Went with my wife on July 16, 2026. The suite we were given was just impressive. The room opened to a very spacious living room, which was separated from the very roomy bedroom. The bathroom was very comfortable. As for the attention given by the employees, it was top of the line. Many learned our names, and their service was impeccable. This is the first hotel I have stayed at where breakfast begins at 3:00 am. This was very useful, since in a couple of tours we took, Machu Picchu and the Rainbow Mountains, we had to be ready to go at 4:00 am. I stayed four nights, but could easily had stayed there for weeks. One of the nights we had a folklore show with dinner which we found to be very entertaining. It took place at the restaurant located in the hotel,(Mamiaji, where they also served the breakfast). The only problem which I had, occurred during the first night. That happened when I complained that the room felt cold. The hotel staff immediately brought two heaters to the room, which solved the problem.

In my opinion, Sonesta Hotel is one of the best places to stay in Cusco. The staff make you feel truly welcome and provide exceptional service throughout your stay. The rooms are spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. Housekeeping is excellent, with daily cleaning and fresh bed linen provided. The staff are friendly, professional, and always willing to help. The breakfast buffet is outstanding, offering a wide variety of fresh and delicious options. The room service food is also excellent, with high-quality meals that are both tasty and well prepared. Overall, I highly recommend Sonesta Hotel to anyone visiting Cusco. It offers outstanding comfort, service, and value. A+++.
This is a hotel located on one of the major roads 800m SE of the main Cusco square, near the tail of the cougar in the original Cusco city layout. This is a full service hotel with a full sized restaurant, staffed reception and lobby, a café and gift shop with an official 4 star rating. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the main square and the walk is pleasant so it is fairly convenient. The hotel has 5 floors with guest friendly stairs and 2 elevators, so access is not a problem. The rooms are fairly spacious, with beds, a small desk/bench and a chair. There is a large window that can be tiled or swung open, offering good airflow for cooling and venting. The room has central air that heats but not cool (we are in July), it can get a little warm in the afternoon though opening the window for 5 minutes solves that problem. The décor and furniture is good, and bathroom is well appointed with good hot water flow and pressure. The breakfast for this hotel is above average, with a good spread of hot and cold dish as well as custom egg station. Food options range from hot Andean classics, juices, breads, American breakfast staples such as eggs and sausage and various cereal and fruit items. Juices, tea and coffee is also included. This offers a very good start to the day. They also serve lunch and dinner but we didn’t eat there.
Hotel in great location, it's about 15 mins walk to the Main Square. Plenty of food options outside, also cafes, markets and souvenir stores. The service is great with friendly staff and always there if needed. The 24/7 reception is in operation, you can also dial them from your room. The restaurant and bar are available downstairs in case staying in the hotel is preferable. The breakfast buffet is really good with plenty of local optiond along more traditionally found in hotels. Definitely recommended.
I stayed at the Sonesta Cusco twice during my trip to Peru, and my experience varied significantly depending on the room. During my first stay, I would have rated the hotel very poorly because the room had several issues, the biggest being the lack of both heating and air conditioning. Cusco can get quite cold at night, so this was a major drawback. However, on my second stay, I was assigned a different room that did have a heater, which made for a much more comfortable experience. Because of this, it seems that room quality can vary considerably. One area where the hotel consistently excels is its staff. Everyone I interacted with was polite, professional, and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was also quite good, with a nice selection of options each morning. I did have lunch at the hotel restaurant once and unfortunately experienced an upset stomach afterward, although I cannot say with certainty that the meal was the cause. The location is another consideration. While the hotel is in a safe and convenient area, it is a bit far from Plaza de Armas and the main tourist attractions, requiring either a longer walk or a short taxi ride. Overall, the hotel has some strengths, particularly its staff and breakfast, but the inconsistency between rooms and the distance from the historic center keep it from being a top choice for me.
