Chania Guided Snorkeling And Boat Excursion

We had a wonderful time exploring the pristine Mediterranean waters of Chania with Salty Descents. This tour is a must-do if you are in Crete.

Fabulous day out snorkelling. We were a group of 10 and all thoroughly enjoyed the day. Joanna, George, and Michael were super friendly, professional, and really welcoming. Thank you guys for a really memorable day. Highly recommend Salty Descents.

This was the most magical thing we have ever done! Me and my daughter have not done snorkeling in open ocean before and was so very well introduced before we went in to the water! The guides was personal, fun and so professional 👌🏻 Two stops on the tour where one of them was in a bay with crystal clear water 😍 other stop included a small cave into the mountain. Big thanks for a lovely day that we always will remember!

Amazing day overall. The pickup was smooth, guides were so fun and helpful. Snorkeling gear was in good shape, the snorkeling spots were nice. We saw different fishes, sea urchins, some pieces of old wreckage from a plane & boat. Would definitely recommend!

Lovely experience with George and partners. Pick up and return to the cruise pier was easy, dive shop stop for equipment outfitting was streamlined, and boat trip to dive sites was enjoyable. Our every need was tended to, and when extra time or care was needed it was given with graciousness.

Snorkelling for plane wrecks is a nice way to spend an afternoon in Chania. The entire crew was very attentive to our needs, very polite, always kept us safe. I had a great and relaxing time.

A perfect way to spend a morning. Giorgos and Ioanna were fantastic guides. They were extremely engaging, helpful, and knowledgeable. The two sites we visited were home to lots of underwater life.

The address link they provided was incorrect (while I clicked meeting point), which caused us to go to the wrong location and miss the activity.

My two sons (17 and 20) and I were looking for something adventurous and special to do together. Also smaller and more independent than the popular tourist trips. This met our expectations and more! The Salty Descents team were fantastic from the first text message to the final goodbye. Expert and professional - reassuring and clear in their instructions and guidance. Kind and hospitable - we learned some really interesting facts about Crete’s history, culture and also about the technical aspects of snorkelling. Two stunning snorkel sites and lots of time to explore. It was a rare treat for us and the videos and photos are now part of our favourite memories - very special indeed. Thank you to the whole team for a wonderful experience.

Everything from pick up to drop off was smooth and efficient. The driver Giannis was on time and excellent! The travel was very comfortable. Once at the shop, equipment was handled pleasantly and efficiently. Out on the boat, the ride to the locations was great. The 2 spots for snorkeling were beautiful. The team made sure everyone had what they needed for a successful trip and adjusted as needs required. The whole team was pleasant and easy to work with! Would definitely visit them again!

Awesome experience! Both guides were well trained and helped the whole crew gear up for the snorkeling dive, safety demonstrations were clear. Got to see many fish and beautiful reefs! Dive lasted about 4 hours total

This is a very enjoyable way to spend a morning in Chania. You don’t need a car to get there as there is a pickup service. You don’t need to be a good swimmer to do this. Wet suits are provided which are very buoyant and keep you afloat. The snorkels and fins were excellent - no leaking. The staff were really friendly, professional and helpful. There weren’t huge amounts or variety of fish to see but it is still a very enjoyable tour. I would do it again.

We had a wonderful snorkelling trip with Joanna and George. We were collected from our hotel and returned to it after the trip. Both Joanna and George were friendly and welcoming, we had such fun. The locations were fantastic and varied, all equipment was provided and we felt very safe. I would highly recommend this company and would love to do another trip with them.

Salty Descents is a company that goes that extra mile. Joanna, George and Jannis are so friendly, helpful and fun. My friend and I felt like we were in great hands. The water is magnificent, the fish we managed to see were good, and the sea was calm for us today. All in all - a great way to spend the afternoon.

Excellent experience and the highlight of our holiday. The team were so welcoming and brilliant with our kids (12, 14 and 17). Especially good with the slightly nervous one! Best snorkelling I’ve ever done with loads of fish to see. Crew also gave us some fascinating local info and were very knowledgeable. We even got loads of video sent to us afterwards of us all swimming underwater. Really great value for money and literally nothing negative to say. Thank you Salty Descents!! A very professional business with friendly owners - we were picked up in a mini bus and taken to the dive shop, where we could change into wetsuits. The boat is a dinghy with off board motor and was great fun. We stopped at a very quiet cove and while conditions were a bit choppy for me we had a great snorkelling experience.

Very good trip.. The people are very professional.. felt very safe with my family. The snorkeling spots they took us to where amazing. Caves and shipwrecks..the equipment they supplied is in good condition. On board they provided plenty of cold water and also fresh fruit snacks.. they also provide a pick up and drop of at your hotel..

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour! We were visiting for one day on the cruise ship and appreciated being picked up directly at the port. Salty Decents really impressed us- everyone was so friendly and professional! We appreciated the wet suits to keep warm since the water was a bit chilly. Our daughters, ages 11 and 9, cite this as a highlight of our trip. We felt very safe taking this excursion as a family and I highly recommend. Thank you!

Very well organised and friendly staff and guide, very knowledgeable. Spent approx 1hr30.min in the water at 2 spots. My adult daughter really enjoyed the experience as did I ( although I dont particularly enjoy open water went with her for moral support!!) Water and fruit provided. Over all a very enjoyable morning would recommend

My family really enjoyed this excursion! We were a group of 6, with 3 kids (7, 12, and 14) and a grandparent. Joanna picked us up at the port and was our snorkeling guide. She was such a sweetheart, very helpful and patient, and a great instructor. Joanna and George took us to 2 locations, the first one was in a cove and just beautiful and calm. The water was as clear as a fish tank! After the first location we took a break on the boat for water and a snack of fresh fruit which was perfect. They dropped us off back at the port and sent us pictures and videos which is a great memory! Gave us a great recommendation of where to eat by the port and the food was amazing, plentiful, and reasonably priced. You can tell Joanna and George really care about their guests experience and you aren't just a number. This is the perfect excursion if you are on a cruise, you don't have to worry about transportation and at 3 hours it's the perfect length. Wouldn't hesitate to book with Salty Descents again if we are ever back in Chania!

All of the staff members were super friendly and helpful. They were accommodating of all swimming levels. The areas we went to snorkel were beautiful. I couldn't recommend this enough!!

Beautiful snorkeling spots, away from other travellers so it's very peaceful. Staff were attentive and brilliant throughout.

My partner & I had such a fantastic time snorkeling for the first time! We were lucky to have such a beautiful day in Chania. Our guides were very helpful as I was a bit nervous at first, but they help and guide you in any way you need, so you can have the best experience. :) Definitely recommend & would do it again.

This was our first snorkeling trip. Our guides, Joana and Georgios, were wonderful from the first contact to the end. We were a bit nervous since it was our first snorkeling trip. But the professionalism, friendliness, impressive knowledge and care of our instructors gave us a wonderful, interesting and safe experience. Snorkeling at two really nice and idyllic spots. We would love to come back!

10/10. Had the best day on the snorkelling tour. Ionna and Georgios are excellent guides and friendly, warm folks. I felt nervous going in as I’ve never really snorkelled before but Ionna put me immediately at ease. Felt supported and guided throughout the trip and also had the freedom to go off and explore on our own. It was a good balance. We saw lots of beautiful nature, fish and sights. The boat and facilities at the centre are great. Overall an awesome experience - we all left absolutely buzzing and have some beautiful memories to look back on.

It was a wonderful tour and fantastic snorkelling experience. Instructors are really pro and friendly and they take you to beautiful sites. Amazing moments on the boat and under the water with clear and safe supervision. Snacking and water are provided on the boat for free alongside amazing pix and videos. Highly recommended. It was perfect.

This was a great experience! I got to see some remote spots and a lot of fishes. The guides were experienced and very friendly. The group was quite small. I highly recommend!

Our guides were kind, funny, and so happy to be there which made my excitement feel even more special. The baby swordfish blew my mind! I would recommend this to anyone traveling or visiting the area. It was worth the hour drive from our airbnb!

Cozy trip. The instructors were incredibly skilled and professional, making you feel completely safe throughout the experience. We enjoyed amazing views and fantastic snorkeling spots. They also take photos throughout the experience, which you get online afterwards!! Highly recommended! This is a must-try!

We did the snorkeling trip which starts at 08:00 and I must say it was worth getting up early. The communication was great with the team before the snorkeling and during the trip as well. They took us to 2 snorkeling spots, the second one was better. It was worth starting so early because we were the only one snorkeling team at the first spot. When we left then other boats started to come to the spot. The driver of the boat and also diver shared some interesting information during the trip. We also got cold water and cold watermelon during the trip. They offer you wet suites, but the water was 28-29 C so not cold at all. And I must say that the boat trip to the snorkeling places was smooth not too bumpy (I must mention this because we had a horrible experience in Zakynthos 2 years ago)

We have a lovely day snorkelling in Chania. Everything was so well organised from the minute we (a family of 8) were picked up until the end. Joanna and George were so friendly, good fun and informative. The spots they took us to were beautiful and it felt like we had the sea to ourselves and we even managed to see a turtle! :D We would highly recommend them!

Everyone was absolutely amazing. From taking care of us, telling stories and facts to making it an amazing day. Especially Joanna was an amazing guide. Warm, witty, caring and helpful. I can not recommend Salty Descents more than i do now. Everyone should go out and swim with them!

Was a really nice spot! The water was so clear and the highlight was a small cave to discover. So nice! We had the possibility to swim, to snorkel and we got always interesting information about history and about the region while discovering the spots.

This was a fantastic snorkeling adventure at a great price. The guides were fabulous, the quick boat trip out to the two snorkeling sites was fun and easy, and the views were unmatched. We saw a ton of fish, squid, and eels. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone wanting to snorkel the amazing seas around Crete.
