2-day Sacred Valley Machu Picchu Experience

We spent several days exploring the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, Ollantaytambo, and the historical sites of Cusco with Tikas Peru, and it was one of the best travel experiences we’ve ever had. Our guide, Michael, made the entire trip outstanding. Michael is incredibly knowledgeable. He brought every site to life with rich historical context, cultural insights, and stories that went far beyond what you read in guidebooks. He always had fascinating details ready and answered every question with patience and enthusiasm. Beyond the history, Michael also excelled at the practical side of travel. He knew all the best places to eat - authentic local spots with excellent food that we never would have found on our own. He also took us to places where we saw how alpaca clothes were made by indigenous communities. Watching the traditional process firsthand was fascinating, and knowing that our purchases directly supported those local families made the experience even more meaningful. These things added so much value and enjoyment to the trip. The itinerary was well-paced and thoughtfully organized, giving us enough time at each location without feeling rushed. Everything ran smoothly from start to finish. I’ve been to Peru before to visit family but never had the chance to see the wonders of this country. After Meeting with Veronica when we landed in Cusco, I felt like I was in good hands. She took us out to a lovely restaurant and let us roam as we wished. The next day, we meet up with Michael and made our way to the sacred valley. The way he gave an honest and truly authentic explanation to the various sights assured me that we were getting the true Cusco Experience.

I recommend this llama experience tour. I traveled for my vacation to Peru and had one of the best experiential experiences in a rescue center with South American camelids, it is an inexplicable connection with nature to see the Andean condor and feel its majesty is unforgettable. The Color Mountain is unique and beautiful. Roy was an incredible guide for our trip to Machu Picchu. He was knowledgeable and took his time describing every aspect of the history of this landmark, and carefully answered all of our questions. Roy also is an AMAZING photographer and videographer - all of my friends and family are so impressed by the photos I have from Machu Picchu, and it is all because of Roy! Finally, he is very well connected, from giving us good tips on lining up for the bus in the morning all the way to a great lunch recommendation (with welcome drinks). My sister went on a trip to Peru in Nov. 2023 and highly recommended Tikas Peru for our Peru trip in December between Christmas and New Year's. I got in touch with Michael and we corresponded via WhatsApp over the course of several weeks to finalize our itinerary. Michale was extremely responsive and always provided detailed responses to any questions I had. I once texted him at 2am expecting him to respond the following day, but he responded right away! We were a group of 8 and he arranged private tours and transfers for us for all 7 days. He ensured that the itinerary worked for our specific needs and provided very reasonable and transparent pricing. Our tour started in Cusco, and we were greeted by his team and our guide Christian (Chris) at the airport. We were amazed by the care and attention to detail. Plenty of space in nice comfortable Mercedes tourist van that could seat 16 (including driver and guide). Two days of customized guided tour of the sacred valley including Manos Animal Rescue Center (dozens of llamas/alpacas etc.), Pisac, Maras, Moray and Ollantaytambo. Chris was very knowledgeable and aware of the requirements of our diverse group. Furthermore, he steered clear of the tourist traps, and gave excellent restaurant recommendations. Next two days were in Machu Picchu and again everything was perfectly planned - from hotel pickup, transfer to the train station, Vistadome train to Aguas Calientes, and two days of guided excursions to Machu Picchu. On day 2 we did the HuchuPicchu trek - Chris showed utmost concern for our comfort and safety, and made sure we all made it up the mountain and back down safely. We followed that with three nights in Cusco including a Cusco City Tour and a trek up the Rainbow Mountain. Again Chris ensured we were comfortable - he carried anti-nausea meds, oxygen etc., ensured that the rides on horses or motorcycle up and down the mountain were arranged, etc. From Cusco, we drove down to Puno and enjoyed two nights in Lake Titicaca. Michael had arranged another local guide in Puno (Henry), and he was equally knowledgeable and caring. We spent a few more days in Lima on our own and immediately missed the amazing private tour experience that Tikas Peru offered. Highly recommend Tikas Peru for a comfortable, hassle-free, informative and enriching experience.

Michael is the only tour guide that you will ever need. His knowledge, experience, and humor was absolutely excellent. Everything was very clear and his English was perfect. During the sacred valley and Machu Picchu tour he knew all the good spots for pictures and the best views. He has true passion about the sites and he even has a masters degree in history.
