It was a unique experience trekking and seeing the beautiful views as well as the food and people were amazing. Our guide Edi was really helpful and friendly. The best part was the hike and learning about the culture. I felt I got a taste of the Inka people and the land. Thank you for such an amazing experience. I would love to do it again and I would recommend TreXexperience.

Just finished 4 day trek on Inca Trail. We were led by the legendary Daniel and Yovani. They were so encouraging and energetic when it was tough. The chef Beltran made us delicious meals and head porter Ruben led a team of Porters that are truly outstanding. Don’t doubt the trail and what it entails to complete but know the team at TreXperince will help you reach your goal!
If you want to have the most rewarding four days, this is the experience! This was the most physically taxing hike I have done but the risk was worth the reward! The views, friendships, food and challenge were amazing! Our guide, Avi was passionate about preserving the history of his people and teaching us about the Incan culture, engineering practices and food! Alex and Wilbur were great at assisting him and us! Julio, the chef created all food with love! You won’t regret booking this adventure!
This was one of the most amazing adventures I have ever had, significantly enhanced by Roger and Yovany who were our guides for the four day trek not forgetting to mention chef Daniel and the team of Porters who supported us every step of the way. There is some pretty serious trekking involved with this trip with significant ups and downs and outstandingly beautiful mountainous countryside with amazing views and Inca ruins along the way finishing up in the ancient city of Machu Picchu. Myself and my friend Kate also did the additional climb up Waynapicchu giving us spectacular views of the Machu Picchu site. This is another steep climb but not as impossible as it first looks. We ended the trip with dinner in a local restaurant and probably the most entertaining train journey I’ve ever had. Thanks again to Roger and Yovany for an amazing time and your exceptional knowledge of the Inka Trail and Machu Picchu site
Hard journey worth the effort!
Starting with the food: absolutely fantastic! Just like the tourguide and the whole organization of the trail.
Absolutely unforgettable trek and a must do if wanting to hike in Peru. Our guide, Nilton was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and taught us so much about the local history, culture and geology/geography of the area. Leonardo, our chef prepared outstanding hot, fresh, nutritious, hearty meals showcasing many local Peruvian dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner each day, Our porters and horse guides ensured that we arrived every day to a fully set up camp each evening, as well as preparing snacks and teas for us to have at rest stops. Overall, it was an incredible experience with staggering views of the Andes and an incredibly accommodating team to support us, would recommend to anyone and everyone wanting a challenging but rewarding hiking experience in Peru.
Speechless! Absolutely amazing experience provided by Nilton and Leonardo. An authentic Peruvian adventure that resulted in each day exceeding the previous. The cultural enrichment, traditional foods, hiking paths and amazing scenery was something we were constantly pinching ourselves over. In true Peruvian style, we felt a deep connection to the land/nature and its people. Regardless of the time of year, I would highly recommend this tour. Thank you, Nilton and Leonardo and the support crew involved!
Great time with our guides Roger and Ilias. They were always very helpful and cheerful. Thanks also to the chef Daniel. The food was great.
Trip specifics: Private, Luxury service for 2 This was our first hike ever as a couple, but the care and assurances provided by Jose and his team during our hike blew away any doubts or concerns we had prior to the trip (including my wife's pescatarian diet). It certainly was an indelible, incredible experience that we now hold very fondly of. Like everyone else, I wasn't sure which company to pick (and i'm certain there are many decent ones out there). However, what very quickly helped narrow my search to Trexperience, was the initial responses by Janet, (unlike most of her peers, who gave very generic cookie cutter responses) to my specific queries about the costings and considerations for the various hiking options. She was responsive even when i texted her outside of what i would consider of stretched working hours. One week prior to our trip, our flight out of Cusco was brought forward by LATAM 5 hours earlier. Janet very quickly helped to coordinate our train trip back from Aguas Calientes earlier so that we could catch our flight back. Jose was the main guide assigned to us and we couldn't have asked for a better one. He's full of knowledge across the region's history, botany and was very patient when we peppered him with our inquisitive questions, answering every single one. He was constantly checking in on us, making sure we were comfortable with the pace and reminding us to put on sun block (your skin will thank you for that!) The assistant guide, whom we referred affectionately to as "David Cha", was witty with a dry sense of humour which made our hike even more enjoyable. He made sure my wife and I were always safe by bringing up the rear, constantly catching us when we occasionally tripped or slipped during the more challenging trails. However, the one thing that impressed us most was when both guides picked up litter left by others on many occasions, preserving the cleanliness of the natural landscape. Food quantity was more than ample and were impressed by the quality of food. They even bothered to plate the dishes! We were always in good hands and couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Experience of a lifetime! Even though the weather was bad on day 2, I couldn‘t be happier. Thanks to our guides Edy and Danilo I learned so much about the Inca and Quechua People. They also kept the spirits high when we were soaked with rain or exhausted from Hilbig. I can‘t recommend them enough. Also, the food was incredible. I am vegetarian and there was always a delicious alternative for me. Don‘t know how they do this with Camping Equipment. Tent kept dry even in Heavy rain and the sleeping bag was warm enough for the Trek. Last but not least a great thanks to the porters - without their work, this would not have been possible.
Absolutely a dream come true, been thinking about this trip since the 11th grade! The entire TreXeperience team is top notch; the guides (Christian, Danilo, Lourdes) were amazing, the porters/chefs had everything figured out perfectly, and the office staff was always responsive and helpful! And the hike is nothing short of amazing...GO!
The staff were absolutely phenomenal! Daniel and Alex were the best and gave us gave us the most incredible experience of a lifetime! I learnt so much from them, and they made the trip 10x more fun than I thought which I didn’t think was even possible. So incredibly grateful with how kind and thoughtful they were too! All the porters went out their way to help us all individually and gave us the most magical experience. Chef: Daniel and Elisabeth cooked delicious food all week which was so impressive considering we were in the middle of the mountains ! Santos the head porter was amazing too and the service was great from him! Thank you so much everyone. Dan and Alex you are the best!
Rene is one of the best guide i've met. He is of great ownership, knowledgement and passion. and the Chef Javier served us well with delicious, fresh food.
The experience was expectacular. The team, compuse byb5he 2 guides: Monica, Nilton, chef Rolando, and Alfredo's porter team. . Was more than helpful, kind and with the best predisposition at all times. It was a blessing being able to share with them this trip. Thank you very much
Absolutely amazing experience. Couldn’t have asked for a better guide than Roger - he was so knowledgeable about Inca history and culture, it made it very meaningful and special for us. Some of the best views I’ve ever seen, topped off with an incredible tour of Machu Picchu at the end. Thank you Roger! Also special thank you to the porters carrying our bags between camp sites, it was a humbling sight! And also to the chefs that prepared delicious traditional Peruvian food for us - ceviche, causes, stir fry, chaufa, corn cakes and lots more. Can’t recommend the experience more. Huge thanks from David and Georgia
Wonderful trek. The guides, chefs, porters take excellent care of you. Food was outstanding. Excellent tents. Knowledge of the guides was excellent. Great locally owned company. Highly recommend. Look no further, TreXperience is the best!
Rolando - Chef Gilbert & René - Guides This trip was the most mental and physical challenge me and my fiancé have ever done. Thanks to the experience and expertise of both Rene and Gilbert we were able to conquer the trail. They were very supportive and patient and helped us through it all. Rolando has been an amazing chef! All of the food was incredible!! Everything was done timely and tasted amazing!!
If you’re looking for a truly authentic and unforgettable journey to Machu Picchu, skip the crowded Classic Inca and Salkantay trails and book the Inca Quarry Trail with TreXperience instead. This trek was a breathtaking and culturally rich adventure, showcasing raw natural beauty and a deep dive into real Peruvian traditions, landscapes, and cuisine. We are incredibly grateful to our amazing tour guides, Vincent and Sebastian, who were not only knowledgeable and passionate but also incredibly kind, patient, and inspiring throughout the four-day experience. A heartfelt thank you as well to our wonderful cooks and horsemen, whose hard work and dedication made each day comfortable, nourishing, and seamless. Day 1 began with a hike to the village of Socma, where we enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared with fresh local ingredients. We explored the village, connected with local families, and then hiked up to the stunning Perolniyoc waterfall before camping near the Korimarca archaeological site. Day 2 was the most challenging but also the most rewarding. We hiked up to Charkahuaylla Pass (4450m), where we were treated to spectacular views of the snow-capped Urubamba range and the Sacred Valley. After lunch by the peaceful Marcacocha Lake, we crossed over Apu Buena Negra before reaching Inti Punku (Sun Gate) and setting up camp at Choquetacarpo. Day 3 took us to the fascinating Cachiccata Quarry, the largest Inca quarry, where we learned about ancient stonework techniques and the incredible feats of Inca engineering. We then enjoyed a traditional Pachamanca barbecue with the Cachiccata community, before heading to Ollantaytambo, exploring its charming historic streets, and taking the train to Aguas Calientes for the night. Day 4 was the grand finale, avisit to the legendary Machu Picchu. We arrived early to explore the ancient citadel with our guide, who brought the site to life with insights into its history and architecture. Another highlight of the trip was the fantastic group of fellow travelers I had the pleasure of meeting. Sharing the experience with such warm, interesting people made the journey even more memorable. One of the most meaningful aspects of choosing this trail was knowing that it supports sustainable tourism and local communities. The route is less trafficked, which helps preserve the environment, and TreXperience partners with local villages and hires local guides, cooks, and horsemen, ensuring that the economic benefits go directly to the people of the region. Every detail of this trek. from the pristine nature and meaningful cultural experiences to the warmth of our guides, crew, and fellow hikers, was exceptional. I can’t recommend this hike enough for anyone seeking a genuine, less-traveled path to Machu Picchu. Thank you, Vincent, Sebastian, our cooks, horsemen, and all my fellow trekkers, for an unforgettable adventure!
The Quarry Trail was incredible! A beautiful and tough trek for 4 days to Machu Picchu. Each day was filled with breathtaking views and intriguing history of the Inca times. Our guides, Vincent and Sebastian, were friendly, funny and so helpful and accommodating! Each day we had assistance, laughter and great food by the chefs! I couldn’t recommend more.
A well rounded, adventure filled few days! Our initial trek was cancelled due to weather and we ended up doing the Quarry trail. The guides (Vincent and Sebastian) were extremely knowledgeable and inclusive, showing us a wonderful time.
Jose and the rest of the team for our trek were amazing. They even prepared a birthday cake for my son's birthday on the second night. Jose was very patient and very informative. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Trexperience and Jose for a trip of a lifetime.
José was an excellent tour guide - full of information, very responsive, positive and helpful. Wonderful stuff. The horse man and chefs were also super impressive, humble and hard working. I enjoyed the food- some more snacks would have been good! I loved our ‘pacha mamá’ ceremony and the lunch spot on the third day with the traditional food over the stones. The sun gate was special. It was a challenging hike but worth it! The circuit we did at Machu Picchu was by far the best - I saw other tours that didn’t get close. The only thing that would have made it better was a bigger, fitter group. It was at times slow going but that’s not a fault of Trekexperience. Thank you 🙏
This trek is a whole experience, the guides will immerse you in the 4 days of the trek with every aspect of the Peruvian and Inca culture, filled with delicious food from the chefs (vegan available), amazing landscapes, great guide energy all the time. If you find sleeping on tents uncomfortable they offer a sleeping mattress option and a very warm sleeping bag, which will significantly increase your sleep comfort. Overall one of the best experiences I’ve ever had, Abelardo and Milton the best mountain guides! They will show you a lot about Inca culture and constellations at night
I did this trek unexpectedly-- I had originally booked the Salkantay trek, but it was closed due to heavy rains and landslides. However the Inca Quarry Trail did not disappoint. It was an incredible journey with beautiful and diverse landscapes. I also appreciated being on a less crowded trail. Trexperience did an amazing job all around. Our guides were Abelardo and Nilton and our Chef was Zenovio, plus other excellent chefs and porters. Jazmin also helped me with booking the trip. Everyone was so kind, patient, and thoughtful, and really did all they could to make sure each individual had a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this trek and company.
This trip was once in a lifetime— GO, GO, GO!! Between the views, the food, and all the thoughtful touches in between, my family and I had the absolute BEST time with Trexperience on the Quarry Trail. Roger was the best tour guide one could ask for—his knowledge was endless, company was amazing, and he really cared about us enjoying and learning about his country and culture. The chefs were amazing—we ate better on the trail than we do at home! We even had bananas flambe one night! The trek itself was so beautiful and Roger did a great job of tailoring the speed and rest lengths to our group’s ability. Each campsite had an amazing view, and the tents, pads, and dinner were waiting for us on arrival. I cannot recommend this company, trip, and our crew enough! Añay!
Trexperience was great about helping us to decide on our trek, and accommodating us when the Inca Trail closed. Our guides Pepe and Eduardo were wonderful. The food was incredible. Highly recommend Trexperience.
Can’t say enough amazing things about this trip! Pepe and Edward were great guides, very informative and enthusiastic. The food and sleeping was above and beyond. Would recommend this to anyone wanting to get a taste of the amazing views this area of Peru has to offer
This trek surpassed every expectation. The entire group was so well taken care of. The guides, Pepe and Edwar were incredibly knowledgeable and supportive the entire way through. They both taught the entire group so much about Inca history, culture and plants. The hike itself was stunning, with views that felt like I was looking at a postcard. All of the support staff, including the horsemen and assistant chefs, worked so incredibly hard to make everything go smoothly. Our chef, Alejandro was unbelievable! We couldn’t believe how delicious the food was every single meal. He is so talented. Overall, the experience was phenomenal. I cannot recommend Trexperience enough. Thank you so much to Pepe (Jose), Edwar, Alejandro and all of the wonderful staff!!!
Wow! What an amazing experience!! I could not have had a better time hiking through the Andes. My friends and I planned this trip for my 30th birthday and it delivered on all aspects. From the horsemen carrying our gear and setting up camp, the chef Alejandro and his assistants making out of this world delicious meals and snacks, and our 2 guides Jose and Edwar leading us on the trails and giving us amazing lessons on history, this was by far the best backcountry trip we could have done! The weather was on our side the whole time, we saw some jaw dropping scenery, and shared many laughs. I could not recommend this trek and this company enough!
This was my first group hiking experience so I didn’t know what to expect, but trexperience exceeded all expectations! Every single staff member went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed, from hot coca tea in the morning to hot water bottles at night for sleeping in the tent! The food was 5 stars, the porters very so hard working and the guides were very supportive and knowledgeable! It’s a challenging trek so it was nice to have patient and supportive guides! Would definitely recommend this trek and company!
Absolut magnificent experience. The entire team from the guide, porter, chef or office people did a perfect job. I would go again!
The porters were such hard worlers, chef and chef's assistants made some of the best food I have ever eaten. Both guides Pépe and Edwardo were knowledgable, kind, funny and a true delight! Highly recommend this company and these 2 guides. I would give 6 out of 5 stars if I could!
Excellent trip. Originally booked the Inca but due to landslides this was the alternative. I was apprehensive of the Inca due to level of traffic so in hindsight the quarry was perfected. Super quiet, amazing scenery, challenging. Our guides Roger, Sebastian and team of chefs and porters were brilliant. Made it a very special trip! Highly recommend this trek for something off the beaten track.
Roger was an outstanding guide who provided a wonderful cultural and spiritual experience on our 4 day quarry trek. The hiking scenery was absolutely beautiful. Vidal’s cooking was delicious! We even had special birthday cake. I highly recommend this trek as an alternative to the Classical Inca Trail.
Such an amazing trip! It was the perfect balance of challenging and comfortable, and the views and locations were gorgeous. Our chef, Vidal, was excellent - every meal was different and multiple courses of delicious. I highly recommend our guide, Roger - he was very experienced, knowledgeable, and fun to spend time with. If you’re looking for a way to experience Peru and the Sacred Valley, this is it!
We really enjoyed the 4 days with our guide Frank. We took care of everything and made sure we have a wonderful experience. The views were amazing and the food excellent (it's impressive what our chef Eulogio and his team managed to cook on the mountains). Would very much recommend!
We really enjoyed the hike! The food, our guide and the crew were amazing! There was always enough time to rest and enjoy the views.
Amazing guide (Franklin) and great overall experience. Beautiful views and amazing meals as well. Everything flowed very well into the next and the days are well spaced in terms of workload
This trail was simply amazing! We chose to do the classic inka trail, which we couldn’t do due to landslides. This one was the alternative. AND a good one!! Not many people on the way, and we were alone enjoying nature with the best guides ever!! Thank you Abelardo, thank you Nilton!! We are glad to call you our peruvian friends!:-)
JJ, Pepe and Julio were so wonderful! We took our college age children on this - all of us were at different physical fitness abilities, as were the other participants. They accommodated everyone’s needs. Were so kind and patient. Balbino and his team made incredible meals - seriously, five star accommodations. Such an amazing trip. We all loved it!!
The guides JJ, Pepe, Julio very knowledgeable and super helpful great guys!! We did the trek with my college kids they loved it. Balbino was our cook and was amazing.
Absolutely first rate trip from booking to the final day, great communication before the trek and once it started the 3 main guides JJ, Pepe and Julio were fantastic with every member of the group. The unsung porters worked tirelessly every day to get ahead and set up camp, the food served at every meal in the middle of nowhere by Balbuno the chef and his team was amazingly presented and tasted as good as it looked! My first ever trek and a brilliant experience, thank you to everyone at TreXexperience and I hope you have a fantastic season!
Better than we could have expected!! Originally booked the classic inka trail but as the trail was closed we were moved to the Quarry trail. This did not disappoint!! The views were beautiful and the crew (JJ, JL and Pepe) made the experience unforgettable. They went over and above at every stage of the trek. And the food cooked by Balbino and his team was incredible. Crazy what the can produce on the side of a mountain! 100/10 would recommend.
Amazing experience. Nothing was too much trouble from start to finish. We had 5 star treatment from our guides JJ, Pepe and Julio. I have never been so well looked after and learned so much on a tour before. The porters were fabulous and Balbino the chef amazed us daily with all the food. It was excellent. We even had cake one day for breakfast. The trekking was tricky at times but the Guides were so patient with us all, plenty of breaks and encouragement made everything possible. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone considering it. Mucho wow wow!!
Truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that was only made possible by the hard work, incredible attitudes, and local knowledge of the entire team! Our guides JJ, Julio, and Pepe and the cooks led by Balbino were so friendly and helpful throughout our entire four days. The three-course meals in the mountains were some of the best food we had in Peru. The guides went out of their way to check in on us and offer support during the challenging hikes. Communication with the Trexperience team was also smooth and overall the entire trip was very well-organized. We felt like kings and queens in the mountains! I would not hesitate to book another trek with Trexperience. A big thank you to the our guides — mucho wow wow!
I enjoyed the trip so much! Our tour guides JJ, Pepe, and Julio have been so attentive to every person on the group, especially when I was struggling with going uphill at an high altitude and was slowing down. They have always supported me, and the rest of the group, from start to finish. The food at our camps truly exceeded our expectation, to the credit of our cook Balbino. The quarry trail is a great alternative to the Inca trail and the view is truly breathtaking. It was amazing to explore nature, learn some Incan history with our guides, and challenge ourselves physically. Easy five stars!
Fantastic hike, could not recommend it more. The views were incredible but even more the tour guides were amazing! JJ, Pepe and Julio the guides could not have been better. Very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The food was outstanding and the camping was very well set up. 10/10 does not even cover it - highly highly recommend.
Amazing team, they worked so hard to make our hikes and our camps easy. I’ll start with the hike, we had amazing scenery . The food was soo delicious even better then the restaurants. And the guide tour are so patient and have alot of knowledge about hiking history …
We booked the Inca Trail Machu Picchu (3n/4days) hike directly with Trexperience as they provided reimbursement guarantee if the trip was cancelled for any reason. TreXperience was recommended by a travel blog I followed and felt secure enough to book the not small amount of $2k plus for my daughter (17) and I. Before setting out to Lima/Cusco we learned of was imperative to acclimate our bodies to the altitude and be prepared with various medicinal support. I was hit hard upon arrival with the full array of altitude sickness symptoms which surprised me. My daughter, less so. During our first couple of days in Cusco TreXperience advised us directly (WhatsApp) that the route we had booked had been closed due to landslides and maintenance. They offered a similar trek/destination that actually cost more thank the original but there was no attempt at upscale. They swapped it and ate the additional costs directly. What we learned at the orienteering session the night prior was essential for our preparedness and alps an opportunity to meet our guides and fellow trekkers. Little did we know how close we would become in the coming days. Firstly I feel it needs to be said that this was our first visit to Peru and in the months prior i had read much about the country, but what I learned on the actual trek from our guides and the mountains and sky "Pacha Mama" was so much more. TreXperience is wholly owned and operated by Quechuan people from the Sacred Valley and they could not have been more caring and professional of all of our needs for safety and comfort. As I mentioned, I was hard but by altitude sickness and it was an arduous trek up and over the mountain. In let like a sloth slowly making my way up and over with constant headache with the ascent. At no time did I feel rushed. Nothing but kindness, patience and understanding from our guides and fellow trekkers. Edy "the Puma", our lead guide, and Renato, were passionate about the area, their people/history and shared openly with us all their knowledge. It was fantastic and an experience I will hold dear for the rest of my days. The trek itself is the reward. The porters, pack horses, the cooks .. all trekking the same trail. Incredible food and support of the tents and sleeping bags all set up for us prior to arriving at camp. Yes. Arduous. The reward, invaluable.
