Our guide was exceptional. She was knowledgeable, friendly, courteous and humble. We loved her. Her name was Tatiana.

Itinerary
We’ll start our walk from Hill of Prophet Elias. There’s a great view over the city from one side and blue waves and White Mountains on the other.
The Holy Trinity (Agia Triada) Monastery is probably the most impressive monastic complex of the final period of Venetian rule on Crete, due to both its scale and architectural form. The monastery Agia Triada lies surrounded by large fields planted with olive groves, vineyards, and cypress trees in the northeast area of the Akrotiri peninsula.
We’ll walk to Old Market, which is considered one of the best in Europe. The saying “Greece has everything” turns out to be true here. Local produce, honey, tea and coffee, seafood and fish. Find something unique here to take home as a memory or as a gift.
Chania is the most beautiful city of Crete with rich history and amazing architecture. It's deeply connected with Greek, Venetian, and Turkish heritage. We invite you to see it's most famous places as well as a couple of hidden gems that will show you real Crete.

Buyer beware!! Tour was good but we were double charged and after multiple polite requests for reimbursement of the double charge we must now warn others
Great tour guide and driver. We learned a lot. They were very accommodating of our older party as well as 20 month old. We really enjoyed it
Tatiana was very knowledgeable and provided great insights. The monastery was definitely worth spending time at and appreciating the history. Old town was beautiful
Our guide, Maria Kyvernitaki, was spectacular. Extremely knowledgeable, very informative, excellent communication skills, and overwhelmingly charming. She truly enhanced our one day trip to Chania. We highly recommend her. Her contact: antigoni.sofokli@gmail.com
Tati’s very nice person and explain all to us We went to palazzo take lunch and it was incredible every thing was perfect
Stella was amazing she brought Chania to life for us. We only had one day and we are so happy we chose this tour. We visited monasteries, the harbor, fun shops got a true flavor in just one day.
Driver and tour guide were flexible and accommodating. Extremely knowledgeable about historical and cultural facts. Michalis was a great driver. He was hospitable and knowledgeable. Maria used a microphone which made sure people in the back could hear. Highly recommend!!!! We had 10 people in our group and they took an interest in us and what we wanted to get out of the tour. Perfect day in Chania!!
This was our first time booking thru Viator, and it was a very good experience. Our guide was so knowledgeable, but also very personable and friendly. We loved our tour of the monastery and the Old Port of Chania. So glad we made this booking!
Our guide Maria and driver Michelas were great. Maria was knowledgeable and courteous. We visited the awesome Monastery at the top of the hill and at the end of the tour, we mentioned that we may want to have lunch at the old town, our nice driver Michelas offered to come pick us up after we were done although he was not obligated to drive us back to the port. He left his number and told us to call him whenever we were done with lunch and strolling around the old town. He was great!!!
Amazing guide, clean and air conditioned vehicle, highly recommended tour that covers the major highlights.
Fantastic Tour. they picked us up at the cruise ship in a beautiful van with water and AC. Visited several churches, amazing views of Crete and then was dropped off at the Old town for some shopping and lunch. The Tour guide was excellent. Would definitely book again!
Maria was exceptional in all ways including: her knowledge and delivery of it, her punctuality, her warmth and friendliness and more❣️
It was a perfect place to experience a bit of "old and traditional Greece". We only had a couple of hours here, as did not have enough time. But we would love to come back again and admire the view, take a stroll on the promenade, eat in one of the wonderful restaurants and generally enjoy the atmoshere.
This tour operator is an excellent communicator, and he delivers This tour was the best of our two weeks in the Mediterranean. Our driver, George, was careful and caring. An immaculate vehicle with cold water and comfortable seats. Pick up and drop off steps from our ship. Our guide, Tatiana, was engaging, informative, and responsive to our questions and desires. The entire day was a deep dive into Crete's history, customs, and environment. Seven hours of fun, factual information, and gorgeous scenery. We felt a bond with every aspect of Crete. Do not miss this one!
10/10!! We enjoyed a lovely day in Crete thanks to Tatiana. She is incredibly thoughtful and kind and possesses a deep understanding of the history and landscape of Chania. So grateful for the very rich experience she provided for us. Book this tour. Highly recommend!
Nice little town with an old port and ruins by the sea. We strolled in the old village and bought souvenirs then ate dinner. We had to go back to our Villa 2hrs drive before dark so we didn't have time to enjoy the evening there. It's nice to stop by for a few hours or spend a day or two in it.
Would not recommend. Guide was very knowledgeable but not personable and difficult to understand. My children were very bored the entire time and he did not even attempt to engage them. We had way too much time in the old town portion of the tour and he just walked us around in circles.
Great private tour! Our host and driver were so gracious and informative. Would definitely recommend to anyone who visits Crete.
Chris, the guide, and the driver met us at the dock with a comfortable 8 seater van. Chris was knowledgeable about the history and the archeological sights and shared loads of information. We had a nice mix of both history and shopping so all interests were met. There is flexibility in the tour so if there is something special that you want to see, it can be accommodated. It was a lovely day!
Our tour of Crete and Chania was very informative and fun thanks to our tour guide Stella . She allowed us to change things up and enjoy a wonderful lunch along the port in Chania . Not a lot to see in Crete but this tour with Stella was worth it .
Great tour to see all the main attactions in Chania. Our tour guide spoke well and tooks us to see what interested us. We started with the monastery, then onto a lookout and then the market and waterfront. It was a great way to visit Chania.
Wonderful tour! The monastery and Hill of Prophet Elijah were great stops off the usual tourist path. Old Town was enjoyable to walk around, shop, and eat. What made our tour extra special was our guide Maria. She was outstanding! Courteous, extremely knowledgeable, and flexible. And Viator was helpful, too, when we needed to delay our pickup time an hour. We highly recommend this tour and Maria!
Stella was a great tour guide. She allowed us to travel and sight see at our own pace and provided a lot of information. My husband is handicapped and Stella and our driver were extremely attentive to making sure he was included.
Beautiful old city, old harbour front with many restaurants and views of the beautiful old buildings. Nice pedestrian streets with many leather, jewelry and ceramic shops. Walk further into old town and find various brand stores. Easy and inexpensive transport by bus to/from center.
Loved how are wonderful guide Gabby took us to more the back streets and less touristy areas of the Old Town. She was extremely knowledgeable about everywhere we visited and very cognizant of our needs. The luxury vehicle was excellent and they met us where specified. Highly recommend.
Our guide was wonderful! He was patient and allowed us plenty of time for photos. He even assisted us in the market by helping with our bags. Would highly recommend this tour company.
Chania is a genuinely nice little old town, crossed by many historical influences. The old port looks nice and clean and offers a beautiful view of the city. We walk without maps and enjoy the old buildings. Loved the narrow streets of the Jewish quarter, the mosques and, of course, the old churches. Start in the morning when it is still nice and cold and finish your visit with a nice lunch at a small taverne or at one with a view in the port.
Beautiful places to visit ... the old town is amazing as well as the prophets Elia church... amazing scenery and the old harbor beautiful. Highly recommended to visit.
Maria was great! She is so pleasant and truly enjoys sharing her knowledge and experiences of life in Chania.
We had a lovely day with Katerina! This was the 5th tour on our cruise so we were all a little tired. Katerina customized the tour to our needs and went easy on the walking. We also ended a bit early which she didn’t mind doing for us. The mini van was very comfortable and the driver was always right there to pick us up. The stops were interesting and Katerina was full of knowledge about them. She’s also a talented singer! We enjoyed the shops and stopped at a few places—something you can only do on a private tour. I really liked how all of the time was ours. I would highly recommend this tour!
A really cozy city, with many small streets and stalls. If you stay away from the harbor, the prices also seem a lot more accatable. There are at least 3 free public toilets that are cleaned after each use 👍
A very contradictory place, but one should definitely have entered once when visiting Crete. Undoubtedly: Standing on the shores of the Venetian port, you can see a fantastic ensemble of buildings of different types and styles. But there are already contradictions here. Because if you don't make your visit very early, you'll have problems with people. Delivery vehicles are already on the way at the early morning, driving pedestrians away in a rather impetuous and reckless manner. The owners and servants of the countless dining establishments, who are approaching with a little delay, in turn help to make a contemplative view of the Venetian port completely impossible. However, an escape to one of the numerous narrow streets that form a very interesting labyrinth of large scale here does not solve the problem either. Because: Here too, numerous people are already present, some of whom even deliver sluggish objects for the innkeepers on the shore. During the morning, streams of tourists and also the people living here ensure that chaotic conditions stop in this old town. The latter then last into the night. What is particularly annoying here is that tugboats slow down the passing people in front of their restaurants, causing traffic jams. It is also worth mentioning that people who know how to use this narrowness in the old town for themselves also operate in these crowds. We were here for the first time in 1975 and have noticed a worrying development since 2000. Conclusion: Xaniá is the classic case of overtourism and a place we will not visit again between June and September.
Beautiful old town located directly by the sea. A variety of restaurants, small streets and shops invite you to explore
Lovely architecture. So cosy to live in this city. Delicious food, nice shops and down in the harbor there was a vibrant life from early to late. Recommended
Az egyik legszebb kis város Krétán. Hangulatos óváros, pazar tengerpart, szép kilátás az erődből, kellemes éttermek. Ha nem is itt szállsz meg, akkor is érdemes pár órát eltölteni itt.
Beautiful old town and atmospheric Venetian port with beautiful lighthouse and plenty of cafes and restuarants. The small streets invite you to go shopping. Don't miss it!
The ancient center of Chania is certainly to be visited calmly in order to appreciate both the historical aspects and the numerous attractions given by the many shops of high taste while being, some, typically touristic. The Central Market, the historic Covered Market, the Agora of the city, was explained to me that at the beginning it characterized the main commercial life of the town. Unfortunately I have not yet been able to visit it inside.
