We just spent a wonderful summer holiday at Capsis Astoria Heraklion, and we absolutely loved it! The hotel is super modern, and the location is just perfect—having the bus stop right outside the door made exploring the area so incredibly easy. The absolute best part of our stay was the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly, warm, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They were so accommodating and handled our special requests perfectly! On top of that, our rooms were spotlessly clean, and the breakfast every morning was just delicious. The rooftop area is another big plus. Even though the pool is a bit smaller in reality than it looks in the photos, it didn't bother us at all because the whole setup is great. The sun loungers were super comfortable, and hanging out at the rooftop bar was the perfect way to end our evenings. We honestly have zero complaints. It was a fantastic vacation, and we highly recommend this hotel!

A great choice if you’re staying in Heraklion mainly for sightseeing. The location of Capsis Astoria is absolutely incredible. It’s right in the heart of the city, next to a small park and just a short walk from museums, shops, restaurants and the main sights. The Archaeological Museum is practically next door, and you can easily explore most of central Heraklion on foot. There are also bus stops right outside, which is extremely convenient for getting around or heading to other places, although this also means the surroundings can get a little noisy at times. The breakfast was another highlight. There is a really rich selection, with plenty of options to choose from, so you definitely won’t leave hungry. But the real gem of the hotel is the rooftop. The pool itself isn’t particularly large, but having a rooftop pool in the middle of Heraklion is a fantastic bonus. There is also a rooftop bar, making it a great place to relax with a drink or a light lunch after a day of sightseeing and enjoy the views over the city. A bit disappointment that it closes at 18:00 though. The hotel may not be the quietest place in Heraklion because of its central location, but if your priority is exploring the city rather than spending your whole holiday at the hotel, the location is hard to beat. Overall, I’d highly recommend Capsis Astoria for a city break in Heraklion. Great location, excellent breakfast and a rooftop pool and bar that really add something extra to the stay.
One of the hotel’s main strengths is its location, which is convenient and makes it easy to explore the area. The room itself was also spacious, clean, and the bed was comfortable, which made for a good night’s sleep. The breakfast was good, although the fruit juices were particularly poor. Unfortunately, the welcome was a major downside. The reception staff felt cold and unwelcoming, both on the first and second day, leaving a negative first impression that never really improved. The biggest disappointment was the so-called “inner courtyard view” advertised on Booking. In reality, the room overlooked a tiny enclosed space with nothing but air conditioning units. It was unattractive and nothing like what you would reasonably expect from the description. To make matters worse, the room had a persistent smell of humidity. While the location, the spacious room, and the comfortable bed were definite positives, the misleading room description, the humidity, and the unfriendly service made the overall experience disappointing.
Located right across the street from the Heraklion Archeology Museum. It is across from a major bus stop and the hop on hop off stops as well. Staff were great. Elevators are really small but that is common for all of Crete. Breakfast in the morning price is steep but it is very good. A decent selection of items. Something for everyone. Hot items, fruit, cereals, and variouscold cuts, cheeses, and breads. A small convenience store next door. Be aware that the bus does attract quite a bit of people near the front entrance of the hotel and it can be daunting but everyone is nice in Heraklion. We had no issues. A beautiful hotel for the area.
Really enjoyed my stay at Capsis Astoria. The location is perfect, right in the center of Heraklion, so you can walk everywhere, shops, restaurants and the old town are just a few minutes away. The rooms are recently renovated, modern and very clean. The breakfast buffet was also great, with plenty of options to start the day. The staff was friendly and welcoming throughout the stay. Definitely a great choice if you want to stay in the heart of the city.
