Great day with Edy! We really enjoyed our time at the waterfalls checking out the beautiful scenery and also all the exciting adventure events! This tour also included a birthday for our son and he had a blast! We appreciated everything that Edy did to make our day special!
Excellent experience and Sebastian was an excellent guide who so kindly made adjustments in timing to best align to our priorities. Absolutely recommend!
Great tour of Waterfall and other spots. Had to the opportunity to learn interesting details about Ecuador!
Great experience and full of insightful information. Good at Don Mario’s was really good!
Great guide; Nice day trip to a waterfall and a lake; Delicious food as part of the tour next to the lake; In regards to scenery there are more interesting things to do, e.g., Cajas national park
Diego was an awesome guide! Just a wealth of information on the flora, geology, and history of the region. He spoke very good English. Overall a great day and would highly recommend this tour.
Great day tour and way to see the Ecuadorean countryside. El Chorro is a beautiful waterfall and Lake Busa was very nice. Edi was a great guide who could answer any question and had really interesting stories about the country and area. I leaned a lot! When we went, it was only our group so ended up being a private tour. If between Cajas or this one, I would recommend doing the Cajas day trip first since the scenery is amazing but if you have a another day, this one is also very good and gives a different look at the area around Cuenca, which has a lot of beautiful landscapes.
Sebastian was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and friendly. His passion for Ecuador truly shone through as he shared so much fascinating history and insight about the country. The sites we visited were stunning, and the waterfall in particular was absolutely breathtaking. If you’re open to a bit of light hiking, not too strenuous, this tour is a fantastic choice.
My driver was Diego Parra of Polylepsis Tours, which I booked through Viator. When Diego learned of my difficulty in walking, he adjusted my private tour accordingly. I was grateful to only walk up to the first of three Chorro waterfalls at Girón and to see Busa Lake without walking around the whole lake. He even provided a walking stick, which I failed to bring along, and which is so helpful to people who are not yet adjusted to the high altitude In addition to those sights and the delicious meal at Don Mario's restaurant at Busa Lake, Diego also took me to the museum "Casa de los Tratados" (where a peace treaty was signed on a table with a leather top) and the scenic view of the memorial of the war between Peru and Ecuador. As an English teacher in the USA of Spanish-speaking students who come from many countries, I am always happy to learn as much as possible about the culture and history of the places I visit. Diego was very knowledgeable and provided much information about the history and culture of Girón, Busa, and the surrounding areas.
Diego was the best guide, full of knowledge and professionalism as well as great sense of humor. The Giron Falls are beautiful!
Diego was a great guide! He had so much information, was kind and professional, a great day! Falls were beautiful!
Another very enjoyable tour with Polylepis. We stopped at Giron on the way to the falls, a laid back old school town with many 'Chola' in traditional dress. They were not dressed up for tourists cos apart from us there wasn't any, its the way they live there. Then on to the falls. I'm 75 and my partner 70 (neither of us that fit!) and we managed the 100m or so up the steps to the lower falls viewing area, so dont let the terrain put you off. Wear good strong shoes and carry a waterproof jacket, cos if it has been raining and the falls are heavy, you will need it. A great experience. Sebastian the guide was very good. We also stopped at a monument to a significant victory Ecuador had over Peru in the 1820s. Sebastian had great knowledge of the events and history of the formation of Ecuador as a country, which really made the trip a very interesting as well as enjoyable experience.
This tour was very enjoyable! The Girón waterfall was gorgeous & Basa lake was pretty & peaceful. While in Girón, we even got to see a beautiful valley view at a former battleground & walk through a museum about the war between Ecuador & Peru. The tour ended with a delicious lunch of traditional Ecuadorian food. We were fortunate to have Diego as our guide, as he was able to share a lot of interesting information with us.
The chorro was amazing! Beautiful and it happened to be a very sunny day. Busa Lake was very beautiful and quiet which was quite nice. Our tour guide was Sebastian Cardenas. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. He had a lot of suggestions for things to do in Cuenca so I wish I would have done the tour at the beginning of my trip.
We liked that our tour was "private" since we were the only two joining. Diego shared a lot of information and his English was good. The intinerary is in general underwhelming.
Our guide Edy was absolutely wonderful we enjoyed it very much! He told us many stories and was very detailed about everything! Told us many legends and was incredibly knowledgeable and informative. My family and I were very pleased. Thank you!
Diego is an excellent guide, he is very knowledgable, always our needs was the first. The food was tipical ecuadorian, at a good and clean place. Good and safe driver.
It was very interesting and we visited beautiful places. Our guide Diego was able to tell us a lot about the history and nature of Ecuador. We booked the booking option with lunch, which can only be recommended like our guide and the whole tour too 🙌🏻
Eddie was a great tour guide. His knowledge about the ancient cultures, Ecuadorian history, and nature topics was impressive. He made sure we had rest stops and was very patient. He is an excellent driver.
We had a brilliant day with Eddie exploring El Churro Falls and Busa Lake. Eddie is knowledgable, attentive and an engaging guide. We particularly enjoyed the stories of Ecuadorian folklore and ancient legends. Couldn’t recommend Eddie more!
Our tour guide Diego was truly a top notch tour guide. He was very punctual, safety conscious and above all, highly knowledgeable.

An amazing experience. It is my first time in Cuenca and in Ecuador. Eddy was very friendly and so knowledgeable. His stories were engaging and informative. I would love another opportunity to tour with him and would recommend him to anyone looking to tour in the Cuenca area.
We had a wonderful day out at Busa Lake and El Chorro waterfall! Our guide, Diego, was charming and extremely knowledgeable about the vegetation, the area, and anything we wanted to know about Ecuador. Our tour included a delicious lunch of some typical Ecuadorian food. And the falls were spectacular! Thank you for a very worthwhile day out.
We had an amazing 2 person tour. Well worth the time and money. Our guide, Diego, was so fun and extremely knowledgeable. We learned things that we would not have learned otherwise. We were so happy to spend the day with him. He is fantastic. The views were breathtaking. Girón is a lovely small town. The historical museum was added surprise to the tour and well worth a visit. San Fernando, Busa Lagoon and El Chorro is absolutely beautiful. The views were stunning❤️
Communication with Polylepis has been really easy. Diego has been a great tour guide with a lot of knowledge. We had great conversations during the hole tour.
Edison (Eddie) is a wealth of knowledge and a top notch professional guide. He shares all his knowledge of Cuenca, not only historical but geographical and ecological as well. My family and I were very fortune to have met Eddie and spent these amazing days with him exploring this part of Ecuador. He is punctual, plans his trips thoroughly and lays out expectations . He is accommodating and looks out for the best possible experience for his clients. We hope to visit Cuenca and surroundings regions again and will undoubtedly hire Eddie and look forward to our next visit.
I did this tour on the last day of my visit to Ecuador, and it was one of my favorite memories from the trip. The hike up was strenuous (there's a shorter route but I specifically requested the longer route as it encompasses better views), but it was totally worth it because of the stunning views along the hike, as well as at the waterfall. What made the tour even more enjoyable was my wonderful guide - Diego. A huge shout out to him as he's definitely one of the best guides I've ever had during my travels. Diego was extremely attentive and talkative. For anyone that wants to learn more about the history, culture, and landscape of Ecuador, he'll be more than glad to answer your questions. The 3-hour hike felt really short as, during the whole time, we were having a "cultural exchange". Diego was eager to learn about American culture, whilst I wanted to learn more about Ecuador. Upon hearing that I'll travel to Peru via Huaquillas by bus the next day, Diego went the extra mile and sent me a comprehensive list of useful Spanish phrases which helped make the border crossing experience totally seamless. Overall, this was an outstanding tour and a "hidden gem" of Southern Ecuador. I highly recommend doing it!
I just want to share my experiences today on our tour with Edison Juka ☺️ It was amazing tour to the Girón Waterfall and Busa Lake So much fun,so much good time ,Edison is a very friendly guy, very kind and good company.Thank you Edison so much ,it was incredible experience 🙂
The tour started at 8:30, when Andres picked me up at my hotel. Andres was very knowledgeable about Ecuadorian politics and the economy and about the history of Ecuador. It was fun and interesting to talk to him and I learned a lot. Our fist stop was at el Chorro, a wonderful waterfall, Then we continued to lago Busa, where we did a tour around the lake. He told me interesting stories about the different plants, flowers and birds. After a delicious lunch we headed back to Cuenca. I can fully recommend this interesting tour.
Our small group of three had two tours with Polylepis tours put of Cuenca. The tours were the highlight of our stay in Cuenca. The operator followed up with us promptly before the tours and after. Our guide for both days was Andres. We all found him to be most informed and helpful during our tours. His English was “perfecto” even though our Spanish was very rusty to say the least. He was able to answer all of our questions along the way, many times before we even asked. He was professional and given the often difficult Covid restrictions, we were able to throughly enjoy each outing. We would recommend this tour operator and guide Andres without reservation!! 5 stars!!!!!
Wow cant say enough how much we enjoyed the tour!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and love for the park!! Would recommend to all!
The setting for El Chorro is magnificent. Surrounded by jungle, it falls majestically into a small pool of water, continuing on as brooks. As in most places that cater to visitors, the paths to and from the waterfall are one way. The walk from the parking to the base of the waterfall is not very steep, but it is a narrow passage through a nature trail. I did see a couple of seniors making their way up to the waterfall. However, on the way back (the one way path) is more steep and challenging. I personally felt that the visiting seniors should be able to take the same way back, just because the other path may be too strenuous for them. That aside, the waterfall is beautiful, we visited in late November, and the water was very cold, but we were told that many people swim or wade in the pool underneath the rushing water when the weather is nice. As foreigners, we had to pay $3 admission fee. We enjoyed our hike through the woods.
The waterfall is spectacular and not too far from Cuenca. The drive from Cuenca is not too long and was very scenic. Eddie is a very safe driver - we never had to worry about excess speed or inappropriate passing both so common in Ecuador. His car was a spotless and comfortable SUV. He gave us great information on a wide variety of subjects - birds, plants, Ecuadorian politics, the various indigenous people and even the street dogs. He answered all of our many questions! Busa Lake was also attractive. As of 2020 it has just been spruced up for day tripping and camping and you can fish, eat or walk around the lake. More a slice of Ecuadorian life than an unadulterated nature experience. In that way the contrast of the falls and the lake are perfect. Eddie also took us to Giron to see the modern church with beautiful stained glass. We enjoyed our day very much and recommend Polylepis without reservation.
Great place to visit we had a good time there with the family. We really enjoyed the nature and the beauty of the falls.
Extraordinary places!! Cute experience in Girón and Laguna Busa recommended 100% for anyone who visits him lol
