Our guide Akrivi was wonderful- very knowledgeable about Minoan culture, archeology and historical context. She was also a very engaging storyteller who help bring this amazing ancient civilization to life. I highly recommend doing both the visit to Knossos and them then the Heraklion museum to get a more complete picture.

Very informative tour guide and tour, with care to adjust what to see when to avoid long waits, as well as a great museum tour
Knossos is wonderful. It can be very hot. Heraklion museum. Is one of the best in the world. Transportation between Knossos and museum can be tricky. Our guide was a great help.
Our outdoor guide was incredible. It was a very hot day (June in a heat wave) and our guide took us through all the key spots and allowed us to take pictures before giving more detailed explanations in the shade. We had a small group, so it made navigating very easy. Our guide was very knowledgeable and tied in the mythology to actual events to piece everything together seamlessly. Very professional and experienced. We took the bus to the museum after, and due to heavy traffic, timing was tight. Our museum guide was quiet, but delightful and took us through the high points of Minoan society and artifacts.
Educational, engaging mix of history and mythology. So glad we booked small group tour
The tour was interesting and well organized. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and engaging. It was an easy checkin process. We enjoyed both tours immensely. She made history come to life and had a good sense of humor.
The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and cognizant of other people around us. She had great stories to share. I was extremely lucky and was the only person on the tour at the museum. She gave me an in-depth tour and then I took more time to look around on my own. You need to arrange your own transportation from Knosos to the museum.
Very happy to have booked this tour! Our guide Akrivi was extremely knowledgeable of the site and provided a great deal of information on the site and the history of Knosos, a true step back in time. The visit to the archeological museum with our guide after the palace was a great way to see many original pieces found during the excavation and put this whole day together. Highly recommend!
Eleni Vazakopoulou, from treasuresofcrete, was our guide. We were a family of 6, including two girls of 10 and 7, who are very interested in Greek Mythology. Eleni made the ruins of Knossos come alive for them as well as giving us all the historical information. The same was true of the museum. She also managed the day so we had a break for a meal and had activities for the girls. Even though it was a cold damp day it was fantastic and the highlight of our stay in Crete. I could not recommend Eleni more highly.
Good Day! We had the honor of listening & learning from Katarina!!! Her knowledge base is extraordinary! Her personality & how she engages us was exceptional! She was so funny & kept us entertained & interested the entire time! It was a lot of information! I want to learn & listen to Katarina again!!!! She made the trip to Knossos absolutely wonderful!!!!
Very good tour and guides at Knossos and the museum. There are guides available for hire at the entrance to Knossos as well. The museum is definitely worth it for those interested in history. You should be aware that all the tall structures, pillars and frescos at Knossos are reconstructions.
Great tour and Katerina was a wonderful guide! She was knowledgeable and managed our time extremely well.
Katarina was a fantastic tour guide that provided very good insight into the site and was extremely helpful in assisting getting to the museum back in town along with providing a very detailed and interesting tour
Our guide George was fantastic! He took us to both the palace as well as the museum. He was well prepare in all aspects, including how to avoid too much sun at the palace. I highly recommend this tour. I would’ve missed a lot trying to go without a guide.
We took a Half day Tour in Crete Greece, and had a Wonderful Time, I did have so.e limitations related Mobility issues and get around via Electric Wheelchair. We went to the Knossos Palace a d Sights around Town and were able to do some Shopping. We Enjoyed the Tour
My tour was hosted by Katherine, a local archaeologists with intimate knowledge of the site. I would definitely recommend joining her tour if you’re interested in history.
Absolutely worth it ! The meeting point was easy to find. Our guide AKRIVI took us one-and-a-half hour tour of the Knossos Palace. She was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions in a detailed and precise manner. A tour of Knossos is a must for anyone visiting Crete.
Our lady Tour guide was extremely informative and entertaining while she guided us through the different parts of the Palace.
I learned so much! Our guide was super knowledgeable and the tour was organized in such a way that it felt like we were walking through the myths into history. Absolutely outstanding, I’d give 10 stars if I could!
Excellent guide and well worth the tour to fully understand the site. Very well presented site but definitely go early before the crowds.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and also, accomodating. She told the history and the myths and how they complimented each other. We throughly enjoyed our visit to Knossos. We also did the self guided tour of the Archeological Museum and were able to see many of the artifacts referenced on our tour. Having a guide made the experience so much better.
Johana, our very knowledgeable and intelligent guide. We might like to discuss with her again if possible.
Joanna was amazing, what a wonderful experience through the old palace of Knossos. Even though there is not much left of it, she guided us in using our imagination and supplemented with detailed yet interesting information historically to help us learn more about this must-see in Crete.
The best guide we could find to learn all about Knossos!! Fantastic experience! Thank you for it!!!!
The visit is worth the ticket. The site size is so huge than the only thing you can think about is how much preservation work has been done and how much more is still to be done. Is also interesting how you can take some modern techniques as grated nowadays that they weren't plainly available some decades ago.
Be sure to go to the museum in Herakalon first. and have a guide who will show you the antiquities discovered on the site, and when you go to Knossos will be able to put them in context for you.
A few things to remember. 1) Bring cash so that you can get your entrence tickets. 2) You need transportation to and from each place. Including transportation from your hotel to the place. 3) Bring a snack because you may not have time to eat anything between tours. First I would like to say, it was quite easy to find our tour guide. They were very nice, efficient, and quick! Our guide was Illiana, she kept us moving out of big groups and had a wealth of knowledge! Since we are teachers, we loved the way she tied information together, made us think, and asked questions to broaden our prospective. The only reason we didn’t give it 6 stars is because the cost was a little steep. They could have at least gave us a ride to the next tour.
We visited Knossos first - saw the combined ticket for the palace and the museum which is excellent value. We did enjoyed the palace but felt some of the reconstruction was a step too far and the number of large guided tours made viewing everything not easy. That said it is a must do when in Crete. The museum is absolutely brilliant the number of artefacts is staggering and the rooms which you can follow in date order makes for an informative and enjoyable tour. You need about 2-3 hours for each location.
First, two important tips. First, they give a good concession to over 65s-but you need identification with you date of birth on before they give it! Secondly, they do a good deal on the Palace and museum combined, but do not let on that the museum is right through town, and in my view an awkward place to find and park if you have a car. We gave up in the end. So the palace itself..... lots of rocks, a few pillars and murals and some walls. Exciting if that’s your thing, otherwise a tad tedious. Oh, and it
There is an app with audio guide. I can recommend them. The tablets available at the entrance are unfortunately overpriced. ...or you can book a personal guide
The Knossos/Museum combination for a family was completely overpriced for what was actually on offer. The palace of Knossos is almost just a rubble field, with extreme snakes in front of the special sights. The museum is interesting, but since no transport was organized by the organizers, we had to drive by car to the museum and look for a parking space there for 1 hour. So stressful. Overall a disappointment.
Must see in creta- better to see than tell. I recommend taking tickets online to avoid queues.
Knossos must have seen, More interesting than truly beguiling. The Archaeological Museum is gorgeous: a modern building filled with the greatest treasures. They are still taught according to the latest museum pedagogy. This really needs to be looked at even more than Knossos.
It is really worth losing two days at sea, you can not miss to see the Heraklion museum, a real spectacle. You spend a day admiring all the display cases in which treasures of even 3000 years BC are kept, from vases to cups, not to mention jewels. Unfortunately little remains of the Palace of Knossos, but the remains and the few rooms that can be visited give an idea of the majesty of this site.
We booked the visit to Knossos and the museum through the operator in our hotel. Costs a bit more, but the transport is included, as well as no need to join the long queue and the Dutch-speaking guide for the whole day. Very nicely preserved domain and ruins (ca 3000 years old). The world of ancient Crete and King Minos has given us a very beautiful day. It is immeasurably hot, take plenty of water with you (shops are also always nearby). In the museum it is nice and fresh and shows a lot of excavated artifacts.
I found it very interesting, thanks to the guide that was conveyed to us by WeGuide on site. Since we also speak Russian, we took a Russian-speaking guide who was wonderful at bringing the dead stones to life. Otherwise it would have been rather boring, because you don't know what stories are behind the ruins, and you can't watch them either. Everything worked out wonderfully with the ticket. Thank you so much!
