Yovan, our guide, was incredible. I had the unfortunate reality that I got sick a day before I left for Peru, and due to being on antibiotics and not fully recovered, I couldn't go on the Salkantay trek, but went with the crew all the way to the trailhead. However, Yovan directed me to Ollantaytambo to explore while I recovered for a couple days. He helped arrange a hotel in the town and to have someone at the hotel help me get train tickets to meet the crew in Machu Picchu after they went over the pass. He also offered recommendations in town, gave me support and daily check-ins to see how I was doing. Even outside of the normal Salkantay trek, the amount of support and care I got was incredible, and I cannot recommend Yovan or the trexperience enough.

Stop in a traditional village along the way and enjoy a warm Andean breakfast at a local restaurant.
Meet your guide and trekking team, get your gear ready, and begin the hike.
Reach the bright turquoise waters of Humantay Lake, surrounded by snowy mountains—a calm, beautiful place to rest, take in the view, and snap stunning photos.
Enjoy a freshly prepared picnic lunch made with local ingredients, then continue hiking for about two hours through quiet valleys and below towering glaciers, always surrounded by amazing Andean views.
Settle into our exclusive Salka Glamp campsite, our unique and private camp located right below Salkantay Mountain and used only by TreXperience. Sleep in spacious glamping tents with amazing mountain views, enjoy a cozy tea time and a delicious hot dinner, and finish the day lying under a sky full of stars in the quiet Andes.
Day 2
2
Wake up to hot coca tea or coffee brought right to your tent, then enjoy a big, fresh breakfast to fuel up for the trail.
Hike for about two hours up to the highest point of the trek, with every step opening up bigger views of glaciers, sharp peaks, and the wild Andean mountains. Take a break by a quiet glacial lake next to the trail, perfect for photos and a moment to breathe. From the top, start a gentle three-hour descent through changing landscapes until you reach a comfortable spot for a well-earned lunch.
Continue hiking for about three more hours as the landscape changes from high mountains to lush cloud forest full of plants and trees. Arrive at the small village of Collpapampa, set in the green valley, where you’ll spend the night in cozy Andean huts, enjoy dinner, and fall asleep to the peaceful sounds of nature.
Day 3
3
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast in the green cloud forest valley, with rivers, birds, and exotic plants all around you.
Hike for about three hours to a lush village known for its coffee and fruit farms. Join a traditional Pachamanca, where your meal is cooked underground with hot stones—a fun, hands-on experience. Visit an organic coffee farm, see how coffee is made from bean to cup, and enjoy a fresh, local brew.
Enjoy a scenic one-hour drive to the Hidroelectrica station, surrounded by jungle views. From there, hike for about three hours along the train tracks, passing valleys, rivers, and lush tropical greenery.
Arrive in Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo), enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, and spend the night in a comfortable 3-star hotel.
Day 4
4
After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll walk to the bus station and line up for one of the first buses around 5:30 a.m. On the way up, the sky slowly gets lighter, and if the weather is good, you might see the sunrise over Machu Picchu and the citadel appear in the morning light.
Your guide will bring Machu Picchu to life on a 2 to 3-hour tour, showing you the main temples, terraces, and best viewpoints while sharing the history and hidden stories of this Inca city. After the tour, you’ll have time to hike Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain for incredible views from above (need to be booked in advance).
Travel back on the Vistadome train and enjoy amazing views of the mountains and valleys through its large panoramic windows.
When you arrive in Ollantaytambo, our driver will pick you up and take you to your hotel, ending your Salkantay adventure.

Yovani was the best guide we could ask for during our 4 day Salkantay Trek. From clear communications, handling logistics, and always being there along every step of the way. He was a clear expert on the local mountains, community, language, and history; thus, I learned so much about the Incas, the wildlife, and the surrounding nature. My group felt very lucky to have him. The rest of the staff were all top notch. From the horseman, the porters, the chefs, and the admins. All were so friendly and provided excellent services. Big shout out to the chefs who provided a variety of mouth watering dishes for every single meal. We were fed like royalty. 10/10 for TreXperience. I highly recommend them for a multi day trek in the Andes.
I didn’t know what to expect since I have never before been on a multiple day hike before. But this has been an amazing hike and experience. I didn’t realise on this hike we were going to have a chef ( who cooked amazing ) porters and horsemans who helped us with our stuff and made sure it would arrive safely at the next stop and a guide who spoke english very well and made us feel welcome. We made a lot of jokes on the way and honestly I wish I could do it all again.
Had the Best time during my 4 days salkantay trek to Machu Pichu. Special thanks to our guide Yovan and the Chef Estevi!!! It was not only about the hike, we leraned a lot about the Inka history, as Yovan was very into it and teached us a lot about Inkas, the Andes and the fauna and flora. Would do it every time again.
One of the best experiences we ever had. Tony and William were the best guides. Oscar and Darwin’s food is better than any restaurant in Peru. If you’re going to use a company in Peru, use this one.
We had an unreal experience with TreXperience. Our guide Thony was very knowledgeable and down to earth, giving great detail throughout the 4 days, Chef’s Oskar and Darwin cooked some of the most delicious Peruvian food I have tasted. The Salkantay Trek is obviously a must do With great accomodation, excellent food options for every meal of the day and a great group. TreXperience is a must!
We had an amazing experience! Our guide, Thony was knowledgeable, funny and caring. He was supportive and made sure we were always doing well. The chefs, Oscar and Darwin cooked up the most delicious food ever. The portion sizes were huge, leaving us full and energised for our treks. Shout out to Allie as well! I would highly recommend!
Looking back on this journey, one of the things I’m most grateful for is having such an amazing guide and Cook Team accompanying us along the way. To our wonderful guide, Yovan thank you for being so patient, understanding, and kind throughout the entire trek. We all had different walking speeds, and I know it wasn’t always easy to look after everyone while making sure the journey went smoothly. Yet, you never lost your patience or made anyone feel like a burden. You always found a way to look after each of us, offering encouragement when we needed it and making sure nobody felt forgotten or left behind. And to our amazing Cook Team, a huge thank you for filling our days with such delicious food! After hours of walking and exploring, coming back to a wonderful meal was an absolute treat. Everything was so tasty, and it was incredible how you managed to prepare such satisfying meals for us throughout the journey. Your hard work added so much warmth and happiness to our trekking experience.
We had a wonderful time with TrexPerience on our Inca Trail adventure! From start to finish, all of the staff involved (from drivers to chefs) were extraordinary. Especially our two guides Filio and Fernando. Their love of their country, its history and the people shows through in their passion. Highly recommend!
Amazing experience. The guide Davidcha was really professional, kind and took good care of all of us. The food cooked by the chefs Ferdinando and Felipe was delicious. The accomodations were really comfortable and all the trip was well organized. Absolutely recommanded.
Thank You for Making This Journey Unforgettable ❤️ Looking back at these photos, I realize that some people may only walk with us for a short part of the journey, yet they become one of the most unforgettable parts of the entire trip. A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful guide for your patience, professionalism, care, and companionship throughout the journey. From the mountains and forests to every long ride on the road, you were always there, making sure everything went smoothly and everyone was well taken care of. A great guide does more than simply introduce places and tell stories. You made us feel safe in unfamiliar surroundings, helped us understand the beauty and culture around us, and turned a group of travelers into friends sharing the same unforgettable memories. Thank you for every helping hand, every smile, every laugh, and every beautiful moment along the way. The journey may have come to an end, but the memories, the laughter, and the kindness we experienced will stay with us for a very long time. Thank you for being part of our Peru adventure. We are truly grateful for everything you did for us. Until we meet again on another journey. ❤️
The 4-Day Salkantay Trek with TreXperience was an absolute masterpiece of an adventure. Guide Yovan is a legend. His perfect pacing made the grueling 4,630m pass manageable, and his deep knowledge of Inca history and Quechua culture brought the entire landscape to life. TreXperience camps closer to the mountain on night one, sleeping in the tents under the stars was unforgettable, with surprise hot water bag and the multi-course meals prepared by the mountain chefs were restaurant-quality, porters too ensuring they transport and setup prior to our return. Subsequent stays, coffee tasting and cooking class all elevated the experiences. From Humantay Lake to the Vistadome train back to Cusco, one of the best experiences, highly recommended.
Overall, the trek was an excellent experience! The guides were incredibly knowledgeable, and I learned so much throughout the journey. Every member of the team, from the guides and chef to the porters and horsemen, were friendly, welcoming, and always greeted us with a smile. Their dedication and positive attitude made the experience even more memorable. I would highly recommend this trek to anyone considering it!
If you have 4 days free and are in good physical shape, look no further. This is quite possibly one of the best multi-day hiking routes in the world. I’ve just returned to the hotel after completing this adventure, and I’m already itching to get back out there! The guides: Mr. G was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, and spoke excellent English—even though my Spanish is practically non-existent. Evans, our second-in-command, kept us moving the whole time. What started as a group of strangers ended up becoming a true brotherhood. My door in the UK is always open to them whenever they want to visit; they just need to give me 5 minutes' notice so I can prepare a *pachamanca*! The scenery: Simply spectacular. Unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. The food: Incredible. Fresh, local ingredients, generous portions, and every dish prepared with genuine passion. Everything was ready when we needed it, and absolutely nothing went to waste. The accommodation: * Night 1: A bell tent high up in the mountains, offering the best views of the Milky Way. * Night 2: A cabin tucked away in the middle of the forest. * Night 3: A hotel in Aguas Calientes—perfect for resting up before the early start on day four. Machu Picchu: The photos online look amazing, but nothing prepares you for actually being there and taking in the view from above. Their knowledge, passion for nature conservation, and attention to every detail made the whole experience even more special. Honestly, just book it—don't think twice! You’re in for an unforgettable experience. 🇵🇪
If you have 4 days spare and are reasonably fit, look no further. This is quite possibly one of the best multi-day hikes in the world. I’ve just got back to my hotel after completing the trek and already want to get back out there! The guides: Mr G was incredibly knowledgeable, passionate and spoke excellent English, despite my Spanish being practically non-existent! Evans, our second in command, kept us on our toes. What started as a group of strangers quickly became brothers. Both are more than welcome at my house in the UK — just give me 5 minutes’ notice so I can get the pachamanca ready! The scenery: Absolutely unreal. Unlike anything you’ll have seen before. The food: Incredible. Fresh, local ingredients, generous portions and every meal cooked with real passion\. Everything was ready when we needed it, and nothing went to waste. The accommodation: Night 1: A bell tent high in the mountains, with the best view of the Milky Way. Night 2: A hut tucked away in the forest. Night 3: A hotel in Machu Picchu town, ready for an early start on day 4. Machu Picchu: The photos online look amazing, but nothing prepares you for actually standing up there and looking down! The knowledge, passion for conservation and attention to detail throughout the trek made the whole experience even more special. Honestly, just book it. You’ll have the trip of a lifetime. 🇵🇪
The hike is tough but definitely worth it! The TreXperience team had everything covered so you didn’t have to worry about anything along the way. A big thank you for Alex and Roger our tour guides for being so supportive on our journey. Also, thank you to Jaime, our chef, who made excellent food and always made sure there was something special and sufficient for me as a vegetarian. I would highly recommend the Salkantay Trek with TreXperience.
We had an amazing adventure with our group of five guys during our hike, together with our guides Nill and Fernando! We visited some incredible places and enjoyed breathtaking viewpoints. Everything was very well organized, from the food to all the arrangements along the way. All in all, it was an unforgettable experience that we will remember for a long time. Highly recommended!
Amazing experience something really special and unique!
Me and a friend of mine wrapped this trip up two days ago, along with two other group members. Guided by Royer throughout the whole trek and supported by our chef Heime (sorry if this is not how it is spelled), assistant chef Jaime and Mario to guide the mules carrying our gear in the right direction, we had a truly unforgettable 4 days. Royer shared tonnes of trivia during the hikes as well as during breakfast, lunch breaks and dinner. You could tell he is passionate about fauna and flora, because he regularly stopped to point out specific plants and their uses, or opportunities to spot interesting animals. We felt truly blessed with this crew. All meals were far better than what we expected to get during such an adventure, Royer ensured we knew what to expect during the coming days with a clear briefing one day in advance and regular updates whenever we had our meals together. Make sure you know what you are getting into. The trip is not for the faint of heart. You will be walking a lot and ascending/descending many hundreds of meters. You will be camping on a cold mountain slope and won't always be able to enjoy the comfort of the hotels you might have stayed in the days before. But if you are ready for this, you will be rewarded with some of the most amazing views and environments Peru has to offer.
Hands down the best experience I’ve ever got to experience. From the beginning the plan throughout the trek was on time and efficient. Our tour guides Leo and Rudy were so energetic and patient with us especially when I was one of the last people to finish hiking. They always encouraged me to keep trekking and pushed us to do our best! I love the group of 14 and this groups size is perfect! I’ve met the strongest people on this 4 day trek. We had the best weather and got so luck to have amazing views. I would recommend going on this trek it was life changing. Thank you Trexperience!!
Had an amazing time. Views are wonderful, food is great, and the guides/ staff were awesome. Appreciate Filio and Evans so much
The most amazing staff who were very positive and cheering us on the entire trek. Ángel and Migel were amazing support through the trek, wish sharing information about their culture, stoping to explain different parts through the Salkantay Trek, and also assisting with learning more of the local language. The food team was amazing, with lots of yummy and warm food for each meal, with Jimmy always coming around with a smile on his face, and Erika being there to quickly clean up after us which was very appreciated. The 4 day trek was perfect length, with lots to do each day, with also a good amount of rest time to recuperate. The places we stayed were amazing and clean, with the first night being a bit chilly due to it being high so make sure to pack some stuff to keep you warm, with also having lighter clothes as you get into the other days with being in the Jungle.
What a fantastic trip. It was superbly organized and excellently guided from start to finish! You can tell that TreXperience has been in this business for a long time: everything was perfectly arranged, from the booking process and pre-trip briefing to the attention to every detail, pick-ups, and logistics along the way. Communication was excellent throughout the entire process. A special thank you to our guide, Juan, who enriched the journey with his in-depth knowledge of Peru’s ancient and contemporary culture. It was also incredible to see what happens behind the scenes each day: the kitchen team, horsemen, and assistants worked tirelessly to make this a truly memorable experience. Well done, everyone! It is no surprise that you are the number one trekking company in Cusco. Keep up the great spirit, passion, and customer focus. Tom & Severine / CH
Abelardo was our tour guide. I couldn't have asked for a better one; his knowledge and enthusiasm regarding the history were outstanding. He created the right atmosphere and ensured everyone felt at ease. I truly had the best tour.
Alex is the best guide ever and took care of everyone in the group individually and together. Alberto is a great match and knew how to give a hand before even asking. The kitchen staff operated as a machine, we didn’t miss anything.
Daniel y Raul were absolutely amazing! Very knowledgeable and helped out everyone during the hike , food was amazing so thank you to the cooks and mules and everyone else who supported the group. Highly recommend even if it’s your first serious trek they make it so easy and accessible at all levels! Best of times, Pablo and Sasha
Had an amazing experience with the 4day Salkantay trekking. The guidance is perfect, we were informed well and the trekking was unbelievable. Roger was the best guide we could ask for, very friendly, funny, helpful and had an answer to everything. Thank you Roger, Fernando, Ismael and everything on the team for making this trek with my best friends the best ever!
I booked just 3 weeks before the trip and the team was very proactive and helped me find last minute tickets to machu pichu without any extra hassle of standing in line. The guides were godsend, both Filio and Rodrigo. I was always falling a bit behind the group but the never left me alone throughout the trek and always kept motivating me. The food was one of the highlights of the trip. Never imagined food to be so amazing on a camping trip. Kudos to Santos and team. The stays were also way better than expected. Such a relieving sight after all hiking all day. Surely one of the best experiences of my life.
Definitely worth the money they provided a lot of value that I don’t think could’ve been replicated doing it on your own. The tour guides, Roger and Fernando took their job very seriously and provided a lot of value in explaining and describing the culture. The cooks did a great job with their meals at night. Overall pleased with the outcome.
Great tour guide ! Great food!
We had an amazing experience on the 4D Salkantay Trek with TreXperience. Everything was well organised and all our questions were answered promptly. Our guide Julio was excellent, supporting us throughout the trek and giving interesting information about the mountains and history. Evans was also amazing and helped us with everything.
I was doing it while being sick, so I am not the best example, but overall I liked it, it was not too hard and the guides was great, fun and interesting, especially Roger.
Me and a friend had a wonderful experience with the 4-day-Salkantay-Trek through TreXperience. Our Guide, Tony, was the perfect fit for our small group of 5 travellers. He was a very competent navigator, manager, lecturer but also a very fun companion throughout our time. The meals cooked by Elisabeth and Rosmel were fantastic, super tasty, nutritious and suuuper filling. We are very thankful for this adventure and especially for the superb service (everything you could think of, was taken care of). We felt challenged, but for a normal sporty or fit person - the 4-day-Salkantay is super managable. I personally should have taken 1-2 more layers of clothes, as weather is really unpredictable and can get really cold and wet. If you are looking for a fun and picturesque trek without the hassle of selfplanning, booking, navigation and meal management, you should definitely take this offer into consideration, which is worth every penny (or even more to be honest, as we made unforgettable memories and made new friends on the way).
Trip was perfect organised, good food, good guide, good accomodations... We only wanted more time on machu Picchu site, it all had to go a little bit to fast.
Gilbert and the team were excellent
It was wonderful. Highly recommend! Our guide Gilberth and assistant Moises were amazing. Good group size and the food was delicious. We where treated as kings & queens.
It was a great trip with great Guids (rody and filio ) and great food
Filio was our guide and I would highly recommend him. He has 23 years of experience on the trails. He is knowledgeable, upbeat. encouraging and patient.
Flio and Rodri, our guides, made this an absolutely amazing experience for us. They were always full of energy, motivation, and positive vibes, even during the most challenging parts of the trek. They were very helpful, friendly, and genuinely cared about everyone in the group. Chef Santos also deserves a special mention. He prepared delicious food for 15 people for four days, and honestly, every single meal was amazing without exception. It was incredible to see what he could prepare under the conditions of the trek. The whole team worked incredibly hard to make the experience comfortable, enjoyable, and memorable. We had an unforgettable time and would definitely recommend this experience to anyone looking to do the Salkantay Trek!
We had an amazing 4-day Salkantay Trek, and overall, we enjoyed every single second of it. A huge thank you to our guides, Alex and Roberto, who were both absolutely amazing. They took great care of us throughout the entire trip. I always felt safe, listened to, and well supported, which made such a big difference. Thank you so much for that! The very first hotel pick-up felt a little unorganized, but after that, the organization of the entire trip was excellent. We always received clear information about what was coming next, which was really helpful and allowed us to relax and simply enjoy the experience. The food was exceptional. The cook and the whole team created a fabulous menu every day, and we were honestly impressed by the variety and quality of the meals. After a long day of hiking, having such delicious food waiting for us was a real highlight! The first accommodation, a tent high up in the mountains, was really special. The views were absolutely amazing, and sleeping surrounded by the mountains was an unforgettable experience. The main tent, however, was nothing particularly special. I would have loved to see a similar style to the mountain tent, perhaps with a few more cozy lights or small decorations to make the space feel a little more welcoming. The second accommodation was probably our least favorite. It felt quite simple and didn't have much charm. The bathrooms could also have been nicer, and the main area felt very basic. This is definitely an area where a few small improvements could make the experience even better. Our last accommodation in Aguas Calientes was a nice, simple hotel. The room was spacious, and having a hot shower after the trek was definitely appreciated! Despite a few small things that could be improved, the overall experience was fantastic. The incredible scenery, delicious food, great organization, and especially the care and support from Alex and Roberto made this a trip we will remember for a long time. Thank you, Alex and Roberto, for an unforgettable Salkantay Trek! ❤️
Abelardo and wilbert were truly amazing guides. We had a really good experience with them even when the weather was not great. They both have a good sense of humor making the long walking days or the difficult parts more pleasant. They communicated everything very good and we had no difficulties during this trip. Now and then they gave us some bachground of certain places/people which was really interesting and nice. The food cooked by Ramón and his team was delicious. I’m vegetarían and they prepared something new for me every day and there were also multiple veggie options with each meal. The whole team really did a good job. At the end of the trip we almos missed our night bus but the guides really went out of their way to make sure that we were on time for our bus. Overall really good experience!!
One of the best experiences of my life. Under guidance of our tour guides Filio and Rody and the best food from chef Santos and his crew.
An unforgettable experience on the Salkantay Trek! The views—from Humantay Lake to the Salkantay Pass—were breathtaking. A huge thank you to our amazing guides, Filio and Rodrigo, for their great energy, knowledge, and encouragement throughout the journey. The food and organization were top-notch. Highly recommend doing this trek with them!
Amazing experience. Can’t recommend the trek enough. Our guide Daniel was absolutely incredible, very funny, knowledgeable and always happy to help. Our second guide Efrain was great too, as were the chefs Felix, Juan, Jose and our group of cowboys.
Our tour guides, Jose and Erick, made the trekking experience amazing. In combination with the rest of the staff, they made it a trip not to forget. If something was wrong they fixed it on the spot and made you feel very welcome. Not to forget, the Peruvian food during the trekking was amazing and all the information about the surroundings, the Inca’s and the flora and fauna made it amazing. 10 out of 10 a must to do with these guys!
Angel was a wonderful guide, all the meals were delicious, and my overall experience of the scenery and hiking was very positive. The ascent was actually a little easier than I was expecting and luckily didn’t get any altitude sickness. The first night camping was really cold and the team provided us with hot water bottles which was a life saver.
Great experience and really fun guides (Wilbert & Abelardo) to have alongside you on this trip. We were unfrotunately hit with foggy and rainy weather conditions to which the guides adapted and prepared the group really well. Apart from telling about geography and history there was plenty of room for personal conversations and jokes which made the journey a lot more durable. The guides worked with the different paces and capabillities of everyone and made sure everyone got challenged in their own way. Furthermore was there plenty of food, with a three course menu during lunch and dinner, provided by our cook Ramon (and the rest of the chefs' team) and extra snacks for along the way. At last, upon return to Cusco our train got seriously delayed and endangered our bus connection to another city. Abelardo went out of his way to contact the bus agency with whom we were traveling and secured us a direct taxi to win time. Great overall (tre)Xperience ;)
Wonderful guides and cook! The guides helped us with everything and will walk will the fastest and the ones who like take some time ;) the food is amazing with plenty of choice of different warm food. Even hot coca tea at the top of the freezing mountain. Juan de Dios & Fernando you were amazing, good luck on the next tours! Greatfull for this experience! Rosalio is simply the best cook that can go with you!
Great tour with phantastic people. The tour guides, cooks and support staff were very accommodating, kept us safe and well fed.
Unbelievable experience on hike, our guides juan de dios and fernando helped us throughout the whole hike and gave great information about anything we asked as well as providing entertainment, our chef rosalio provided great Peruvian food throughout.
