We had a lovely walk to the market where the chef explained many of the foods and how we would be preparing them. We had a little time to shop as well, before heading to the studio to cook. Overall a fantastic experience.

A great four hours spent with Mauricio and a new colleague who had recently joined the cooking school. Double the attention. We spent about an hour at the San Pedro market learning about the local fruit and vegetables. We started the cooking course with instruction on how to make pisco sours then made four local dishes. It was a very relaxing way to spend a morning.Highly recommended.
We were a small group (5) and our guide took us to SAN Pedro market before the class. He explained far more than just the foods we were going to use and gave us some tips of what to buy if we decided to come back on our own. Next we were escorted to the school ( well equipped) and began preparing food items. It was a mix of us preparing the food and have some things already prepared. We made pisco sours ( with and without pisco), 3 types of ceviche and a main dish of potato soup, stuff peppers and a potato and cheese dish. Dessert was various local fruit. All in all it was an excellent, fun and informative experience.
It was an amazing opportunity to experience local culinary and making our own pisco sour drinks.
This is a great way to gain a deeper understanding of local food and ingredients, which truly enriched my trip to Peru!
Book this. Seriously. My terrific tour company - Peru Increíble - booked me for a San Pedro Market tour followed by a vegan cooking class, and it turned out to be the highlight of my time in Cusco. Chef Mauricio Martinez is the real deal. The man has a genuine gift for food, for teaching, and for making the whole thing fun without trying too hard. The market tour came first. If you've never stood in front of a single stall selling 100 varieties of potatoes, you haven't lived. We wandered through, learned what we were looking at, and I picked up a few things to take home. It's the kind of experience that actually teaches you something about Peruvian culture rather than just showing you something to photograph. Then into the cooking studio, which is warm, well-equipped and has a real kitchen-school feel to it. We started by making a Maracuyá Pisco Sour. I now understand why Pisco Sours are a national obsession, and I have a new favorite drink. From there, three different takes on vegan ceviche (all excellent), three more courses, and a sorbet made entirely from fresh fruit that was the best way to end a meal I can remember. I left better at cooking, completely full, happy, and only slightly tipsy. That's a perfect afternoon. If you're vegan or plant-based, you'll be well taken care of. If you're not, I’ve heard from others that the regular classes are equally excellent. Mauricio makes everything land.
What a fun experience! Our guides were so friendly and knowledgeable and patient with all our group’s questions. The cooking class was unique and interactive and very interesting.
Mauricio showed first around the market explaining produce and traditions with food and other items. Back to his well set out studio/ kitchen for preparation of Pisco sour. We then prepared ceviche in 3 different ways , potato soup, stuffed peppers with a potato cheese layer which was enjoyed at the set dining table. You didn’t need to have a vast cooking experience. He produced a selection of fruits for desert. Throughout there was clear explanation, help and humour and our group interacted well. The utensils and space was great and would thoroughly recommend. He promptly sent through photos and the recipes, though may be a challenge sourcing some in the UK!
This was a wonderful cooking class! We met at the San Pedro Market first then went to the studio to cook. The studio is bright and spacious with plenty of room. We started with a Pisco Sour (excellent) and moved on to several other traditional Peruvian dishes including 3 different types of ceviche, all were excellent. I highly recommend this cooking class while you are in Cusco.
Dael was great! Our family had a great time exploring San Pedro Market and learning new recipes! Thank you 😊
Very fun experience - walked through the market, including the area where locals shop, and learned a great deal about foods of the region. Mauricio was a wonderful guide. Afterwards we headed to the studio and prepared a delicious feast (!). He was very accommodating for our group that included vegan and vegetarian members. Highly recommended!
Great experience with very good quality food and our chef was amazing. Had a great evening despite not doing that much of the actual preparation/cooking ourselves as lots already done. Also, there was only one free cocktail not two free ones as advertised. Overall would recommend as a unique experience.
Absolutely amazing experience at Cusco Culinary. We take cooking classes whenever we travel, and this was easily one of the best. Mauricio was hilarious, knowledgeable, and an incredible chef and guide. I’m vegan, my wife is lactose intolerant, and apparently we enjoy making chefs work harder. He handled it effortlessly, everything was adapted perfectly, and there was enough food to feed a small Peruvian village. The ceviches were fantastic, the stuffed pepper was a standout, and the dessert was almost too beautiful to eat. Almost. We also tried tons of local fruits and vegetables we’d never encountered in the U.S. The market tour was a huge highlight. Mauricio seems to know everyone, showed us his favorite vendors, taught us about the ingredients, and gave us the confidence to explore it ourselves afterward. Come hungry. Very hungry. And ask for Mauricio.
I felt that Mauricio was very knowledgeable and kind hearted. He took us through the market asking us questions to get to know us but also telling us about different cultural aspects while picking out groceries. The cooking class was very chill and relaxing. It was nice to try Peruvian food while getting to know more about the culture. Thanks for the great experience Mauricio!
Great experience!! You truly get to try and understand the Peruvian cuisine!! They were accommodating for my wife who has a gluten allergy. Highly Recommend!
An incredible experience overall. We started with a tour of the Cusco central market. Our guide and chef Mauricio was super knowledgeable and insightful on both the products there and the cultural significance behind them. He taught us about the various potatoes, fruits, and more, and we got to try some chocolate. After the market it was a short walk to his studio, which was super nice and clean with the perfect set up for a cooking lesson. After crafting a pisco sour to start, our first course was ceviche. There were three of us, and we each made a different type of ceviche, all of which were interesting and delicious. From there we made a soup, then a potato and cheese baked dish as a side for the main course, which was bell peppers stuffed with peas, zucchini, chilis, olives, and other seasonings. To cap it off, we made lucuma gnocchi for dessert, which was served with custard apple sorbet, gooseberries, and cactus fruit. The dishes were simple yet delicious. A lot of the pastes and such were prepared beforehand, but we did enough ourselves that we felt that extra sense of accomplishment while eating the food. It felt like the perfect blend of hands on and ease of cooking. Loved it, highly recommend, just take it light on the pisco sour if it’s your first day at altitude, and especially if you’re a lightweight like me.
This was such an awesome experience!!! Great way to see the San Pedro Market and learn about many different Peruvian dishes. The food was great and the pisco sour was delicious - highly recommend!
It was such a good experience, our guide was amazing and the food was insanely delicious. This is a must do while in cusco!!
This was a great cooking class! Mauricio was an amazing guide and the food was amazing
Truly one of the best things I did while I was in Peru. If you want a unique experience where you not only try real authentic Peruvian food, but also learn how to cook it, this is the activity to do. Not only was I provided with a list of recipes so I can bring home a taste of Peru to my family and friends, but chef Dael was one of the friendliest people I met while in Peru.
The class was fantastic! Mauricio takes you all over the market, explains the different areas and all of the different ingredients we will be using to cook. He even picks them up while we are there. The cooking space was neat cooking studio a couple of blocks from the market, and had everything we needed to make 4 courses AND learn how to make pisco sours! We made 3 types of ceviche, and my friend that doesn’t like fish made it with mangoes instead of fish - just as delicious! Then we made a soup from scratch, and then the final “main” course. Everything from scratch! He even taught us how to properly plate our food to look nice! We ended with an array of fruits for dessert. Mauricio was just fantastic!
Dial did an amazing job for the entire experience. He met us on time at the designated location, then gave us a fascinating tour of the San Pedro Market. We learned about traditional Peruvian and Andean foods and customs, and about the market itself. We previewed all of the fruits and vegetables we would cook with and more. The cooking class itself was in a beautiful old house with a contemporary kitchen and dining room which served our purposes perfect. Dial's instructions were informed and easy to follow. We didn't feel rushed, and were able to successfully make multiple Peruvian drinks and dishes. The food was absolutely incredible, and we hope to recreate at home. Favorites include the Pisco sours, multiple ceviches and unique fruits for dessert. Dial is kind, intelligent and very knowledgeable. He made us feel very welcome and we had a great time cooking and talking to him about so many aspects of Peruvian life! Recommend highly!!!
If you are going to do one tour in Cusco, do this one!! Wow! It far exceeded every expectation. Our chef Dael was amazing. We started with a very fun tour of the market and then cooked so many different dishes for over 4 hours. It was incredible! So excited to go home and cook our own ceviche!
This is a must do in Cusco. The experience starts with meeting Chef Dael as he walks you through different aisles of Sam Pedroatker and picks up produce for the meal that you’ll be cooking. It’s about an hour on the Mather and you get a good overview of Andean produce and techniques. After which you walk to the culinary studio and prepare your three course meal. The recipes are unique and flavorful and healthy. You get to make pisco sour, an appetizer and dessert and sop on chica morada in between courses. The group size is small and intimate and you get to learn a lot about Peru in general. Wish we had done it on the first day instead of the last so we would had more time to explore San Pedro market after the tour
This cooking class was one of my favourite activities from our whole trip - it was well worth making the time in our quick trip to Cusco for! Our guide, Mauricio, was incredibly knowledgeable with experience in high end restaurants and lecturing at universities. He was an excellent teacher, engaging and down-to-earth, and taught us lots about local cuisine and its history. I really enjoyed the market tour - it added a whole new layer of depth to the cooking we did, as we were able to see the many amazing types of local ingredients firsthand and learn all about it and more in a market environment. The cooking school itself is in a really nice quiet building and the space and equipment was very clean and professional. The food we prepared was delicious - and there was so much of it! We made pisco sour, three types of ceviche, capsicum stuffed with a delicious cheesy potato mixture, and about three other dishes - all really tasty and things I wouldn't have tried if it weren't for this experience. Highly recommend Cusco Culinary if you're after a fun experience where you're well looked after with true professionals!
Good experience, he taught us many dish such as Pisco, 3 type of Ceviche, potato soup, and many dish that use ingredient from local market
Mauricio was just amazing. We had such a good time and learnt so much about Peruvian culture and food whilst enjoying some amazing dishes. We would highly recommend !!
I had a wonderful experience today at the Cusco Cooking Class. Our guide and chef Mauricio was very knowledgeable, attentive ,and seemed to be genuinely passionate about peruvian cuisine which made the experience even more memorable. The food we cooked was delicious and we ate so much I could barely breathe after. I 100% recommend it.
We had an excellent experience with this cooking class. Mauricio did a fantastic job guiding us through the market and sharing valuable tips about what to eat, what to avoid, and what questions to ask to ensure a safe and healthy experience. After the market tour, we walked to a beautiful, well-appointed studio in a great location. Mauricio and his team were welcoming, organized, and made sure everyone had a great time. The food was absolutely delicious, and the entire experience was both fun and educational. We had kids with us, and they had a blast as well. Mauricio was engaging and made the class enjoyable for all ages. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a memorable cooking class.
Our cooking class was great! We had Mauricio and he was so knowledgeable and fun. He really led the class well even when we got sidetracked. You could tell he put quite a bit of thought into mixing the different tastes for the meal and he accommodated our need for gluten-free seamlessly. I'd highly recommend this cooking class!
Amazing cooking class! Mauricio was wonderful - he made sure that the food we made was tweaked to suit everyone's dislikes and allergies. The tour of the San Pedro market was really helpful with some good tips on what to look out for! And the food was AMAZING. This was my favourite activity in Cusco city during my trip :) I would do it again just for the ceviche!!
this was a great tour and cooking class. We fully enjoyed the experience and would do the tour again.
Everything was spotless, a must do in Cusco! The Chef, Mauricio, was very nice, he explained everything perfectly! We truly enjoyed and recommend the experience!
Hands down this was one of the best parts of our trip! So fun learning at San Pedro market and cooking! Maurcerio is amazing and the food was delicious! We had a fantastic time
This was a great way to begin our visit to Peru. The tour thru the market introduced us to new vegetables, fruits and spices and the cooking class location was first class! The meal that we helped to prepare was beautiful and delicious! 100% recommend!
What a fun class! We really enjoyed learning about the local Peruvian foods and getting to cook with them. Everything tasted delicious and our chef Mauricio was very nice! He went above and beyond to help us navigate a personal problem we experienced at the market and then also paid for us to take a taxi back to the kitchen because it was raining and I had no coat. The kitchen was very clean and organized and I would highly recommend this class!
We had such an amazing experience at this cooking class. From a tour of the market, to preparing food foods and learning about the history of them, to eating them family style all together. Maricio was a great chef and host!
It was the best adventure that we experienced in Cusco
This is a really cool thing to do in Cusco. You get a guided tour through the San Pedo Market, then you cook amazing food and make Pisco Sour. Do this a 100% when you are in Cusco.
We very much enjoyed our cooking class with Mauricio. He was super informative, patient and kind. Starting at the market it was great to have a tour round with local knowledge to hand. Back to the kitchen, the ceviche was our favourite dish, absolutely delicious. We hope to recreate at home. Soup and gnocchi also so good, all while drinking pisco sours. We were also sent photos and recipes for future use. All in all a great memorable experience.
I wholeheartedly recommend it!! It was an amazing experience - the tour of the market, all the explanations provided by Mauricio and the hands on approach re the cooking. Food was delicious too, and there were a lot of dishes. So better to go on empty stomach! :) Thank you, Mauricio!!! Gracias por todo!
Dael was engaging as a host of our cooking experience. The event was set up so well. We had some time in the market and then plenty of time to prepare the different courses back at a beautiful private cooking and dining area. Our family of 7 all loved it - kids, young adults, and adults. Highly recommend as a family activity in Cusco!
We started the class with a tour of San Pedro Market. After the tour, we made a Pisco Sour and four different Peruvian dishes. Mauricio was an excellent chef and we enjoyed our class. The food was delicious. We highly recommend it to all!!!
This was a very fun experience! We met at San Pedro Market and followed the chef as he selected some fruits and explained what they were, we also tried some cheese and other samples. Later we walked about 3 blocks to a nice building where we prepared a few dishes, such as appetizers, and a few versions of ceviche. It was hands on and very fun. It’s a small group experience and we also enjoyed interacting with other guests. There was a lot of food and we were full at the end.
Wonderful experience! Nice tour of the market to start, delightful cooking class. Very approachable, personable chef made this experience wonderful for our family. Great variety of dishes and techniques. Lovely discussion about Peruvian culinary traditions and modern Peruvian culture. This was our last activity after a delightful trip and was really the cherry on top!
Family of 4. Had a great cooking experience and visit to the market. Made use of so many local ingredients.
Well worth the time! Thank you, Dael.
I was so lucky in that I was the only participant for the cooking class th st day. mauricio, of course, gave me extra attention as this was basically like a private cooking lesson. Thank you so much!
Mauricio Martinez the head chef ran a wonderful experience. We started at the San Pedro Market where Mauricio explained all the different types of food available and then he procured all the ingredients for the evening. We started by making Pisco Sours to get us in the mood for cooking. It was well-paced and we all enjoyed all the courses we made. An absolute must-do is visiting Cusco.
What a wonderful culinary experience with Mauricio. The walk through the market was very informative and educational on the different fruits, vegetables and seaweed that we don’t get back home. Then the fun began in the kitchen. Mauricio lead us through each recipe and we then eat our personal creations. One of our highlights of our visit in Cusco
