About Activity
A visit to Knossos Palace is an absolute must when exploring Crete. Delve into the exploration of the largest of the Minoan places, dating back to 2000 B.C., and marvel at its partial restoration. Unearthed in the early 20th century by the esteemed English archaeologist Arthur Evans, the ruins and reconstructed sections belong to the final and grandest Minoan Palace-the labyrinth of Knossos. While the city of Knossos maintained its significance through the Classical and Roman periods, the local populace gradually shifted to the new town of Chandax (modern Heraklion) in the 9th century AD. Today, the name is exclusively associated with the archaeological site. You will also have the opportunity to enjoy free time in Heraklion, the capital of Crete.
