An amazing 5 days of trekking definitely one of the harder treks I have completed but the beauty of the mountains made it all worth it! The team at Vidal were absolutely fantastic, our guides Urbano and Euden were extremely knowledgeable and gave us interesting facts all throughout the hike . Here we celebrated traditional Inca practices and learnt lots about their culture and traditions. The chef team lead by Andres was awesome such great variety of food considering the remoteness of the trek and small areas to prepare the food. I was extremely impressed with the quality throughout the whole trek. Special mention to Jose, Angel and Rodrigo, they were super friendly and always going above and beyond to help out when needed. The team at Vidal delivered a 5 day trek seamlessly and I couldn’t recommend them more highly.

I booked the Ausangate Trek with Vidal Expeditions and it turned out to be one of the highlights of my entire trip to Peru. From the first contact to the last day, everything was well organized, communication was clear and quick, and I always felt in good hands. The real heart of this experience was the team. Our guide Urbano was outstanding: knowledgeable, calm and attentive, he knew exactly when to push and when to slow down at high altitude, and shared so much about the mountains, the local communities and Andean culture. Edu, his assistant, was always there with a smile and a helping hand. The food was simply amazing. Andrés and his assistant Angel cooked incredible meals every day in the middle of nowhere at over 4,500 m. I still can't believe what they managed to create in a small kitchen tent! 🍲 A big thank you also to José and Rodrigo, our horse drivers, who took care of the horses and our luggage with so much dedication. Every evening the camp was ready and everything ran smoothly. The landscapes of Ausangate, with its glaciers, colorful mountains and turquoise lagoons, were breathtaking, but it was this wonderful team that made the trek truly special. I can highly recommend Vidal Expeditions to anyone looking for an authentic, well-organized and safe trekking experience. ☺️👍🏼
Urbano was a great guide and the food made by Enrique was incredible
The 5D Ausangate with rainbow mountain is the most beautiful trek I have ever been too. The scenery beats Kilimanjaro and my previous fav - EBC in Nepal. My frens and I would not have completed this trek without my capable guide Urbano from Vidal. Having done the Salkantay trek with another operator before Ausangate, I was able to compare the 2 diff guides and Urbano stands out for his professionalism and I could tell that he loves what he is doing. Urbano takes care of everyone of us and ensures that we walk at an appropriate pace with rest stop so that we will not be hit with AMS. He is knowledgeable and constantly share with us the history of Peru and about Ausangate (His English is excellent!!!). Along the way, Urbano spot many animals that many trekkers miss and point it out to us. He is also a professional photographer and took a lot of photos and video of us with his camera and drone. He knows the best spot! Also want to thank our chef Enrique who cook us a feast. Horse drivers Ángel, José, & Machula who always move ahead early every morning to ensures we get the best camping spot and that our tents are all set up before we arrive. Equipment provided by Vidal was top notch. We were each given a pillow, a foam mattress and even a fleece liner to ensure we sleep comfortably. There’s even a portable toilet set up for us at camps without public toilets. Besides the excellent weather. I feel very blessed to have chosen Vidal and have this capable team with us. I will not hesitate to book with Vidal expeditions again for my future treks. I love Peru!
We had such a wonderful and memorable experience on our hike, and we’re truly grateful to the entire team who took such great care of us along the way. Our guide, Urbano, was fantastic — very professional, caring, and knowledgeable. He shared so much about the Andean culture, traditions, and way of life, which made the journey much more meaningful. He was always looking out for us and made sure we were comfortable and doing well throughout the hike. A big thank you to our amazing chef, Enrique, who prepared such delicious meals for us every day. After hours of hiking, coming back to a warm and tasty meal was something we really looked forward to! His food definitely helped us recharge and recover. We’d also like to give a special mention to our horse drivers, Ángel, José, and Machula. They worked so hard behind the scenes to make sure everything was ready for us when we arrived at each campsite — from our tents to the toilets. We really appreciated their hard work and dedication. The weather was beautiful, the scenery was breathtaking, and most importantly, we had an incredible team taking care of us. We came away with wonderful memories and a much deeper appreciation for the Andes and its people. Thank you, Urbano, Enrique, Ángel, José, and Machula, for making this such a special experience. We truly appreciate everything you did for us! ❤️🏔️
The 5-day trek was challenging but incredibly rewarding. The entire team that supported me was absolutely fantastic. Our guide, Chino, had an excellent sense of when I needed a short break, when I was ready to pick up the pace, or when it was better to slow down. He also shared so much interesting information about the mountains, the local culture, and the surrounding area, making the experience even more special. The whole team was always smiling, incredibly kind, and happy to help whenever needed. They truly went above and beyond to make this an unforgettable adventure. I even managed to convince Chino to join me for a TikTok dance, which made the trip even more memorable!
We (my boyfriend and I) did the 5 day Ausangate trek, including a visit to the Rainbow Mountain on the third day. Our guide, Urbano, was experienced and could explain a lot about the nature, mountains and climbing routes along the way. He also paid close attention to everyone's acclimatization and gave the group many helpful tips on dealing with the altitude. Although there were differences in hiking pace within the group, Urbano managed the group exceptionally well, making sure everyone stayed together without the faster hikers feeling held back or the slower hikers feeling rushed. There were options to walk to some extra viewpoints after arriving at the camp as well. In this trip, you go together with a cook and some other people with horses. The cook was a really happy person and made delicious food for us. Together with the local people with the horses, they walked with us and had a lot of fun together. That was nice to see and made us happy as well. The landscape is really nice here. When we did the tour, there were not many other groups so there are moments you have the nature for yourself. Because we woke up at 3 pm on the third day, we arrived ad the rainbow mountain before the crowds and were the only group there. By the time all the quads and day hikers arrived, we already left on our way to the next place to put op the tents. For people considering this hike: make sure you are well acclimatized because this hike is mostly above 4500 meters.
We had a great experience on our 5-day Ausangate trek and would definitely recommend this company. William was an excellent guide. Not only did he lead us through the trek, but he also shared so much interesting information about Peru, its history, culture, and especially the Cusco region. You could really tell how knowledgeable and passionate he is. He was always friendly, helpful, and made sure everyone was comfortable, adapting to the group's pace when needed. Beni, our cook, was amazing. The food was honestly much better than we expected for a mountain trek. Every meal was different, delicious, and prepared with a lot of care. We were always looking forward to mealtimes! Ángel was also fantastic. He was always quick to set up the tents and get everything ready for the group. He worked incredibly hard and was always attentive and willing to help. Overall, the whole team made the experience really enjoyable. Everything was well organized, we felt well looked after throughout the trek, and the atmosphere was great from start to finish. Thanks to William, Beni, and Ángel for making it such a memorable trip!
An amazing 5 days hiking around Ausangate. It was a tough trek but worth it for the amazing views and experience. We were taken super good care of by our fantastic guide Urbano and our chef and horsemen. 10/10 would recommend and hope to do it again!
Me and three of my friends (all 21/22 yr old girls) completed the 2 day/1 night ausangate trek this past week. It was just the 4 of us and we didnt really see many others on the hike besides in a few veiwpoints. It was absolutely amazing. We are all athletes and were definitely humbled. It was a tough hike and altitude sickness is no joke. Definitely take the time to acclimatize all the way. Our guide, Urbano, made the atmosphere comforting from the start. Through the sickness and struggle of the hike, he always made us feel like we were going to be okay. He was constantly checking in on our symptoms and adjusted the pace and trail if needed. His energy made the trek even more fun, whether just joking around or singing songs to us when it was tough. Urbanos' passion showed through as he told us all about the mountains and the hikes in the Andes, and even hikes he had completed or wishes to complete in other countries. He was great at explaining Inca Peru's history, and he had answers for every single random question our group had. The admission fee is definitely worth it! The meals were also delicious !!!
I could not recommend this trek enough! The views were stunning throughout, the route was well planned, and it was not too crowded. Our guide, Urbano, was so knowledgeable and so friendly! He ensured everyone was comfortable even at the very high altitudes and inspired a lot of confidence. We also had William, a guide-in- training who led us along the way and was loved by the whole group. The food was amazing, I have never eaten so well when camping - thank you Chef Jorge! Mario and Angel were incredible as well, setting up our tents, cleaning up the camp and running ahead on the route to help make us lunch every day. Amazing value for the price and an awesome company that is supporting the local communities in which it operates. 12/10!!!
A fantastic trip! Food was amazing and the entire team made it so comfortable. 10/10
Despite temperamental weather patterns had such an excellent trip with Vidal. The team were all very accommodating. Hats off to the chef who made the best food! Even a cake on the last day! the trek is beautiful and despite some early morning wake ups it was well worth it.
I recently completed the 5-day Ausangate Trek with Vidal Expeditions, and it was an experience I will never forget. It was a true test of spirit, supported by a hardworking team. The Highlights: • I cannot praise Chef Beni enough. He fed us lavishly by preparing fancy meals like pizza, pasta, fresh salads, and even a celebratory cake on the last day while in the middle of a remote wilderness. Every meal was a highlight. • Our team was guide Urbano, chef Beni, and helpers Marlo and Angel , all were incredibly friendly and professional. The logistics were seamless, with great communication during our prehike briefing and a prompt hotel pickup in Cusco. • Urbano was very knowledgeable and experienced. He kept sharing the history and culture of the region and captured photos of us. While the trip was spectacular, there were a few challenges that future trekkers might want to keep in mind: • I was the slowest in my group of 3 and while I appreciated Urbano’s patience, there was some pressure to use the horse on uphill sections to stay on schedule on a longer day. Since there weren't specific pace requirements or "cutoff times" discussed prior to the trip, I found it difficult to balance my personal goal of hiking the full trail with the guide's need to move quickly. I would have appreciated a clearer discussion on timing expectations before the trek began. • Another thing to note is that the link to the professional photos taken by the guide is only shared after a review is published. It will be nice to have those memories shared regardless of the review process. :) Overall- This trip was a physically demanding but deeply rewarding journey through some of the most beautiful terrain I have ever seen. Despite the bad weather, the trip was a success. Thank you to Vidal Expeditions for a safe and memorable journey! Gear Tip: Have 2 sets of Trail Hiking Shoes - 1 breathable , the other waterproof. My breathable trail runners were great for drying, but tough during the heavy hail and deep puddles.
Where to begin? A fabulous trek with an incredible team. There were two of us, and we were pampered by the Vidal Expedition team. Ansangate is a captivating mountain, and it must be experienced with people who reveal its spirituality to you. Every day we went from glacier to glacier, from color to color, from discovery to experience. The expedition was very comfortable with top-notch equipment transported by our horse driver Angel. We ate more than enough thanks to our cook Beni and our assistant cook Euden, and we were expertly guided by our guide Chino. Thank you all for your good humor and smiles, thank you for all these memories that will forever be in our hearts. This mountain has changed us; there are places and mountains where you leave a little piece of yourself.
An epic 5 days completing the Ausengate + Raimbow Mountain Trek with the Vidal Expedition crew (Chino, Begnino, Jośe, Angel). The scenery was amazing, super friendly and knowledgable team, yummy good, and lots of fun! Would highly highly recommend!! Thanks so much for such a cool experience :)
Great experience! We did the 5 day/4 night Ausangate trek with rainbow mountain excursion. I found the trek difficult, but manageable. Our guide Urbano (Chino) was excellent, and very encouraging and knowledgeable about the area. The whole team was great, our chef Benigno was amazing. The others Angel and José were kind and always very efficient and fast at their set up. Everything went very smoothly. Would definitely recommend and travel with Vidal Expeditions again!
Thank you Chino and your team - Benigno, Angel and José for creating such a great experience on the 5 day Ausangate Trek. We had the best time, the scenery was amazing, we really enjoyed all the great food and appreciated all the great stories and your extensive knowledge of the area! Highly recommend Vidal Expeditions, the best time with such a good crew of people! Thanks from NZ 🇳🇿
I had an amazing experience on my 5 day Ausangate Trek with Vidal Expeditions, our guide Guillermo, and the entire crew. From start to finish the entire team was extremely professional and provided an unforgettable experience. Guillermo did a great job of guiding us through incredible landscapes and weaving in cultural knowledge and stories. I felt like I came away with a better understanding of how the people have lived here for hundreds of years and some of the traditions they follow and live by. The trek itself was just stunning and the entire time you felt isolated and far away from everything. We very rarely saw another group. The views of Ausangate and the surrounding landscapes will be etched in my mind forever, no doubt! Thanks again for a great life experience. I look forward to the next trek!
The tour was incredible. It was very well put together and organized and I had been in touch before arriving to Peru. Everything was on time, as promised and Guillermo was a great guide! Would highly recommend.
Guillermo, our guide was amazing. He knew everything about the area and took us places that no other group goes. He also had so much knowledge about the local culture. The food was also amazing and the views were incredible everyday. Everything with Vidal went smoothly. Highly recommend!
We were incredibly well looked-after by Vidal Expeditions Team on our five-day Ausangate Trek. Our guide, Guillermo, was generous in sharing his vast knowledge of the area, its wildlife, and the local culture. Guillermo was also very good company on the trek and we enjoyed spending time with him. Our chef, Benigno, was an absolute marvel, producing a wide variety of delicious food three times a day from his camp kitchen. We will miss his food and his laugh, which was infectious. Angel, the horseman, looked after our gear so well, and worked really hard putting up/taking down tents, and helping Benigno with all the camping chores. We were also grateful for the good gear that was provided, and to Vidal for running the trek for just the two of us. We have backpacked through the Himalaya and did find the Ausangate area could be just as cold as there in the evenings and overnight, so we recommend taking the warmest mountain gear you can muster. The rewards in seeing the Andean mountains and culture up close are phenomenal and I highly recommend Vidal Expeditions for any trip you'd like to do whilst in beautiful Peru. The Ausangate Trek we did was also amazingly empty of other trekkers, which is becoming a rare thing for such a well-known route, and which we thoroughly enjoyed. Vidal Expeditions totally exceeded our expectations, professional and caring. I did a lot of research before choosing Vidal Expeditions, and we are thrilled to have made the right choice:). Thank you to all the team!
I had an amazing experience with this company. Very professional, excellent guide and delicious food. They are very helpful and reliable. I would go for them again anytime.
We booked our trek through Vidal Expeditions kind of last minute, and they seriously came through. From the jump, the communication was clear and easy. They got everything organized quickly without sacrificing quality or safety—which, let’s be honest, is impressive when you're heading into the mountains of Peru. The whole experience felt incredibly well-run. You could tell these guys are pros. Everything was safe, well-structured, and thoughtfully put together. The food? Insanely good. Way beyond what I expected on a trek. Every meal was hot, fresh, and hit the spot after a long day on the trail. Big props to the chef and team for keeping us well-fed and happy. Our guide, Urbano, was one of the best parts of the trip. Not only was he super knowledgeable about the local culture, the terrain, and the wildlife—we also learned a ton just from chatting with him along the way. You could feel how much he cared about the experience. He also had a great eye for photography and took some incredible shots for us throughout the trek, which was an awesome bonus. The rest of the crew was just as great—supportive, upbeat, and made the whole journey feel like an adventure with good friends rather than a tour. You can tell this company cares deeply about what they do and goes out of their way to make sure guests are comfortable and well taken care of. This was my first time trekking in Peru, and I can confidently say I’ll be using Vidal Expeditions again when I come back. Genuinely grateful for the experience they gave us. If you’re thinking about booking with them—do it. You won’t regret it!
The guided Trek in Ausangate was just amazing in all aspects. Started with a reliable and easy communication before the Trek, perfect and delicious food for every meal and unique insights and information about the local mountain lifestyle, Peruvian culture and flora&fauna. The provided equipment was in hood condition and kept me warm and dry in all conditions. Also the guiding itself was perfect. Definitely recommend to go with Vidal Expeditions!
Great guide, friendly staff, incredible experience, stunning views, delicious food! Couldn’t be better. Would do it again.
We recently did the Ausangate trek in Peru with Vidal expeditions. They took real care of us before, during, after the journey. We had friends with dietary restrictions and were well accommodated. Highly recommend Vidal and his team. They know the area very well and guided us based on our experience and interest. Very friendly and will go to lengths to make it a success for his customers.
The 5 day Ausangate Trek with guide Chino was absolutely incredible. I am so glad I booked Vidal Expeditions for this trip, it would have been extremely difficult doing solo. Chino was an amazing guide, he supported our group and catered our trip based off our wants (adding rainbow mountain, duration of hikes). The scenery was breathtaking the whole way and the accommodations/food were excellent. Leo, Rosa, and Miguel worked tremendously hard each day to provide us the best experience. Miguel's cooking was the best I've had in Peru! I will 100% book through Vidal Expeditions in the future, they made my trip extremely memorable!
I 1000% recommend booking with VE for any tours around Cusco area. I booked the 5 day Ausangate trek and it was 5 star service from start to finish. Chino was an amazing guide, Miguel an amazing chef and the lovely couple or horseman/horsewoman Leo and Rosa were the most hardworking people I have ever met. I thought of doing this trek on my own and I am so glad I decided to go with this guided tour. The altitude hits everyone differently and having a guide there to monitor your symptoms is a peace of mind that has no price. Thank you for an amazing trek, I will gladly book again on my next trip to Peru!
I am a solo traveler woman looking for adventure and prioritising safety. Vidal offered me not only safety but also a lot of learning (adventure is guaranteed). I had the opportunity to meet Urbano and if you want to have conversations about culture, science and geography I recommend him. If I had to choose an agency in Peru it would always be Vidal 🩵. Ps. They made me a birthday cake in the mountains and I will never forget it. ✨
This was an amazing trip! The scenery was fantastic and every pass brought new views better than the last. Vidal expeditions was amazing. Our guide was Johannes, we was extremely knowledgeable about the local area, plants and animals. Vidal expeditions also cooked us amazing food for each meal! We were never left feeling hungry after a meal. I would recommend a minimum of 3 days in Cusco to acclimate first. We spent only a day and a half in Cusco and found the first night hard to sleep.
It was an amazing trip and well organised/executed. The food was amazing, Urbano was a great guide and the pre trip communication and organisation was top notch. 100% recommend.
We had a great time exploring Ausangate and Rainbow Mountain with Urbano. It was four incredible days with great service from the start until the drop-off. The hike is quite challenging due to the fact that we had to climb a few times over 5,000 meters in cold weather. However, with Urbano as our guide, we were very motivated to complete the whole circuit. We were a group of three people from different nationalities, and Urbano managed to be a family. We also had two other local friends (Angel and Miguel) who came with us to organize everything we got on this trip. We were worried about the weather conditions due to January is part of it, and we're very lucky to have incredible days even with little rain in the evening. The food was awesome; our chef prepared a variety of food every day, and they also provided warm water every morning and afternoon. They set up all our camping gear every day. Urbano took stunning photos and told us great histories during these four days, took care of us every moment, and had useful information about the area.We recommend preparing very well for this trek and taking time to acclimatize well in Cusco before heading for this tour. Drink plenty of water and do some exercises, but the views are without a doubt worth it.
Hi Vidal. Here is a message to tell you how much we enjoyed the Ausangate trek. Binerson was great. Same with Angel and Mario, and Andres was fabulous. This man is a gem so nice and a great chef. You met 100% of our expectations. I would recommend your agency to anyone wanting to experience the majestic beauty of that region. Please tell your team how much we had a good time with them Thanks so much Yves
We went with Vidal Expeditions on day trips and on the Ausangate trek. It's a well organized, affordable experience arranged by very efficient and knowledgeable staff. Their punctuality was out of the top drawer. As the customer, you were always put first and your safety was paramount. Due to circumstances, our program was graciously revised with great effort by Vidal. He was not put out by the inconvenience and we still managed to enjoy a full trek. Miguel, the chef, went out of his way to prepare meals with a difference. The support staff were very pleasant and fun. It is well worth engaging this company for a true Peruvian experience.
This was an adventure I will always remember. The entire journey was beautifully facilitated. From our super knowledgeable and helpful guide, Guido, to the horsemen and chefs; everyone was so attentive to the needs of group and ready to help out in any way. So impressed by their hard work and dedication to making this journey of a lifetime possible. The landscapes we traversed were absolutely stunning and we were completely immersed in the natural world out there, with minimal distractions from other groups or people in general. This is a powerful group of locals making this adventure that much more memorable with all of their valuable insights on the culture and way of life. Highly recommend booking with Vidal Expeditions and seeing if you can get Guido as your Guide 🙌🏽 Aloha, ZoPa
This trek was one of the most challenging yet equally rewarding and beautiful experiences of my life. What a privilege to hike through the Andes with locals, learn Quechua language, prayers, traditions and stories and breathe in the magic of Apu Ausangate. I was so impressed with our guide, Guido, and the team of horsemen and chefs. The horsemen and chefs did the same trek as us PLUS set up/broke down our camping gear and made us three meals a day. I am so grateful for Vidal Expeditions and highly recommend this local company!
We went for this huge adventure for my 30th birthday and it was everything I could have dreamed of. The local Peruvians who guided us were so kind, gracious, and willing to teach us all about their precious culture. Our guide Gido was the best guide we have ever had for any adventure, and overall this was a stellar experience. The food the cooks made every day and night was amazing. Thank you infinitely, and we will most likely do this adventure again in a few years!
I did the Ausangate 5 day trek and absolutely loved it! Five stars to all the staff, our guide Vinerson that was very considerate and thoughtful and the arrilleros Leonidas and Diego and cocinero Miguel that did an awesome job, with the best service and delicious food. Highly recommend. Beautiful views of the mountain
We have hiked around Ausangate for about 5 Days with the guide Jose Antonio, it was a challenging trek in the high Andes. We had a veried of weather with some rainy afternoons and sunny during the hike. Personally I really like the hike and I can highly recommend Vidal Expeditions as your tour operato, the cook Miguel made incredible food, they took well care of me and were flexible to adapt the itinerary when at the beginning I experienced some altitude sickness. Very patient and professional. Feel free to contact them to have a lifetime experience in the Andes.
We have done the 4-day Ausangate Trek connecting to Rainbow Mountain. This was a truly once -in- a -lifetime experience hiking in the high mountains with breathtaking views and great trekking team. We arranged a tour with Vidal Expeditions a few weeks before our flight to Peru. They answered all our questions and made it clear what to expect along the hike. The booking system was quick as well, and after a few emails, we completed it. Vidal, the owner provide us with every detail of what to bring and how to prepare, honestly it helped us a lot to improve our perfomance and get enought days to acclimate to the altitude. A night before our trip, Chino the guide came to our hotel to provide us with the briefing and give us the entire information for this adventure. Once we have done with it we had a plan for the entire four-day hiking on the mountains. We are not used to hiking at such altitudes , but we have done many treks before to get used to it. The hike itself is awesome with the visit of some lakes, glaciers and lot of fun histories of Chino. We couldn't have asked for a better tour guide and his team, who did an excellent job while we were hiking. They set up the tents every day and prepare wonderul meals for us, even making a cake at the high altitude away from the kitchen tools that we are used to. They woke us up every morning with a hot tea and their best smile, which motivated us to keep going along the pathway. Chino and Miguel were super heroes and very friendly with us. We had such nice vews of different alpine lakes, which was one of the highlights during the Ausangate Trek. After having spent 3 incredible days, we reached the colored mountain, nowadays known as the Rainbow Mountain, we arrive early there and have the chance to see the sunrise early in the morning, even in this season whcih seems to be raining. The Rainbow Mountain was empty only for us, we have enough time to explore and enjoy the beautiful views around. Honestly, the trip was the best experience for us in Peru with stunning spots where you can feel connected with yourself and the mountains. We definitely recommend Vidal Expeditions, Chino and his team for this trek in Cusco.
On the last week we did the five days Ausangate trek with Vidal Expeditions, this was such a nice experience hiking in the Andes, it was challenging but worth it. We contacted to Vidal Expeditions a few weeks before traveling to Peru and Vidal the owner was very kind replying our emails. The team who been with us during the trek were fabulous, very professional from the begining to end, the service that we got was more that we expected (food, camping gears and the team). We had sun a nice time with them, and the landscapes are gorgeous , lakes, mountains and a lot of Alpacas. Go with them, you will have a fav experience.
Lovely hike around the Ausangate mountain! I had chance to trek 3 days with Vidal Expeditions team through this beautiful Peruavian Andes, our guide was Chino who did a great job leading us all these 3 days, specially on the second day which was the toughest one reaching over 5,000 meters. Overall Vidal Expeditions team made a excellent job organizing whole trip(food, equipment, team, tickets) they were kind people who help us to complete this trek. We will definitely recommend them for the future tours!
We did the four-day trek aroun Ausangate ending up in the Rainbow Mountain, is was one of the best experience during our journey in whole South America, it wasa group of 4 people with varying of levels experience. The hike was challenging but the sights and accommodations were absolutely worth it. I was blown away how our guide Ghino seemed to be on friendly terms with every single person we came across. He made a great example of how Ausangate Trek seeks to connect with and give back to the communities we passed through and he was just a lot of fun. I also want to give a shout out to Miguel and Angel because the food was amazing. Overall just a great experience. Highly recommend
What a great time hinking around Apu Ausangate! My friend and me went with Chino to hike around Ausangate mountain and had fab days. Chino was incredible tour guide teaching us the culture of different communities that we visit along the hike. His knowlodge about the flora and fauna on the area was amazing, very patient guide and professional, he look after us every time, specially on the difficult climb. The hike itself was challenging, however the views are stunning each corner has such amazing sceneries, lakes, valleys, glaciers, and Alpacas. We recommend to spend a few days in Cusco before to hike on this trek due the altitude. The food and whole camping equipment were excellent, we always got 3 meals which was great for the trek. Tents and matts were in good conditions and clean. The whole team were amazing they always smiling and motivating you to keep going, especially on the day 4. Honestly these people are the best, if you are planing to hike the Ausangate go with them, I am sure you will get fab days and ask for Chino for your tour guide. I definitely will recommend Vidal Expeditions even more when they are supporting the local communities around this area.
We did the amazing 4D/3N trek to Ausangate and end in the Rainbow Mountain with our guide Francisco and the incredible chef Miguel. Overall, th hike was the most beautiful hike we have ever done before, despite actually being phusically challenging with the elevation. The view of the glacier pared with blue lagoons was just stunning, walking up in the mountains in the morning was phenomenal experience what help me to understand about this beautiful country and thier culture. Our chef Miguel prepared such amazng food everyday and it was incredible to believe they made these in this remote are where they don't have access to the energy. The guacamole of the first lunch was the best food we have ever tried so yummy. Francisco made sure that we were feeling really well during this hike and honestly appreciate what he did for us. We end this tour at the Rainbow mountain reaching there early morning before the crowds arrive. I highlight recommend Vidal Expeditions and Francisco for this tour.
Marvelus trek in the Peruvian Andes, we hire the service of Vidal Expeditions to hike around the Ausangate mountain, it took 5 days climbing from 4,300 to 5,200 meters, honestly it is very challenging trek however it is worth! The views are unbelievable, lakes, valleys, glaciers a many snow mountains, Lamas and Alpacas everywhere makes it unreal place. Overall, the hike was the most beautiful hike we have ever done before, despite actually being physically challenging with the altitude. The view of the glacier pared with blue lagoons was just stunning. Waking up in the mountains in the morning was an unforgettable experience. Even though being vegetarian we were served yummy food with freshly prepared meals 3 times a day! Jose made sure that we were doing well at all the times and led us through the whole experience amazingly.
I did the Ausangate 4 day trek ending with Rainbow Mountain on the last day. The trek was very well organized with all the tour guides (Vinerson, Julián & Chino) and the rest of the team being extremely helpful and supportive throughout the entire experience. All of the guides were very knowledgeable about the mountains and shared many interesting stories. We all felt very well looked after and our questions were always answered fully. I would highly recommend Vidal Expeditions for any trekking experience in Peru, they have a huge amount to offer and I would encourage anyone to take part in one of their expeditions.
Chino was FANTASTIC!! So passionate about the culture and a wonderful storyteller. This was the highlight of our trip to Peru. It is a challenging trek but Chino always was patient and cared for those of us who were slower...reminding us just to take it slow and steady. The view along the path are spectacular but the journey with Vidal Expeditions made it memorable. I would recommend them to all my friends and family.
What an unforgetable experience I had the Ausangate trek thanks to Vidal Expeditions! I can't recommend them enough. I got sick the night before leaving and our guide Urbano stayed at the back with me to make sure I was comfortable the entire time. He literally went the extra mile, walking all the way back to the car on the 3rd night and making it back for 5am the next morning because I had left something there. Most of all, I love how genuinely kind and respectful he was to everyone and everything we crossed. As for technicals, all boxes were checked. The food (veg option for me) was delicious and plenty at every meal, organisation and communication were seamless from beginning to end, our guide was obviously knowledgeable and fluent in English-Spanish-Quechua, local horse drivers were employed and equipment was clean and weather-adequate. The reason I chose VE is because they're the only ones doing the Ausangate trail clockwise (not the classical route), so you're less likely to run into other groups, and ending with Rainbow Mountain. Also, their prices are fair/mid-range. If you're looking for a company to do this multi-day trek in unspoiled nature, look no further.
