We stayed at Sky Dome Peru and did this tour during our stay - both the stay and the tour were absolutely incredible! I cannot recommend this experience enough! Our guide Cidelia was so kind and knowledgeable about the history of the location and local plants and wildlife. We were able to explore the Inca ruins with Cidelia's herd of very friendly llamas and alpacas and were the only people at the site - it was gorgeous and incredibly peaceful. Being able to experience the ruins without any crowds was amazing (especially compared to the more popular ruins such as in Ollantaytambo or Pisac) and the stories and information shared by Cidelia made the experience absolutely unforgettable. This was hands-down my favorite tour that I have done while in Peru so far!

Itinerary
Machuqolqa is an Inca archaeological site located in the heart of Peru Cusco. It is renowned for its impressive colcas, stone storage structures used to preserve grains, showcasing the advanced engineering and economic organization of the Inca Empire. Perched strategically on a natural elevation, Machuqolqa offers panoramic views of the valley and surrounding mountains, enabling visual and logistical control over the region. This center played a vital role in securing food supplies for the Inca population, reflecting their sophisticated storage and distribution systems. Machuqolqa is characterized by its robust and functional architecture, harmoniously integrated into the Andean landscape, making it a key site for understanding Inca agricultural and social management. Less frequented than other Sacred Valley sites, Machuqolqa retains an authentic and tranquil atmosphere, perfect for visitors seeking a profound cultural experience and direct connection with Peru’s living history.
Chinchero is a picturesque Andean village located in Peru's Sacred Valley of the Incas, about 30 kilometers from Cusco. Known for its strong Inca and colonial heritage, it features ancient agricultural terraces, a 17th-century church built atop Inca foundations, and a vibrant textile tradition preserved by Quechua communities. Sitting at over 3,700 meters above sea level, it offers stunning views of the Andes and maintains a deep sense of authenticity through its Sunday market, ancestral customs, and the continued use of the Quechua language.

We stayed at the sky dome accommodation and booked the tour from there and the entire experience was incredible. It was by far the best accommodation we stayed in for our entire Peru holiday. The little touches made all the difference. Ten staff were so friendly and helpful. The views were incredible and the alpaca walk was better than anticipated. We booked it for the animal experience not realising how cool the ruins and view would be. Our guides were delightful. I couldn’t recommend the whole experience enough!
We stayed at Sky Dome and it was utterly spectacular. The views from our beautiful room were incredible and the alpaca walk the next morning was amazing. Our hosts were also super lovely. I can't recommend this highly enough. If you're going to the Sacred Valley you must stay here AND do the alpaca walk in the morning
The most beautiful walk with great guides and alpacas. Don’t miss this!
This was the highlight of our Cusco trip! We had a private tour - and got to walk cute alpacas & llamas through historical inca ruins. There was nobody else except us so it felt very unique. The views were absolutely gorgeous. Glacier mountains in the background, the sacred valley under our feet. We came with 5 people and each got our own alpaca / llama to walk with. Every alpaca had their own personality too! They also had a dog called brownie (looks like a mini golden) that followed us the whole time and was adorable. Our guide was also the best. Absolutely 10/10. His english was great, he was very knowledgeable about all the history, and he was super funny.
This was literally the best part of our trip. From the incredible room we had with the stunning view to the alpacas walk to the ancient ruins, I can only recommend this tour. This is definitely worth the trip and the place and the people deserve to be known. Cidelia & Joel: we are so grateful for your hospitality, the passion you had in explaining the history of this place, thank you so much. The place is isolated and still very close to chincheros (5min drive), so it’s perfect to avoid the noise of the city and relax. Joel will help you organise your trip (from the taxis to the tours). Everything was perfect.
Sky Dome Peru is a very beautiful and special place. I can really only describe my time there as magical. Yoel and Cidelia are wonderful hosts. The domes are comfy (I stayed in the Inti Suite) and the views of the Andes mountains are unmatched. The food is also delicious!! Also, the Alpaca/Llama walk was SO fun. If you travel to Peru you MUST stay at Sky Dome Peru! You won’t regret it!! Thank you again for an AMAZING stay! <3
This place is heaven on earth , where you touch you soul with amazing scenery that change by the hours , amazing staff , friendly , helpful that go out of the way . Simplicity to the core . You literally feel above the clouds .
This was one of the highlights of our trip to Peru. Not only are you really experiencing life with a family, their traditions, and unique ways, they are warm, friendly and such great hosts. I would recommend this place, 10 times out of 10. They even have an oxygen tank on sight so if you're feeling altitude sickness like I was, it helped immediately to feel better. We loved their animals and we loved them so much!
One of the highlights of our Peru holiday. So tranquil and close to nature. We loved walking Inti, the alpaca, Brownie, the dog and Maro and Wayra, the llamas. They were the perfect walking companions along with Cidelia, who is the owner of Sky dome. We were enthralled by her stories, accompanied by the epic views of the sacred valley and Machu qolqa ruins. Almost felt like we were immersed in the culture and landscape with no crowds around. Treasured memories for sure!
Very good experience, Cidelia was very nice and explained many things. The landscape are very beautiful and being almost alone is a big plus
This trip was an amazing experience starting from pick up to drop off. We were picked up in Cusco from our hotel and it is a little over an hours drive to Sky Dome. My room was Killen. The toilet was just outside the door to my bedroom. The sun poured in during the day creating a very warm room and it was cold at night as there is no heating but the blankets are sufficient. The views are fabulous and it is quiet and peaceful . Bird watching was great and the family dogs were entertaining. Meals were in the dining room and were excellent. We opted to take the Maras Moray tour which started with walking their llamas to an Incan/preIncan ruin and sharing a Qechua ceremony onsite. There was no one else there. Cedelia returned the llamas to the farm and a driver picked us up to see the Maras salt terraces and Moray terraces guided by Joel. All completely worth seeing. It felt like a homestay with the family. Our tour included chicha and chocolate tasting! When we returned to Cusco, the driver dropped us off at the San Pedro market and waited for us to shop then took us to the airport. I cannot recommend this stay highly enough for the rooms, view, peace and Peruvian family warmth.
We absolutely Loved our visit with Sky Dome Peru!! Cidelia and Yoel were so kind & welcoming hosts. Our walk with the Alpaca Inti and Llamas Maro & Wayra were extra special!! Cidelia shared a special Inca ceremony and ruins that is a part of her culture and now a part of our hearts. The views from sky domes were mesmerizing and the beds were so comfortable.
This place was one of my favorite places I have ever been! The views and scenery are incredible. And getting to see the stars while laying in bed was so cool! The food was also amazing, the best Peruvian food I had! And Joel and his wife’s hospitality is unmatched. They are the sweetest family ever and you can tell they have a joy and a passion for the work that they do
Amazing place Amazing family just as much
Great location. Beautiful view. Llamas and Alpacas right by. Such a beautiful experience. You can wake up yourself to an alpaca or llama peeking in. Very friendly and helpful family. We did the workshop around the weaving which was also a very nice experience. The food is super tasty. Good simple breakfast. If you want an original overnight stay and place to stay then Sky dome is definitely recommended.
