Angie our tour guide was very knowledgeable about all aspects of Crete and Greece including great information about Greek mythology. Although the weather was not great we had a great day going to some of the key historical, geographical and cultural sites (Knossos, Cave of Zeus, Olive Oil factory and the Lasithi Plateau). Fully recommend particularly if you are in Rethymno area as Angie will pickup at your hotel.

This was a long tour but good, but not great. I think it just depends on your tour guide really. It was hard to hear at times but this place is a must.
Going on a tour to Europe alone to a country I haven't been to, given my past experiences, required a careful selection of whom to find for a guide to take me through the meaningful sites. I'm so glad I found Angie, especially since I was traveling solo to a place I was unfamiliar with and did not know any safe way to travel on my own. Angie loved to share her little desserts and talked about her life as a guide, and allowed me to know beyond what we could read online or in textbooks. While she isn't a licensed expert guide, she knows the area and industry well enough to share unique insights, local news, her take on the situation of Greece, and a local take on Crete. However, for in-depth real historic archaeological sites where you need an expert guide to walk you through, just ask Angie, and she can connect you with wonderful local expert guides who could tailor their detailed explanations of the sites according to your pace and time you have. I ran out of time, but I wish I had an extra hour at the Heraklion Archaeological Museum (well, I spent too much time at Knossos of course, admiring the details of the architecture and asking the expert guide so many questions). This experience with Angie and the expert guide really helped me segway into my ensuing trip with tour operator of mainland Greek sites. I feel like the one-day trip was not enough on Crete because I only covered half of the island, and not even some of the important sites (had to miss out on them). Anyway, the speculation of Atlantis being connected with the Minoan culture (vaguely remembered was someting to do with maritime commerce) was interesting too!
This is your one stop shop to visit wonderful highlights of the island and Aggi was beyond amazing. She helped us plan the rest of our days here and was so helpful with all the spots for today’s tour and all the highlights for the rest of our days in Crete. I would 10000% recommend. We had a teenager and a 9 year old and all the tour was just good for us all. Our family usually avoids any long trip but this did not feel like a full day and that is saying a lot for us. Just book it.
Tourism is a very competitive industry in Crete, so we did the research and succeeded in finding a guide among the best for a private day tour in the highlands around Heraklion. Angie is a very knowledgable and pleasant guide and she exceeded our expectations in every way.
The guided tour was exceptional. The guide drives you around Crete in a comfortable car, has snacks and water at hand and tells you about some of the most interesting history facts I heard about Crete and its ancient culture. I visited the island three times before, so I know a little bit myself, but I was still very impressed with some of the things I learned that day. We also tasted some of the best honey and olive oil Crete has to offer. We had a blast!
Our guide, Angie, was excellent. Very knowledgeable & had great stories for all places we visited!! We would highly recommend this tour with Angie.
Our day trip to Knossos Palace and the Cave of Zeus with Angie was absolutely fantastic! She was brilliant - knowledgeable, well-organised and made the day really special for us. The day was completely tailored to our needs and nothing was too much trouble. We were provided with snacks and water throughout the day too! We learnt so much about the island, its history and culture whilst experiencing spectacular views. Cannot recommend this tour highly enough. Well worth the money. Thank you so much again for such a wonderful experience.
A really warm welcome from Agge the minute she picked us up from the hotel. Her knowledge and enthusiasm for history was infectious. Travelling between sights she filled us with local knowledge. The lunch stop was traditional and fantastic. She pitched the day for every member of the family. Thank you Agge. 🤩
Everything about our time on the trip was excellent. Our guide was sensational - this excursion was the best part of our holiday! We learned lots and had a lot of fun.
We had the most amazing time on our tour of Knossos Palace and were able to move independently throughout with our “tablet map”! Following Knossos Palace, we were able to visit Heraklion Museum which held a majority of artifacts found at Knossos Palace, making it a perfect tour combination. Throughout our tour, Aggeliki gave amazing voice overs around the history and mythology of the area - her English is flawless! Can only recommend this tour, it was very professional, efficient, and tailored to exactly what we wanted!
I highly recommend you go on one of Aggelika's VIP Tours in Crete. Not only will you travel in an extremely comfortable and immaculate Mercedes to your destination, in our case Knossos, but you will have a very informative and interactive talk from Aggelika on your journey. When not presenting her formal guide talk, Aggelika is so very personable and chats freely and informally, I learnt so much about Greece and the island of Crete, something I am sure I would not have received from other tour guides. Thank you so much Aggelika for making what was a very interesting day, into a truly special and memorable one. Paul Marshall
Highly recommend this day tour! Aggeliki treated our group like we were her good friends and provided excellent background info for the historical sites we visited (we didn’t even need to read the museum plaques - we knew everything!). She finished our tour by taking us to a beautiful restaurant with delicious food and a great view of the sunset over the mountains. One of our favorite memories from our trip.
We booked Aggeliki’s services for a girls trip and it was the best decision. Honestly, the day we spent with her was the most memorable one of our entire trip. She reached out to us to introduce herself prior to our trip, so we can discuss any arrangements. She picked us up from our Airbnb, which was not in Heraklion. She is very knowledgeable and has great tips that made the tour so much fun. Furthermore, she took us to restaurant with delicious Greek food and beautiful view of the mountains. She’s detail oriented, very attentive and caring. Honestly, the way she took care of us made me feel like we’re party of her family. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TOUR!
Angie was fabulous, personable and knowledgeable. We loved everything about our time with her. She is proud of Crete.
I cannot express how awesome this tour was! Crete is such a beautiful island with so many wonderful places to visit and we couldn’t decide what to do first! We were searching for a tour and a guide that could accommodate our interests and oh boy were we lucky to find Angie! She drove us to so many places like the cave of Zeus, the plateau in Lasithi (with the windmills), a small traditional village known for the huge plane tree more than 1000 years old, the olive oil shop (I wish I had more room in my luggage!!) and last the Knossos ruins! I highly recommend this trip!!
This tour was fabulous!! We were so excited to visit Crete for the second time and couldn’t have found a better excursion, that combined history and culture! So happy that we booked this tour with Angie! We were amazed by her enthusiasm and knowledge! We couldn’t have asked for more!! We truly enjoyed everything!! Highly recommend this tour!
Crete was an absolutely amazinggg experience and choosing this tour made it 100x better! Angelina made our trip incredible from start to finish - she had everything organized for us without making us plan every detail, including booking tickets online for us for things we had no idea you needed tickets for to help us avoid the lines in museums, Knossos, etc. It cut down on our waiting time so much and allowed us to see even more of the region, culture, and history of Crete. The drive to every destination was comfortable and relaxing and safe. The scenery was breathtaking the whole way through. We LOVED our trip out here and it 100% would not have been the same without Angie as our guide. Highly highly recommend!!
We enjoyed this tour so much! Our guide, Angie, is the kindest woman with such attention to detail!! Her knowledge about the island is remarkable! We had a more personal experience since we weren’t a part of a group and my sister and I felt like VIP’s!! You should totally book this tour!!
This is a 5 star private tour for sure!! We went to Crete with my sister as a weekend getaway and we wanted a tour that explores as many places as possible! We picked this one and it was the best decision ever! We even booked another one for the next day with Angie to visit the south coast and we were so glad she was available in such short notice!! Words are not enough to describe this experience ,we were extremely happy with our choice,Angie was the best guide, but to be honest we felt she was more part of our group, she really did her best to make us feel comfortable and enjoy everything. Absolutely recommend that, don’t miss it he chance. Angie I cannot wait to come back and spend more time exploring the island with you!
My boyfriend and I were looking for a tour that could combine culture and nature at the same time and we were very happy that we found this tour online! We visited so many places like the cave of Zeus in Phychro, an olive oil shop where we tasted some amazing Cretan, olive oil and olive paste, a traditional restaurant for our lunch (still dreaming of that Mousaka), Knossos site, which is considered the oldest city in Europe, and the museum in the city. But the highlight of this tour was our guide! Angie made this an unforgettable experience with her knowledge of the island’s history, traditions, and her outgoing personality! Overall, it has been a tour to remember we highly recommend if you visit Crete!!
The best decision we made when planning our family trip to Crete was to book two days of touring with Your Cretan Local. We bonded with Angie from the moment we met. Her stories of Cretan history, culture, myths, food, etc., as well as her personal experiences growing up on the island, were fascinating. Our kids--aged 10 and 7--stayed engaged during our sometimes-lengthy rides to and from the various attractions. It was such a fun and easy way to tour the island in the comfort of her immaculate, air-conditioned van. On our first day together, we toured South Crete. After hiking the Kourtaliotiko Gorge and swimming under waterfalls in the (cold!) spring water, we spent a few magical hours jumping into the waters of the Libyan Sea at Kalypso Beach. We then had lunch at a traditional Cretan taverna, before heading to Spili village, where we visited the Folks Museum and drank raki. The kids ensured their return to the Crete by drinking from all the lion fountains in town square! On our second day together, we headed to Knossos, the ruins of a Minoan palace. We then headed to Lasithi Plateau, stopping for lunch at a gorgeous overlook. We hiked/rode donkeys to the cave of Psychro, which is said to be the birthplace of Zeus, visited an interactive Greek mythology museum, and made pottery that we brought back home! Angie went above and beyond to make our holiday special. We are so thankful to her and are dreaming about returning to Crete soon!
Great tour and the tour guide she is very knowledgeable about the local history, culture and customs of the island. She made us feel super welcomed.
We asked the reception in our hotel about tours to see specific places - they recommended Angie and it turned out to be a perfect arrangement! Angie planned the tour so that our grandchildren who are very interested in Greek mythology had a great time! Angie's extensive knowledge about Crete, its history and culture gave the tour an extra dimension that we all enjoyed very much. If you want a guide who is genuine and very professional - then Angie is the one! At the end of our stay in Crete, our grandchildren graded the private tour with Angie as the best day of our vacation!
This was so worth doing, angie is very knowledgeable about cretan history, mythology, legends and fun facts. I highly recommend this tour when visiting crete
If there were six stars available, we would give them. Angie was a great companion throughout the day. Very knowledgeable about the region and its history- she is definitely a proud Cretan! Angie immediately made us and our children (9, 12, 16) feel welcome and she connected with the family at all levels, making an effort with everyone. She traded facts with the children about Greek mythology all day, gave good advice about the sites we visited (Knossos Palace, Archeological Museum, Lasithi Plateau/Cave of Zeus) and waited patiently as we took our time at each. She also knows many of the local businesses and took us to her preferred places, where she was greeted as a friend, with that greeting extending then to us! Angie’s van was very comfortable and she drove very carefully, allowing for the fact that we had children in the car. We enjoyed her company so much that the 2 hour drive back to the hotel passed very quickly and we parted as friends! Thanks Angie from the whole family!
Crete was AMAZING! We were so lucky to have Angie with us. Right from the start she felt like family, she brought us a treat from her moms… So Tasty! She truly made our day with her special. So informative, knowledgeable and thoughtful. From Knossos to Zeus Cavern, stroll through the village, this amazing lunch spot,( I am still having dreams of my dish) life changing Olive Oil education (. Wish I brought more home). Angie is truly a CLASS ACT! Highly recommend her if you are going to Crete …. Angie, My family Thanks you 💕
It was a pleasure to book this private tour with Angie. We had a lot of fun. We visited the Cave of Zeus (a bit of hiking but totally worth it), tried local olive oil, drank some raki (the local drink, trust me, it's not water!), enjoyed lunch with a spectacular view of the plateau and at the end visited the archaeological site of Knossos! We really enjoyed this trip and the company of this amazing guide!
The holiday to Crete was an amazing experience and choosing this tour made it even better! We learned so much about the region, the culture and the history! The ride to each destination was so comfortable and enjoyable! The scenery is just breathtaking (my phone is full of photos 🤣) Angie is so professional and organized everything down to the last detail (she even bought us tickets online to avoid the long line at Knossos)!! Thank you Angie for making this day unforgettable
Angelina is a very nice and friendly woman. She explained everything to us in detail and knows a lot about the history of Crete. We felt very comfortable and are happy to have done this tour with her. She is highly recommended.
