as included, was not provided. On a six-hour trip, this left us very hungry and felt like a letdown given it was advertised. Overall, Clara was fantastic, but the missing lunch and unnecessary craft market stop took away from an otherwise great experience.
Julio and Franco were amazing! Franco can speak so many languages and is very talented and funny. 😁 We did the day trip to Maras, Salt Mines, and Moray and got a chance to learn more about the artisanal and agricultural history/roots of the Inkan. My favorite part was seeing the lady pick up an insect from an aloe-like plant and squeezed it to make red dye for the alpaca fabrics.
Well organized and the tour was as described. Guide was very knowledgeable and personable. Minibus was comfortable and a bag lunch was provided. Great 6 hour day trip, back around 2:30
we had a wonderful time visit the Moray salt mines and all the stops along the way. Our tour guide Franco was so knowledgeable and helpful and the driver Freddy was great!! Definitely recommended!
Tour Experience: The tour was good! It was well-paced and we did not feel rushed. The duration was just right—long enough to explore but not too long to become exhausting. Highlight of the trip was the Mara’s tour, they provided samples for their chocolate! Guide/Instructor: Our guide, Jerver and driver Ernah was phenomenal. They had a deep knowledge of the area. They were friendly, answered all our questions, and shared unique insights. Comfort and Convenience: The transportation was comfortable—our van was clean, air-conditioned, and had plenty of space. The stops were well-planned, and there were plenty of opportunities for bathroom breaks. Group Size: The group size was perfect—around 6-8 people. It wasn’t too large, so we all had a chance to interact with the guide and ask questions.
We really enjoyed our tour with Franklin and Freddy. They were punctual, professional with lots of knowledge about the places.
Nice sites. The salt mines were incredible. But I felt the guide wasn’t all that enthusiastic about being there. At the end of the trip we were taken to an Alpaca “farm” where they showed us how they make alpaca fiber clothes and covers. I bought a sweater but come to learn it’s poorly made and possibly not real Alpaca fiber. I don’t feel Trip Advisor should take tourists to places that aren’t reputable.
It was an easy day to sit on bus and scenery was magnificent. Your guide explained enough about each stop to be interesting without constant chatter
Great experience with knowledgeable tour guides that are enthusiastic. Mihai was a great guide that explained everything well!
Wonderful experience. Well conducted tour. I really appreciated the time were allowed at each spot. The history is fascinating. But I would avoid buying anything at the shop we stopped at. I thought I bought a handmade wool sweater and handmade cotton table runner. What do I know about fibers. A friend told me the sweater was machine made acrylic. I felt taken for a fool. And that disappoints me very much. I paid a lot for just two items ($133) only to find I was duped.
The organisation of this company is shockingly bad, I would advise to stay clear. They did not puck me up at the agreed time time then they wanted me to pay for a taxi they managed to re route a bus that picked us up 1 hour later completely ruined the trip before we got started
Out tour guide named sole is the best. And the tour times its not so long good for families with small kids…. Thank you so much soledad
We booked an English tour but were the only English speaking people on the tour, the tour guide was unaware she had English speakers and spoke Spanish until we told her otherwise. After this she accommodated us by repeating Spanish explanations in English during the tour. The tour was very interesting and covered lots of areas in a short space of time, apart from the language mishap it was very enjoyable and the tour guide was very engaging. The tour company should not advertise this as a non-bilingual tour when it very much was.
The tour itself was not bad, but there was some issues. First issue was the language, I booked the English tour, the guide started taking in Spanish, but 4 out of the 7 people in the group did not speak Spanish, when I raised this issue the guide switched to English, but made some rude joke about it. Second issue was that after we started the tour the guide told me that because I had booked the tour in the evening if the previous day, they didn't have lunch for me and my girlfriend. I understand that this can happen, but we chatted the night before to discuss the pickup time, they could have told me, so I'd bring something on my own. When I raise this as being an issue, he said we were going to make a stop and I could buy food there, but it was a place that had only chocolate and salt to sell, so not much options for lunch. The third issue was that the tour was very rushed, we visited 2 shops in the way and the shop visits were longer than the Moray visit, we had maybe only 15-20 min there and could not even walk the place and explore it.
We have an enjoyable and educational trip. We took lots of beautiful pictures. Our guide Soledad is excellent. Thank you!
Time spent at the handicraft center was a little too long. Thus not much time was left for the city tour. Overall still quite an interesting tour.
Soles is absolutely entertaining and knowledgeable. She is patient, caring and professional. Really makes us feel so good and comfortable in Peru. I sure hope that she can me our one and only tour guide. Well done !
Today we visited many interesting places such as the Saltmines, Moray. We had the chance to buy handmade products from the locals. The trip included a prepared snack for us as well and a fun atmosphere.
I highly recommend Franco's tour, focusing on Moray, Maras salt mines, and Chinchero. Experience the rich Andean tradition, explore ancient agricultural terraces, visit the mesmerizing salt pools, and appreciate exquisite alpaca textiles. Franco offers an immersive journey into the heart of Peruvian culture and heritage.
The guide Jin was very helpful and told several very interesting stories. I highly recommend it!
This experience was very good because of the quality of the guide; we visited Moras, a true laboratory of agricultural terraces of the Inca Empire, to continue the tour through the Maras Salt Mines, where you can see the wells from which salt is obtained, which is medicinal, pink, and fine.
Attentive and very organized team! Very good!
Maras and Moray Tour with Guide Franco and Driver Wilbert Maras and Moraes was mayor. Very attentive.
Sensational!! Everything very well organized and explained with Alberto
Alberto is very attentive and dynamic, I recommend!
Excellent guide. Explain very well.
The trip was very interesting. The guide Jerver explained with patience and answered all the questions. The logistics of picking up tourists at each hotel could be improved by going to Av Del Sol. It's a shame we returned from the trip more than an hour late.
Jerver was an excellent guide, attentive and with a lot of knowledge about Maras and Moray, making the visits pleasant and educational.
Jerver and Júlio, best guides and driver!
Guide Fernando was great, he gave a real class on Inca expertise in agriculture and engineering, besides being humorous and lively!
Fernando is very nice and polite
The whole trip was very fun and interesting!! The guide David explained everything to us with many details!! It was worth it!!
Very good experience, with very detailed explanations from guide Davi.
Wonderful experience with guide Jerver and driver Fred!
The experience was great! Jerver was excellent in his explanations and very nice. I highly recommend it.
