Explore The White Mountains Of Crete

This was an amazing day driving up towards the top of the White Mountains. Our guide Jason made the day enjoyable with stories and history along the way. The views from the top are amazing and learning/seeing how the shepherd’s lived up there was very enlightening. The final leg of the journey was off-road and can be very bumpy. A very different type experience while on Crete.

This was a great day out. Our driver (Lena) was excellent. She was an expert driver and took safety very seriously. The route was brilliant with fantastic views from the White Mountains and a number of stops to learn about the history and area, which you would be unlikely to discover if you were travelling on your own. Even though exceptionally, we had rain, it did not detract from the enjoyment. We finished the tour with an excellent meal in a village taverna.

Fabulous trip driven by the very competent Louise. Lots of hairpin bends in a very comfortable Jeep. We had a delicious lunch.

From start to finish this was a brilliant day. Our guide was lovely and very knowledgable, the white mountains were stunning and the off road was great fun. The staff were very friendly and very safety conscious. The 4 x 4 we had was in very good condition. The day flew by and we got some amazing pictures high up in the mountains. We met some lovely people on the day and we would definately recommend using this company for not only this trip but also the others that they offer as they were so professional.

An amazing experience being taken up into the White Mountains in Crete with a knowledgeable guide - a great female driver who we called "Dave". Met a team of 5 Range Rovers that followed in convoy, stopping to show and tell us interesting things about the Mountain and the history, and ending with a superb lunch in a local taverna. The off road section of the drive was fantastic and "Dave" mastered the tricky muddy section with no problem!!

So informative and beautiful. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly and organized. The meal was delicious and the views were spectacular. Well worth it

The trip was good. Met my need to get out and see some countryside. The lunch was great. I would have given this a higher score but the driver, made a really inappropriate comment which tainted the whole experience. His facts were a little questionable but at one point, we was talking about his children and grandchild whom he visited once because in his opinion “children should be eaten while their heads are still soft”. What made this worse was that there were 2 kids in the vehicle, one of which was special needs and understood full well what he said. The car went silent and I told him how inappropriate that was…not sure he cared much.

Jason our driver picked us up from our Airbnb and was great at explaining lots about Cretan history and way of life. The views were magnificent as we climbed higher up into the mountains and the lunch at the taverna was delicious. We deliberately went on a day when the weather forecast was rainy and it was very windy and wet at the shepherd’s hut, but this didn’t spoil the day, although it would have been lovely to see the views on a clearer day. Highly recommended as a way of seeing a different side of Crete.

This is a great way to experience some of Crete's oldest traditions as you work your way out of the city and into the mountains. The drive is beautiful and you learn about the different growing conditions at different elevations. The food in the restaurant is delicious. Seeing how the Shepards lived and worked for so many years is super cool too. This is the second time I've done this tour. The first time was 10 years ago.

Great day which lets you see much more than just the beaches and tourist shops …. well paced, stops for photos, comfortable 4x4, interesting highlight was the old shepherds hut and lunch was excellent!

We had a good trip out into the mountains in a jeep car. It was nice to get off road and see some views in the mountains and go above 1000m above sea level to a shepherd's hut. There was quite a long gap of around 3 hours between coffee and lunch for a toilet break. The lunch was excellent at a traditional taverna. Greek salad, zucchini, aubergine stew, pork and potatoes and of course Raki afterwards. Overall it was a good and different way to spend the day.

Our tour started hy meeting John (Ioannis), you can tell how passionate he is about the island from his explainations of the history of the island its agriculture. At one point we had to change drivers as something came up. Our next driver was Panagiotis (Panos), sadly I got injured and hopefully this didn't leave some kind of trauma. They immediately organized themselves and help me out. They took me to a taverna near by where a van came to pick me up with a driver Manoulis , who bandaged my foot. He then rushed me to the hospital where they took x-rays and afterwards also helped us get to a pharmacy. Eventually he dropped us off at our residence. Truly altough I didn't finish the tour I think I have never met more helpful, kind and friendly people. Also I hope that Ioannis reads this you were greatly missed.

Our jeep tour through Crete’s White Mountains was the absolute BEST way to end our cruise trip! We booked through the cruise line and weren’t sure what to expect, but this exceeded our expectations by far. Jason, our guide, was incredible—funny, full of energy, and kept us laughing the whole time, while also being very knowledgeable about Cretan culture and history. The journey itself was amazing—we stopped in little towns along the way, learned about the life of a shepherd, and even saw millions of olive trees and herds of goats as we climbed higher into the mountains. The views from the top were simply breathtaking—pictures can’t even capture the “wow” of what we saw! Lunch was another highlight: a delicious three-course authentic meal paired with a shot of raki. The food was so good I wish I had the recipe—it was truly delightful! This tour was unforgettable from start to finish. Highly recommend it, and if you’re lucky enough to get Jason as your guide, you’re in for an incredible experience!

An excellent trip with Olga as our guide which we would thoroughly recommend. She was great fun, but also shared a lot of information about the Cretan traditions and way of life- very interesting throughout the whole day! The lunch stop was particularly good with a very generous and tasty three course meal. Thank you for a great day out.

We had a lovely day, Giannis our driver was fabulous, informative, friendly and funny. The views from the White Mountains are amazing , the shepherds hut was very interesting, the drive up in some parts are very bumpy, if you have a bad back, think twice. The Land Rover was fine and able to take the off road experience. We had a great group of 8 in the car. The coffee and lunch stops were lovely, the toilets very clean. We had a great time, so pleased we did it to see outside Chania, and would highly recommend it.

I can't thank the driver enough. Please pass on my thanks to him (I can't remember his name - but he'll remember the day because he tried to help someone who's car was overheating at the top of the mountain). He was by far the best driver and guide I've ever experienced on holiday. VERY knowledgeable. Very nice. Cracking jokes all the way. Only downside was one or two very immature people from Holland who kept making sarcastic responses and couldn't control themselves. He handled it well though. If you need me to send photo of driver, I can. I recommend this trip to anyone.

Lovely views, driver was friendly, food was ok. Marked down as the day we went it was so hot (even the drivers commented how hot it was), website clearly says 'Two Zones A/C Front & Rear', but there was no A/C in our vehicle, or most of the others we were in convoy with?? Also a little disconcerting, that when collecting people from various pick ups at the start, the driver was using Google maps off his phone, which was... resting on his thigh.

Very interesting and fun trip. Great guides. We learned a lot about Crete and creatian culture, and we saw some stunning scenerie.

Our driver, Olga, made this trip fantastic! The Land Rover travel was comfortable. The guests rotated seating to ensure that everyone had the off-road experience. We stopped along the trip to see the amazing views! The shepherds hit was very interesting. We enjoyed the delicious lunch, prepared by the shepherd’s family. Highly recommend this trip!

This tour was a great way to have the opportunity to see the White Mountains and be on the mountain without strenuous activity. No major hiking or biking required which is exactly what we were looking for. We had some great views from the mountain and learned a lot about Crete and the ways of the land. Olga was a great guide and she truly made it fun and exciting. The time in the car wasn’t too bad but we were prepared for it to be. There were plenty of stops along the way that broke up the sitting. We had a nice time on our tour.

Me and my son had a wonderful time. The stops were fun and interesting and the view from the mountain was phenomenal. Our guide Jason was so funny and gave us great information about the island and its history. Would recommend this trip to everyone

What an amazing time we had exploring the White Mountains on Crete! We were impressed with our guide, Olga, from the time she introduced herself. She is friendly, knowledgeable and, best of all, fun! Her expert driving skills were evident as she navigated the mountain terrain. We made a stop at a local shop and had the most delicious orange juice we’ve ever tasted and, later, had a wonderful lunch at a local restaurant. We learned so much about Crete from Olga! Thank you, Olga, for making our stop in Crete an unforgettable experience!

This is a day trip that anyone visiting Chania must add to their itinerary. We were fortunate to spend the day with Giannis,. most knowledgeable (and patient with our many questions) guide on the island of Crete.

A wonderful journey into Crete's traditional life. This touched modern Crete and then went into the villages of the mountains to see how it's been for centuries. Olga was a fantastic guide. Be aware that some of the mountain roads were rough.

My husband and I took the white mountain tour with Olga, and we were blown away by the experience. We were lucky enough to get a private tour since we came in March. Olga was a ton of fun, gave us incredible information, and recommendations for our stay in Chania. She took us to the most beautiful views, a shepherds hut, and the shepherd’s family restaurant, which was DIVINE. Don’t fear the drive, Olga is a true pro and made us feel very safe! Thanks to Olga we had a true 10/10 experience! She even took a ton of pictures for us and helped us get in the adventurers’ spirit. Thanks Olga!

It was a wonderful day with amazing views and smooth planning. The trip included interesting facts about Crete's history and culture. Everything matched the description, and the day ended with a tasty local meal, making it truly memorable.

I loved going through the little villages and seeing more of the way locals live. Our guide was an accomplished driver, fun, funny and a fountain of knowledge. The vehicle was perfect for type of roads and terrain we navigated. We went really high! The stops were lovely and the lunch delicious and traditional. It was a wonderful day.

This was the best trip we have had on Crete! The weather was perfect, the drive was amazing, the food and drinks were wonderful, but the most amazing part was our guide Olga! She gave us so much history, had the best energy, and was so much fun to be with! I highly recommend this tour! Great job!

The transport and driver were particularly good. We also enjoyed the lunch. Unfortunately at this time of year the shepherd and his sheep had already left their farm. It would have been nicer if the hut had been inhabited.

Excellent driver who took us up the “very” windy roads to 1350 above sea level. He provided great facts about the culture and area. I highly recommend Dimitris for a driver and guide.

This trip was amazing, so much to se and hear about on the road up to the mountains. But the thing that made it the best was our guide Olga! She had the most amazing aura and made us all a part of that. She put the last point in the review! Superb service from Louise and her colleagues. The day was very well-planned, with opportunities to learn about the White Mountains area, the local people and rural culture. The jeep was in top condition and Louise was a fantastic driver. She was also great company for those of us who who were her passengers. Highly recommended.

The site was easy to use and book on. All details were sent to me prior to the trip. The trip was amazing. The guides were all excellent and very knowledgeable, but I have to say Jason was the best- entertaining as well as everything else. The views were to die for, the food was excellent. The whole trip was excellent value for money and I would recommend it. I will definitely be using this company again.

Though the trip was titled, "Explore the White Mountains of Crete", we saw only some parts of it from a distance (mainly the apex). However, we visited a Shepherd's hut and his cattle were roaming happily, uncaged. We also learnt about the Shepherd's lifestyle and saw how cheese was made.

The guide Harris is very knowledgeable, professional, provided a lot of interesting details. He gave a lot of information about olive oil, different plants and flowers.

So glad we did the White Mountains tour, had such a great informative day while seeing the beautiful countryside of Crete, going places you couldn't otherwise access without the tour. Our guide Emmanuel picked us up promptly. After 2 more pick up stops, we headed inland and up - way up - into the mountains. The road is well paved except for the last few miles. I took a Bonine and managed the curves okay. Lunch was delicious and portions were generous to say the least. Our guide was very knowledgeable and spoke pretty good English, and he's also fluent in German.

Excellent fun day out in a comfy 4x4 with Aircon driving up and among the White Mountains. Very informative on local nature - it really is exceptionally green and lush, loaded with fruit trees, olives, vineyards and wild herbs. Interesting visit to a traditional shepherd's hut to meet the shepherd. Lunch in a nearby village was plentiful and very enjoyable. It makes a great change from the coast and it's very interesting to hear from a local about aspects of Cretan village life and traditions. Highly recommend. Our guide was really good.

Tour guides did a great job, wasnt even annoyed when I had to request an extra toilet-stop, very friendly. Loved trying the local cheese and lunch was delicious. What I would have loved: Time to explore villages, not only short stops to take pictures out of the car. The stop where we did get out of the car, in addition to the shepards hut and 1 view point, there was only 1 church and fresh water spring - nothing else to explore. We passed some cute villages and beautiful view points, where we would have had more sights and views to check out :) so that is a suggestion I would make to optimize :) rather see less places but have more time :) Overall I had a beautiful day :) Thank you!
