This was an amazing experience! The private tour was guided by Louis who is very knowledgeable and shared insights on the history and culture. His driver, (also named Louis) was courteous and professional. We were able to see how fabric was made, purchase chocolate and souvenirs; however, the highlight of the trip was Moray! I highly recommend this experience.
I highly recommend this company. Both Luis the guide and Luis the driver were very professional. Our guide was very knowledgeable about each archeological site which heightened our experience. Louis also made recommendations for local cuisine and took us to an amazing restaurant.
We had excellent weather for our trip. We first stopped in Chinchero for a demonstration of alpaca wool making and although our guide said no pressure to buy anything, it was hard to say no to the women! So we bought two beautiful sweaters and a blanket. Then we went to Moras, which is probably nicer to see during dry season when they are harvesting the salt, but it will still an impressive site. Then our last stop was at Moray, which was the real highlight. Gary provided us with a ton of great information about the history and the making of the terraces, and also explained their calculator system, which was fascinating. Don't forget your sunscreen!
Fun tour. Perfect for a wind down day after more challenging tours or to start your trip slowly. There’s a bit of walking, but the guide was sensitive to everyones different speeds. Wilbert was very knowledgeable and attentive. The driver Alberto was good. Overall a great day.
Gary was our guide, we had a wonderful day, he took our photos and knows the best spots for it. His knowledge of local history is very rich and we learned a lot from him. Definitely this tour is 5 stars.
Gary did a great job of personalizing and adding to our experience at each site, from demonstrating how different colors were made in traditional weavings to solving math sums on an Incan calculator. Fun, relaxing experience and learned a lot!
Great experience, thanks to our guide Fabrizio. We could see a lot of interesting things and Fabrizio pointed out aspects of the places that we didn't know.
We had a wonderful tour that turned out to be private! Alexis did an awesome job taking us to all the sites including the textile demonstration. He knew just where to stand to get the best views and even recommended a great family restaurant to have lunch when we returned to Cusco. Highly recommend this tour!
Small group, was a good use of time to be able to see Moray salt flats and Maras. Depends on your tour guide how much of Maras you get to see, we had wanted to go down to see closer and were told we were not on the circuit which was disappointing. Overall had good information, very driver dependent on aggressive driving. Overall positive experience
Alexis was an amazing guide who is very knowledgeable about Incan history and knew all the best spots to view Moray and Maras. He arrived 5 minutes early and the tour lasted the length advertised. He showed me the clothing market as well as the chocolate and salt shop , but made clear immediately that there was no pressure to buy anything. I ended up getting some souvenirs, but there was never any uncomfortable pressure to do so. The driver also did a great job. Highly recommended!
Had an amazing day and my favorite day trip from Cusco. Moray is stunning and “visceral” if that makes sense? You really feel the amount of work that went into this place. Don’t miss it!
Fun day trip to Maras/Moray! We enjoyed the beautiful sights with our tour guides! My parents weren’t feeling well, but they were very accommodating and offered to pick them up to go hang out with the llamas at the end of the tour. Enjoyed!
Our day trip to Maras, Moray, and the Salt Flats was a fantastic venture that gave us a profound insight into the beautiful landscapes and rich culture of the Cusco region. The communication with the tour company was impeccable, ensuring a prompt pickup from our hotel. Our group was intimate, just us and our guide, providing a very personal experience. We began our tour at the archaeological park in Chinchero, followed by a visit to the local community known for their alpaca wool textiles. Witnessing the craftsmanship of the local artisans was a unique and enlightening experience. We then moved on to the breathtaking archaeological sites of Maras and Moray. Each location offered spectacular views, and the scenic drives between sites were equally captivating. Our guide was enthusiastic, engaging, and extremely knowledgeable, enriching our understanding of each site we visited. He also proved to be an excellent photographer, capturing numerous beautiful photos throughout the day. Tasting local specialties at the markets we passed added an authentic flavor to our experience. Many Sacred Valley tours include Chinchero, Maras, and Moray, but given the vast array of attractions the area has to offer, I recommend booking this tour in addition to a standard Sacred Valley tour. This allows for more dedicated time at each site, avoiding a rushed experience and enabling a deeper engagement with the locations rather than brief stops for photos. This tour was a perfect complement to our broader exploration of the Sacred Valley, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in each site’s unique aspects. Highly recommended for those looking to explore beyond the typical tourist path and gain a deeper understanding of the region's heritage.
We enjoyed every minute of the trip. Efraim was kind and vey knowledgable. I loved the Chinchero ladies, and we splurged a bit by buying a beautiful alpacca shawl. No regrets whatsoevr! All the best!
Brilliant tour. Our tour guides Gary and Louise were great, sharing lots of information and knowledge with us. Gary really went above and beyond our expectations, being an Inca descendent he had lots of inside culture to share. Would 100% recommend this tour.
This was the perfect length tour for us. We only had half a day and wanted to visit Sacred Valley, but didn’t have time to do a full tour. We booked relatively last minute but our guide Fredi was ready and waiting for us first thing in the morning. We had perfect timing with all of our stops, our guide got us good picture spots without lots of crowds. Chinchero, Moray, and the Salt Mines were all beautiful and our guide explained the significance and history of the places. We stopped at a textile mill and the demonstration was interesting, though the women there were..persistent. I had read about them in other reviews, so I was prepared and expecting that. Everything else during the day was great! Our driver got us everywhere safely and timely. I would recommend if you only have a limited amount of and are wanting to visit some of Sacred Valley!
Very good guide and service . Pickip was on time and our guide Erfian was amazing and well knowledged.
The guide provided an experience exceeding expectations. The places we visited were perfectly described and the tour was conducted as expected.
Francisco really brought our trip to life. He has a passion to share his country with visitors. He had some really good info and was very pleasant. The tour was well planned and very enjoyable! Will definitely recommend to others!
For starters, the sites are beautiful and well worth the trip. My guide Efrain and the accompanying driver were on time, knowledgeable about the sites, and completely professional. As a solo female traveler, I was nervous but they took great care of me and had me back to Cusco in good time. The only reason I knock down a star is because (as others have mentioned) at the end of the Chinchcero visit, you stop by a local market where they demo how alpaca/wool products are made. The entire experience is to get you to buy something and they make it really uncomfortable if you don’t. It’s sours the experience but often the name of the game with these types of tours.
The tour was fabulous, the driver Luis and the guide Gary were very knowledgeable and professional. I would recommend this trip to anyone who doesn’t want to get up at 3:00 am and who spent want to walk too much
Gary took us to these beautiful historic spots. It was an awesome experience! He also took a lot of pur pictures.
This was great. It was brief at a half day, and the perfect way to spend a day between Rainbow Mountain (which was exhausting) and Machu Picchu. But the salt mines were really stunning and fascinating, and Moray was a must-visit (I didn’t expect it to be). Our guide, Fabrizio, was also excellent - funny and knowledgable. I found the woman doing the instruction about Peruvian clothes weaving to do a bit of a hard sell, which I didn’t like, but otherwise it was very good.
We had only the Saturday free, and there were only three companies offering this trip on that day. We chose this company because it had the best reviews. We were picked up promptly by Luis (driver) and Luis (guide). Both were great. The car was clean, the guide knowledgeable. The trip itself was very interesting. As well as the specific sites you visit, you see a lot of beautiful vistas in the surrounding area. Recommended.
This is the first time we book a tour guide through Viator and it provided us with far below average expected service. My wife and I booked a private tour because we wanted a fuller experience with less pressure to move along with a group but what we get is lesser experience. Our tour guide was Gary and we read some positive review of Gary that left us wondering if we are talking about the same Gary? Our tour guide Gary has another name Garcia on his badge and he has a tiny mole on his right chin. First and foremost Gary was late arriving at the meeting point, our driver Raul waited with us for Gary to arrive, when Gary arrived about 10-15 minutes later, there was no apology or explanation, he only says hello and go on and tell us where we are going next. The drive to Sacred Valley from Cusco is about 1.5 hrs each way, Gary was very quiet on the drive to Sacred Valley, my wife and I tried to break the silence by asking Gary a few questions about the what we saw along the way, Gary's answers were always short and unclear, we get a feeling that Gary is not interested in talking at all. During the tour of the Maras and Moray, Gary only do the minimum expected and are always walking far ahead of us, at one point we were unable to see Gary at all. The only times Gary took the initiative to talk to us in the van were when he was trying to persuade us to make the 2 shopping stops. We travel very distance to get there and we barely have a few minutes to stand still and take in the marvelous sceneries because Gary is always ahead of us, not with us. The drive back to Cusco is another long silent drive, we could see Gary sleeping in the front seat. In the end we still tip Gary 40 soles, not because he deserves it but because we have a soft spot for all working class as we are. I have to say Raul did a good job of driving us both ways. We had a wonderful tour guide at Machu Picchu and we were so glad that Gary was NOT our guide then.
Great tour, booking it I was under the impression that there would be a couple other ppl with us but I was just me and my girlfriend so we wound up with a private tour, our driver nacho was great, and our guide flora was awesome, she was very knowledgeable, very friendly, funny and personable, she gave us a nice handful of recommendations, every one so far was a home run
Thank you very much for your service Machupicchu Latin America, you are very professional in what you do. Very informed guides, clean cars, command of the language and knowledge of your culture. The salt mines are a highly recommended place to visit since the route is not difficult, and what an enigmatic place, I really enjoyed your service. Thank you for everything Fredy and the Machupicchu Latin America team.
Highly recommedable. I did this special tour salt mine do maras, moray and Ollantaytambo with my family and it was so amazing. This peruvian company organized everything very well for us with a memorable guide Fabrizio, full knowledge, patient and a good driver Juan. Thank you very much for this unforgetable tour.
Michael was an amazing guide. He was the reason it was so good. While the places were very nice to view, he completely brought it to life!
We chose Machu Picchu Latin America tours after reading so many great reviews, and were so glad we did! We had an excellent tour guide (Gary) who is not only knowledgeable, but obviously passionate about the history of the Quechua community and Incan empire. His perspective and attention to detail made this an incredible tour. (He also was great with knowing the best spots to stop and take a quick photo, which was great too). We’d highly recommend this company and would book with them again in a heartbeat.
The tour was very personalized. Our tour guide Bernardo was amazing! The history lessons along with the amazing views completed a great trip for us.
Bernando was great! He was very informative, knowledgeable, passionate and proud of Peru’s history. We were a group of 6 and he made us all feel very welcomed. Definitely an unforgettable experience! Would highly recommend
We had a great day on this tour! All of the sights were beautiful and we learned a lot about each place and cusco in general. A great way to start off your trip while adjusting to the altitude. Bernardo our guide was excellent! He was extremely knowledgeable, kind, and created a great experience. Our driver Jaime was also excellent and made us feel very safe. Highly recommend
We had a very great tour with Gary! We’ve visited centre for rescuing alpacas, llamas and baby condors, Maras and Moray and Salt Flats. Gary told us a lot about Inca’s history, their traditions and their way of life. It was very interesting and fascinating. During our visit to the rescuing centre we saw different breeds of llamas and alpacas and we were able to fed and pet them. At this centre we also learnt how alpacas fiber is processed (there were women who did it in Inca’s traditional way). You can also buy clothes and accessories made from real Alpaca wool. Gary also told us a lot about Inca’s philosophy and rituals (such as Ayahuasca). There’s a small museum with some ancient Inca’s artefacts. Then we went to Moray - Inca’s laboratory for researching how crops grow at different altitudes and microclimates. Gary led us around the cite via unpopular way, so we got to experience the view without the crowd. He has also told us a lot about plants that grew around the cite and how people use them. The last was Maras - salt mines. We were told about how this place was formed and how Incas used it and for which purposes. What’s interesting is that it’s a fully functional salt mine at the moment and the salt is exported to at least 17 countries. Overall we very satisfied with the tour, our guide Gary and driver Luis! Many thanks to you!!!
Roman (driver) and Bernardo (guide) are super friendly and kind. We had a comfortable ride to a textile shop in Chinchero, followed by Maras, and finally Moray. Bernardo was a knowledgeable guide and shared many stories and historical facts from Peru's history. If you're interested in history and want a casual tour, I highly recommend this tour!
We were a group of 4 and enjoyed this tour very much. Tour Guide Gary could provide a lot of interesting information and made us feel very welcome. Driver Roman drove carefully. Extremely recommended!
This was a nice tour - not that much hiking and it was very informative. Our guide Bernardo really understood the culture and history and was great at explaining this to us. The trip was well coordinated and the bus transportation was efficient.
Amazing tour! We loved every minute of it. The guide spoke great English and was extremely knowledgeable.
Amazing history and stunning landscape. Gary is a very nice and accommodating guide. He is also knowledgeable about the history. We enjoyed the tour very much.
This tour has been one of my favorite parts of our Peru trip so far! Our driver, Roman, kept us safe and got us to our destinations promptly despite a few road closures. Gary, our guide, was SO informative, best guide I’ve met. His Inca history stories and interactive demonstrations made the day 100X more interesting than you’d already expect. Groups are 2-3 parties max. It cost 80 soles (equals US $20) entrance fee total for both sites in addition to trip fee. You should also be prepared for the brief stop at a weaving demonstration, after which the demonstrators hope you may buy their products as is common in Peru. Gary reminded us that this is very optional. Loved the demonstration so I personally chose to tip a few soles. All was so worth it, and I don’t splurge on tours!
Gary provided much knowledge about the ancient Inca civilization. He was very detailed and engaging with our group. He offered to take photos for us too. It truly was a wonderful experience seeing these ancient sites. Seeing the historical sites up close was a truly unique and enriching experience.
Fantastic tour led by Bernando! Pickup was right on time, and Bernando was friendly and informative. His English was excellent. He answered our many questions and even provided additional information on other sites not within the tour. The car was comfortable, and the driver (Fredi) managed the narrow and winding roads with ease. Overall, a great tour that I would highly recommend.
Bernardo was our tour guide. He was very nice and knowledgeable. He was able to answer all of our questions. His English was good too. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because we stopped at a hand weaving demonstration that I didn’t expect and felt pressured to buy.
Everything was great. Lots of information and a wonderful day all together. I would highly recommend this to somebody else.
Elfrin was a friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating guide. The sites were beautiful and provided a great opportunity to learn about the Cusco economy and culture.
My husband and I just got back from a private tour with our guide Gary and our driver Victor, both are very accommodating. I highly recommend doing this tour with Machu Picchu Latin America. Communication with owner Fredi was very smooth via WhatsApp. Since we are going to do a two day Sacred Valley- Machu Pichu tour with his company, he kindly suggested that we do this tour the day before so we can use the same Moray ticket for the Sacred Valley tour, which saved us 70 sol per person. Gary is a very patient and knowledgable guide who explained everything clearly to us. He took some great photos for us in Chinchero and also at the salt mines and Moray. My husband and I both have gained a deeper understanding for the Inca culture. When I saw big tour buses at those two spots, I am so glad we got a private tour with a great guide.
Visiting the salt flats was spectacular and the ancient ruins were absolutely breathtaking! highly recommend this trip to anyone!
We had a great half-day tour of Maras and Moray with Luis! My husband and I booked a small group package that turned out to be a private tour. We were picked up promptly from our hotel, and everyone was very friendly. Luis did an excellent job explaining the history of both sites. We learned a lot and walked at a comfortable pace for our first full day at altitude. We loved Luis's expert eye for photography and bonus bird-watching tips along the way! I appreciated that there was no pressure to add on a stop in Chinchero to buy souvenirs from weavers since we wanted to be back in Cusco in time for lunch.
We opted for the private tour and it was worth it. We were on a bigger tour with another company and had a free day in Cusco so we found this trip and it was great. The tour guide spoke good English and told us a lot about the history of the Inca and the area, It was great how he would put out his opinion and then back it up of why he believes that is how it was. He answered question not only of the area but also about Peru and history of the Inca that was not being covered on the other tour. We were not rushed and had plenty of time to see the area. He asked up front what we did and say so that he didn't repeat what we already heard which was very refreshing as it was not a canned speech. We had plenty of time for pictures and he did a great job of taking pictures of us. I have a Nikon and most tour guide can't use it as all they ever use is a phone camera I didn't have to explain anything to him and he took great pictures. We asked him to take a picture of us and he said not yet walk over there and we did they he took it and when I got back to the room and looked at them WOW!!! they were great. Defiantly recommend this company. We were so happy we took this private tour.
