The cooking class from start to finish was fantastic. Tania our chef and host was so kind, fun and knowledgeable. Our group met her at the supermarket, and we gathered all the ingredients. We went back to her house and began cooking and making margaritas. Our group consisted of one non-cook, to a few novice cooks, to a trained professional chef of 35 plus years. We all learned, laughed, and enjoyed the entire experience. I would highly recommend this activity, if you like to eat delicious food from the Yucatán.
We loved our intimate meal-prep and dining with Tania, who knows cooking so well and has a great facility with those great Mexican dishes!
We came to Cozumel for my sister’s 50th birthday and wanted to do something different and authentic. The cooking class exceeded our expectations from start to finish! Tania , our chef was gracious and took us shopping with her at the supermarket for all of the fresh ingredients to make our meals. When we arrived at our destination she made us feel welcomed and gave step by step instructions on how to make every dish. The food was simple but absolutely delicious!!! It was the highlight of our trip to Cozumel and I would highly recommend to anyone visiting for an intimate experience off the beaten path!
Home town Mexican cooking, we made trompitis pork tacos. Home made guac and mango margaritas , everything was delicious
We just did this cooking class yesterday. Had such a fun time. We met our hostess Tania at the market and shopped for ingredients, learning about the different ingredients we would be using. We helped make green sauce, guacamole, and pico de gallo. Tania made us authentic Cazuela drinks which were delicious! We also had bean soup which I'm already planning to make at home...called Sopa de frijoles. We then had chicken marinaded in a sauce we made which was on a skewer with onion and pinapple. This was airfried and then we carved it and made tacos with fresh corn tortillas. We were so stuffed we couldn't do the offered mango margaritas! For dessert we had plantains panfried with butter and sugar with some cheese on them. Tania was a great hostess and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. I highly recommend this. At end of class she sent us a pdf with all recipes including some we hadn't made that she thought we might like to try! Thanks for the great class!
Tonya was amazing, the food was awesome, and she made the whole experience lots of fun! This in-home cooking class should be number one on your list when visiting Cozumel whether you were just couples or a large group. Highly recommend, number one thing we’ve done on Cozumel.
We had the best time with Tania at our cooking experience! Highly recommend this! We took my mom for her 80th Birthday. Everything from shopping at the market to the fresh margaritas and appetizers- to the main meal. You won’t leave hungry! Tania is the best. She even met us at the market the next day! Can’t say enough about our experience!
It was such a fun experience. Tania is an amazing cook and person, she taught us delicious recipes and we had so much fun! I’d recommend this to everyone
Did this cooking class with my mom and sisters to celebrate my Mom’s 80th birthday. We had SO much fun! Left completely full. Tania made it such a great experience from shopping for the ingredients to making fresh margaritas and a meal including appetizers, main coarse and dessert. We absolutely loved it! Highly recommend asking for Tania- she is so sweet and made this experience a 5Star review!!
We had such a fun evening in our cooking class with Tania Martinez! Our group of six (three couples) couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Tania was upbeat, knowledgeable, and made everyone feel comfortable. She even tailored parts of the class to fit our different tastes, which was such a nice touch. We cooked (and ate!) so much delicious food and learned a ton along the way. Definitely recommend booking a class—and if you can, ask for Tania! ❤️
Tonya and her daughter were incredible hostesses! We loved the intimate home location of this class. The food was incredible and we can’t wait to try the recipes in our own kitchen.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Absolutely Incredible – A Must-Do Experience! Wow—this cooking class was everything! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with smiles, energy, and the rich aroma of real, authentic Mexican flavor. Gianni was a top-tier host—funny, engaging, and full of passion for the food and culture. But let me just say this… Tanya is the best. Her warmth, hospitality, and charm added an unforgettable layer to the whole experience! We chopped, sizzled, stirred, and laughed our way through the session—and every dish we made was pure magic. From scratch tortillas to fresh guacamole to mind-blowing tacos… we were full, happy, and seriously considering moving in. 😂 The drinks were flowing, the vibes were on point, and the company was even better. We walked in strangers and left like familia—with full bellies and big smiles. Whether you’re a foodie, a curious traveler, or just looking for something unforgettable to do, THIS is it. You won’t regret it. Just book it. Your taste buds (and your soul) will thank you. 🔥 10/10. Tanya and Gianni—y’all crushed it!
This is a MUST!!!! Tania was nothing short of amazing!!!! We all loved it so much and left with super bellies!! The whole experience of the market was so cool too!!!
Tania was an amazing instructor. From tips and tricks to providing insight on regional fruits, spices, and food customs. Everything we made from the salsas to local squash to pibil was easy enough to remember and absolutely delicious. We appreciated all of the decisions we were able to make from protein choice to types of drinks. Highly recommend.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Trompitos Cooking Class – A Must-Do in Cozumel! My wife and I did this cooking class with Tania to celebrate her birthday during our trip to Cozumel—and it was easily one of the best things we’ve done on the island! We met Tania at the local market, where she walked us through how she chooses ingredients—fresh, local, and full of flavor. From there, we headed to her home and dove into making traditional dishes like Trompitos, squash with cheese, pico de gallo, guacamole, frijoles charros, and not one but TWO kinds of margaritas (Cazuelita and mango—and yes, both were incredible). Tania is not only an amazing cook but also kind, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable about Mexican cuisine and culture. We felt like we were cooking with an old friend. It wasn’t just a class—it was an experience. We learned, we laughed, and we left full and happy. We’ll definitely be booking this again on our next trip to Cozumel!
After our plans for the day were ruined by rough seas, we were thankfully able to nail down a cooking class with Tania and her daughter to keep us entertained for the day! Due to timing we weren't able to visit the market like most of their guests but they were still able to make due with the grocery store which was an adventure in itself. Tania was great and explaining what we were looking for or doing and why, explained the difference in peppers and more. We've also done cooking classes in Italy and Costa Rica. I would say this one was a little less hands on but we were still able to participate in the preparation and cooking and also spend some time just relaxing with the amazing food. It was a good mix of work and play. And the food was amazing! So much delicious food! And she was even able to work with multiple food allergies. You will not be disappointed
Tanya met us at the Super Aki so we could buy all the ingredients for what we needed. Then we went back and cooked, and talked and had a deliciously great time. It was like Tanya and I had known each other for years and were old friends. It's a fun experience the whole family can enjoy. I highly recommend it to everyone.
Tania and Sergio were great hosts. We enjoyed the trip to the market (including comparing products and prices with home, and buying some culinary souvenirs), We got to see and assist with dinner preparations, and ate and drank more than our fill. Conversation was lively, and we were able to learn way more about life on the island than we would have otherwise.
We loved the experience, Tania took us to the market to buy all the ingredients and involved us in the process of making the drinks, salsas, guacamole , and trompitos. Everything was delicious, she was really nice and the food was more than enough, we ate a lot and we had a great time !
Very great hosting, beautiful food and very good vibes all around I really enjoyed everything and would recommend……..
Wonderful experience! Sergio & Tania made it fun, educational and delicious. I definitely recommend this class. You do get all the recipes.
Incredible tequilas and amazing food. Don’t eat breakfast before you come! Thank you Tania and Sergio, we had an absolute blast.
We enjoyed grocery shopping with Tania and then helping with the food prep. She answered all of our questions and the multicourse meal was delicious. She also gave us recipes so we can try the dishes at home. Highly recommend this wonderful cooking experience!
Awesome. Simply terrific. It may be unsettling for some Americans, as Tania picks you up and drives you to her place for the meal- so you’re with a person you never met in an unknown location. Don’t fret! Tania is friendly, kind and a terrific cook. She makes the whole experience a pleasure. And the food! Out of this world.
Tanya was a great teacher. We really enjoyed shopping at the market and eating our delicious meal! Highly recommend this activity.
What a great experience. Would definitely do again! We had 3 adults and 2 kids. Cooking and eating authentic Mexican food was one of the highlights of our trip.
It was the best cooking class we had. The food we prepared was delicious, The Host patiently explained how to prepare dips, chicken and margaritas and provided recipes for all of them. Thank you for the great experience!
I don't even know where to start. It was absolutely amazing. Tania met was so lovely with my wife and I and made us feel so welcome. The shopping for dinner was actually an education as we learned so much. Everything that we made was delicious 😋. She even had a nice desert and made me a delicious non alcoholic beverage at my request. My wife had hers with alcohol and said it was fantastic as well. We asked tons and questions that were all answered while cooking and we had a blast. Definitely recommend to anyone who has the time.
The meal Tania made us was absolutely delicious!! She really went above and beyond - we had a great time with picking out the groceries, then doing a tequila tasting, then eating multiple courses for dinner. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun food-centered activity that feels very authentic.
One of the most unique and interesting “tours” we’ve done. I actually wouldn’t even consider it a tour…it really felt more like we were spending an evening with our family. Kevin, Tania, and Sergio were soo welcoming. We crashed their Sunday evening with a short notice request to learn how to make trompitos. If we were intruding we were never made to feel that way. We really felt like we just went to a friend’s house for dinner and drinks. You go to a super market and learn what to pick & what might be comparable ingredients in the US to make the meals. After a quick stop at the store you go to a local home and start cooking! We made tacos al pastor, salsa, guacamole, friojoles charros (a bean soup) and special margaritas. Everything was amazing. I don’t even really like margs but I loved these! That must be why they are special, lol. We’ve even made them at home ! They give you all the recipes are provided after class and it’s a hands on class so don’t think it’s a sit and watch thing. You help make what you eat! If you’re debating about this don’t! Just do it! Especially if you are a taco lover and or want a little change of non-tourist pace. Thanks for welcoming us to your family!
A perfect activity to do as a couple or with the family. Sergio and Tania could not have treated us better and taught us the best Mexican recipes with a lot of flavor. Very thankful
