Foodie Tour Heraklion

I booked this tour for the first day of my five day stay in Heraklion. I was the only person on this tour, so I had Magda as my personal guide. Lots of interesting and informative information on the history of Crete and local life in Heraklion. Stopped at lots of local cafes and restaurants and enjoyed some great food, particularly the roast lamb and the local sweets. Happy to recommend this tour. John K Adelaide, South Australia

We had a fabulous evening in Heraklion with Magda, the food and drinks in the cafes and restaurant we visited were all excellent. Magda was so friendly and full of fun that we felt like family by the end of the evening! So much so, we booked a whole day out with her later in our holiday to visit Elounda, Plaka, Spinalonga and Agios Nikolaos and had a wonderful time. Highly recommend Magda’s tours - you’ll have fun and laughter for sure as well as learning a lot about Crete!

Firstly Magda was 15 minutes late which was a bit worrying. Then it began, what a nightmare the whole thing was. We felt like we had joined a pub crawl. It was NOTHING like the photos or reviews. We tried a few common dishes and she told us a few facts which are well known. Magda and the conversation was very very unprofessional. Such a waste of money,

Great tour to do waiting the first few days of visiting a new city. The tour guide takes you around several places to tastes the local food and traditional dishes. While also pointing out historical points of interests.

Received a text from vendor cancelling the activity for my date. I received other texts asking me to reschedule. I declined. There were several other texts and emails indicating that I was expected to go. In every one, I confirmed that I was canceling in any case. Finally received text from an employee of vendor stating that I was expected. Once again I confirmed that I would NOT be going. I see that a credit card has been made. I will contest it.

What a great and enjoyable way to see Heraklion!. Magda our guide was wonderful, knowledgeable, fun, engaging and very helpful . This was a first class tour and I would definitely recommend others to try it.

Guide met us at our hotel, GDM Megaron in Herkalion, Crete. We began our walk with many interesting historical stories of this area. Our first stop was a small outdoor cafe serving us a healthy portion of meat and cheese pies. The second stop was across the old town area just inside the wall. We were served grilled lamb and fries, spaghetti in lamb broth and a Greek salad and a glass of wine. It was only the 2 of us and more than enough to enjoy . More history facts and legend stories and sites. Guide was very Knowledgeable and articulate! Last stop was a small bakery. We enjoyed baklava, galabourecko (sp?) and loukamadas the size of oranges smothered in local honey! ! Delish! If you have an opportunity and the time to spend, I recommend highly!!

Magda was fantastic! She curated the tour to meet my food & beverage interest. We did a beautiful walk on the Venetian Walls around the city. A favorite part of the tour was going off the beaten path out of the touristy areas and meeting some of the locals highly recommend. She’s totally upbeat in a ton of fun.

We had such a wonderful experience on our food and wine tour in Crete with Magda of Magda Luxury Crete! From the moment we met her, she made us feel like we were spending the day with family. Magda also went above and beyond by helping arrange a cab for us back to the cruise port, which we greatly appreciated. If you are visiting Crete and want a fun, personal, and authentic food and wine experience, we highly recommend Magda Luxury Crete. Magda truly made our day in Crete one of the highlights of our trip. We arrived as guests and left feeling like friends. Thank you, Magda, for such a memorable experience!

I did the Heraklion Foodie Tour with Magda. Magda was informative and also fun. She knows a lot of interesting places to go and eat, and is popular among the locals. It was a great and fun experience!

Our tour guide could not have been more lovely. It felt like you were with a friend that was so excited to show you there favorite parts of their home. All of the stops were tasty and interesting. The walk around the old town was gorgeous and showed so many different historical sites and books and cranies you may not explore on your own. Highly recommend.

We arrived in Chania but the tour was in Heraklion, which is 2 hours away. We were never ask what ship we were on and we did not realize the distance prior to our Princess ship arriving. We called and explain the situation and asked for a refund. We were rudely explain that we missed the 24 cancellation window (which is true) and it was our fault when we booked (again true). The real issue was we were never asked what ship we were on and never informed that there are two ports in Crete. A partial refund should have been provided (cost minus the food purchased in advance) but we were provide no options. After calling both the tour company and Viator we canceled the remaining tours we book based on the customer service we received. Buyer beware and please do your homework - we paid the price for not doing so.

Magda was an excellent tour guide. She took me to some great local spots with excellent food and we finished with a delish roasted lamb from the owners farm. I highly recommend this tour if you want great food, learn a little history and share wonderful camaraderie with this special lady.

Magda was the best guide!!! She knows the city very well, she accommodated my husband’s request for seafood instead of lamb, and was very personable and fun. We highly recommend this tour with Magda. Two thumbs up!

A lot of food! Two stops and the second stop had at least 8-9 plates of different dishes tapas style. More then I could eat, very friendly restaurant manager, guide was ok.

We had an amazing guide Magda and we learned so much about Crete and we sampled some very delicious authentic foods as we walked leisurely through Heraklion.

Magda is AWESOME! we ate so much amazing food, saw so many unique and historical sights. We went well off the tourist streets and got a real taste of Heraklon. Magda is HIGH ENERGY in a GREAT WAY. Come hungry and wear your walking shoes!!!

We had the most wonderful food tour with Magda. She was a perfect ambassador of Cretan hospitality, history and culture. She took us to places in Heraklion we may no have gone on our own, and the food…first, I’ve never eaten so much on a food tour and we usually take one in a every major city we visit. Secondly, Magda took us to places that had unique offerings that only a local would know. One of the restaurants served us lamb, sheep and pork raised from the owner’s farm in the mountains. And I loved that she encouraged us to eat with our hands. We were immersed into the Cretan culture for a day. Loved it!

Magda will take you to places you cannot find. She customized the tour to our tastes and explained the origin of the food and how the food reflects the changes that have taken place in Crete.

Crete Heraklion specifically was wonderful. We enjoyed tasting local cuisine. There was plenty to eat! The gelato was wonderful!

What an incredible experience with Magda! She is our new best friend! Magda truly made us feel truly special and provided us with the great history of Crete, as well as a truly amazing food experience. She is a tremendous host who wants to provide you the best culinary experience Crete has to offer. Our last stop, a sit down lunch at an amazing restaurant on the water included beer and wine, numerous appetizers to enjoy, and when we thought that was it, out came the entrees of fresh sea bass and mussels, capped off with amazing desserts. One of the best food tours we have ever experienced, and one of the highlights of our cruise through the Greek Isles! Book with Magda! You will not regret the experience

I would give this food tour 10 stars if I could. Magda is an excellent guide. We had so much food! All of the food was thoughtful and local to Crete. I love food history and Magda has a lot of insight on the history of Crete, culture and food traditions. We were with another couple so the size of our group was perfect and we got to make new friends.

We had a brilliant time with Magda who showed us all of the city that we had yet to explore. The food was brilliant. The quality was high and the variety was outstanding. Would highly recommend the tour to anyone.

This was a fantastic experience. Magda is so vibrant and energetic and gave us a wonderful evening seeing the sights of Heraklion and tasting lots of delicious food and wine! It was great to see local spots of Crete and Magda provided lots of information about the tow . She also helped us plan our itinerary for the next day with recommendations on activities and wineries. I definitely recommend doing this tour.

What an amazing experience! Our tour guide Magda gave us an unforgettable experience! We walked around Heraklion tasting amazing dishes, making memories and learning about the history and culture of Crete! I would recommend booking this tour if you love food and like hidden gems! Plus it gave an opportunity to engage with an amazing person. Food is culture and what better way to experience both!

You will not leave this experience hungry! Our hostess was so welcoming and warm. She was very knowledgeable and we truly had the best time.

We had an amazing food tour with Magda! She told us some history about each place we visited along with fun facts that kept our attention. The food stops were delicious and not places we would have known about. There was a great variety of sweet and savory. Magda had great energy that kept us engaged the whole time. My only regret was eating breakfast before the tour. I recommend going on an empty stomach!

What an amazing time with Magda today. This tour is a must-do only if you want to learn about local food, local culture, local people, local neighborhoods and most important the amazing Magda! One thing is important. Make sure this tour is done one your first day of arrival!!

This is the most fun we've had on a tour. We've done tours all over Europe and the Greek islands. Magda's passion for her country and her warm heart will guarantee you enjoy your tour. Spending time with her was absolutely Amaaaaazzzing

Magda is so engaging and a pleasure to be with, she is our new best friend! We had such a fun time eating great food and walking around town seeing sites along the way. This was our first day in Heraklion and was a great way to get to know the city. Would highly recommend!

Magda is a very outstanding guide and person. She knows the right spots and knows the history of Heraklion very well. I would recommend her 120%. She’s also very funny 😄 .
