Little difficult finding the location for jeep pick up, but once located, things were easy and smooth. We had a beautiful jeep with a cooler in rear full of water, and beverages. We had a guided tour all over the island. The guide drove his car in front of us. So many amazing stops especially at the tequila tasting museum. The staff was so friendly. We also stopped at a scenic beach, light house and preserve. The restaurant we stopped to eat at, had authentic Mexican food and was amazing! Each time we got back into our jeep, the guide had it running and cool for our comfort! The beverages in the back were always refreshing and cold. Highly recommend this tour! Can’t wait to go back!

Itinerary
The private Cozumel Jeep Tour takes you once around the island of Cozumel. We will use panoramic roads right by the ocean, pass along the wild and uninhabited east side of Cozumel and stop at the nicest beaches and lookout points to take pictures.
The Punta Sur National Park is one of the most beautiful attractions on Cozumel. It offers an amazing variety of flora and fauna. An unpaveled road leads into the park. We first stop at a beautiful lagoon and try to spot crocodiles. From an observation tower you have an excellent view over ocean and lagoon. Look out for birds and other Cozumel wildlife. Visit a small Mayan ruin from the 14th century. The next stop is a lighthouse. 132 steps to the top – and you enjoy one of the most beautiful views over the southern part of Cozumel. Discover the small museum next to the lighthouse. It has some surprises from the time of the ancient Maya and from the time of the pirates and smugglers on Cozumel. Our next stop is one of the most beautiful beaches of the whole Island. Enjoy your beach break and relax in the sun, have a Mexican meal or swim to the offshore reef to snorkel there (weather permitting). Your private guide will be happy to take you there.
Take scenic pictures of the most beautiful lookout point in Cozumel. This is the largest beach of Cozumel's east side and one of the most favourite ones.
Take scenic pictures of the wild side of Cozumel and relax on the beautiful beach of Chen Rio. Walk along the rock formations and feel the fresh breeze of Cozumels' wild side.
Visit downtown Cozumel with the central park, clock tower and souvenir shops. Take a guided tour to the oldest church of Cozumel and get some shopping time.
Discover how Tequila is produced and try different kind of Tequila (stop is optional)

The guide was fantastic! JC took us to many locations and some detours when we asked. He added a lot of information to every stop and was just fun to talk to and made the experience enjoyable. Highly recommend this tour!
Ian was incredible! He gave great information about the island. He also took us to places we wanted to go and sights on the island. Best tour guide ever!!!
From booking to pickup, Leon Tours made it very easy. JC was a fantastic guide - showing us all around Cozumel, giving us terrific facts and history as to the area, and serving as our own personal paparazzi for the day. Highly recommend this company.
Was a great trip. Highly recommend. Ask for Inn Palmer. He was great and took us to some awesome spots. Snorkeling was awesome, and he joined us, showing us exactly where to go. We saw alot, plus a giant eagle ray.
What a great way to Tours Cozumel. A short walk from the port we were picked up by Jose Carlos.(JC) he was so friendly, his English was excellent, and his enthusiasm was contagious. He would have shown us absolutely anything we wanted but as it is his home, we allowed him to set the agenda. He brought us to the other side of the island, where we saw beautiful beaches, Everglades, crocodiles, southern most tip of Mexico and a lovely beach club.
Our group of 8 people had an amazing day seeing the beauty of Cozumel with our guides Santiago and Jose. They were knowledgeable and terrific guides. We toured the national park and stopped for lunch at a beautiful beach. Would definitely recommend!
Our driver was wonderful!! Shared many wonderful sites & information with us. Was very receptive to our needs & comfort.
Santiago and Jose were fantastic! So friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable and great guides! Highly recommend this tour and these guides! They were awesome!
Our group of four couples had an amazing day with our guides Jose and Santiago. They took us around the beautiful island and through the national park with a great beach stop to relax and get some food. They made our trip fun and informative as they shared their knowledge of the history of this beautiful island. They made the agenda flexible to meet our needs and gave us the perfect day. We highly recommend the tour and these fantastic guides!
Wow! This tour was so worth it! Our tour guide Santiago was very knowledgeable and took us to see more than we imagined!! We felt safe and comfortable in his jeep! What an eventful day !!
Everything about our tour was amazing! JC was our guide. He was accommodating, extremely knowledgeable, and so great with our whole family. We would highly recommend using Leon Tours for any trip to Cozumel! Make sure you tell them if you want to skip any stops, they will adjust for you. The island is safe for visitors, at no point during the tour did we ever feel uncomfortable or not safe. We also took a ton of pictures, and JC made sure to document all the stops for us. Not only is he a great guide, he's a great photographer too ;).
Loved the private tour. Jorge was wonderful, very nice and knowledgeable. We did exactly what we wanted to do. It was so nice not to be with a big group. Lunch was amazing! The best shrimp fajitas right on the beach. The tequila tour was ok, the tequila was really really good. Be prepared to be asked to buy some. We had are own snorkel gear with us, so we made a pitstop and Jorge gave us a private snorkeling tour.
Ian, was our tour guide and we couldn’t have had a better tour around the island in Cozumel.. His knowledge of the history of the Mayan people was very interesting and answered all our questions. He was very caring and had a great personality. We hat a great day!!!
Actual tour was great. East side of island is beautiful. Great communication with tour operator prior to excursion. My issue with the tour is the driver did NOT get is back to the cruise port timely. We requested to be back to the port one hour prior to all aboard deadline. He got us there 20 minutes prior to all on board deadline. It is a very long walk from drop-off point through the port and a very long pier. Guard at port entry was warning 20 minutes before ship leaves. Hurry. I have walking issues and was NOT HAPPY. Take this tour but stay on top of your driver to get you back on time.
We bought we wild see A large Mayan ruin. We were disappointed to learn we could only see the small Temple. Jorge was wonderful, however. We really enjoyed his great personality and encyclopedic knowledge. We appreciated his taking ng pictures for us.
We book this excursion through trip advisor. Our first excursion not booked through cruise line. Our guide Gabriel met us before our scheduled time. He was very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. We were able to taylor our tour around our needs. This was a great value and would do it again. The lunch was good and drinks (including beer) was available throughout the day. We would definitely recommend this tour.
This is a great tour if you just want to see parts of the island away from all the port shops, etc. Beautiful stops, took some great pics, climbed the lighthouse for amazing views. Jorge was a great tour guide, letting us tell him what we wanted to see and I loved hearing about his culture. The tequila stop was fun too!
Mr. George was awesome! Very knowledgeable, and helped us enjoy the tour exactly how we wanted. Every little thing, you can tell that he knows the place very well, and he is not just there to make you shop at his store! He went over what we want to see and our expectation, then suggested and everything went on so smoothly! I had a 4 year old with us, he loved every second of it! If you don't know what to do, just want to explore the island, this is the perfect way to enjoy the island!
Our tour guide Ana gave us great recommendations on places to visit and we were able to make our Cozumel tour a memorable one.
My husband and I had a wonderful experience today with our driver & guide, Gabriel. We were picked up at Dreams and had a 5 hour private jeep tour around the island. Our first stop was at Punta Sur where we climbed to the top of the light house. We skipped the snorkeling on the beach because it was raining but went on and toured around the east side of the island where the natural beauty of the island was breathtaking. We made several stops along the way and we had plenty of time to take in all of the beauty at many interesting places and even enjoyed The Best Mojito Ever! We ended our tour at the tequila factory where we had a lesson on the process and finished with delicious tastings. But, there is more! We ended with lunch at Mezcalera, in Cozumel, where we enjoyed delicious fajitas! Don't hesitate! Take this trip! We had The Best Day, even in the rain!!!!! Ask for GABRIEL! Mike & Janet
Raul and JC were the absolute best tour guide team ever. They made sure we were comfortable and well take care of at all times. JC is so knowledgeable and informative, and he really made me our short time worth while and educational. The private jeep tour was the highlight of my trip and i highly recommend it
Had a great time from start to finish with Jorge as our private tour guide. Very knowledgeable and very personable. Got to see ALL the favorite sites without the crazy big crowds. Will do again in April when we bring family back!!!!
It was a great adventure and the support of the team was really great. Many thanx for that - therefore strong recommendation :-) Harald
Jorge (George) was great. Our group could not do much walking so we had to adjust tour and Jorge helped. Tequila tour was boring until I bought $450 worth. National park was boring until purchasing margaritas. Lunch was a surprise because we expected it to be included but had to pay extra. I wish Jorge took us to some more interesting places but because of our lack of mobility it was still good. I would rent my own Jeep and drive myself next time. Should have brought more cash to stop at small places for cocktails on the other side of island.
JC and Raul were informative, friendly and made for a great tour. The stops were great to see. Loved Ciielo Beach!!
The private Jeep experience was very memorable. Our a tour guide Miguel went above and beyond the average tour. He was very informative and so friendly. He showed us some amazing spots and even took us on a guided snorkeling tour. I’ve been to Cozumel a few times and I could say this was the best experience by far. I would highly recommend requesting Miguel when booking the tour!
If you come to a tourist area like Cancun, Cozumel, PDC, Tulum, etc.., and think you will escape all the tourist traps...then visit another country. Accept that it is part of the adventure. Review the tour itinerary and read the reviews. If there is some part of the tour you don't want to do, then tell them when you arrive. These guys are easy-going and willing to modify the tour (within reason). Our tour was with JC and Raul, and it was perfect. Highly recommended, especially if you have limited time or 1/2 day to kill, and don't want to mess with renting a car. Thanks again JC and Raul! -Rob and Geo
My husband and I had a fantastic Jeep tour of the island on our vacation last week. Adriana was a wonderful guide! She was so knowledgeable about the island and had great recommendations of places to stop on a rainy day. She customized the tour to our preferences. One of our stops on the east side of the island was a quaint beach bar with the best mojitos ever! Punta Sur is absolutely stunning! This was one of our favorite days of our vacation. Highly recommend this tour, you won’t regret it!
We had the beat day in Cozumel thanks to our fantastic guides Raul and JC! We’ll definitely be back!!
I booked this trip for my wife’s birthday. We’ve been to Cozumel several times but never left the port area. I picked this tour because I thought it would be great to spend the day in a comfortable air conditioned Jeep leisurely exploring and learning about Cozumel with our own private guide. Unfortunately, the vehicle we got was an old, tiny 2 door jeep with uncomfortable seats and a thin canvas top that was tied down with canvas straps. My wife (5’4 130) and I (6’1” 195) had to contort our bodies to try to get in the back where the canvas top flapped against my head from the wind blowing as we drove and the sun beat down on our necks because the top didn’t cover the whole back. No radio, no a/c, no carpet, broken metal brackets…..worse than the Vietnam era jeeps I drove in the military 30 years ago. Our first stop was a store for them to buy drinks for the tour. The second was an ATM so our guide to get cash because he had to buy gas for the jeep because it was on empty. Third stop was the gas station. Fourth and fifth stops were to find ice for the cooler. That wasted about 45 minutes of our tour. None of the reviews I read before booking this tour mentioned any of these issues and the jeep shown in picture 1 on TripAdvisor is definitely NOT what we got. This set the tone for what could have been a great day. Our guide, JC, and driver Raoul, were very nice and I’m sure very knowledgeable. But between the flapping top and wind blowing through the jeep, they didn’t talk much unless we asked questions. I think they were also disappointed in the jeep they were given, especially as we drove past dozens of beautiful 4 door enclosed air conditioned jeeps from other tour groups. They said that this was the only jeep left at the rental agency they got it from. As for the tour, the only “customizing” we did was cut our trip short when I got tired of climbing through the side “window” because it was easier than contorting past the front seat and lifting my poor wife who has a torn ACL out of the back seat because she couldn’t contort enough. The tequila “museum” was short but interesting. Punta sur might have been more interesting if we weren’t so hot and sore from bouncing up and down on the unimproved very bumpy road in a jeep with no shocks. We went back to the ship after that…3 hours was enough…plus we were out of gas again😳.
WOW pretty much sums it all up. George was our driver and tour guide. He was absolutely AMAZING! We took our 77 and 81 yr old mothers with us on vacation. When we met up with George in the morning we explained what we wanted to do for the day, a little bit of culture, a little bit of sight seeing and alot of beach time. George did not disappoint! Not only did he give us exactly what we asked for, he also kept our mothers in mind when it came to sight seeing. We were able to see so much without alot of walking. He was so knowledgeable about the area, and his English was spot on so we were able to understand everything he was talking about. When we landed at the beach, he was able to get my aunt snorkeling (she does not know how to swim!). He was so patient and held her hands the whole time! Hands down without a doubt the next time I am in Cozumel I will be calling Leon Tours!!
My wife and I booked the Leon jeep tour for something different than water activities. It was a great time exploring the island and would highly recommend it. J.C. and Raul were fantastic. We would recommend you ask to go to the Coz Coffee shop and get the peanut butter coffee.
Wow! What a fantastic experience! JC and Raul were AMAZING! We absolutely loved everything about this tour of the island. We were able to alter the plans to be more tailored to our desires. We went to the Mayan Ruins and had a tequila tasting. The restaurant they took us to was so delicious, however the finale, a stop on the beach for Mojitos, was the best part! Yummy and a very cool spot! We highly recommend and will most likely book again! ✌️
Jorge was our tour guide and he showed us around the island and shared his knowledge about the island and many points of interest. We also had a great meal during the day. Highly recommend the tour and especially Jorge!
We had a very pleasant day. The tequila factory tour. Our driver was very informative and courteous. It was really enjoyable to see the countryside and the beaches. Fajita Lunch was delicious.
We asked to go to the Mayan Ruins which was awe inspiring. We opted to go round on our own and not pay extra for a guide. We were not aware that the tour guide would not accompany us inside….but it did not detract from the experience. The Tequila farm was really interesting and I now have a different view of what real tequila is! Whilst we were not really wanting to do ‘beach thing’ and were not sure about going for lunch on a beach……wow…..thank goodness we did! It was amazing! The view, the food ……certainly not like the Mexican food we have in England (!)……and the whole atmosphere, it was a beautiful place and certainly worth a visit. ( I tried to add pictures but couldn’t get them to download!). JC was our tour guide and Raol our driver…..both were lovely and really helpful. We had a thoroughly enjoyable day albeit that there was not necessarily a running commentary of the area, history etc which we thought there would be. That said we had a fabulous time and big thanks to JC and Raol.
Our guides were very knowledgeable and thorough. They made sure we had plenty of time to enjoy Cozumel. They spoke very good English and had no trouble communicating with us. They made sure were able to go anywhere we wanted and still return to the ship in plenty of time.
JC and Raul were great company and JC shared his knowledge about the island. Eco tour was great and Punta Sur was beautiful.
I am so happy I booked this tour! My girlfriend and I had Jorge for our tour guide/driver he knew all the best spots on Cozumel. He helped make the tour one of the highlights of the trip. I would definitely ask Jorge about El mirador, regalo de los Dios, and the Caribbean Sea beaches. Cannot wait to book this tour again
We had a wonderful day with Raul our driver and JC our guide! The tour was customized to our wishes. We added beach time and one stop before being driven back to the hotel. JC is a wealth of knowledge. We learned about living on Cozumel including local food and utilities, even schools. The tequila tour was excellent, nothing like Tequila for sale at home! JC located a crocodile for us and showed us many details we would not have noticed. We loved Punta Sur. I highly recommend this private tour!
We had an excellent time with senõr Jorge. He was very informative and knowledgeable about local cultures and history. Lunch was excellent also! He was very friendly and pays close attention to your enjoyment. We had a great time! We didn’t get to do snorkeling with him which is a bummer but maybe next time!
We had the best time, and this tour company was great to work with. Very easy to communicate, and they really go out of their way to make sure the guest is well taken care of. I would not hesitate to use them again, and I would suggest anyone booking through them to contact them before your trip so they can make sure you're taken care of. Truly awesome time in Cozumel!
I wish I could give this experience 10 stars!! Our guide JC was awesome & let us choose exactly what we wanted to do. He was super friendly & showed us the authentic, undeveloped side of Cozumel. The super cute beach bars were our favorite part of the experience, we enjoyed the super fresh fish tacos, delicious Mojitos & resident rescue dogs ( they were adorable & very friendly). We also visited the Mayan ruins, our driver Raul ever taught us a few words in Mayan. Then we headed to the tequila tasting & purchased a couple bottles of their family owned small batch tequila, it’s so much smooth, no lime needed. Our last stop was Coz - Coffee Roasting Company, where I had the best coffee of my life, the peanut butter coffee was out of this world amazing!! I highly recommend booking this tour with JC, he will show you a great time & be your personal paparazzi.
Jorge was great!! Island is beautiful & fun. Lots of photo ops & shopping stops. We had lunch o the far aside of the island & it was delicious. (Margarita was amazing & worth $10).
Great day out in a jeep with Jorge who was most pleasant and informative. Cruise ship docked late but Jorge waited for us. Toured round the coast as unfortunately it was Easter Sunday and all the main attractions were closed. However we stopped at several beaches and had a nice lunch stop in a beach side restaurant. Nice touch that beer and water were provided in a cool box. Very much needed as it was so hot. Would just suggest that in advance you inform what you may wish to do in advance. Jorge offered snorkelling but we hadn’t come equipped.
This was the best excursion I’ve taken to date! Louie was an amazing tour guide, he showed us every part of the island and customized some amazing stops along the way. He was so knowledgeable (having been born and raised on the island) and so kind it was truly an amazing day. He took us to a mojito stand which had the BEST mojitos I’ve ever tasted- that stop is a must for everyone. We went to a tequila museum, toured the entire island, went to the nature preserve/lighthouse, had some amazing local cuisine, we even had time to spare to shop. I’ve been to Cozumel half a dozen times and this was by far the best tour of the island I’ve ever been on. We saw every inch of the island because of Louie and it was truly a special stop on our cruise. I highly recommend this excursions and you definitely need to ask for Louie he made the trip for us!
The guides were prompt in picking us up at the prearranged location. Loaded swiftly and off we went. Saw great highlights!
JC was a great guide and was very accommodating! He even took us on a side trip to the chocolate factory, which was very Interesting. Due to the fact that we were unprepared for some of the cash layout, we ended up shortchanging our guide on his tip. We were under the impression that all the fees were included, however, there were additional entrance fees to the Mayan ruins. Overall, a very good experience. Just remember to bring plenty of cash and wear sunscreen and a hat at the ruins area. I would like to note that there was a misunderstanding about the lunch being included, for which we ended up purchasing. But Leon Tours was able to rectify the situation to our satisfaction. A shout out to Birgit from Leon Tours for the wonderful communication both before and after the trip! It was a pleasure using their well organized services!
JC was a great guide and very accommodating! We had an enjoyable ride around the island. He even added an extra stop at the chocolate factory. The only regret was that we ran low on cash before the trip was over, thus we were unable to tip JC and the driver what they deserved.
