Itinerary
At 3.55am hotel pick-ups will commence, so be up early and ready to go! You’ll be driven to the train station in Ollantaytambo, where you’ll catch the 6.40am train, arriving into Aguas Calientes at around 8.00am. On arrival, your guide will meet you at the train station in Aguas Calientes to take you to the bus, up to Machu Picchu. The bus ride is about 30 minutes. You should arrive to Machu Picchu at around 8.45am, and enter the site. During a tour through this magnificent place, your bilingual guide will explain all about the historic site of Machu Picchu, and you’ll visit all the major places within the lost city. The guided tour will take around 2.5 to 3 hours. Afterwards, you'll have free time to wander around and admire this awe-inspiring place on your own. It’s possible to exit the site to eat a snack at the café, and then re-enter. Your ticket is valid for the entire day. Optional: You can climb the mountain of Huayna Picchu (tickets need to be bought at the time of your Machu Picchu purchase), which is a 1.5 to 2-hour roundtrip. This trip is without a guide. The entrance time is 10.00-11.00am, so if you choose to take this tour, your guided tour will be quicker in order to finish in time to enter Huayna Picchu. After, you’ll descend to Aguas Calientes, the town named for its hot springs. You can get there by bus: it’s a 30-minute trip, and buses leave every 5 minutes. Then you’ll return by train to Cusco. You can choose the 4.12pm train to return directly to Cusco, or the 7.00pm train to return to Ollantaytambo - the train ride is about 1 hour and 40 minutes. A mini-bus will be waiting in Ollantaytambo to take you to Cusco (approx. 90 min).

Heidi did an excellent job coordinating our last minute plan to Machu Picchu. She picked us from the train station and sent us our way to Machu Picchu with clear instructions and accommodations . She couldn’t buy entrance tickets due to local protesting but her tour guide was able to help us get tickets. Ronals (aka Ronaldo) was our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable of the Machu Picchu history! Also, he was a great professional photographer (for free!) Follow his Instagram @samanezronal NO worries or stress with Heidi! She has everything figured out!
The experience was one of a kind! We were up at Machu Pichu before Sunrise, when the sun came up it was a one in a life time experience.
Everything was planned as they mentioned and amazing as they described it. The whole experience I had transportation and guidance when needed. They were always waiting ahead in each point of the experience. I didn’t feel lost.
As soon as we contacted Heidi, she carefully planned our three day Cusco trip. She’s a pro and knew exactly what we were looking for. A half day city tour where we toured the historic city of Cusco and it’s nearby archeological sites. A trip through the Sacred Valley where we made various stops through its picturesque towns and ancient sites. And an overnight stay in Ollantaytambo before departing via train the next morning for our visit to the incredible archeological site of Machu Picchu. The perfect hotels and wonderful tour guides made it a trip to remember. After a difficult year for all of us, Heidi made us feel welcomed to Cusco and the region and made sure our trip was safe and organized. Though some restrictions are still in place because of the ongoing pandemic, all of the trip is outdoors and did not interfere with our stay. We couldn’t have asked for a better trip and we highly recommend Heidi Tours to all those interested. ¡Muchísimas gracias, Heidi!
EXCELLENT!!!!!!! I honestly cant describe the experience i had but its definitely one i will remember forever. Heidi travel assisted me throughout my stay in Peru and went above and beyond to accommodate me when my previous tour agency canceled. Amazing hospitality, welcoming energy and knowledgeable guides..everything you van ask for within a tour agency. Thank you HEIDI I will for sure see you and Peru again soon.
Fantastic tour, well guided trip and extremely friendly and organised team of locals with immensive knowledge about the culture and life of incas. I can totally reccomend them
My wife and I visited Machu Picchu and Rainbow mountain through Heidy in Nov 2019. She and her team helped us by giving us timely updates and clear understanding of the overall process. We also appreciated their kindness in staying up late and guiding us safely to our hotel in Cusco even though we returned late from Ollantaytambo. We’d definitely recommend Heidy tours for your Cusco based day trips to Machu Picchu and Rajnbow mountain.
It was an excellent toir. Everything went very smoothly. Would definitely recommend Hiedi Tours for the Machu Picchu Day trip.
We were glad that Heidi personally met us at the Hotel and arranged everything per the Tour details.Only regret was the hotel she provided was not up to our expectation, otherwise everything was excellent.I certainly recommend Heidi Tours for Good Service and Reasonable Price.
In short, would I book with this company again? The answer is NO! This group was beyond disorganized. We were getting different answers at different times. We were not informed on what or where our transportation would be and we had to keep asking to verify. Our tour guide did not know where to find us. We waited in long lines and was not able to find the group. We were told we'd get hotel drop off and pick up but that was not the case. We got on our a bus and it dropped us off at some random location at Cusco at 2;30am. We then had to look around for a taxi. That is NOT how you want to spend your first time in a new country! Never would I book with this group again.
I only had a great experience and service through Heidi. She was in touch with me very soon after I booked via WhatsApp to meet up to explain all aspects of the tour and give me the tickets I’d need. I had booked quite last minute so a return train ticket wasn’t available on the same day. Heidi solved this by booking me a night in a hostel free of charge and booking me a train ticket for the morning. She was in touch every now and again to see how I was doing and if everything on the tour was okay. A very nice touch. Obvs MP was excellent too! Go to MP and book with Heidi : )
This was a quick trip to Peru so I just wanted to see prime attractions in short time. Heidi travels is nice and reliable. They were flexible. The trip was very comfortable
We found out that getting to Machu Picchu from Cusco is mostly is a nerve wracking trip. I visited Heidi Travels and settled for this day trip. Heidi, the owner was extremely accomodating. The night before the trip she confirmed the pickup time and also she made a call to the hotel where we were staying at. he guide was nice too, he handed us an envelope with all tickets in it. In Aguas Calientes one of their representatives met us and escorted us all the way up to the main entrance of Machu Picchu. Every thing went smooth. The way back to Cusco was easy and we made it back to the hotel at around 09:00 PM.Worth the money, I am glad we booked with Heidi Travel.
Try to find a taxi to get to the station and to come back you will save at least 3 hours because in the morning the bus goes around the hotels and the same for the return
Courteous people but precarious structure. Breathtaking landscapes along the way. Long distance but worth seeing. I highly recommend it.
First the agency explained how the tour is and I really liked everything was perfect. The guide always accompanied us and explained everything from going by train to reach the great Inca citadel..., I was happy to go by train, it was comfortable and you can appreciate beautiful landscapes before you reach MACHUPICCHU, when you arrive you go by bus to the INCA citadel or you can go on foot but "I recommend going by bus" that is up to you, we arrive to the INCA citadel and you are surprised by its beautiful details, is to reach a stone city with a lot of history, a lot of culture.
Going by train was a good experience, from the beginning you see beautiful landscapes, arriving at MACHUPICCHU and appreciate its beauty with your own eyes and realize that it is impressive the whole citadel. The guide who accompanied us was quite nice and friendly very knowledgeable about the Inca city, explained us at all times and answered our questions.
