What can i say...everything from start to finish was great. Martin the tour guide went above and beyond to make us feel confident in the water as the first reefs were quiete deep. The second stop was the starfish which we loved all white bottom and starfish around and last but not least was playa el cielito which was shallow, sand color was cre white and rays passed by us by the second. This was definitely the highlight of our stop in Cozumel.
The captain and snorkel guide provided a great tour. The water was great and there was plenty of marine life to see. We would have liked a tour with less people, it did get a little crowded in some spots.
Great snorkeling trip. Staff was friendly but they should know how to speak English fluently, i mean english is now the universal language. Amazing locations, saw lots of fishes, starfish and several sting rays. Well worth your money.
Fantástico! Jose and the crew were friendly and very helpful. My husband wanted to take this snorkel tour last year but we had limited as we were on a ship. This time we had the chance to go and we truly enjoyed it. We loved the last stops as we saw some turtles, starfish and sea rays passed us by just feet away. it was a beautiful experience.
Had the BEST experience with this crew! Took our daughter (11&6) to snorkel for the first time ever. Philip & Omar took incredible care of us. For families with younger children (ie 6 year olds): Omar had a floatation device that our youngest was able to hold on to the ENTIRE time at both of the swim stops. My husband was close by but Omar made it so that we could both enjoy the snorkel adventure alongside our children. Also! They do not allow ANY kind of sunscreen so pack those long sleeve UV proof shirts for everyone and possibly hats. We tried to put on mineral sunscreen before we left and were told no sunscreen at all because of the environment we were traveling to. The boat is shaded, but still keep the sun in mind. They provide goggles, drinks, and a snack. We are still raving about this amazing experience. Bring cash to tip your travel guides as they make the incredible trip experience worthwhile. We swam with nurse sharks, huge stingrays, and tons of tropical fish. We made three stops, the last being more of a break where you can stand. Lastly! I was a little concerned when we got to the marina, but everything was AMAZING!!! I would totally do it again
Pros: Our tour guide, photographer, boat captain & staff at shop were great. Bad CS: 2 pp in our party of 8 canceled due to medical. Viator or tour Co. denied request of a refund with 16 hours’ notice. Snacks on shared plates, not 1 plate PP Hard to find from port; required an overpriced taxi. The tour company name, Maybe Tours Supplied by Cozumel Tours and Excursions, wasn’t clearly listed on ticket, making it hard to ask for help & locate mtg point.
The crew was amazing and the locations were gorgeous. We just wish we had had swim fins as it was a little difficult to navigate open water without them. We also felt taken advantage of by the taxi drivers as well as a bathroom “attendant” when there were no signs stating the taxis were cash only or the bathrooms were for a fee.
It’s was great. Other than you advertise turtles no turtles. Maybe just say snorkel. Ceviche and beer in the ocean amazing.
Tour was awesome! Luis was a great guide as well! We went with El Almirante and they gave us drinks the whole time and an amazing locally made ceviche at the last destination.
Overall I got a food experience. The guide was really friendly and we did saw fish,. starfish and stingray. But definitely not as much as I was expecting and no turtle in sights when it was the main thing the whole boat was waiting for. The last spot was a bit spotless. Yes we got beers, soft and cheviche, which was cool but apart a lonely starfish there was nothing to see and we spend a long time there. I loves the expensive but I'm a bit disappear nonetheless.
Such a fun afternoon! Great company! Ricky was awesome at finding us a turtle, stingrays, fish and even a reef shark sighting! Highly recommended!
The guides are the only reason I'm rating this 4 Stars. They were great and took amazing care of everyone on the boat. Here are a couple things you should know. If you're coming off a cruise ship, you probably have transportation or will take a taxi to the dock, but if you have a rental car and are staying on the island it can be confusing. We found our way to a parking lot, and another person in the marina told use we needed to park back over in the front, so we got back in the car and drove all the way back to the front of the Marina. We couldn't find anything with "Cozumel Tours" indicating a meeting location and then the security guard told us we needed to park the car back in the parking lot and walk over. So after doing this again and walking half a mile in the heat, we were told the tour company was actually called "May-be" tours. Check in was wild, dozens of people showing up. Little to no organization and you're charged 10 pesos to use the bathroom....the problem was the lady that opens the bathroom was running late. When you actually get to use the bathroom, there are no toilet seats and the toilet paper is on a single roll in the middle of the bathroom. After getting that sorted we just sat around waiting to leave. There was one guy running around with a notepad and calling out names, and thats when I figured out that they have multiple boats and they just play math games to pack them with as many people as they can. There were probably 22-24 people on our little boat and one passenger complained about feeling uneasy because there were so many people. The guides were so great at dealing with people with multiple language barriers, attitudes, swimming proficiency and ages. The rented snorkel gear doesn't have a water catch on the tub and the masks will start to hurt your forehead after a while, but the reefs are beautiful. A few more things to think about, with so many people and one guide in the water, they want to keep the group close together, and I can't tell you how many times I was hit by a leg or an arm while just trying to snorkel. The second and third stops are El cielo and El cielito....absolutely gorgeous water, stingrays, starfish, conch shells with free water , cola, beer and ceviche. All in all it was a good trip but logistics could be better.
WOW, what an experience! This was my favorite day of our week long cruise, I will remember it forever. I found this trip on Viator, the reviews were great so I gave it a try. This was soooo much fun! We went to a big beautiful reef, shallows, a starfish sanctuary and a stingray hangout. We saw turtles, sharks, stingrays and lots of tropical fish. The water was insanely clear. Our guide Ricky was so nice and knowledgeable. Jorge was a fantastic captain. And I must say, Rafael took incredible pictures!!! We ended up buying the photos, they were 1000x better than the ones I took. He was so sweet to my two girls, as they kept following him around because he had the food for the fish. I have taken many snorkel trips throughout my life and this is up near the top! I would 100% join them again. Thank you for a fun time!
Absolutely incredible! We're adventurers and have traveled and explored all over the world. There is nothing like being out on the open ocean and snorkeling in the beautiful clear water off the coast of Cozumel. We saw sting rays, eels, sharks, tons of fish including puffer fish and so many giant starfish fish!!
Everything I hoped for -- lots of wildlife, a well-organized excursion, a friendly crew, and a great vibe.
We had a great time. We saw starfish turtles, stingrays, and lots and lots of fish team that helped us was great. All the stops are fun to spend time at. We had a great time. Thanks
I could not be happier for the snorkeling on this tour. We booked outside the cruise as they didn’t offer this tour and I liked the 4 stops. Took a taxi $15 each way. Weather was overcast and water was choppy but the guide we had…sorry horrible with names was amazing. Too rough for my hubby he waited until we reached the stingray area. We saw turtles, plenty of coral and fish, an eel, stingrays. They showed us parts of Cozumel I had never seen before. The water was crystal clear. They served water, cola and beer and chips with fresh ceviche. Thank you three (boat driver, guide and photographer) for making our day such a wonderful experience
Great tour! My only small complaint was the pick up point was a little hard to find but people at the marina are helpful once you get there.
This tour visited three sites for snorkeling. We got to see beautiful fish, star fish, stingrays (and were even fortunate enough to see a shark!) The tour guides were outstanding and helpful. They provided ceviche, sodas, water and beer. They brought a professional photographer. Picture prices were comparable to on the cruise ship. Things I wish I knew: #1 the place was hard to find. The big sign said "May be tours" and the very little sign "Cozumel tours". The directions saying it was next to the tequila shop were also less than helpful since that was also a much smaller sign on that shop. #2 Keeping up with the guide was hard for weak swimmers at the first stop. I'd recommend practicing with fins before going. My son said they really helped him, but I felt like it made my situation worse #3 Put the mask on tight--really tight! Getting salt water in your eyes is painful #4 I kind of wish I brought my own snorkel. I had a hard time keeping saltwater out of my mouth and became queasy from the amount I swallowed. For that matter, it would have been nice to have practiced with a snorkel first. #5 You might get motion sick. My wife definitely should have taken dramamine. #6 There are three stops. The first one is the hardest. The last one you could just stand and eat a snack. #7 the bathroom cost 10 pesos per person at the dock.
Boat ride out was long and super choppy waters. We felt like we were in the boat more than snorkeling. But liked the snorkeling and saw a lot snorkeling.
This is our third time of taking this tour. We finally got to see the sea turtles!!! All in all great experience. The swim guide loosened up the longer we were on the excursion which was nice. The water and the snorkeling is awesome. The sand bar stop is also fun. You can stand in the water and stingrays and fish will swim around you. The ceviche for a snack was really good!! I would recommend this excursion. Just know if you meet at the Marina it is an $11 a person extra charge. Also, ask the price of pictures before committing because we paid $300 for pictures (lesson learned)!!!!!
Dishonest and shady business
Ricky (Ricardo) was friendly and informative. He made the trip so much better! Thanks for doing a great job!
Awesome experience with a very fun guide; got to see many rays, several nurse sharks, a barracuda, and a sea turtle. Time spent at each location was reasonable. Photos taken by the photographer were fantastic but expensive, but also optional to purchase. Safety briefing and snorkeling advice made this a doable trip for competent/able beginners (and above, of course). Several of the folks with us were older and snorkeling for the first time, and had a great experience while using provided life jackets. Most of these companies do a similar sort of experience (3 snorkel sites plus ceviche), and after being there and seeing many of them, I can confirm this one is a reputable one, so if you're trying to decide which of the dozen+ places to book with, add this one to your list!
Great excursion with a wonderful crew. We had family with us and everyone had the time of their lives We especially loved the extra time swimming with the stingrays and the fresh ceviche they made on the boat
I love seeing all the fish, turtle, starfish, rays. The crew was amazing. I went on tour 2 years ago and they didn’t have the photo option. That was amazing.
Great snorkeling experience and great pics for purchase. Would have been great but got us back over 39 min late, making use ruch to our ship with zero time for anything else.
We had an excellent time snorkeling in Cozumel with the crew of the Beta! The crew was fun and professional, and we got to spend a good amount of time in each place we stopped. We saw Charlie the loggerhead sea turtle, huge star fish at Playa El Cielo, and lots of Sting Rays and tropical fish and even saw baby nurse sharks all out in open water. The snacks and beverages were delicious, and a perfect way to end the day. The trip was relaxed and the crew made sure we were all well taken care of while we enjoyed this amazing snorkeling adventure. Our best excursion that week. We'll be back, it's everything we had hoped for.
This was a fun tour! After reading many reviews, I was a little concerned about what we might actually get for our money. I will share our experience here so that you can go into it with realistic expectations. We were a party of 4 (2 adults, a 9 yo, and a 4 yo). Our cruise ship was docked at the far end and it took a good 20 minutes via cab to get to the launch spot. The cab fare will range from $10-$20 one way. Our tour was small, 10 passengers and 3 crew. The boat was a fishing boat with a shade cover. If you are expecting a catamaran, those tours are available, but the cost is drastically more. The ride out to the reef takes 40-50 minutes but it goes by fast. The crew are very helpful with children so that everyone has a good time! Our youngest was not interested in the first 2 stops, so I stayed on the boat with him and chatted with the boat driver who was very friendly and helpful. You can not apply sunscreen on the reef (the first 2 stops), but you may apply it once you reach the sandbar. If you are fair skinned, I would apply sunscreen AND wear a sunshirt; the Mexican sun is intense. The last stop is a sandbar where the boat anchors and you can get out and swim, play, relax, whatever. The stingrays like to swim around this area so you will probably see more than a few swim right past you. This is also the point where you are served fresh ceviche and beverages. Something to note is that you are not alone in this tour. There are at least 10 other boats following the same route, offering the same tour. It doesn't take away from the experience but I can see how some people might be overstimulated if they go into this thinking it is going to be a "serene" tour. If you manage your expectations, this can be a really fun outing for the whole family. The crew is super helpful, the water is beautiful, and the sea life is cool. Two last details: Don't over pack. A small waterproof bag is all you need. Also, make sure you check your ship's times. One person on our tour was on Eastern time so she needed to be back sooner than the rest of us. Just check your timings so you aren't stressed the whole time.
What an amazing excursion! The staff were so fun and kind. Saw stingrays, fish, starfish, and a barracuda. Unfortunately we did not see a turtle. The sandbar was so beautiful they served us fish and chips in the water with sting rays swimming by everywhere. They provided lots of drinks (alcohol and non-alcoholic). Very affordable excursion. Highly recommend!
Our guides were great. Smooth boat ride to 3 snorkel stops. We saw amazing coral, fish, turtle and a tiny shark as well as a ton of star fish and rays. We bought the photo package which was reasonable and received so many great Uber water shots including a movie of the turtle. I highly recommend this tour.
It was an awesome experience. The snorkel guide was great at assisting us first time snorkelers. And the captain made some very delicious Ceviche. It was a great time.
This experience was very expensive! The boat was small (I don’t know how it would accommodate 24 people ever…we had 14 and were pretty packed). The snacks and soda were mid (RC cola or small water or beer with chips and salsa). The boat wouldn’t pick us up at our resort even though it was on the way. After paying $260 for a family of 4 we had to pay another $44 upon arrival. The absolute worst part was the guide picking up shells from the ocean floor and FEEDING NURSE SHARKS to lure them out of their habitat. Not once or twice but three or four times. They did this so their photographer could get photos they try to have you buy at the end. It was so disappointing to see a local outfit disrespect the law and wildlife this way. This was in the national park. We will not be back to May-be Tours. Recommend taking the Fury instead.
We had an amazing time on our excursion! 10/10 recommend! The snorkeling was incredible. Our group of 5 had a great time.
Kim, Oliver, and Jorge were great. Easily the best excursion of our cruise. 20 minute walk from puerta maya cruise terminal. We saw starfish, turtle, dolphins, flying fish, lobster, rays, and a nurse shark. 1 consideration (customers to be aware of): tour didn’t return until almost 3pm (which can be tight for cruise departures, maybe they could depart earlier?)
This excursion felt very chaotic. It is not suitable for children under probably 10, even though it says it is. We took our two kids ages 3 and 6. We assumed since it says they provide everything and kids of all ages can do it, that they would have the appropriate kids gear. They did not. They were struggling to find snorkeling gear that was small enough for them. So, our kids did not feel comfortable and did not do it. We have taken my 6 year snorkeling when he was 3 and it was not a problem because they had the right gear for children. Expect about an hour boat ride to the snorkeling spot. Which felt like forever. Then you will be rushed to get in the water as soon as they stop because they can't anchor on coral. I understand that but it was windy so the boat was moving fast. They rushed us even more because of the wind. We were then only in the first spot for maybe 10 minutes. It was not long. Second spot had a lot more to see and we were there for about 15 minutes. third spot was star fish and sand. Not much to see but it was probably where we spent the most time of 15-20 minutes. All these snorkeling spots are very crowded with other boats and people snorkeling. So with the wind and all the boats and being rushed, it was very chaotic. Our last stop was at a sand bar with waste deep water, this was the best part because they could anchor. We spent as much time as we wanted here and could swim around. they sting rays also swam through here. It was beautiful clear water and very enjoyable for everyone. This is also where the staff handed out drinks and snacks. They gave us Ceviche, I did not eat it but my husband did. He ended up very sick the next 2 days. We then took the hour boat ride back. Overall, it was fine and worked out. The things I wished I had known were that its not suitable for young kids, there is an hour boat ride to get to the snorkeling, snorkeling is only 10-20 minutes at a time or maybe shorter if its windy. There were about 20 other guests on the medium size catamaran style boat, with two people doing the snorkeling, a camera lady, and the boat driver. The staff was doing the best they could and really trying.
I paid for all the pictures and videos but never received them. Otherwise it was an amazing experience. My girls had the best time and the staff was wonderful.
Wow it’s was magic ! Omar was a great guide ! The turtle , stingray and starfish was very nice ! I recommend this tour
Finding the pick up area was alot harder than it should be and for Mexico the cab ride was to expensive. The excursion was great. We saw some much. The crew really made us feel welcome. A shout out to Simon. He was so understanding and patient. The girl taking the photos was amazing. So sorry that I cant remember her name. We didn't see a turtles but she got pictures of a few. We'd recommend this tour.
The staff were very friendly and the views were stunning. Had some issues with the life jackets. They are not full life jackets and some people do prefer those over the belt ones. Maybe have a few on hand would be nice or ask before leaving or ask before leaving the marina. It was our first time ever snorkeling, but there was no instruction on what to do so it took a little bit to figure out. Otherwise, it was a great day.
Great experience-staff very attentive.
This tour was offered by "Maybe Tours". The crew led by Freddie and Paulino were fantastic, taking good care of us from start to finish. The ceviche snack while rays swam around out ankles in the shallow sandbar was a highlight!
This is not really a sanctuary. It is just out in the ocean with multiple tour companies. It was too crowded and we never saw a single sea turtle. Plenty of stingrays and starfish can be seen though.
All as described, fun day on three reefs. Read fine print, it's also $11 per person for the harbor fee. Great guide, his name was Sandy.
If I could leave a no star review I would. Let’s start with the lies: guaranteed shade, no. No more than 16 on the boat, no. 10:00am departure, no. This was, frankly, the worst experience I have ever had on an excursion, and I cannot recommend this company, at all. We were there at 9:30 for a 10:00 departure. We did not get called out to board until 10:30 and they put 25 people on the boat, with many of us not in shade. We, literally, got off the boat as it was not safe (besides the lies they told about shade and max guests). I cannot give a more negative review of this place , because words fail me. Do NOT book with these people, they do NOT care about safety nor what they promise.
This was a family favorite of the entire trip! Snorkeling along the reef, starfish, sea turtles and stingrays were absolutely awesome! We spent plenty of time at each stop along the way, and even enjoyed fresh made ceviche and a beer. Highly recommend this snorkeling tour. Our guide was Omar, and he was great!
you wanna be on a big loud boat with party atmosphere then this us NOT your trip. Small boat with 10 max and simple solid time. exactly what we were looking for. Take taxi to Marina Asipona ($10) and look for yellow shirts that say May-Be Cozumel or office which is on the left as you walk toward marina. We were scheduled for 10-2 but went from 9:30-1:15 which was perfect. We were on Harmony of the Seas. You visit a coral reef followed by starfish/stingrays then shallow stingray chill time. Almost all tours do the same rotation. Would absolutely do again. Taxi back to ship were waiting as we returned ($10) back to port. Hope this helps. I booked the night before.
Great day on and in the water. The guide, "kitchen", and driver were all great. They kept us on course, in the know and safe. The improvements I suggest is to better pinpoint the meet location and remove the "turtles" from the title. They do not specifically go where turtle are. We saw a number of fish on the reef. Amazing starfish, and stingrays. I recommend this activity. It was a wonderful day.
The experience was amazing, best snorkling we ever had! We were able to see sea turtles, eagle ray, baracoudas, baby sharks, starfish and so many stong rays at El Cielo. Ricardo and Gustavo were very nice and friendly, making sure everyone was comfortable doing snorkling. Th guide adapted the tour based on what people wanted to see. The snack they served was an excellent ceviche which was very appreciated. We would recommend to everyone. One small negative point, not sure the transportion they offer is the best option. Although we arrived at 10h30 for the tour at 12h, the transport was late and the crew needed to wait for us 20 minutes. But this had nothing to do with the crew for the tour.
