Sea Kayak Tour Chania Venetian Coastline

fun tour; after clear explanation how to paddle we kayaked around the harbor, heard about history of the place, made several stops to listen more history. Then we swam and snorkeled. Sea was clear and beautiful color.

Haris is a very experienced and knowledgeable guide. He was patient with us and took his time adjusting the kayak to fit us so that we were comfortable. We were given detailed instructions regarding operating them and he made sure we were able to paddle and steer correctly. It was a beautiful trip and he provided us with history regarding the Chania port and areas. The stop at Lazaretta Island to swim, snorkel, and enjoy the scenery was a great experience.

We had a great time. Ares our guide was knowledgeable and told us stories about the area. An excellent instructor and was patient and kind with our teens.

A brilliant experience and unique way to see Chania from the coastline. Instructions via email ahead of the trip were clear and helpful, especially due to a last minute rescheduling. No previous kayaking experience necessary, dry bags provided for valuables and thorough safety instructions at the beginning of the tour including life jackets. Pace is relaxed and includes frequent breaks to drink water and learn about the history of Chania. Our guides were knowledgeable, utmost professional and funny - keeping people informed and entertained throughout.

A wonderful experience. Harris was a great guide - very entertaining and we felt safe with him looking after us. The kayaking was easy with very frequent breaks and having the rudder is a plus!

Unfortunately, the Kayaking tour for which I was scheduled was cancelled due to the weather (beautiful sunny day but the water was too rough). This is no fault of the operator and is totally understandable. The reason for the average rating however, is because I was never notified of the cancellation. I showed up at the meeting point with my taxi driver and there was no one to be found. After waiting for a while and walking up and down the beach, I sent the operator a message and my taxi driver called the operator, at which time he acknowledged that the tour was cancelled and “We must have missed sending the email to you”. He was very apologetic and offered to reschedule my tour for the following day, but I was flying out the next morning so this was not possible. My money was promptly refunded, however I am out the money I paid for taxi service to and from the meeting point. Luckily the taxi driver waited with me to make sure I was taken care of. I would suggest to anyone signing up for this or any other excursion to take the time to contact the operator a day in advance yourself to make sure everything is still set to go as planned, and not rely on the operator to notify you of issues.

Incredible day out for all the family. Ekaterina and Harris were knowledgeable, friendly, relaxed and fun and gave the children confidence. It was the best way to experience Chania for the first time, the views were sensational and we saw shoals of gorgeous fish snorkelling at the little island we went to, which also had a rich and varied history. Would 100% recommend. On a side note, the harbour restaurant Harris recommended for lunch afterwards was world class and so cheap!

Wonderful tour if the Chania Old Town harbor, island and coastline. Weather and sea conditions in January were great- Harris updated us on weather conditions the day before and suggested adjusted our trip time to ensure we would have the best conditions. We had a great time and seeing Chania from the sea was the highlight of our trip! Thank-you Harris!

Really enjoyable morning ! This tour is for beginner kayakers or for those who want to give it a try. Haris the guide and owner provided basic kayaking instruction about paddling and operating sea kayaks with rudders. We kayaked the Venetian harbour, went to a small island with a sandy beach, had a swim in the warm sea. Haris provided goggles so that we could see some of the tropical fish around the island. Kayaks are tandem so you can paddle with a partner. There are plenty of rest stops with the guide providing the historical background of various locations and buildings. Lovely way to spend a morning, touring Chanià’s coast. Again, great for beginners and newbies to kayaking.

My friend and I had such a lovely time kayaking in Chania. We got to paddle all around the beautiful Venetian port and even stopped off at Lazaretta Island, where Haris told us fascinating stories about Crete’s history, Chania, and the shrine to St. Nicholas. We had the chance to go swimming too—Haris kindly provided goggles so we could see and swim with the fish, which was amazing! He also treated us to something delicious from a local bakery and made sure we always had enough water. As beginners, we felt really comfortable and well looked after throughout. Haris was so helpful and made the whole experience fun and relaxed. It was a wonderful way to see Chania from a different perspective, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting!

My husband and I booked with Haris for the sea kayaking. It was a wonderful experience. It was a bit windy so he rearranged meeting place and picked us up. We paddled out to an island for swimming and looking for beautiful fish (which we saw). Haris is a great guide - he has a wonderful sense of humor, is caring and very knowledgeable about the history of Crete. He made the outing very enjoyable. We would highly recommend.

This was a well run, lovely way to see Chania. We met at the beach and the kayaks were ready to go. We had a safety talk and were off. We kayaked through the harbor and out to the sea to an island for snorkeling. It was a lovely day and a great way to see the Venetian Harbor from the sea.

This 3 hours Kayak Tour was AMAZING !! The guide and his wife are very kind, nice, caring and warm people. The Kayak trip was really nice. My partner and I really had a geat time and enjoyed it. Everything was very well organzed. The stories about ancient Greece the guide was telling, were very interesting. He would also remember us, to drink water, so we wouldn't deshydrate because of the hot wheather. So kind! He was also very funny. Thank you for the good time ! I highly recommand this tour Sandy

Our guide Haris provided a unique experience, combining adventure and history, in a most professional yet warm and personable manner. Haris was easy to communicate with, helpful to all the members of our party (15 to 78 years old), uses high quality equipment and is insistent about safety. Paddle through the clear waters of the Venetian harbor, learn about Chania's background story, swim with fish of all sizes and hues and feel confident fairly far out at sea. Altogether a wonderful way to see another side of Crete. Efcharisto, Haris.

Highly recommended, it was an incredible experience!! Felt confident when on the sea after instructions were given. started of kyaking, was told about the history of the area when we stopped, then confused to the shore where we swam with fish! We absolutely loved this sea kayak tour. It was one of the best things we did in Crete! We met our guide Haris at Aptera Beach, got a quick but clear briefing, and were on the water in no time. We paddled over to Lazareta Island, where we swam in the crystal-clear water and explored a few hidden coves. Haris provided us swim goggles to allow us to see the countless fish including Sea Bream. We then paddled across the bay to Chania’s Venetian Harbour, which gave us a completely new perspective on the city. We passed the iconic Venetian lighthouse, fortress, the historic Giali Tzami mosque and the old stone shipyards, all while learning fun and fascinating stories from Haris. Haris took lots of photos of us along the way that he shared. He was committed to our safety. The kayak and equipment was in great shape and everything felt very safe and easy to follow. Prior to our trip, Haris adjusted our kayak route due to the wind and ensured that we were registered with the coast guard. The pace was relaxed, and we didn’t need any previous kayaking experience. Whether you love history, nature, or just want a refreshing activity on the water, Haris's kayak tour is highly recommended.

The Sea Kayak tour was an enjoyable experience from the beginning to the end. The staff communicated well regarding the meeting point and recommended items to bring along. Our guide, Haris, was very attentive, knowledgeable, and humble. We had plenty of time to Kayak, swim, and learn the history of Chania. Everyone in our group, the kids or the adults, had a great time, and a bonus was the multiple photos our guide took during the adventure and shared immediately after the event.

Haris is a great guide. I did 2 day trips whilst staying in Chania on holiday. Both trips were great, 1st day the trip was around the Venetian Port and out to a small island for a swim and snorkel to gaze at the fish. 2nd day trip we were driven out to Stavros and we set off from a beautiful bay and paddled along the coast visiting a few caves, again it was a great trip. I will definitely contact Haris again on my return. Haris was humorous and very knowledgeable.

My partner and I had the best time with Harris. From pick up to drop off, we felt safe and in genuinely caring hands. We highly recommend that you do try kayaking if not done it before, and CERTAINLY go with Harris - he will great a bespoke experience for you based on what you want. We had a fantastic day paddling with Hardee(sp?). He speaks perfect English. From where our cruise ship was at, Suoda Port, it was a short taxi ride of €15, and the taxis were waiting when we got off our ship. There are also city busses that go back and forth for much less. A coffee stand is across the street from the meeting point. We paddled anlong the shore, into the old fort walls and got a detailed history of the city and its formation. Then we paddled out to a private island and swam for a bit in the crystal clear waters. Paddling back was maybe another 45 minutes to complete our trip in just over 3 hours. Highly recommend this tour.

Great morning kayaking and swimming! Haris communicated well and tailored our excursion to the weather (it was a little choppy). He is funny, knowledgeable and professional. We paddled through and around the Chania harbor, learning about the history of the town. Very safe and great exercise. Got some terrific photos too. Highly recommend.

It was a lot of fun but the sea was rough.our guides Katarina and Harris were excellent. Everything went well until we got caught on rocks near the jetty, then our kayak capsized! Harris assisted us in getting back into the kayak. it was not easy, but in the end, we were OK, except for a few scrapes. We felt very safe with Harris. It’s nice to know when something doesn’t go right you are in good hands.

Great tour. Highly recommend! But be prepared to paddle :) beach on the island was nice, you can see some fish in the water!

We had an amazing half day sea kayaking tour with Haris, a very knowledgeable guide and experienced kayaker!! The group was small (only 4 people) and the equipment was top quality. Super stable and sea worthy kayaks and brand new life jackets. Our guide Harris took care of us from the start till the end. He shared his knowledge about the region and gave us great tips to improve our paddling technique! We started with a safety briefing and ended with unforgettable memories! Great way to explore the coastline of Chania! Best day of our stay in Crete!!

This was a unique experience which we both really enjoyed. Haris gave clear instructions, shared stories about crete's history and made sure we had fun while feeling safe. We kayaked in a two person boat and took turns to steer 100% recommend.

I upgraded to a ‘caves’ kayak trip past beautiful coastline, with fascinating caves, culminating in a stop at the mouth of the Samaría gorge. Just beautiful! And in great company who made me feel so welcome as a sole traveller. What an adventure! High seas and some great kayaking. Can’t wait for the next time I return to Crete for more. My husband and I spent our anniversary wit Haris kayaking the Rodopou Peninsula East. Haris is a fun-loving guide who clearly loves what he does. He took us to places we never could have found on our own, told us about the area, and made us feel welcome. The Rodopou Peninsula is amazing. Beachs you can only get to by water, ancient ruins, and - luck for us - a visit from a sea turtle. Haris is great, and we will definitely kayak with him again when we are back in Chenya!!

Haris took my wife and me, experienced sea-kayakers from the northeastern U.S., on a wonderful trip along Rodopos, one of the western peninsulas of Crete. He worked with us by email in the weeks before to find out our skill level, interests, schedule, and time; he paid special attention to the weaterh; and on the day he was prompt picking us up and gave us the whole afternoon to kayak along the huge walls of the Rodopos peninsula. The equipment he provided was great - 17' kayaks and Werner paddles. He was patient and good-humored and full of stories and advice about the area -- it was really a pleasure to kayak with him, at our own pace! I found his beautiful web-page only by chance (googling Kayak trips/Chania or something, rather than via TripADvisor), and I do hope that others discover Haris and his EXCELLENT guided kayak tours!

The Crete highlight for me. Great introduction, well-kept, good kayaks from Prijon. Haris is a great guy and knows a lot about history. He took many beautiful photos with us and sent us afterwards. From the small island you can snorkel super. Think of water, sunscreen, hat and swimming trunks.
