Knossos palace-Amazing history and the audio tour was very helpful. There are a lot of people and tours so getting there as early as possible is a good idea. Some shade for hot days but it has a lot of heat and sun as well. Audio tour allows you to go at your own pace or to do different sections out of order if a place is very busy

Itinerary
Throne RoomOne of the most visited areas in Knossos is the Throne Room where you can admire the replica of the Minoan throne and listen to the fascinating story of the woman who actually sat on the throne in order to discover if she was a queen or a priestess.
Tripartite Shrine: the Knossos’s main sanctuary where it was discovered, among others, the snake goddess who appears with exposed breasts that emphasized their femininity and sexuality and with costume ornamented with mythical beasts.
North lustral area: One of the most photographed sites in Knossos. According to archaeologist Sir Arthur Evans, anyone who arrived in Knossos by the north side had to purify himself during a ritual ceremony in order to enter the palatial area.

Booked an e ticket here on Trip Advisor on the morning of our visit to avoid the wait as advised on here. On arrival they refused to accept the ticket as we did not have a qr code. When I closely looked at the email sent to me by Clio Muse tours it said that the ticket would be sent the evening before the the visit. They accepted my payment for a same day ticket. If you book in advance through trip advisor be sure buy the ticket at least the day before. After some discussion they did let us in but refused to give us audio tours which we had paid for. There wasn’t much of a queue so if going off season just buy tickets on the gate. The site is impressive, but perhaps a little too restored as imagined by the archaeologists.
My audio stopped working after a few minutes. I contacted the company to get a refund and they said they would refund to the card that I used to purchase the tour. I sent back an email right away to say that I have a new credit card number, but I have heard nothing back. I tried to add my new card number on my Viator profile, but that page says " not available ".
Just get ticket not audiotour. It was a waste. Followed the hundred directions and had audiotour working before we went to the site and then nothing once there. Have a new iPhone and older android neither worked at site. Although line was long it moved better then WC line Just get tickets tours there if you must. Not worth the trouble
The overall site & visit was pretty amazing! The Queen’s area & some other areas were closed which was not noted at the entrance. The audio tour directions. therefore we’re sometimes difficult to follow. My friends especially enjoyed the written sections included in the audio tour. They felt these were more informative than the written plaques at the site.
It is an excellent site. The audio tour was very informative. There were sections that were closed off and thus the audio tour did not match. This was a little frustrating.
You've heard about it - if you've come to Crete you have to check this famous site out. It gets lots of visitors but the site is large so it didn't feel too crowded once the entry ticket is purchased. Lots of fascinating history and entertaining peacocks!
This is a warning to fellow travellers: Don't book this experience. It is a scam. We booked this earlier this week on 27th March 2023, received our digital tickets with QR codes, thought everything was fine, then turned up at Knossos Palace and were refused entry because our tickets had already been redeemed by someone else. The official Knossos Palace ticket office looked up our ticket code and found that it was part of a set of about 30 tickets that had been purchased in bulk by Clio Muse Tours in November 2022. These ticket codes had already been redeemed. It is an incredibly common experience, they said. So don't trust this company. The audio tour did work, but we wasted money and had to repurchase tickets at both Knossos Palace and the Heraklion Archaeological Museum. And you can't even get support from GetYourGuide, only ring Clio Muse Tours, a Greek number, and pay international calling charges. A scam. Avoid this experience.
An interesting tourist site. Well worth a visit. Parking is a challenge however manageable. Definitely worth buying online tickets before with an audio guide. We are out of season and the queue was still an hour long. With e-tickets we walked straight in
For all those interested in History, Archeology and Greece Myths this is a must-see site. Yes, over 100-year old “excavations and preservation” works conducted by Sir Arthur Evans are controversial today, but the is where you see this is not black and white. The tour guide (Poppy ?) was very knowledgeable and professional. It’s not easy to care for a buss of people in 90 degrees and share every detail of this archeological site, but she did it!
We ha a lovely time visiting the ruin. I found the frescos and the how much of the city was so preserved absolutely beautiful. The audio tour was very informative and I enjoyed it thoroughly.
The tickets and guide audio are texted and emailed immediately upon booking. Very user friendly. You can go at any time and skip the line into Knossos. Highly recommend this. We stayed about an hour although the audio is longer. It’s a great option if you want to see the ruins but not spend a full half day with a live guide. We enjoyed this trip a lot
Could not download the guidance audio it was 8 gigs and we tried three times used up a lot of our data plan
Had an amazing time trotting around the ancient palace. The audio guide was really useful in helping me discover the most important elements and stories behind this amazing place! The booking and ticketing process were seamless. Highly recommend this experience.
I had a great time touring around the Palace of Knossos. The audio tour was very detailed and structured filled with interesting facts about the place. I definitely recommend it!
"Palace of Knossos: Pre-booked e-Ticket and Audio Tour on Your Phone" makes it super easy to access the palace of Knossos, while offering remarkable tour content! I totally recommend it.
Overwhelmed by this experience! The palace, the amazing audio stories, the great app combined with the entry ticket - definitely worth it- I loved it!!!
The palace indicated it was open until 8pm but was told it was closed when we arrived at 6:40 pm. Since we had already purchased tickets they let us in till 7 pm. Either way the image of the palace on the site is the only recognizable structure to view. No artifacts and you would have to be very interested in this culture to get anything out of it. Disappointed for price as You can do a similar tour of the Acropolis for same price. 1 hour is all the time you need In my opinion
We have arrived to the place about 18, concious that the palace’s closure was 20 so we began to listen to the guide in order to maximaze our time there. First problem: the explaination seemed pretty good related but when you miss a word and try to pause the audio on the app, the cursor block the screen on the wrong paragraph… Eventually, personell of the spot begun to rush us to finish the visit at 19, making us to miss pratically all the storytelling, terrible.
Awful. Very Expensive for basically nothing to see. Lots roped off. Big queues. Damaged toilets. Just very over priced for the experience in general. Wouldn’t recommend.
Palace poorly laid out and explained. Overcrowded with bus loads. Clio Muse a disaster - long winded, over much minutia with no context. Switched it off after first “story”
Easy booking and ticketing. Friendly local guides whom are available in many languages. Would do this again!
What can i say ? . . . . Not too much because . . . . What is ancient and original, and what is reconstructed ? No guidance as to what at all. I got the distinct impression we were looking at times at stonework reconstructed a very short while ago, hence the fresh looking cement. I also felt no connection with the past, no sense of what went on here and why it had come about. Lack of signs/directions and to find your way along, leading to us walking a few times to roped off dead ends. Overall completely uninspiring and not worth €15.
I had thought, when booking the tour, to be given a standard "go here, look at this, listen to the history of it" tour. That was not the case! The Clio tour is in fact more concerned with a general background of the period and people, and so it is better to view the palace at your own pace while listening as you walk. The background detail given is certainly interesting and I felt we had something that other visitors were not experiencing. My only criticism is that the Android app didn't auto-play so I had to keep manually starting the next part of the tour as I moved around. For the castle itself, well there isn't much of it left but it's an interesting place anyway. It is a little tourist-driven and there are more historic places in Crete but it's not expensive and it's a fun morning out anyway. If only Heraklion wasn't such a horrible area to drive in!
Couldn't get tickets. Audio wouldn't download. So no sound, no information.poor effort. viator on line very difficult.
Not our first time at Knossos, the archeological park is an astonishing experience that cannot be missed...remains are very very interesting and hours could be spent browsing around. Organisation of the site instead remains rather poor and not aligned with the beauty of Knossos palace. Moving around the site is not easy with poor signaling and not a very extensive explanation/description signposts. In any case...a must see place.
There was no audio with the tour even though it stated that there was. Skipping the queue was great but I bought it for the audio so was very disappointed when there was none
I highly recommend going to Knossos but don’t waste your money €26/adult) on this skip the line audio tour. 1. If you have kids, you have to Q to get the free kids tickets anyway and the Q isn’t even that long. 2. The audio app wasn’t very interesting and not easy to follow at the site (ie. It isn’t signposted along with each part of the site like regular audio tours). I would recommend instead buying the €16 Knossos + Heraklion archaeological museum ticket. I would also get a Knossos tour Guide as the site itself isn’t well signposted or explained (obviously to keep the tour guides in jobs ;-), and it’s hard to really get the full understanding of the place without some explanation.
Easy way to see a popular attraction. Audio tour was difficult to download, but informative. Would definitely recommend. Also, you do not have to go exactly at the time listed on your ticket. My ticket said 0900, got there at 0815, and they let us in no problem!
We all talk about the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. But we forget about the Minoans! So much history and culture that goes unspoken about! You really should go ... two hours well spent!
The app and its content are fine - if you have some background in archaeology, you can easily do without it, though. The skip the line is the real asset, but only when you come during crowded times, and only if you are either without kids or paid for them in full already. If you go there right when they open, you will most likely be first anyway and can just buy tickets at the counter - you need to visit the counter anyway if you want to enjoy free tickets for your kids, so the skip the line wont help you with that.
App is fine but content isn’t interesting . The “skip the line” is merely an online ticket you can purchase directly on the Knossos website . So, save yourself some money and buy direct.
It was a very interesting site, and the guided tour and skip the line tickets worked out well. Highly recommended!
It is hot so don't forget a hat/cap and some water but the visit is quite quick (count on 1 hour with the audio guide), magnificent panorama and very informative visit.
This activity is stealing. Already I could never access my 2 tickets because impossible to download. I came to the place with the reservation number but the cashier never wanted to validate. 35 euros per TripAdvisor while on site it is 20 euros. I had to buy my tickets there.
An amazing archaeological site that helps to give context and to create an emotional connection to the Minoan civilization before the visit (also "mandatory") to the Heraclion Archaeological Museum. It needs some kind of guide, but it’s easy to hire one at the entrance (at least in late May). We chose this audio guide that perfectly served its function. We noticed that other people’s guides gave slightly more information, but frankly for us the audio guide was more than enough. I
Knossos was interesting, but since parts of the palace and the purchased tour were not accessible, the audio tour could not be followed coherently. Also, the directions were sometimes not always so easy.
No hay señal de internet por lo tanto no hay ubicación para saber que estamos viendo, no me gusto en lo absoluto
If you are under 25 years old do not buy this Service, as admission is free. It doesn't tell you that here to charge you whatever age you are. On the other hand, early entry is useless, there are hardly any queues.
We went there around 10am and had booked our tickets. Given the queue at the entrance when we arrived, I confirm that we did well. Nice and very interesting places. Too bad some places are currently closed for renovation.
The palace is pretty. Problem is, we made the reservation online with the audio description, out, it was only available in English. As a result, we did not necessarily understand the palace which remains a shame.
Don't go through TripAdvisor to buy your tickets. This is a scam! In fact it only offers you one option which is the ticket with audio guide (you are obliged to take the audio guide) and in addition there is only English so even if you do not understand English you have to take this ticket. And it adds 15€ on the ticket price for that. In total for two it cost us 53 € while the ticket on site costs only 15 € per person, except that you have to queue a little. Otherwise there are other sites that sold the ticket but we wanted to trust trip advisor but big mistake. The Customer Service is also the shit that tells us it was mentioned....after several exchanges she offers us if the ticket was not used to refund us only partially.... Anyway, don't buy here.
We went to Knossos from Heraklion via bus line 2. When we arrived there, we thought we would find not only the palace but also a small village or other to visit but none of that. Then we decided to visit the palace without really knowing what to expect. But considering the price (15€/pp in season) we are looking at something extraordinary. This was absolutely not the case. We went around the ruins in 1 hour and apart from a small restaurant and souvenir shop, there was nothing. We found the price excessively high for what little to see/do. The site is still very beautiful, but not worth 15€.
Mancava la guida in italiano, non era ben chiaro il tour con i numeri sparsi. Troppo poco per 27 euro
It is a beauty of those that must see in life, I recommend you go first thing, especially if you go in summer. It has a very spacious free parking and can also be reached by public transport from Heraklion. I really liked him.
I would say the stage is mandatory, also because it is not every day to see and imagine the history of the Greeks. I would say well maintained, well explained the route, with some shaded areas, very useful in this period. There's a bit of a queue , if you don't have a skip the line, but you are Covered by the sun... 15 euros admission, convenient for under 24s... who enter for free... just show a document (... as in Italy .. )
Frankly for the price it's to flee, catch tourist, the bar is overpriced. To see what we saw so much not going there, there is nothing to see it takes a lot of imagination to get an idea there is almost nothing left. The little to see is reconstruct.
Expensive souvenir places, and the food in the surrounding area leaves much to be desired. Cheaper in the capital, and many more options and quality.
