What an outstanding experience. We did a private Battle of Crete tour with George and could not recommend him more highly. He was incredibly personable, knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Crete and the events of the Battle, bringing the stories, places and people to life in a way that made the whole experience incredibly engaging. Being New Zealanders made the tour particularly poignant for us, given the significant role New Zealand troops played in the Battle of Crete. George understood that connection and went out of his way to make the tour relevant and meaningful for us. Because it was a private tour, it also felt wonderfully personal and intimate. We never felt rushed and George was generous with both his time and his knowledge — we genuinely felt he went the extra mile. One of the absolute highlights of our time in Crete. If you have any interest at all in the history of the island, and particularly the Battle of Crete, do this tour — and ask for George!

Tour was enjoyable- our tour guide George was funny with his “Trivial Pursuits” and wealth of knowledge. We felt like we were family. We will be back to Crete.
This was an excellent tour, extremely thorough and George was a fabulous host. We left the tour feeling like we knew the Battle of Crete intimately. As well George took the time to show us things that were of special interest specifically to us, and went out of his way to also give us recommendations of things to do around Chania.
Us and some of our friends chose to go off the beaten track and do a history tour with our tour guide George. The chance of getting to know so much for such a historical event and having George doing an amazing job making this tour an experience for us was trully the best thing for the day for us! If you live history take this tour! You will not regret it!
Great history tour about a Battle, not widely known between the Germans and the Allies. George picked us up promptly, took good care of us and took us to various places where the events took place and gave us abundant information and amazing details. Thank you George for having a great time!
Magnificent tour, we spent all day exploring and learning so much about the participants and their objectives during the battle. George is a very good lad who knows so much about history and unless you pause him, he will keep talking all day!
Our guide, George, was extremely friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. His passion for history, teaching, and sharing stories about the past was evident during the entire tour and we all had fun and learned so much. George has a wealth of knowledge - along with a great sense of humor! - and is interesting and entertaining. Our time together flew by and the tour was exactly what I wanted. Definitely one of the highlights of my trip to Crete. If you’re interested in a tour filled with amazing information and stories about the Battle of Crete, this is the one. Highly recommended!
A history tour that we will always remember, our tour guide George was thorough and with abundant information about this significant battle. He will provide you with hidden details and amazing facts. Do not miss him!
This is a historic tour with plentiful information and insight about the war events that took place on the island during WW2. The guide is full of information about everything!
We had a splendid day with Tour guide, learning so much about the Battle and at the same time he was so accommodating to our needs that made the best of our day! We strongly recommend to take this.
A memorable day with historian/tour guide George. In the end we were excited to learn so much about what happened on the island and its consequences on the war's aftermath.
This is a great tour in order for somebody to learn the fundamental details of the Battle of Crete. You will find out about the main battle sites, the Royal CommonWealth and German Cemeteries, monuments plus details about hidden aspects of the battle. Tour guide George is fantastic.
Our tour guide George took us on this wonderful tour and he was very informative and communicative about the facts that took place on the island in WW2.
This was one of our best days in Chania. George is a terrific tour guide/historian on The Battle of Crete and he enlighted every aspect of that battle that took place in WW2. He exceeded our expectations.
George was our tour guide for this tour and we have to admit he was exceptional. He gave us abundant of information about the battle sites, the opposing sides and their war preparations. He has studied history in England so he is fluent in English. We would totally recommend him!
As a group of six we took this tour with George, it exceeded our expectations as over the morning we visited a number of sites while George was able to give detailed information explaining the significance and history. The tour was well paced and able to be adapted to the interests of the group. If you are looking for a quality tour of ww2 sites in the Crete area I would strongly recommend contacting George. Also his suggestions on other things to do were spot on, with a trip to a slow cooked restaurant in the mountains being another highlight. Thanks George!!
My husband and I became interested in World War II history; fascinated with the role of Crete in World history and the number of wars/conflicts it has been involved in; Crete is at the intersection of 3 continents and has always been important to every military campaign in that part of the world - what a stepping stone! Georges is a Military/Political Historian and very knowledgeable regarding the history of Crete and why it is important in the positioning of military history. We started out at the Cemetery at Souda Bay, which is 'beautiful' in its own somber way. Georges has spent much time there and knew each grave stone-as familiar as a family member. He is very invested in the history of why/how each person died as individuals and those that went down as groups. We moved to other areas of action, especially Hill 107...a pivotal battle ground in the action of Crete. Then to another Cemetery on/near Hill 107, we wandered through the Cemetery, then walked up a mountain through Olive Groves, Vineyards to a Bunker on the top...British - not as well constructed as German bunker. A small Greek Orthodox chapel also awaited us. As we walked, Georges told us stories of war, the countryside - agriculture, culture and the interlinking with the people of Crete. The people of Crete were strong, valiant and defended their home turf to the very end. Georges is fluent in English(lived in USA) and IS a walking history book. My husband and I had 2-weeks in Greece/4-days in Crete. THIS individual tour was the absolute highlight of our trip. I am not including photos, as the photos that are shown with the tour ad are wonderful. (Georges, himself is a a photographer and was helpful in taking pictures and angles). For those interested in Military History, details Georges' tour is the one; he also introduced us to others in his circle of WWII experts. 5-Stars +++++++++++
Excellent tour one-on-one with a very knowledgable, friendly guide with a deep understanding of the subject matter from both his Cretan and my NZ perspectives. Both the logistics of the tour and his well-informed engagement with places, events and people involved made it a very successful day.
This was an outstanding historical tour of the Battle of Crete during World War II. George provided me with extensive information about the Battle and we visited various sites associated with the war including cemeteries of the fallen. I recommend George and his company for any tour of Crete. He is extremely knowledgeable, professional and very easy to work with. Thank you, George.
This was such an amazing tour! I’m so glad we went. I’ll be honest, we went because my dad is a WW2 buff and it was mainly for him. But even for myself and the rest of my family, this was deeply engaging and profoundly moving. We learned a lot about the history of Crete, and got to see so many small villages (and a bakery!) we would never have been able to see without our amazing tour guide, who was knowledgeable and friendly! We also saw a massive private collection of artifacts that was a once in a lifetime experience. Thanks again!
