Dael was an excellent market guide and chef. We all thoroughly enjoyed walking the market, sampling chocolate, cheese and local fruits , learning about produce and selecting items for our cooking class. The studio is about a 10 minute walk from the market and is on the top floor of a courtyard building. We made Pisco Sours from passion fruit juice and hibiscus syrup, which we sipped as we prepared ceviche , soup , stuffed peppers , individual cheese and potato pies and dessert gnocchi. We ate together at a big table course by course. Totally recommend!

Fun experience starting with the local market visit and introduction to local fruits vegetables meats and cheeses. The kitchen is well planned for teaching and entertaining, very beautifully designed. The cooking class starts with 3 kinds of ceviche Recipes taught. The chef was very friendly and taught us with good cooking techniques which helped us learn the recipes easily. Other recipes include soup, entrees and desert recipes. All the recipes were explained hands on and my husband and I enjoyed cooking with our chef. We also made the traditional Pisco sour drink and were served chicho morada and wine!
We (a party of two couples) met Mauricio at the market and he took us around the various food stalls and explained all the unusual fruit and vegetables. Then we walked to the cookery studio which was very attractive and clean. We were all given aprons and then we made a Pisco sour cocktail followed by a three course meal which we helped prepare and cook. And of course we got to eat it!! The whole experience was 4 hrs long and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Would highly recommend this session as a way to experience true Peruvian gastronomy. Loved it!
Dael did an excellent job teaching our group about the Peruvian dishes we were making. Dael was professional and engaging! He did a great job ensuring everyone in the group was included and had fun😊
Come very hungry, so much amazing food to eat. Our group loved everything about the class, the market, the drinks we made, appetizers, main course to the dessert. We would love to get the recipes for everything, please message me so I can give you my information.
Our first cooking class experience will surely be impossible to top in the future! The experience of exploring the market first together with our chef Dael to purchase the food we would later cook/eat was so special. The studio was clean, bright, and comfortable. Dael was a knowledgeable and patient teacher and the menu items were delicious. If you are overwhelmed by the number of cooking class options in Cusco and unsure how to decide which to book, look no further, this is the one!!

What an amazing experience. A personalized market experience with a personalized lunch. Everything was fabulous.
Amazing experience, highly recommended! It was so nice to meet you Dael, I learned a lot and can’t wait to cook all this delicious dishes at home. Thank you very much for this wonderful time.
We had a wonderful time with the market walk around. The cooking class was so much fun and we learned so much about the culture of the food and the environment of Peru. Take this class!
I had really wanted to take this tour, while my partner wasn’t so sure at first. Even so, he decided to come along, and we’re both so glad he did! It completely exceeded his expectations, as well as mine. Dael, our chef, was an amazing guide at San Pedro Market, sharing so much knowledge and making the visit fun and engaging. The cooking class itself was also fantastic, and he made the whole experience enjoyable from start to finish. We truly loved every moment of it and would absolutely do it again the next time we visit Cusco. Highly recommended!
After Dael picked me up from my hotel, we headed to the local market to buy all the fresh ingredients we needed for the menu from his trusted regular vendors. His calm and friendly personality immediately put me at ease, and any nervousness I had disappeared right away. Once we arrived at the studio, every single step was explained in detail before we got started. We prepared a Passion Fruit Pisco Sour, three different kinds of mango ceviche (omg, there were sooooo delicious), a creamy soup, a delicious gratin, and a phenomenal dessert. I had an amazing time and learned so much throughout the experience. I can't wait to recreate all of these wonderful dishes at home! I’m so glad that I’ve booked that cooking class with Dael…!
We had the best time on our tour and cooking class! Our guide Ale was wonderful. The tour was so fun and the food we made was delicious. Everyone had a great experience from the kids and teenagers to the adults! It was a good value and was the perfect length of time. Highly recommend!
We had a 4-student class with Dael. Started at San Pedro market (facing Santa Clara, between Cascaparo and Ca. Thupaq Amaru), where we went into the market and Dael educated us on the market and local groceries. Sampled a couple of things. Then a bit of a trek to the studio and the class began. It was very well paced and geared for all-comers. We were both doing some of the prepping as well as getting to sit down with food we made and plated to enjoy. Great experience 10/10 would do again and recommend!
Chef Mauricio was incredible - extremely knowledgeable. Great guide, teacher The market tour was very interesting The menu was typical and delicious Heavily recommended
The tour of the market was great. The cooking class was so much fun. And the food was delicious. A great opportunity to meet people, learn about the food and the culture, and enjoy amazing food.
Chef Dael did a great job teaching us about the different produce in San Pedro Market and then showed us how to create amazing dishes using these items. A great way to spend time in Cusco.
Such a fun cooking class! We really enjoyed learning about the local Peruvian foods and getting to cook with them. Our chef Mauricio was very nice and even went out of his way to help us navigate a personal problem. He also paid for a taxi to take us back to the kitchen when it started raining and I didn’t have a coat. The food was all very delicious and the kitchen was very nice and clean!
Excellent tour with an excellent guide. We loved the market tour and really enjoyed the ceveche. The kitchen is cute and clean too!
The chef was extremely talented and patient explaining and teaching. The trip to the market is really insightful and combines culture with exotic foods! The dishes you later make with them are extremely delicious and the desert of fresh fruits with chocolate was the cherry on top to send me home with the biggest smile. I loved it and would book this again next time i visit!
Excellent chef. Personal, friendly and made the experience fun. The quality of Food we created was surprisingly good
Fantastic overall market + cooking class experience and highlight of our Peru travels! Mauricio was an excellent chef and knowledgeable guide. We had a tour of San Pedro Market, from which we had the chance to learn about the culture and history behind the ingredients we were to use in the cooking class. As for the cooking class, the food was delicious and fresh, featuring local ingredients to make ceviches, a multi-component entrée, soup, dessert, and drinks, and could accommodate allergies / dietary restrictions in the group. The cooking class / dining room area was spacious and bright. Would definitely recommend this experience!
This was a highlight of our trip! Right up there with visiting Machu Picchu. Dael was fun and chose a wonderful menu for us. I learned so much! I can’t wait to try some of these amazing recipes at home. From San Pedro market to cooking and eating dessert the class was 3.5 delightful hours.
We had an excellent time learning to cook Peruvian food. It was a great experience we wont forget. Highly suggest booking here.
I attended a class on my own and it was absolutely fabulous! I don't even really like to cook and this has inspired me. Since I don't eat seafood, I made a mango ceviche that was out of this world! I am now revisiting the recipes to prepare for an upcoming dinner I am hosting. I highly recommend.
Everything was great! We spent a short amount of time in the market learning about the foods and picking up the foods we were going to cook. Then we made a very strong and tasty pisco sour. The starter (ceviche) was amazing. Very friendly and knowledgeable guide.
💯 recommend this experience! Chef Gael was amazing! He gave a thorough tour of the market and the cooking & pisco sour lessons he facilitated was so much fun!
Fantastic experience with a very attentive and fun chef Dael! Highly recommend to everyone:)
Dael was a terrific guide and chef. I enjoyed the tour of the market, learning about different fruits and foods. We had such fun cooking in this beautiful kitchen--dishes that I can incorporate into my repertoire. This was a highlight of my time in Cusco.
My friend and I took a cooking class with Cusco Culinary. It was fabulous! Somehow in our two previous days, we had missed the local market. Dael took us there and showed us the many wonders of Peruvian foods. As a US citizen, I thought I had the availability of most foods from around the world. After seeing the market and experiencing cooking with the Peruvian foods, I see that is clearly not true. I appreciated Dael’s information about local culture and food traditions, his patience with my cooking inexperience, and his friendly, warm company. I highly recommend this cooking class to any travelers looking to delve a little deeper into Peruvian foods and wishing to have an enjoyable, delicious meal.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of the Best Cooking Experiences I Have Ever Had This Peruvian ceviche masterclass was everything I hoped it would be and more. From the market to the kitchen to the final sip of a homemade pisco sour, every part of the experience was thoughtfully done and genuinely enjoyable. It began at the local market, where our chef guided us through selecting the freshest fish and finest ingredients. The fish was remarkably fresh — firm, clean, and ocean-bright in a way that immediately told you it belonged in a ceviche. Our chef took the time to explain what to look for when choosing quality fish and why freshness matters so much in a dish where the ingredients speak entirely for themselves. It was an eye-opening and practical lesson that I will carry with me every time I shop for seafood going forward. A wonderful way to start the class and set the tone for everything that followed. The kitchen itself was beautiful — authentic, warm, and inspiring. Exactly the kind of space where great cooking happens, with every tool and ingredient laid out with care and intention. We were welcomed into the kitchen with the very first thing we made — Pisco Sours from scratch. Fresh lime juice, pisco, egg white, and a dash of bitters, shaken and poured to perfection. It was a warm and festive way to be introduced to the class, and sipping a handcrafted cocktail in that beautiful kitchen immediately made everyone feel relaxed, happy, and ready to cook. Our chef was knowledgeable, patient, and clearly passionate about Peruvian culinary tradition. The instruction was clear and engaging, and there was always a fascinating story or cultural insight to accompany each technique. I learned a tremendous amount and never once felt lost or rushed. We began cooking with a wonderful appetizer that set the tone beautifully for the meal ahead — stuffed peppers made with fresh ingredients sourced directly from a local farm. Vibrant, flavorful, and a perfect reflection of the incredible produce available in this region, they were a clear signal of the quality and care that would define every dish that followed. From there we moved into the heart of the class and prepared three ceviches — a Traditional, an Ancestral, and a Superfood — each with its own distinct flavor profile and story. All three were delicious, but the Ancestral Ceviche was a particular highlight, offering a fascinating window into pre-colonial Peruvian cooking that you simply cannot experience anywhere else. After the ceviches, our chef guided us through making a remarkable gnocchi dessert prepared from a local root bulb — an ingredient I had never worked with before and one that speaks to the extraordinary diversity of Peru's native produce. Learning to transform this organic, earthy root into something as delicate and satisfying as gnocchi was one of the most surprising and rewarding moments of the entire class. Light, pillowy, and completely organic like every ingredient we used throughout the day, it was a creative and memorable finale that left everyone at the table thoroughly delighted. If you are looking for a cooking class that is fun, educational, and deeply rooted in authentic Peruvian culinary tradition, this one is hard to beat. Highly recommended. — A grateful and very satisfied traveler
Best cooking experience learning to to prepare and eat the local food with fresh ingredients we bought from the market. A wonderful owner chef who paced the evening perfectly. Absolute must do on your trip.
Was top notch. The kitchen was well designed food we cooked was very yummy. Great value for money A must
The market tour was terrific & very informative. The food was delicious and chef was very personable and delightful!
Chef Mauricio is an amazing host and walked us through the market and helped us make an amazing 3 course meal. Since it was low season in Peru (February), we essentially got a private class!
This was a wonderful experience! My friend and I had a great time cooking Peruvian dishes. Highly recommend.
Our master chef was very competent and educational. We got a nice tour of the local market and in a very cozy and homely place, we learned how to cook Peruvian dishes.
Dael is a warm, friendly human being and a knowledgeable chef who is passionate about cooking with local ingredients. I was the only participant that day but he treated me like I was a friend. The tour if the market was amazing. He took the time to thoroughly explain the ingredients as we stopped at his preferred vendors and picked up ingredients for the meal. At the studio we prepared together a delicious pisco sour with passion fruit then three different kind of trout ceviche. Then a luscious potato soup, a potato and cheese cake, stuffed pepper and salad. The dessert was made of different fruits including a dessert gnocchi and a frozen tar apple granita, prickly pear, passion fruit and spicy chocolate. This was one of the most delicious and memorable meals I’ve ever had. Thank you, Dael!
Great explanation of Peruvian products, both history and usage, by chef Dael in the vibrant central market. Followed by a great time cooking a 3 course meal together. Food was both beautiful and delicious. What a lovely way to spend a morning in Cusco.
This was such an amazing afternoon. First we went to the market where Chef Dael made it very interesting teaching us about all of the different sections. Then we went to the studio and had the most wonderful cooking class. Chef was so kind, patient and informative about all of the different foods. What an awesome guy! The studio is also lovely, very warm and welcoming and the sous chef was great too. Would definitely recommend! We had a fantastic time!
The chef is very willing to prepare a menu that will agree with your needs. He had delicious things prepared for all of us
This was an amazing experience. First of all the market was huge and I loved Igor we got to try samples of certain foods. Going back to take a cooking class was not only fun, but I got to interact with so many people and as well learn recipes that I won’t soon forget. I highly recommend this activity.
I love to take a cooking class when traveling! It’s a great way to gain a deeper appreciation for the food and culture of a country. Class with Mauricio was an absolute treat! He has been teaching cooking in Cusco for 17 years. His experience, knowledge and passion truly shine! We started in the San Pedro market, which was an experience, despite the tourist influence over time. Then to the real business of cooking! We made passion fruit Pisco sours, 3 types of ceviche with fish and also a mango version for those who didn’t want to eat “uncooked “ fish (aka my husband). In all we plated and ate a delicious 4 course meal. We all had a blast, made new friends and learned a ton about Peruvian history and culture. I couldn’t have had a better experience! The real praise? Both my 15 yo daughter AND my husband (the tough critic) loved it!!
Mauricio was awesome, very nice and informative about Peruvian cuisine and a talented chef. Must try while in Cusco for a great meal and interesting market tour
Taking a cooking class with Dael in Cusco was truly one of my favorite travel experiences ever. I happened to be the only participant that day, yet Dael showed up with 100% energy, passion, and generosity— it made the experience feel even more special. We began with a walk through San Pedro Market, where Dael shared the history, culture, and stories behind local ingredients and Peruvian cuisine. His depth of knowledge is incredible, and he has a gift for teaching in a way that’s engaging, approachable, and meaningful. Back at the studio, we prepared absolutely amazing dishes, but what stood out just as much was the human connection. Dael isn’t just an exceptional educator—he’s a genuinely wonderful person to talk with, learn from, and spend time around. This experience is a memory I will cherish for life, and I couldn’t recommend it more highly to anyone visiting Cusco.
Dael was an awesome chef and provided great knowledge on the cuisine and gastronomy of Cusco. I was the only one that attended the session so it felt very intimate which I appreciated. We had great conversations about his passion of cooking and the service industry lifestyle. I also learned alot about different ways to cut and prepare typical peruvian dishes! All of them were delicious and very filling
This was a very fun class! We got to try lots of new foods and the pisco sour was really fun to make
I highly recommend the experience - it was way higher, beyond my expectation and it's totally worth it! We met with Dael and he explained to us in great details on many things in the San Pedro Market, we then went to prepare a full course meal including passionfruit pisco sour, 3 different types of ceviche, Cream of mashua olluco and Rocoto stuffed with potato gratin and garden salad, lastly ended with lovely fruits and desserts. We greatly enjoyed the experience, learnt so much from him! Highly highly recommend it
Had my first cooking class ever with Dael and had an amazing time! Started at the San Pedro market where dael explained everything all the ingredients we would be using for our cooking class! We prepared 3 different ceviches, a potato cake, stuffed peppers and so much more! It was such a fun time!!! Definitely take this class!
This cooking class was an absolute highlight of our trip. Dael was amazing! He was so knowledgeable and it was really great to learn more about Cusco and the culture from a local! The cooking class was fantastic and we discovered lots of new flavours and techniques. I would highly recommend others to take this class. Thanks Dael!
