Petro was on time and was very courteous. It was raining and he had the detail to bring extra umbrellas for us. He took care to make us feel comfortable and drove safely. He is very knowledgeable and at the end took us to a surprise treat. Nice detail! I would take another excursion with him without hesitation. Highly recommended.

Sander was an excellent tour guide. He let us choose the pace. He carried us up into a beautiful gorge. It was a wonderful tour!
Buyers be aware you are spending $500 for a glorified taxi. More than half of the tour you have to do on our own because the vehicle and the guide are unable to accompany you through the old town. Our guide was quite aggressive and some conversation got uncomfortable. Other guides may be great, but ours didn’t even know what our stops were within the city and couldn’t advise us where to go. The price for only 2 stops being guided is not worth the $500.
Peter was amazing. Communication was incredible. The extra into the mountains was so fun. 10 out of 10! Peter is the best!
Petro was so knowledgeable and engaging. He educated us on the history of Chania and showed us the town. We had the best time. I highly recommend this tour!
This tour was Great, and George was just fabulous. His knowledge of the area and history of Chania was second to none. As a private tour, he catered for our individual needs, and gave us super recommendations of places to visit in “the old town”. Thank you George, we thoroughly enjoyed our time with you.
Petro was a great guide and was very knowledgeable about the history of Chania. He was very accommodating to our needs and explained the history of the region thoroughly. At 6’9”, he was easy to spot on pickup. We had a great time visiting Chania and can’t wait to go back.
My family of six adults took two tours, one with George (educated in Britain, and one with Peter (educated in South Carolina). Each brother was stellar, completely fluent in English (although the difference in their accents was hilarious) and thoroughly knowledgeable in the varied history of this storied and complex place. They were each perfect gentlemen, patient, helpful, and generous with their time and expertise. They answered every question and enriched the experience beyond all expectations. We hope to return and take more excursions with them in the future.
A great tour! Peter was professional, knowledgeable, and prompt. His tour was a good combination of historical sights, free time for shopping, and a great recommendation for lunch. Thank you Peter! Don H & Friends
This is an exceptional excursion! Nikos was so kind and knowledgeable of the island. He made us feel like we were family. I walk using a walker and he did everything to make me feel comfortable. I would recommend this tour to anyone.
George “the tall guy” was a great guide. He is obviously well educated in history and politics and we learned quite a bit about the wars and current military installations in Crete. The church atop the hill was inspirational. The mostly self guided tour of the Venetian portion of Chania was great because George told us what not to miss and arranged for an oil, balsamic, raki, honey and nut butter tasting which was fantastic. We ended up buying a bunch of items because we knew how good it tasted. We purchased beautiful linens. After viewing outside and inside the walls of the old city, we toured some additional beaches. It’s cool now but the water was calm and shallow. It’s perfect for when it’s hot out. I’d highly recommend a tour with George because he customized it to meet our expectations.
Thank you George for a GREAT day! The downtown of Chania was better than we ever thought as were the shops you brought us to run by 4th generation family. The scenery, the ruins, the love of your town that you gave to us was priceless. Do not miss this tour with George!
My wife and I and our friends from Toronto had a very nice day in Chania with our driver Peter!! He was terrific and extremely nice but most of all very well versed and knowledgeable!! The excursion for the day was very well worth the time. We would highly recommend Peter and or his brother to go on tour with!! A+++ Tour!! Thank you…. Phil and Cheryl Atlanta Ga!!
George was extremely knowledgeable about the island and history. He drove us to the important historical stops as well as gave us time on our own to visit recommended shops and restaurants. He was my favorite tour guide amongst all our cruise stops.
Our tour of Old Town Chania with Elsa was great! She is delightful, knowledgeable, and ever so passionate about Chania. I would highly recommend taking her tour. You won't be disappointed.
My family spent the day exploring Chania with George. Since we were in a small van, we were able to get very close to many sites instead of parking and walking long distances. George provided lots of information about each site and more information between sites. We left feeling we had seen the major sites and gotten a taste of daily life in Chania. George was well informed on world events and was able to compare/contrast Greece and the US (our home). Much appreciated and would recommend!
George was extremely professional and accommodating during our tour of Chania the old town and the surrounding mountainside. It was a wonderful and memorable experience as we visited many well-known tourist spots as well as some hidden gems. He is passionate about his country and has great knowledge and experience; he shared a lot of fascinating history and cultural insights. We all found the tour informative and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Additionally, George arranged for us to have a lovely lunch at a restaurant in the mountainside, there was so much to eat and very reasonably priced. It was a great end to a most enjoyable tour. I would highly recommend George and I intend to return to Crete and would happily reach out to George again to explore all the places we didn't have time to visit.
George was amazing and a wealth of knowledge. It is very apparent he loves his city, country, and what he does. We absolutely loved this tour and learning about his town. He gave amazing recommendations when we were in the Old City and we loved every minute of it.
Petros was informative and pleasant. Our small group thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It quickly acclimated us to our surroundings and the opportunities to be explored in Old Town Chania!
Our guide George was wonderful. He is friendly, well educated, travelled extensively, soft spoken and funny. He did not stop talking about various topics, on culture, traditions, nature, economics, politics, basketball, and so much more. He could make comparison between Greece, Europe, the US and the world and has a good understanding of current events (he studied Modern history and politics and has two MAs). This is not a history tour, boring with dates and events. It was extremely interesting, and we still visited the monuments and highlights of Chania old town. He was patient with us and stopped at shops to see and taste local products. We also visited the Commonwealth Cemetery from WW2 which was very moving. He responded to messages quickly, was punctual and flexible to our requests and our slow pace as we were a group of six older adults over the age of 60. I would highly recommend George and his company Niriis Tours.
Petro took us on a wonderful tour of Chania from our cruise ship. Went at our pace, knew so much about the area! Highly recommend
Petros was a great guide with tons of knowledgeable information about all the archeological sites. It was a little more walking than I had imagined but it was a good tour. We loved Petros.
It was excellent highly recommended. Our tour guide was the best. Her name was Elsa She was very intelligent and had a good bit of knowledge and showed us the historical as well as the quaint streets.
This was a great tour. George was very knowledgeable, friendly, and an all around great guide. I would definitely recommend.
George was delightful, knowledgeable and very accommodating for our small group. We very much enjoyed getting such in depth historical information while on our tour. We also enjoyed an olive oil/honey tasting which was delicious and unexpected. George comes highly, highly recommended. 10 thumbs up 👍🏻
George is an excellent guide. He showed us around the old town of chania and even took us to the gorge for an amazing lunch. He is very knowledgeable and friendly. The best tour guide in all of Greece . Would recommend 100%
Great tour, you get to see things that no other tours will show you. The guide Petro is connected to the city and a wealth of knowledge about the area and it's history.
Excellent tour of Old Town Chania and surrounding area! The team was flexible in handling our situation of a last minute change in our arrival port. Zoe was also wonderful in working with mobility limitations of one of our family. Petros and Zoe were both very knowledgeable about Chania and we thoroughly enjoyed our tour and time in Crete!
We highly recommend this tour. There is so much history in Chania that we would never have known but for our tour. Peter was a fabulous tour guide!
Our guide’s name was George. He was the perfect fit for our family. He is very knowledgeable of Chania, Crete, and the surrounding areas. We learned so much about the history of Crete! Our tour was perfect!
Petro was a fantastic tour guide. He went out of his way to explain the history of Chania in depth and took us on a very thorough walking tour of the city. Would highly recommend Petro!
Don’t miss this tour if you are Chania. Our guide George was the most knowledgeable historian we have met while in Europe. He took us to all the best spots and was so interesting to learn from.
Petro was simply fantastic!! His insight and knowledge was excellent and kept us all engaged. We were all impressed with the city and its history. The pace of the walking tour was perfect. Lunch was perfect with a local connection. I would highly recommend this tour!
Petro was simply fantastic! His insight and knowledge was excellent and kept us all engaged. We were all so impressed with the city and the history. The pace of the walking tour was perfect. Lunch was terrific! I would highly recommend this tour. Yes!
great walking tour of Chania old town . peter was very knowledgeable and fun. He also gave us some great recommendations for the rest of our time on Crete.
Petro was simply the best! Great tour, lunch, and conversation. Lunch was the highlight of the day with super authentic and delicious food!
Our guide Petros gave us a comprehensive tour of Old Town and it's many landmarks. Of all our stops in Greece, this tour in Chania has been my favorite. A beautiful, Mediterranean town with a rich history Petros did such a wonderfull job of describing. Picturesque alleys and stunning waterfront I couldn't get enough pictures of. I highly recommend this tour! 🌞
We had a great tour with Petros. He picked us up from our cruise port and very nice and friendly. We had rain while we were there, but Petros knew how to make the best of our day without getting very damp. Chania was a charming town to visit. We enjoyed the Shops that he gave us time to shop in, and he offered to take photos of all our memorable stops.
We had a great tour with Petros! He communicated well with us before our arrival. The tour was very interesting and informative. Petros knows his history very well. He was very helpful in pointing out the best restrooms to use and even took us to a local grocery store to grab some local snacks. I highly recommend this company!
Quite a bit of walking over sometimes uneven streets, but well worth it! George was a wonderful tour guide and excellent driver.
We wish to express our sincere thanks to George at Niriis Tours for matching us up with Chrysanthi as our tour guide. Her knowledge and communication style were exceptional and we will always treasure the time we spent on the walking tour with her. Blair and Debbie
George was very well prepared. He even helped us to out excellent parking and very detailed directions from the beginning. He did a superb tour with so much knowledge. We stepped into so many places where he introduced us to the intrinsically of Chania… without a good guide like him you would walk by and think it is a store :). One time it was an old church that became a mosque and had graves with glas covers under it… super cool. He ended with us at a secret spot out of the way (really weird looking at the beginning) which became the most amazing view point. Thank you George !
Great experience! Petros was fantastic, had great details. We had a wonderful time and learned so much
This company is two brothers who operate the tours. Our guide/driver was George, we met his brother Peter as you will be told to look for the VERY tall guy. Both brothers are extremely personable, professional with excellent English. Peter played Basketball in the USA and George has an international hospitality/hotel background. They are both native Cretans. I say this to provide context for the level of service and experiences over and above the standard listed in the description. Communication was prompt, the meeting place was easy, George is a history buff and takes the time to include the islands history in the tour experience. I would highly recommend this tour for your Chania visit. Great flexibility, early start time to get you ahead of the other cruise passengers/groups. Definitely a five star experience from this provider!! Thanks for a great day!!
This is a great tour of the old town area including several religious sites, archaeological sites, as well as a sampling of the local culture and life in the city. We stopped at a local establishment where we had samples of olive oil, butter, honey, and several other yummy Greek foods / toppings. Our guide, George, was outstanding and so knowledgeable. He tailored the tour to the things that we found most interesting. We elected to extend the tour and drive up into the mountains to go to a farm to table restaurant that cooks everything on open fire. The restaurant recommendation was provided by our guide and it was excellent. We had a sampling of all the dishes they serve. Thankfully, the guide helped us with the ordering😊. We highly recommend this tour.
George was a great tour guide. Gave us a lot of information on Chania in a short period of time. He also took us to a great lunch spot. Oh, and he loves history, you could really tell.
A wonderful tour. Our guide, Petros was very knowledgeable and showed us the history of Chania that we never would have seen on our own - the sites are scattered throughout the old town including in a souvenir shop! Petros even took us to a local restaurant and helped us order local dishes. So glad we took this tour and have a new friend in Chania!
We had wonderful time visiting Crete. Petros was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the island and its people. There is a lot of walking and we saw some of the ruins, shopped and ate lunch. It was a great day!
We thoroughly enjoyed our day in Chania! Our guide George was right on time and made sure we saw all the important places. He was very flexible and even found us an awesome place for lunch! We had a great day and would highly recommend his tour!
Peter was an absolutely fantastic tour guide. He gave us amazing historic insights that allowed us to truly appreciate the Chania culture. His knowledge was unsurpassed as he answered all of our questions. Trust me we had a very curious group of friends! He took us to local places with the best culinary experience we have had in a while. Crete is a beautiful island and we will be back soon and we most definitely be taking another tour with Peter!
