Giorgos was an excellent guide! I would have missed a lot of details of the palace and life in the palace if he hadn’t been guiding. Very good experience

An absolute must see!! We drove to the meeting point. Our tickets were ready for us and we simply walked through with our guide. He was very knowledgeable and went the extra mile to answer all our questions.
Very knowledgeable and pleasant your guide. Nice size group (8). xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The tour guide was very knowlegdable and could speak multiple languages. Her archeological knowledge gave us a great in depth background of the Minoan culture and Knossus marketplace. It was nice to finally get true skip the line tickets.
A guide here seems really needed as there’s little information for self-guided visits. We had a great guide but she gave our whole group a choice of queueing to get into the throne room or hearing her talk about the myths and I was disappointed by the collective choice (but I guess that’s the luck of the draw). It would be nice if a tour could specify that you will get to see the throne room and not just pictures of it.
Great information, transforms you back in time sort of. Knowledgeable guide. Well organized. Would recommend
Definitely worth having a tour guide at this sight. Our guide was wonderful - super knowledgeable about every part of the ruins. It was crowded so having skip the line tickets was great.
Everything was super well communicated, easy to find, and well coordinated for our family of 7. In addition, our guide was very knowledgeable, gave us a ton of backstory and history on the ruins, and was also mindful to help us avoid the main pack of people while keeping us in the shade. If you are into history and want to learn more about Knossos, ancient civilization, and the overall area of Crete, Greece, and the Mediterranean then I’d highly recommend!
It was a wonderful tour. We learned so much. Katerina, our guide, was very knowledgeable and personable. Though somewhat crowded, she managed to effectively navigate the ruins while delightfully weaving the story of Minoan civilization in Crete.
Wonderful guide, very knowledgeable and informative regarding the various archaeological excavations in Knossos and other Minoan sites. Would recommend.
We weren’t sure about going here, but glad we did. Our guide was very knowledgeable It was a nice small group, glad we did it.
Great tour. Would go on again. So much to see and learn and the guide was very knowledgeable. Best to go first thing in the morning
Absolutely amazing tour by Akrivi!! She was so knowledgeable about not just the details about the ruins but also related mythology and how contemporary theories regarding the palace weave together with historical ones. If she hosts a lecture series on this topic I would love to learn more!! So exciting!!
Great tour. Lots of history. Our guide was fantastic! I wish I could remember name. December was the time to go and enjoy this tour!
Our guide was excellent. She was an Archaeologist, an excavator and a tour guide. She showed images of the past and told us where to see the original artworks. I was so impressed with the brave Minoan women.
The Guide introduced herself as archaeologist. I bet, she isnt. At first, she has a far too strong home Bias which makes one unable too look without pre-judgement on outcommings that dont suit the expectations. thats simply no professional scientific mindset to do research. Secondly i asked her a question about similarities in findings -maybe figurines or something - in the knossos site as well as in goebekli tepe, that may whitness a connection of both the Societies, as both took place in the same period and were ruled maternal. She answered that maybe the minoans expanded to goebekli tepe...good one. Actual research dont support that thesis, which as archaeologist she should have known. Finally i am not sure, if the guidance was to explain the outcommings of scientific research or to just polish her home Bias-planted ego as her style of storytelling implicates the second Option.
The guide was knowledgeable and his English was good. We saw everything we wanted to. Knossos is a fabulous place.
15-17 Euro cab ride from downtown area to Knossos. crowded with many tours and other tourists. Katarina was what made the difference. She is an excavator working on the site and has a masters in Archeology. She had a very nice way of speaking that was captivating while informative. She did not just rattle off dates, but wove a wonderful story of the long History of Crete and the Minoan and Mycenaean cultures. The site itself is impressive, and well worth the time.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, as she is an archaeologist, and also a very good communicator. We would have missed so much interesting information if we had chosen to do a self guided tour!
I appreciated having a knowledgeable guide who could answer my questions. On the other hand, it was expensive and if I had to do it again I would research the site myself beforehand and provide my own tour.
The tour was very good and Giorgios was very clear and gave us all the explanations we needed as he had a broad knowledge of the minoic civilization
1. King Minos was neither a man nor a king. We learned the story behind Minos as a title instead of a person. And the ruling person was more likely a woman. 2. We learned how how nuggets of truth are hidden in the Greek myths. I learned so many things that I have to stop and write it all down. Maybe I can contact the guide to get a book!! 3. Learned about the Labrynth and the Minotaur 😉 4. We learned about the 4 windows that were used to mark the 4 seasons 5. We skipped all the lines!!! Yay!!Yaya!!! 6. We saw the trident symbol pointing the way to commerce areas. 7. We saw the double-headed axe (two triangles) as a sign of fertility and used in ceremonial areas. 8. We learned how to distinguish the old rock and the newer rock that was put up with concrete. 9. We saw the concrete beams recreated with wood forms to resemble the original wooden beams 10. We saw the ancient road which leads up to.. .the modern bus stop :-) 11. There are multiple layers of ruins rebuilt on top of older ruins. Truly a remarkable site!!
The guide was brilliant, and the convergence of scientific discovery, history and mythology was insightful. This is the second time I’ve done this tour and would do it again. The pace was perfect and the small group enabled questions to be answered.
We were so impressed with the scale of everything, multiple levels, countless rooms, massive storage jars. Our guide explained the function and significance of the site in addition to explaining the Minoan culture clearly and concisely. We learned so much it's hard to believe it only took 90 minutes out of our day.
Our guide was amazing. Very pleasant and very easy to understand and talk to. Enjoyed the location and the amazing history and site itself. But not worth the additional $60+ over ticket prices for the tour.
The guide was outstanding giving a very detailed history of the palace of Knossos along with the Minoans. She tied together Greek mythology as well in a storytelling manner. Highly recommend this tour
Our guide was fantastic and very knowledgeable and engaging - thank you for a memorable experience .
Katerina had so many stories about the history, but always tried to share in a way so we could visualize the city as a living place. Her enthusiasm added to the experience. Definitely worth having a guide instead of just looking at a ruin you don’t understand.
The tour guide was EXCELLENT! Highly recommend! But the Viator logistics were terrible. We were to meet the tour at the entrance. At 9am the entrance must have had 500+ people swarming around. No one could tell us where to go, who to talk to. We were 10 minutes late because of this.
Our tour guide-Akrivi was very knowledgeable and explained in the history timeline in detail. It was so interesting!
Katarina was absolutely brilliant as our guide! She pitched it at such an interesting level for us to learn more about the history of Knossos! It was enhanced by her well prepared visual aids and passion for the area. Katarina is incredibly knowledgeable and a lovely person to spend time with! Thank you for an enjoyable visit!
Since I had booked during the off-season, I was the sole person on a tour with Katarina, who was very engaging, knowledgeable and very passionate about Knossos. She could answer everything, as well as provide her own insights and ideas. Since Katarina is an archeologist and site excavator herself, she possesses vast knowledge about the palace, and of the Minoans. A true tomb raider! Thank you so much Katarina!
Akrivi was so wonderful. She had so much information to give us. So much more than expected. The time went by so quickly and the tour was very long. If we had a question, she knew the answers immediately. Her knowledge was more than just about the area but also about the history of the rounding countries and their people.
Very knowledgeable and engaged guide tour and small group made this tour a very worthwhile ecperience.
Archaeologist guide was wonderful. Excellent explanations of the various parts of this ancient Minoan palace.
Fantastic tour guide! Was very knowledgeable, often asked if we had any questions, and was personable. Loved hearing about how the actual history has inspired the myths we hear about today and where they came from. Recommend booking a tour earlier in the morning because the site gets very busy very quickly! Plenty of time for photo ops and appreciate getting skip the line tickets to avoid the long wait times for entry. Thank you and would definitely recommend this tour!
Great tour. Met our guide outside who had our tickets ready. She was really knowledgably about the site and answered all questions. She also knew where all the shade was so we could cool down!
The guide was knowledgeable and told us interesting facts that changed our whole perspective of the ancient world. We skipped the line and got right into the site without waiting.
Waiting in line inside Kronos Castle when Zi paid for no lines. Once you entered the castle we had to wait in line for 30 minutes until we blew it off and left.
The guide was highly knowledgeable and up to date. Articulate and gave a completely unexpected account of knossos. Remarkable.
Tour guide was extremely informative, and the ticket is good for the archaeological museum in the city for three days. Going afterwards to the museum was nice because I had a much better sense of what I was looking at. I learned a lot about pre-mycenaean minoan culture. This was one of the few tours that didn’t do hotel pickups, which is a plus for me—I would rather catch a cab or bus than add hours to a trip on driving around the city to grab people. The tour itself was only a couple of hours.
The guide was extremely intelligent and imparted knowledge based on archaelogical findings, explained myths vs science and was very respectful.
My tour guide, Arikey (female with paint splatter marks on her hat) was phenomenal!!! They don’t come any better. She’s an asset.
Excellent tour. Totally worth it! Knossos is great, but even better with a knowledgeable tour guide. Book this tour!
Our guide made history come alive. We were completely wowed. She was conscious of crowds and avoided them, finding us the best views. She also found nice shady spots. A well preserved site with lots to see. We had time at the end to wander as we wished.
the setting is gorgeous and the engineering of the palace, art, inscriptions, and history will blow your socks off! But, I think our guide made all the difference in the world. She was amazing, fun and quite knowledgeable blending the myths with actual history. Easily one of the best tours of the 5 we have taken around the Greeek Islands.
It was great to hear the tour guide explain the history and importance of this very historical site. She explained what it was like in the time of the ancient people who in habited this site. Which put it all in perspective. With great detail and fully narrated by our guide you fell back into time.
Really great tour! Akrivi was super knowledgeable and very friendly and really brought the history to life! The tour was really well structured with the mythology and history and Akrivi tied it all together in a really nice way at the end. It was great to be in a small group also as we were able to move around faster than the larger groups that were there and saw more of the indoor areas to take pictures. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Knossos!
This was a highlight of our trip. Akrivi was clearly passionate about the subject and really brought the place to life. It was clear that the pacing and order of information had been thought through to lead you from myths and more common knowledge deeper into the why and what behind the structures. She also discussed different iterations of discovery at the site what discoveries led to what assumptions about the people and site usage. Really great. She also made it easy to tell what was a reconstruction as well as what was under the site that you couldn’t see. It was easy to find them at the gate and the headphones worked well.
Great tour for the value. Well organized with Akrivi as our guide. She was an excellent communicator and we learned a lot from her. Would highly recommend. They also easily arranged transportation to/from the starting point.
