We spent a very nice day visiting agia sofia cave and elafonisi beach. The weather is a bit moody in november usually, but we did have a great time! Thank you so much for everything Yiannis.

Agia Sofia Cave, also known as Agia Sofia Cave Chania, is a fascinating natural wonder located near the village of Topolia in the region of Chania on the Greek island of Crete. This remarkable cave has gained significant attention for its unique geological formations and historical significance. The Agia Sofia Cave is situated in the White Mountains, a majestic mountain range in western Crete. It is known as one of the most impressive caves on the island, attracting visitors from around the world due to its stunning beauty and intriguing history. Geologically, Agia Sofia Cave is a limestone cavern formed over millions of years through the erosive action of water. The cave is adorned with impressive stalagmites, stalactites, and various other rock formations, creating a surreal and otherworldly atmosphere within its chambers. What sets Agia Sofia Cave apart is not just its natural beauty, but also its historical significance. The cave served as a place of worship during the Byzantine.
Elafonissi, located in the Chania region of Crete, is a breathtaking coastal area renowned for its stunning natural beauty. This idyllic paradise is often referred to as the “Pink Beach” due to its soft pink sand and turquoise waters. As you approach Elafonissi, you’ll be captivated by the sight of the pristine coastline stretching before you. The beach itself is a masterpiece of nature, boasting a unique blend of colors. The sand, tinted with a delicate pink hue from the countless crushed seashells, contrasts beautifully with the clear, azure waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Elafonissi Beach is a crescent-shaped stretch of paradise, offering both shallow and deep waters. The shallow parts near the shore are perfect for wading, while the deeper sections provide opportunities for swimming and snorkeling. The crystal-clear waters allow you to marvel at the underwater world, where vibrant fish and marine life gracefully dance among the rocks and seagrass.

Thank you so much, we had a very beautiful day! Our driver Mike did everything he can to ensure we have a great time. Totally recommended.
This was a WONDERFUL trip! Our guide, Yannis, was amazing! He made a quick stop to see one of the many gorges, we tried the local drinks honey and olive oils from a roadside stand, the Agia Sofia cave was beautiful, but the beach was incredible! Water is crystal clear! Then Yannis took us by a small lagoon that was gorgeous! It was one of the best days of our vacation. Highly recommend!!!
Great experience! The guide was very informative and courteous!
Mike was a great driver very friendly. Loved the beach it was beautiful pink sand. The cave was nice also not such a bad hike up.
We had a wonderful time on our private family tour to Elafonisi and Agia Sofia. Our driver, Michail was on-time, friendly, accom and extremely knowledgeable about Chania. Our day started off with a stop at a cute local coffee house. Fully caffeinated, we made our way to Agia Sofia. What a wonderful surprise! We loved visiting the caves:) The shop below offered a nice repreive with fresh orange juice and the opportunity to purchase a few souvenirs. Elafonisi was stunning! The tide was low, so we got to wade all the way out in cool, crystal clear turquoise water. All-in-all it was a fabulous day.
As advertised - private transfer to the destination and back. Mike had great communication, professionalism, and drove safely. The umbrella provided was helpful. We had plenty of time to enjoy the beach.
Wonderful Day!! Go to the beach first!
We were pleased with our guide Yano’s. He brought history, culture and family to our time together. We visited Caverns which were a treat. Local stops and the magnificent beach of Elafonisi Beach. None for pink sand. Sadly the pink sand is endangered as tourists take the shells which is what creates the pink sand. Non the less it is spectacular and and very expansive beach.
We had an amazing day trip to Elafonisi Beach, the Cave of Agia Sophia, and the Monastery! The scenery was absolutely beautiful, and each stop was unique and memorable. Michail customized the itinerary to fit our needs perfectly and even included a dinner stop for a delicious traditional Greek meal with an incredible view — a highlight of the day! A special thank you to Michail, who made the experience even better. He was personable, knowledgeable, easy to talk with, and an incredibly safe driver throughout the trip. We felt comfortable and well taken care of from start to finish. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Crete!
Giannis really is the best driver in Crete! So good in fact, that my mom, who is usually the most terrified passenger you’ll ever have, wasn’t nervous at all! He is also incredibly knowledgeable and we learned a lot about Cretan history and what modern life is like on the island. We stopped at the Topolia gorge and the Agia Sofia cave, which were both great additions to the drive. The beach itself is beautiful, but if you’re reading this you already know that. On the way back Giannis showed us a super secret swimming spot, and the best gyros from a family owned/operated spot. Overall, this was one of our favorite experiences and we highly recommend!!
This was one of our best experiences during our stay in Chania. Giannis, our driver, was very kind, shared great stories and lots of information about the area- even shared with us his favorite place for gyros! Very highly recommend him!!!
Janis is definitely the best driver in Crete! He is super friendly, knowledgeable, and flexible to ensure your trip is exactly what you want. Our day trip to Elafonissi beach was completely stress free - no having to deal with narrow mountain roads or trying to find the right way, Janis will take care of you! Forget driving around this beautiful island yourself, contact these guys and tell them what you want, they'll make it happen.
The excursion was everything that I was hoping it would be. The beach was beautiful, the cave was awesome, and the views were amazing! Michail was very accommodating and personable. He even gave me several suggestions for restaurants to try. I can’t recommend this tour enough! Definitely a must when in Chania!
On Christmas Day we two friends went to Elafonisi beach and cave of wisdom with driver-guide Michail. He offered us punctual and kind service. We spent a wonderful day !
Great tour with a fantastic driver!!! Perfect day. We will come back when we are in Crete. Fantastic driver. He makes the tour complete.
Janis took us on adventure. Everything went smooth as planned. Janis gave us an extra experience and showed us a hidden gem, a laguna. Hej was very informative about Crete and Greece in general. A wonderful day for the 5 of us, age 11-45.
Mike is very knowledgeable on time and extremely pleasant . We had an amazing experience and highly recommend ! Thanks Brian
Great beach day & sightseeing with a wonderful driver/guide. Elafonisi Beach was crowded but I can understand why…. stunning.
Younis was one of the most accommodating, friendly, and caring tour guides I've ever had the privilege of meeting. He was so considerate to my mother and gave so much insight and history about Crete and its culture. Moreover, he took the time to share a part of what he also loves about this magical island. I am immensely thankful for the hospitality and thoughtfulness that was offered to us. Crete is in my heart forever.
We booked the “All Day Private Family Tour to Elafonisi Beach & Agia Sofia” through JMP Chania Tours & Private Transfers, hoping for a comfortable and memorable day exploring Crete with our multigenerational family (including a senior with a walker). Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations. Our guide (I think was Giannis, though I don't recall for sure if that was his name) was late meeting us at the Port of Souda, leaving us waiting in the hot sun while all other tour groups departed. When he did arrive, he did not meet us at the designated area like other guides, but stood well beyond the port gate, requiring our group—including my mother with limited mobility—to walk a considerable and difficult distance. We were surprised to find a small hybrid vehicle awaiting us, which was extremely cramped for our group of six. Once on the road, the situation worsened. The guide played loud pop and techno music at an uncomfortable volume and drove aggressively—tailgating other vehicles and weaving through traffic—which left our group silent and anxious for much of the drive. Though we skipped Agia Sofia cave due to accessibility concerns, we requested a stop at an olive farm or similar local spot, which the tour description said was possible. Instead, we were taken to a small olive oil shop. While the shop had charm and the owner was kind, we were told we would be shown where the olive oil is made; instead we were taken into the small room where it is made and just left there - no explanation, no tour—just a quick sample and a purchase opportunity. It felt uninformative and transactional. Elafonisi Beach was beautiful, and we appreciated that the guide arranged a small transport vehicle to help my mother get closer to the water. This was the one bright spot in the day. The return drive was just as nerve-wracking with the same blaring music and aggressive driving. When we arrived back at the port, a security guard refused to let the guide drive us through the gate—even after he pointed out my mother’s disability. This was particularly frustrating, as we had seen other guides drive their guests directly to the ship. It left us wondering if there had been prior friction between the guide and port authorities. Overall, this tour was disappointing and uncomfortable. While Crete is stunning, we didn’t feel safe, accommodated, or well cared for by this guide. I would recommend looking elsewhere for a more professional and thoughtful tour experience, especially if traveling with elderly or mobility-impaired family members.
Yiannis Pantelakis was our tour guide and extremely friendly and we had very interesting conversations with entire family both to and from our destination!!! learned about local culture along the way!! Yiannis was very generous with his time as well as we lost track of time at the beach and he still ensured we stopped at the caves and offered us time to take pictures along the scenic route. extremely appreciated as really felt like we were being given a tour by a cousin with family-level attention. Gave my teenagers great advice on where to hit the pubs and clubs. Communicate via WhatsApp day before was appreciated. Provided sun umbrellas and some water and ensured we knew to bring our beach towels. thank you +++ for a great day Yiannis!! Dubrovsky family (sasha, sandie, joshua, zachary and nathaniel).
Very good trip tour was very comfortable It was very wonderful place I highly recommend it specially for beach lovers
The tour guide was flexible and worked with us as to what we would like to do. He offered umbrellas for the beach and explained the beautiful countryside of Crete as we went along. The cave Agia Sofia was amazing. Loved the Greek lunch at a quaint tavern! Delicious
Was the best experience!! Our Driver/Tour guide Giannis was amazing and the best. He was knowledgeable and let us customize our day the way we wanted it. Such a great time and would recommend for families or couples!
Michail was prompt and drove us to the Agia cave where we hiked up and then had a snack before continuing on to the beach. He was kind enough to provide us with an umbrella and told us some different options for food/restrooms if necessary. We met back at the agreed upon time to travel back to our hotel. It was great to not have to worry about renting a car or taking the public bus.
Yanis was an amazing guide. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and spoke fluent English. He was very engaging and personable.
Our driver John (Yannis, sp?) was amazing and gave us lots of interesting information about the area and took us to an amazing taverna at the end of the tour where we ate the best gyros of our lives. Something to note- the 257 step hike up to Agia Sofia and the 0.5 mile walk to the beach from the parking lot were quite strenuous. My 70+ parents were with us and made it ok but they are in quite good shape. Elafonissi and the cave were quite beautiful!
We had a great time. Our guide was funny and personable. Great driver easy to talk to and spend time with- he was a safe driver and came prepared with the beach essentials. He gave great recommendations and suggestions.
Giannis was fantastic. He was kind, flexible and accommodated our diverse group. We had kids, adults and seniors. He was able to offer us extra support to get our seniors included in all activities, which we sure appreciated. The cave stop was a bit of a workout to get up there, but beautiful and worth the effort. Our kids loved seeing the cave pigeons. Elafonissi beach was spectacular. Absolutely worth the 1.5hr drive on a windy road out there. We swam, walked and snorkelled in the crystal clear water. I would highly recommend this trip, as well as Giannis!
An absolutely incredible day from beginning to end! Giannis was a wonderful guide that was flexible, easy to speak with and had the most wonderful suggestions. We even had the opportunity to extend our time and go to Falassarna as well as stop for an incredible dinner at a local Tavern. Highly recommend!
Michalis, our driver, was an incredibly safe driver as well as friendly, informative and a lot of fun. We left Chania at 9 am and took the drive down through amazing mountain views and gorges. The first stop was Agia Sofia Cave which was so inspirational. His knowledge of history of the cave and the area was impressive. And as a senior woman, he was sensitive to bathroom stops! That is important to me! We arrived at Elafonisi with several hours to spend. We left at 4 and got back around 6:30. It was a beautiful day. I highly recommend this company for its professionalism, knowledge and friendliness.
Absolutely wonderful! The drive is enough to take your breath away. Experienced both the wonders of Agia Sophia & beauty of Elafonisi, along with personalized details along the way and a fantastic host. I learned so much about this side of Crete, and felt at home in the hands of our skilled host. Pictures are not enough! With this tour, was able to appreciate both the beauty and depth of Agia Sophia as well enjoy a visit to the unique beaches of Elafonisi. Appreciated that Michail was accommodating to my mother (who has mobility needs) and that we had a full day. This is the personal experience that captures the heart, warmth, depth, and brilliance of Cretan culture. Thank you for making our visit memorable for a lifetime! Absolutely recommend!!
Thank you so much for everything, Michael was a great driver , every careful driver and explained everything along rh way. Thank you for everything.
Thank you so much Michael for everything you were nice, he helped us along the way and explained everything, thank you so much again! Thank you so much for showing us around.

What a beautiful day with Michael. Wonderful beach we enjoyed every moment of the tour, thank you so much. Been a pleasure hope to have the chance at the future to do this again!
We had a wonderful day at the beautiful Elafonissi Beach and an interesting stop on the way at the Agia Sofia Cave. Thank you Stavros!
Michail was such a lovely human to have encountered for my stay in Chana. It was just me on this tour so we had great conversation and he provided a safe and knowledgeable ride! I ended up booking him again for my next transfer
Mike arrived on time, drives safely and is super nice! Our girls really liked him. The private day trip was lovely and we all really enjoyed Elafonissi beach! Would totally recommend!
We had a great time with my family at elafonisi tour, thank you for everything! Michail was a very careful driver, and was explaining everything on the way. Many greetings.
Great day with Yiannis our driver and guide! Yiannis was very knowledgeable, thoughtful and a safe driver! We loved this excursion on Crete!
We had excellent time with our family. Michail was very helpful and a great driver. Pick up and return right from your own hotel. Elafonissi was beautiful and it was nice to see the Agia Sophia cave on the way. Would definitely recommend this tour.
Wonderful time with Michael our driver was very helpful and careful. Thank you so much for everything we had a great day!
Wonderful trip. Knowlegeable and very nice guide! Would highly recommend this trip to anyone who would like to see a bit of Crete.
We had an amazing time on the tour yesterday. Giannis was a true professional and very knowledgeable. He took his time to explain everything. Lot of steps to get to the cave but Giannis took his time and gave us our time to get up to the cave. The beach was one of the most beautiful beaches we have ever seen. We didn’t want the day to end. We highly recommend JMP Chania tours. Thank you for everything 😀😀😀
Michail was a great guide/driver. Thoroughly recommend this trip and him. There were three of us, it didn’t work out much more expensive per person than a couch trip
The driver was nice and thoughtfull. The car was clean and nice and had an ac. He asked many times if we wanted to stop for photos, he also took photos of our group. I feel that the cost was really worth it, i would have paid a little more after the trip knowing how good it was. The ride picked us up from our villa which was also really nice.
We had a fabulous day with our Driver Mihali, despite the inclement wet weather conditions. We climbed the steps to the beautiful St Sophia Cave and enjoyed the rock formations and views. Unfortunately we couldn’t stay longer than 45 minutes at Elafonisi due to the rare stormy weather. Our Driver Mihali was kind enough to take us to Akrotiri and Venizelos park for the panoramic views and a beautiful Venetian 16th century church located in the park. Comfortable vehicle and an excellent Driver/Tour guide with Mihali. Enjoyed by my family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers.
Really impressed, Micheal was brilliant allowing us to make the most of the day. Totally recommended. The umbrella was very necessary as it was a very hot and busy day. Plus the water as it’s a steep climb 257 steps to the top of Agia Sophia caves
