Itinerary
Day 1
1
Welcome to Cusco! Upon your arrival at the Alejandro Velasco Astete Airport, a friendly representative from Inkayni Peru Tours will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. This day is reserved for rest to allow your body to adapt to the altitude of 3,400 meters (11,000 feet). Spend the day exploring the city at a leisurely pace or relaxing at the hotel. In the evening, meet your expedition group to go over the details of your upcoming adventure.
Day 2
2
The day begins at 8:00 AM with a pickup from your hotel, followed by a scenic 1-hour 20-minute drive through the Sacred Valley. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks, golden wheat fields, and traditional Andean villages. Our first stop is Moray (3,500 masl / 11,483 ft.), an intriguing archaeological site with three amphitheater-like terraces carved into the earth. These formations were likely used by the Incas for agricultural experiments. Next, we drive 3 km (2 mi) to the Maras Salt Mines (3,380 masl / 11,089 ft.), an ancient salt-extraction site with over 3,000 salt pools still in use today. Our final stop is Chinchero (3,762 masl / 12,343 ft.), a charming village known for its Inca ruins, colonial church, and vibrant weaving traditions. Here, local artisans demonstrate Andean textile techniques passed down for generations. After a day of discovery, we return to Cusco (3,399 masl / 11,152 ft.).
Day 3
3
The adventure begins with an early pickup around 6:00 AM (time to be confirmed). A scenic 3-hour drive takes us to Malaga Pass (4,350 masl / 15,190 ft.), where we start an exhilarating mountain bike descent. Over the next three hours, we ride through picturesque villages, lush orchards, and rushing rivers, arriving in Huamanmarca (1,800 masl / 5,906 ft.) around 1:30 PM. From here, a private bus takes us to Santa María (1,200 masl / 3,937 ft.). After a short break and lunch, we embark on a thrilling 2-hour rafting adventure, navigating Class II and III rapids under the supervision of a professional safety kayaker. Following this adrenaline-filled experience, we return to Santa María, where a delicious dinner awaits and we settle in for the night, preparing for the next day’s adventure.
Day 4
4
After a hearty breakfast, we begin our trek to Santa Teresa at 6:00 AM. The first two hours involve an uphill climb, with several stops to explore the region’s diverse flora and fauna. One of these stops includes a visit to a local family's home, where we’ll rest, enjoy fresh tropical fruit, and refill our water supplies. We then continue along a historic section of the Inca Trail, which once connected Machu Picchu and Vilcabamba. Here, our guide will share fascinating stories of Inca history and communication systems, while we take in breathtaking views of the Huancarccasa Canyon. Descending to Quellomayo, we enjoy a well-earned lunch and relax in hammocks before continuing to the Cocalmayo hot springs, where you’ll unwind in the natural thermal baths. Afterward, we walk 40 minutes to Santa Teresa (1,550 masl / 5,085 ft.), where dinner and lodging await, preparing us for the next adventure.
Day 5
5
After an early breakfast, we will begin our trek to Aguas Calientes at approximately 6 AM. The journey starts with a scenic 3-hour walk through the lush Aobamba Valley, where you’ll be surrounded by vibrant vegetation and stunning mountain views. Along the way, we will pass the Intihuatana sector, where you’ll encounter the government control post before continuing the hike. Lunch will be provided en route, offering a chance to rest and recharge while taking in the beautiful scenery. In this area, you will also have the opportunity to see an ancient astronomical sundial used by the Incas, along with other fascinating structures near the iconic Machu Picchu citadel. After approximately 3 hours of trekking, we will reach Aguas Calientes, following the train tracks that lead into this charming town nestled at the base of Machu Picchu.
Day 6
6
The day begins early with breakfast before boarding one of the morning buses to Machu Picchu. Upon entering the Inca citadel, your guide will lead you on an in-depth tour, sharing the captivating history of this iconic site and explaining its most remarkable features, such as temples, ceremonial areas, terraces, and storage structures. If you’ve secured an additional ticket in advance, you’ll also have the opportunity to explore either Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain for a breathtaking perspective of the surroundings. After the guided tour, the group will return to Aguas Calientes for a brief rest and lunch (not included). In the afternoon, you’ll board a train back to Ollantaytambo, where a private van will be waiting to take you to Cusco, marking the end of an unforgettable journey.
Day 7

On your final day, we’ll arrange your transfer to the Cusco Airport, ensuring a smooth departure according to your flight schedule. As your adventure comes to an end, we hope you leave with unforgettable memories of Peru’s breathtaking landscapes and rich culture.

Our guide Jonathan was wonderful. We felt safe and cared for with our best interest in mind the entire trip. Johnathan was able to build a bridge over the tour company's gaps making the trip seamless for our family.
We toured with our guide Jonathan, we couldn't have been in better hands. He was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the tour and of the surrounding country. Nothing was too much him, he went out of his way to give us the best possible experience. Having been on a similar tour to this one I can honestly say Jonathan is the best guide. I would wholeheartedly recommend this tour and you will have the best time in Peru with Jonathan.
Amazing scenery and adventure. Our guide Jonathon was amazing! Incredibly knowledgeable and connected in the area. All the activities were well done and very enjoyable and the scenery was the best I have ever seen.
What an amazing experience! Seeing the sights of peru through different means was amazing! Papa Freddy was an amazing guide! He provided amazing background to the Andean and Incan culture, the ways of the peruvian people. Highly recommend this trip if you want a nice balance of high thrill activities and enjoyable hikes up to machu picchu!
I came to visit with a friend for the four day into adventure tour. It was very well organized, and we had a good time. Percy was our tour guide, and she was very knowledgeable, kind, friendly. I would highly recommend.
Percy is a very knowledgeable and considerate tour guide. He took care of everything from hotel pickup in Cusco to the final drop off. He was with us for the entirety of the trip as we biked and hiked around. The food provided each day was delicious! We were lucky to have good weather almost everyday with some cloud cover and isolated drizzles to cool us down during the hike. The need for insect repellent and long sleeves cannot be understated! Those sand flies are vicious while hiking in the lower jungles of the Andes!
This trip was beyond amazing! The tour guides were really lovely (Freddy) as were the instructors for the activities (Gustavo for rafting). All excursions were well planned and on time, meals were delicious and I was really happy to have time with local families to see how they live/work. The equipment used for activities have been in good working order and the staff running them are professionals - I felt safe doing everything. Wilbert in particular has been wonderful. He has made sure I've been able to eat food (I'm dairy-free), has ensured I'm healthy and able to continue activities after a fall and has been an absolute pleasure to be around! As I was the only one on the tour, it's just been me and him - he is so informative, friendly and interesting. He was also been super helpful when I needed cash but only had my card, gave me water when I forgot and made sure I took my time in every place. Give the man a raise! This tour was incredible and I would highly recommend it! It is great value for money too and you won't regret it.
We decided to go to Peru for a guys trip. It was absolutely phenomenal. The best trip of my life. Our guide Jonathan was exceptional. His deep knowledge of the people and culture enhanced the experience.
Had an amazing 4 days, would highly recommend. Our tour guide Johnathan was great he made the experience so enjoyable for me and my friend as we had great fun all 4 days with him. The tour exceeded all my expectations.
We have done tours in Bali and Sri Lanka but nothing compared to this amazing week! Wilbert was an absolutely incredible tour guide, taking us on some life changing activities, showing us fantastic wonders and answering all of our questions. The food at the local restaurants was fantastic, all the accommodation was a far higher standard than expected and the activities were incredible!
We had an amazing time on our tour! Wilbert was the best tour guide we have ever had, he was always helpful and very knowledgeable. The accommodation was really good and the food included was delicious! The activities were so much fun and everything was well-organised.
Jonathan was our tour guide for this trip, and he was amazing! Our flight out of the US was delayed, but they were still able to accommodate us so we got to do all the trip highlights including rafting, ziplining, and Machu Picchu. All of the accommodations and food were excellent. We always felt safe and taken care of. Jonathan was super patient, kind, and adaptable. He’s a great communicator and knowledgeable guide. Thanks for this awesome experience!
My trip was amazing and had a wonderful time Our tour guide Jonathan was a amazing person and is very knowledgeable about the history of the inka and made us feel really safe during our hike though the jungle has
We had the best time doing this tour! it was an amazing experience and we have Jonathan, our incredible tour guide, to thank for. We had lots of fun doing all the activities even while 4.5 months pregnant 🙂
This was a great trip! Very well organized and executed by the tour guide, Johnathan. He had a lot of knowledge and experience and was able to modify the trip for all the group members. I had a great time!
The basics: We booked the Inca Jungle Adventure for our family of 4 and added a 1-day excursion to Humantay Lake. Inkayni Peru Tours provided a great experience, and we highly recommend them for your trip. The details: We made travel arrangements months in advance and nearly canceled due to the political unrest in December 2022. Lisseth with Inkayni encouraged us to wait before making the final decision, and we are glad we did because a truce between factions coincided nearly perfectly with our trip. We made our own flight arrangements to Cusco, and we were met promptly at the airport by a driver. We had different drivers for various portions of the trip, but they were always on time. We were assigned Saul (pronounced like Raul) as our guide for the trip. He was very personable, his English was accented but fluent and easy to understand, and he was knowledgeable about history, architecture, animals, and plants. The activities are perfectly sequenced to allow a buildup to the grand finale at Machu Picchu, and Inkayni provides a decent summary on their website. We added the extra hike to the top Waynapicchu at Machu Picchu, and we also enjoyed our hike to see Humantay Lake. The lodging arrangements were adequate to good, and the provided food ranged from adequate to excellent, but the highlights of the trip were the activities, and they were well worth the effort and expenditure. We did get lucky in that we traveled during the rainy season, but we did not have to change any of our activities and had lots of sunlight most days. Our normally petulant adult son said it was the best vacation we have ever taken! If you’re still reading, here are some travel suggestions: Consider trip insurance. Apparently, political unrest is not uncommon in Peru, and it may pay to be covered. Consider booking your in-country Lima to Cusco flight through the local Peruvian website (versus the USA link). There is an automatic upcharge with no clear reason other than booking in English. You must make sure you confirm the details of your flight before booking, but this can save significant money. Pack light and bring a good hiking backpack. We brought too much and had to leave 2 of our large suitcases at the first hotel while cramming the essentials into smaller bags. A larger duffel/backpack and a smaller day pack would probably work well for most. Bring quick dry clothing. We traveled during the rainy season, and no cotton or thick clothing dried overnight. And a waterproof raincoat or poncho should be carried on you for sudden squalls. Buy the strongest bug repellent you can find. Their mosquitoes are small, but their bites are big and itch for days! Reapply the repellent often but expect to get bitten and bring some anti-itch cream, too. Bring extra medications for unexpected illnesses. 3 of the 4 of us picked up a stomach bug despite avoiding tap water and only eating prepared foods. You can buy some stuff at the pharmacy, but it will be easier to have the basics on hand. Wear sunscreen on all your excursions, even when it’s cloudy. Prepare for the altitude as much as you can. My wife took medications while I declined, and she fared much better than I did. Know your comfort with heights. This is obvious for zip lining, but there are also portions of the Santa Maria – Santa Teresa hike that require traversing narrow trails with sheer cliffs. My wife struggled with the hike, and she opted out of zip lining and the climb to the top of Waynapicchu.
Our tour was with Jonathan, he was very good and gave fantastic information about the places we visited. Always was on time, and made an effort to create a good connection with us.
Jonathan was an excellent guide, and a great outdoorsman. We love Machu Picchu and all the other sport excursions we went on.
Wowzer! Where to start???!!! This four day adventure far from exceeded expectations! We were looked after from day one, had so many first experiences and made some great memories! Each activity had lots of little surprises along the way too! To our tour guide Jonathan, thank you for making our journey so special….for sharing Peru’s fascinating history, answering all my annoying questions, lathering me in tequila and ABOVE ALL ELSE…sharing your kind and generous spirit with us all! Forever Mi Amigo! I hope we meet again ❤️
I had an amazing time in Peru, and our guide Wilbert made it even better!! The tour itself is beautiful, well planned, and so packed with interesting stops along the way, but Wilbert made it extra special. He went out of his way to show us customised experies for us (mines was an interest in Peruvian coffee) and helped us get through the toughest parts of the trek. He is a wealth of knowledge and had an answer for just about every question and inquiry we threw at him. I would highly recommend this company - it was an adventure of a lifetime!!
This was a 7 day tour out of which 3-4 days are filled with adventure, good food in the beautiful nature. Jonathan is a good tour guide, knowledgeable, friendly and very accommodating. Well versed in English and is passionate about the places we visited. He talks with the same excitement as he would have if it was his first time touring. As a solo traveler I felt safe. It's a flexible tour (although if you wish to skip a few activities, you might have to pay for taxi fares to take you back to the hotel). I was hesitant for River rafting and Inca trek but the Jonathan and river rafting guys were so patient and motivating and they helped me feel safe while doing those activities. Absolutely loved riding down the mountain. I did in October 2021 and it was like riding a bike in clouds. Love the Inca trail trek (a part of it) and had an amazing tour guide (Jonathan), who was also a great photographer/videographer. Oh and am so glad to have done the River rafting. They take you to beautiful waterfalls and show you around nature. My favorite towns would have to be Cusco and Aguas Caliente. They are so pretty and amazing people everywhere. Macchu Picchu was a sight not to miss.. the civilization, the knowledge, the generations of souls that place sustained was truly phenomenal. All activities are done by professionals, they know what they are doing. The tour had a decent accommodation through out the tour - mostly 2 or 3 star boutique properties. You can always convey your food/Dietary preference and they will take care of it at the restaurants (doesn't hurt to keep reminding the tour guide though). I tipped as I went along, depending on the activity and/or restaurant. It is not mandatory but I hope it helped a bit especially during these difficult times. Would highly recommend Inkayni Peru Tours.
Great trip. Jonatan was awesome as a guide. Excellent communications, great care and tailored to my pace. He made the trip amazing. The trip was more than expected and the company was top notch delivering on every day of the trip even though I was solo after others cancelled. I would definitely use them again and recommend them. Unforgettable experience
Jonathan was an excellent host and tour guide. We did the 7 day jungle adventure which included the mountain bike, rafting, hiking and zip line. The whole trip exceeded my expectations and was organised very well. Only comment would be that water should be provided throughout the trip each day by the company, otherwise it’s easy to purchase from shops in each location. Jonathan has a great sense of humour and is an experienced and knowledgeable guide. If you visit Peru, be sure to book with Inkanyi Tours!
Johnathon was a great tour guide, extremely knowledgable and very personable. Trip included numerous activities to make you feel the exciting parts of peru. Ending at the magical sight of Macchu Picchu. Would recommend to anyone that wants a fun experience
The Jungle Tour was amazing. If you're thinking about doing this don't hesitate to do it. We had an amazing time and practically a private tour with just 3 ppl in our tour. All the activities, meals and schedule are thoroughly thought out. What made the tour even special was our great guide, Guido, showing us around. He has amazing English and very knowledge about the Inca culture and the region. He always had an answer to all my questions. I honestly wasn't expecting the tour to so educational and informative as it was. I don't think it would have been possible if it was for Guido :) Just book it now. You won't regret it.
This was an experience I’ll never forget. It all started with our great guide Guido who was funny, informative and always looking out for me and my friend. The tour is well organized, the activities are amazing, the scenery is beautiful and the people are so friendly. It is a vacation of adventures! And so many beautiful experiences. Thank you
I have just completed my 4 day jungle trek, the experience was everything I wished for and more. It was very well organised, all activities were to a high standard, the hotels we stayed at along the way were to a high standard and all food was better than I expected, in fact we got a lot of food! Our guide Jonathon was great, he was very well informed and taught us a lot along the way and was very happy to go at a pace that suited us. I would highly recommend!
My friends and I had a great time on this tour. We're not avid hikers but we survived the trek. Our guide Guido was very nice and explained in great detail everything we needed to know at each site we visited. The hotels and home stays were great and so were the restaurants we ate at for lunch and dinner. Some tips that we have for going on this trip are as follows: - invest in a hiking backpack. Once the hiking starts you will need to carry everything you need for the next four days on your back. Thankfully a friend lent me hers. It was perfect because it didn't put weight on my shoulders. -definitely bring layers, though we found that it was quite warm when we went to Santa Teresa and Santa Maria and we didn't require the warm layer. It was quite chilly when we arrived to the village of Machu Picchu -Try to get small change before you go or when you arrive. We had 50 Sol bills and people were reluctant to break them because we would take all of their change -definitely hydrate, we had headaches when we first arrived due to the altitude -I don't usually get car sick but the road to biking had so many tight turns and I started to feel sick. Thankfully when we arrived Guido let me smell "Agua de Florida" which really helped with my nausea -bring snacks, some of our tours started before breakfast at the hotel was ready so we were reaaaally hungry when lunch time rolled around. -Bring sandals for when you arrive to the hot springs. It sucked having to put our hiking shoes back on after the springs.
This tour company as a whole is excellent, unfortunately I took unwell before the first night started. The company arranged a Dr to come to the hotel and sorted my travel insurance details. This was done with no problems or issues and I am very grateful. Unfortunately, due to my health I was hospitalised for the first day but our wonderful tour guide Johnathan came to visit me with my boyfriend and was able to communicate with the hospital staff for me. I joined the tour for day 3 and the downhill biking was excellent, Johnathan and the bus driver kept everyone very safe in the road and the company provided us with excellent safety equipment and mountain bikes. The rafting and zip lineing companies used where also excellent with great safety equipments, I was especially surprised with the zipling. It was an excellent experience with 6 lines, the last being 1km long and some extra activities along the way. The views along the hike on day 4 where breath taking, I did struggle at the start due to my own health but Johnathan made sure I was OK, he also took some fantastic pictures of us along the way. Matchu Piccu was our final show stopper to this adventure, and although the weather was not on our side (I'm from Scotland but wow it rained) Johnathan gave a great tour, full of fascinating facts and local knowledge and made our wet morning fun and memorable. A few of us had passes to climb the mountains around the site and thankfully when we came down the rain and cloud had cleared and we got some stunning views. I would 100% recommend this tour and company if your comi g to Peru and would like to thank our guide again for taki g such good care of myself and making it such a fun adventure.
This was my second solo trip ever & I had the most amazing time! I did the 7 day Inca jungle adventure to Machu Picchu . Our tour guide Jonathan, was extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic & dedicated to ensuring we would all have a great time. He was very focused on our safety at all times. Most important he wanted us all to have fun!
An awesome tour that gives you a taste of everthing Peru has to offer made possible by the excellent tour guide Jonathan. Highly recommended
Jonathon our tour guide was knowledgeable and fun. He was very professional and accommodating... great tour, would highly recommend
We had Jonothon for our tour guide and he was amazing. He was very knowledgable of all of our visited sites during the week and willing to answer any questions we had! Highly highly recommend this trip with him!!
Our guide Franco and his assistant Yeny were fantastic. This trip was simply amazing. The care and knowledge and fun provid ed by the tour guides made for an unforgettable experience. The sights and the activities were incredible. I especially liked the history and information Franco provided us. He was friendly and respectful and always made sure we were having a good time. I would recommend this trek to anyone and everyone. 11/10
We had a blast on this trip which had a great mix of physical activities and cultural learning. Johnathan our guide was very accommodating and didn't flinch when we asked him to meet us at 4:20 AM to catch the first bus to Maccu Piccu, which we did. He even stopped to help a wounded dog while we were mountain biking. Highly recommend this trip!
As a solo traveler, I was a little nervous about what to expect when arriving to Cusco. However, I was so pleasantly surprised to have had Jonathan as a guide. He made me feel super safe and right at home - so friendy and willing to go extra lengths to see that the group and I were always having fun. Everything was taken care of in advance and went so smoothly. Truly a memorable experience. If you're a solo traveler, totally recommend this tour (and if you get Jonathan as a guide, even better)! (:
