This was such a highlight for me! I had such a great time, the guide was hilarious and informative, and the experience was amazing. I highly recommend.
We had a great experience at the chocolate workshop with our guide Ana. It was very informative and fun, and we got to create our own chocolate bars and taste lots of cool cocoa-based drinks and snacks. We highly recommend this place!
We did this class because we had nothing to do. Honestly it was a weird class and there’s so much more to do in Cusco so unless you are extremely bored I wouldn’t do this. The class is at the museum which is free so maybe just a visit to the museum would be good to learn about perus chocolate industry.
This was a fun workshop learning about all the stages of chocolate making. I liked how interactive it was, and I left having eaten so much chocolate and learned a few things. It wasn’t super cheap compared to some other experiences, but I’d still recommend.
What a fun workshop. One of my favorite things I did while in Cusco.
Such a fun workshop! Small group, very interesting, lovely teacher and we ended up with chocolate! Great value for money and a good escape from the midday sun.
I love chocolate so this was a must. Really fine way to spend an afternoon learning about quality, process, and history.
We had a lot of fun learning about making chocolate and where they come from. We tasted things along the way and learned a little history behind Cacao beans in Cusco. And at the end, we also got to make some to take back with us. I made a reservation but it’s probably not necessary (I’m just a planner), as there were several spots a day. There is also a little chocolate shop you can buy chocolate from and you can watch them make chocolate in the little factory they have there.
This was so much fun and we learned so much! Would highly recommend to anyone in Cusco. I have done chocolate making classes and other cities and I have never had the opportunity to literally start from roasting and go through the whole process
I highly recommend this outing. The instructor was friendly and knowledgeable and accommodating. We started on time but late-comers were welcomed. We also finished on time, making it easier for me to get to the airport! The chocolate we made was delicious, my friend said it was the best she had ever tasted!
Such a fun way to learn about the chocolate making process. Fun for all ages and a great activity to do when adjusting to the altitude in Cusco. Gino was our host for the event and he was very knowledgeable and fun. His English is excellent too!
The whole experience was definitely worth it. This is was one of the things we did in Cusco and my friends and I had a lot of fun. The fee was only $35 USD per person and it was worth our money. The 2 hour class was worth our time.
Anna did an amazing job engaging the group and keeping us entertained. We learnt a lot about the process of extracting and processing chocolate. We also got to have lots of chocolate and make our own chocolate to bring home, which was a ton of fun! Really family friendly.
Paula was fantastic teacher. Class was actually educational and very fun.
Fun and very informative. Lovely to spend time learning about the process and making our own chocolate.
Company was great & communicative (WhatsApp). Had to change my date & time multiple times (due to other tours) & they accommodated each time! I was even 10m late to class, & they still let me in. Their location change still provided for a wonderful atmosphere. Cusco’s chocolate is next level! Our guide, Luis, was great. He did so much on his own; it was more of a lot of watching and listening. I think it would be better if he either had an assistant or if the participants were more involved. For example, instead of watching him do all the prep work or cleanup, the tasks could be divided between the participants. It will make it: 1. more interactive and 2. less work for Luis/one person! He did need to use an app for his limited English. Fortunately, we had a wonderful attendant who spoke Spanish fluently & so kindly translated more complex questions when needed. Def worth the money. You’re basically paying for the bag of chocolate you made that you get to take home & the experience of learning & meeting other great people in the process :)
This was a really cool experience. It was informative and fun, and you get to eat chocolate. What’s not to enjoy??
My husband and I have done quite a few chocolate museum and workshops in our travels (Im a chocolate finatic) and this one is one of our favorites! It is extremely interactive and we discovered a new found love for cocao bean shell tea! Our guide was amazing and we got take home our own handmade chocolate.
Learned a lot about the process of making chocolate. Got to participate in all different stages. Our instructor was great and the chocolate was delicious.
Great experience. I learned and I are what more could you ask for in this day and time. The instructor was engaging and patient.
Fantastic and informative experience, well worth the time. Had a lot of fun with the teacher and fellow travelers! Make sure you look at the accurate location-it’s at the store location heading up to San Blas, not near the main town square.
It was a nice class but a bit confusing at the beginning from the receptionist. It's not easy grinding chocolate beans, but i had a great time. It's not something that I would do again though..
I love chocolate but didn’t know much about it. This class was informative, hands on and hilarious! Our group and instructor were so much fun. It was a blast and is highly recommended.
This class was very educational. Had alot if fun learning and tasting different chocolates. You can also buy some great chocolate here
If you love chocolate this is the experience for you. Learning the process of making chocolate and then getting to create your own unique chocolate bars.
We took an evening class in making chocolate that was booked for us by our tour company. There were approximately 12 people in our class, so it was a little crowded. The instructor was very informative and took us through the various steps from roasting the beans to grinding them with a mortar and pestle and making hot chocolate. He let us try various types of chocolates and then gave us some melted chocolate to pour into molds and add flavorings if desired. The class lasted approximately 2.5-3 hours. Our only minor criticism is that even though everyone used hand sanitizer at the beginning of the class, it was a lot of peoples hands involved in the process and maybe not the best choice if you are a germophobe.
Took our class with Benjamin who was lovely. It was a lot of fun learning about chocolate from bean to bar. Favorite fun fact was learning about white chocolate and understanding why it tastes so much better when it has cocoa butter instead of vegetable oil but my favorite part of the whole experience was getting to make my own chocolate. Would definitely recommend this to other travelers who are looking for a fun activity in Cusco!
In our three days of acclimation in Cusco prior to the Inca Trail Trek with Alpaca Expeditions we chose to stay low key and just explore the town of Cusco. My favorite experience there was the ChocoMuseo chocolate class. Antonio was a passionate, knowledgeable and fun teacher. I would highly recommend requesting him. We spent two hours learning about chocolate, touching, tasting, and making chocolate. The time went by fast, we learned a lot, had a lot of fun, and ate some yummy chocolate. I brought mine home for the family to try. They were booked on their website but I was able to get the time I wanted on Viator for only a few dollars more. It was well worth the money and time.
Great experience..Learned alot.. Tasted alot..Had alot of fun.. And made delicious chocolate treats for the road..
We absolutely loved this experience! It was so much fun and interesting as well. The person leading the workshop was so great and made it such a cool experience. We were so engrossed the whole time. The chocolate is also really delicious and great quality! Highly recommend doing this workshop while in Cusco!!
Our group of 12 had a great time! It was fun to learn about and participate in the chocolate making process.
It's a very fun hands on experience. You learn the chocolate making process from start to finish and go home with some very delicious chocolates. Our instructor Antonio was very charming and our whole group enjoyed the experience.
It was a great experience. The guide was very funny, and explained so well the history of each step in the process. He walked us through the whole process of chocolate making with commentary at each step. It was definitely worth the price.
If you like chocolate, you'll love this. You'll roast cacao beans, grind them into a paste, try some Mayan and Spanish chocolate drinks and cacao tea, and then you get to choose a mold and toppings for your chocolates. Our guide Ana gave us lots of information about the chocolate-making process with lots of opportunities for hands-on interaction. The museum itself is a bit small, just a few rooms with informational posters an a viewing area where you can see them hand-making chocolate, and you can also try chocolate fruit jams, cacao pisco, and chocolate from different regions. Oh, and you get to wear a little hat and an apron! So fun!
We had so much fun at the chocomuseo with Antonio. He was so informative and energetic. It was cool to be able to participate in every part of the process making, from selecting the beans, to roasting, to shelling the bean to grinding it into a paste. Very informative and super fun!!! We loved it.
Such a fun class! All of my 5 kids loved this- it was one of their favorite things we did in Cusco. We loved making our own Chocoltae start to finish
It was so much fun. I really enjoyed the class. We got there a little late but still accepted us. I recommend this class highly
Fun class! Started out with learning, then making chocolate beverages, and finally chocolate. Got to take it home. Fun interactive experience!
Mostly informational through a 8 step chocolate making process. Chairs are available but not for everyone.
It was a fun experience - we learned about the cocoa bean, and it was a hands on experience as we got to select our beans, roast them, grind them into paste, to make hot chocolate and tea. In the second half of the experience, we got to make our own chocolate and incorporate different ingredients.
Learned a lot about the harvesting of cocao beans and the production of chocolate in Peru and around the world. Chocolate making experience was top-notch with fun engaging activities sprinkled throughout.
The best few hours in Cusco! The class was small and the 'teacher' was knowledgeable and fun. Although one of the participants was hard to take he was able to make sure her attitude did not pull everyone down. We started with putting on chef hats and aprons and then the fun began. We picked out some plump beans, learned to talk to them and roast them. We made a paste and then found out more about how the chocolate beans became three different types of chocolate. Tasting began and the great times did not stop. After much decision making we made our own chocolate candy. While they sat and cooled in the refrigerator we made some hot chocolate tea and learned more. Leaving with our candy and new found knowledge made the day complete!
If you are visiting Cusco, this chocolate-making class is an absolute must! Our family had such a fantastic experience from start to finish. The class was engaging, interactive, and incredibly fun as we learned about the entire cacao process—from bean to bar. The team made the experience both educational and entertaining, and getting to create our own chocolates was such a memorable highlight. It was the perfect blend of culture, hands-on learning, and delicious fun. This was truly one of the highlights of our time in Cusco. Highly recommend for families, couples, or anyone looking for a unique and memorable experience while visiting the city!
This was THE most fun we have had in a long time. Our instructor was over the top funny. Very educational. A good event while adjusting to the altitude
Jeel was so funny and informative! Very interactive. Making our own chocolate to take home was so much fun. What a yummy experience! 😋 I would recommend this to anyone that loves to have a good time with hands on experience.
This was a very fun and relaxed experience! You learn about the full chocolate making process as described and in the end mold your own chocolate. Our teacher Miguel was fun and funny and answered all our questions. The space itself was very cool- there’s a shop and factory upstairs and a cute cafe and teaching area downstairs. It was a really nice way to spend an afternoon when you need a break from big excursions outside Cusco city.
Excellent presentation and participation. Very informative. Benjamin did a great job and speaks English very well.
The chocolate bean to bar activity was a lot of fun. We learned the process of making chocolate, do the process and got to try different chocolates. It was a great deal!
Beyond expectations. Fun guide. Learned how those crazy white mushy seeds from a cocoa pod turn into chocolate. Loved tasting the chocolate as we talked about it. Loved making my own chocolate bars! Just a blast! 45 min was perfect!
